I would have taken a picture of my food but I loved it so much I forgot. This place is great. I loved my 2 item meal with taco and enchilada. The yelp check in didn't work but the waitress hooked our son up with a free quesadilla. Great service!

    A shrimp burrito

I went back to this place and ordered a grilled shrimp burrito, and I really loved it. So far I'm very happy I found another place where you can still buy lunch at a fair price. That shrimp burrito has an amazing taste and the green salsa that comes with it , you may want to ask for another one because it tastes really good and you won't be disappointed. I recommend it to anybody or at least try it out.

This was the worst restaurant meal I have ever had. All of the dishes were tasteless and underprepared. None of them matched the description provided on the menu. By far the worst of the dishes were the veggie "fajitas". These supposed "fajitas" were comprised of steamed (yes... steamed) broccoli and some carrots with no tortillas. Do not spend a dime on this place. Awful.

    Shrimp tostada salad

An excellent, quiet, neighborhood Mexican restaurant in Menlo Park, Cafe Del Sol sees a bunch of regulars and has some of the friendliest servers around! The decor is nothing particularly special--homey, sunny, and spacious, but the food is fresh, bright, vibrant, and colorful! I came with a group of four for lunch on a Saturday and we arrived to an empty-looking restaurant. On every table was a plate of freshly fried corn tortilla chips, salsa verde, and pico de gallo. We ordered the shrimp tostada salad, which came with lettuce, guacamole, mango chunks, refried beans, and fried tortillas. It was dressed so nicely with a tomatillo sauce and had a great crunch. The shrimp was one of the best parts--seasoned so nicely and grilled to perfection! We also had the halibut plate and the shrimp plate, each of which came with seasoned Mexican rice, beans (black or refried), mango salsa, and a fresh cole slaw. The shrimp were perfectly cooked in a zesty garlic/lime sauce, but the halibut was unfortunately overcooked and somewhat tough/dry. Finally, we got two fish tacos on a plate (one salmon, one red snapper), but the fish was also a bit overcooked and charred. While the execution of the seafood could have been a bit better, everything else on the plates tasted simply so fresh, light, and delicious. For the food itself, I'd probably rate this restaurant a 3.5, but the super friendly service and great value bump it up a notch!

I got the chicken milanesa. It was a bit over fried but tasted good.

I was returning from the hospital with my mother and based on yelp reviews, I decided to give this place a try. It was closed when we got there but they let us in since it was almost 5 PM. We waited a few minutes and it was really annoying to hear the Mexicans talking out loud and the Mexican radio. I think in respect for the guests, the establishment should keep noise levels down behind the scene. Eventually more customers came in and they got busy enough to stop the talking. The staff was very friendly and we both enjoyed our dishes.

We've since been back at least five times. Service is always impeccable, like seriously- no notes perfect service. I love the vibe, not fussy, but details matter- Heath Ceramics, Le Creuset pots for cioppino, heavy silverware, substantial napkins- everything feels easy but the details let you know they pay attention. We always start with the Vesper martini, their entire cocktail and wine service is impressive, but the Vesper hits. Homemade sourdough starts every meal, supposedly the starter has been the same for years, I mean this is the Bay Area, we know sourdough, and no complaints. Oysters of course, very fresh, great selection, not just the basic kumotos you find at most places, really unique finds. As far as the food, we've never had anything we didn't like, typically we lean towards seafood and salads, but we've also had the burger and the BLT. One other note, my step-daughter just got off the plane from NYC and the first place she wanted to go was Clark's for a cup of their clam chowder- it's that good. I live in the East Bay and I will happily drive to the Peninsula to eat here.

The Catch of the Day is constantly changing. The Barramundi and Branzino were delicious. The seafood crudo is a must every time. I love raw fish and the flavors in the assortment of fresh fish are of simple lemon, oil and caper flavors. I yearn for the crudo if I haven't had my fix in a bit! The shellfish here is also damn good. That clam linguine is a guilty pleasure. It's got just the right amount of cream in it leaving the sauce light and nuanced with harmonious flavors. The mussels and clams go perfect with the grilled sourdough for dipping in the broth. Ask for the spicy oil. Omg I want to put it in everything! I never order crab cakes. Because they're usually breaded up with the actual crab meat taking a back seat but not at Clark's! It's all tasty crab meat with almost no casing if any. I only order crab cakes here. If you crave dessert, this is the place also. I'm not a huge dessert person, but I enjoy their sweet treats. Sometimes they have special desserts also like that berry cheesecake. There is a great selection of wines here, and Wine Wednesday bottles are half off. I took my mommy here for Mother's Day. She loved it. Clark's is of exceptional quality, and I can't wait to get my next fix in my favorite seafood restaurant! Excellent, beautifully made fresh food, impeccable service, fun atmosphere and reasonable prices.

I think there were communication issues. there was some mix up with the tables and throughout the night after that our orders kept getting mixed up with not just one but two other tables. So we would see our food from afar being held in front of a group of servers where they would have a conversation over our plates of food for a few minutes then go to other tables, and try to give it to other tables before it finally got to us. The staff explained there was a mixup and due to that all the orders continued getting mixed up during our meal, but there was no acknowledgment otherwise or an attempt to make things right. I think because the group tip is already mandatory, there was no incentive on their end, perhaps. The bus staff are pretty available and responsive but limited in what they were allowed to assist with and the server was hard to flag down. Anyway onto the food. The clams linguine was flavorful. The crab Alfredo pasta had a lot of crab which was a pleasant surprise but a little lacking in flavor and a little on the sweet side with cream and crab notes. Cioppino was better than expected. Oysters were good and an okay price. Key lime pie was decent. I think 3.5-4 stars for the food (probably 4 at the happy hour rates!), 2 for service. Ambiance is a bit weird. Like somewhat upscale with some decor and high ceilings but not in others. Worthwhile to return for happy hour and may update review then!

The service is nothing to write home about either. Their shop is small, and they staff only two waiters for the entire restaurant on a weekend afternoon. Those poor waiters were sprinting the entire time we were there. The food also took forever to make. Skewers had a 20-30-minute wait. The Sukiyaki hotpot entree took 40-50 minutes, and all they needed to do was slice the meat and arrange the veggies. We still had to cook the raw meat ourselves, mind you. I don't understand why it would take them 45 minutes to prep. Not being able to get a hold of the server to check on the status of our dish didn't help either, as they were busy zooming around because the restaurant was understaffed. Overall, there is a mismatch between the price they are charging and the overall experience we got. They either need to increase the portion or significantly increase the service to match the pricetag.
