We have searched high and low for good Thai food since moving to Arizona over 7 years ago. We finally found an amazing Thai restaurant, Cafe de Bangkok in Gilbert. Everything from the combo appetizer sampler to the curry and fried rice dish was excellent. The service was excellent and the booth seating up was comfy. Keep up the good work Cafe de Bangkok. WOW!!! This new place is amazing... From the personable wait staff, to the delicious dishes! We went for lunch and were started off with a yummy Egg Drop Soup that was so much more than the usual watery stuff at many places. Then we ordered the Tom Kha Gai soup. It was some of the best I've tasted! Served the traditional way, but with a choice to add in the chili if desired. I ordered the Panang Beef Curry and my hubs ordered the Yellow Curry with chicken. Our taste buds were not disappointed! My husband repeated many times it was the best he's ever had (it really was!) and my Panang was delicious! Tom, the owner, really takes pride in his scratch kitchen and presenting his moms best recipes. We will absolutely be back for more!! read more

Amazing restaurant and food!! We had the pleasure of conversing with the owner, Tom, who clearly is very passionate about introducing good, authentic Thai food. The food was absolutely amazing. This was our second time here but will not be the last. My boyfriend had the Khao Soi (soooo good) and I had #57 in the menu. He's a bit of a Thai food snob (as all people who have taken a trip to Thailand can be) and says this place is the single best Thai restaurant outside of Thailand he's been to. Loved everything we got but specifically the green curry was the best! We got pad Thai with chicken, fried rice and the green curry. Ordering a medium spice for all meals was way spicy so we were all crying but still loved it! Would order everything with mild spice next time and will definitely be back often. Decided to try this out for something new. I have been sick and their soup looked amazing on the pictures (even better in person). It is a small building but do not judge a book by its cover. Best iced tea I have had, best soup I have had, and the owner/chef Tom came out and spoke to us. He explained the dishes, his philosophy on ownership/food, and told me ways to order to spice things up a bit. Tom is a great guy! Going back tonight for more soup!! New favorite place for sure! I love Thai food, but their menu has so many things I couldn't even believe it. I have been to many Thai places and have never seen some of the dishes on this menu! AWESOME Thai Cuisine! You must try this place, you will not regret it. The owners Tom and A are so friendly and accommodating. Tom takes the time to describe each dish/cuisine he cooks when he brings it to the table. He describes the Thai ingredients and teaches you how it is prepared. I've never received this treatment from any restaurant. He is very passionate about the cuisine he cooks and it shows in the service, presentation, and taste. I'm a huge fan of the Curry Ramen and the Chicken Pad Tai. read more

Visiting my son in AZ for the first time and we wanted to find a top-rated sit-down Thai restaurant in Gilbert. Cafe de Bangkok didn't disappoint with its food, service, and ambiance. I've had the privilege of traveling to Thailand and sampling their food and this was as close to being there for me. The Pa Nang Curry duck was unbelievable and my son's tofu steak was an excellent vegetarian meal. They have two more loyal customers and look forward to visiting them the next time I'm in AZ for a visit! read more

I saw this restaurant on a local TV news broadcast recently and they had very nice things to say about it, so I decided to give it a try before my upcoming trip to Thailand. What a disappointment. The atmosphere was dinge and boring. The hostess literally forgot about us after we were told it would be a few minutes. She then proceeded to seat several others who came in after us. When we were finally seated it took at least fifteen minutes before we saw our server. Then another 50 minutes before we got our food. We nearly walked out but honestly I was determined to see what the food was like. That was also a huge disappointment. It was spicy which was expected, otherwise bland. Pretty much like I would expect from a fast food place. But this restaurant was supposed to be the best authentic Thai food in the valley. God I hope that's not the case or I don't have much to look forward to when I get to Thailand. read more

We travel a lot and seek out Thai food wherever we are. This is some of the best we've had. Excellent flavors, and such ample portions that we had an entire meal left over for the next day. We ordered the salad rolls, expecting normal spring rolls. What a surprise that they were the size of giant burritos, packed so full of flavor that we barely needed the dipping sauce. It really is a salad wrapped in rice paper. The pad thai had fresh grated cabbage and carrots, adding to the crunch of the bean sprouts. And again, a huge portion. In addition, even though this was during covid and therefore only take out, the interior of the restaurant itself was sparkling clean, which says so much. When we are in the Phoenix area, we will definitely be back. read more

We had been customers of Mint Thai for years and enjoyed their food. What a great surprise to go into the restaurant and find it had been purchased by a nice family who used to have a restaurant near my work. Tom, the new owner, did such a great job at his other restaurant that I'm excited to see how he elevates Cafe De Bangkok. The food is delicious. I had the Tom Kha Gai soup and loved how Tom explained the origin of the dish and why he uses the ingredients he uses. They are still in the remodeling phase of taking over the restaurant, but his style at his other restaurant was elegant and well-done. He prides himself on cleanliness and he excitedly shared his plans for this location. The current interior is not reflective of the food quality, Tom's dedication to his cuisine and his desire to truly make each meal a wonderful experience. Once he's finished with the remodel and guiding the wait-staff to give stellar customer service, this place will be packed. We will definitely make the 35 minute drive to come back. read more

Great new Thai food place in Gilbert. We tried their steamed and fried pork dumplings and their puff pastry stuffed with potato and curry paste. Both of these appetizers were excellent. For my entree I ordered a the Massaman curry, wow! The flavors were excellent and the aromatics alone would leave you salivating. We finished things off with their mango sticky rice. This was exactly what was needed to satisfy that sweet tooth. We were greeted by both the husband and wife, manager/chef duo. They were wonderful and made us feel right at home.
