Someone in the kitchen really cares. The food is a bit college grub but made with an upscale twist by people that oviously have culinary skills. Ordered a panini and the crab nachos both were nicely done. Personaly a bit too much drizzle on the nachos for my taste but not for most folks. We came in one rainy evening for dinner and my first thought was that the lighting inside was very dim. Service was pleasant but a little slow, though I think the speed was more on the kitchen side than the waitress - she brought drinks quickly and took our order quickly, but from the time we placed the order until the food arrived was overlong. We ordered a korean BBQ bowl and the meat was fatty, the dish in general was overly salted, and the naan it came with was bland and dry. We also ordered the grilled chicken and bacon avocado panini which was bland as well. The worst part of the meal was the traditional french fries - they were cool and lacked crunch (tasted like leftover french fries do). The two items we ordered that might bring us back for another try were the sweet potato waffle fries and the strawberry tres leches cake - both were tasty. Overall I would describe it as lack-luster chain restaurant fare, and given the choice I'd select other chains in town over this one. read more

I have ordered the same 2 items for years. Until recently, they have been spot on with the occasional error. My last 3 orders have left me to wonder what is happening. The quality is consistent, but the errors are adding up. I ordered a California salad with 1 omission and a dressing change. The dressing change has been ignored on the previous 2 deliveries. This time, my omission was correct, but someone took the liberty of deleting the avocado also. Frankly, that makes the salad a cut above, so without it, it's a ho-hum chicken salad. In addition, my dressing change was ignored for a 3rd time. May be time to take a break from the Cafe for a bit. Hopefully, they will have corrected the problems during my hiatus. I had the nacho chips as an appetizer and the advocado club as my meal which were both amazing! Stopped by Winchester for the first time today and I'm very impressed. The menu was very modern with some great twists on classic foods. We showed up on a Saturday night, the restaurant was packed. We were seated quickly and we're taken care of respectully. We ordered the crab nachos, AMAZING! The service was a really slow (they were down a waiter and there was a party of 20+ sitting next to us) I was very happy with the food especially the sweet potato fries. The staff realized that the service was very slow and comped us a small dessert. There is nothing better than a service that realizes it's mistakes. I would like my review to be a response to Melissa M.'s poorly written review; a gross negligence of proper grammar. First of all, I am a regular patron of this establishment. I find their food to be reasonably priced for the high quality of menu items that come from the kitchen. Not all of their servers are the friendliest, but the server to whom Melissa M. refers is the server we ask for every time we patronize this business; she's attentive and extremely knowledgeable of the menu, both food and bar. In fact, I was there on Mother's day and was a witness to the children running amok and being allowed to climb up onto tables and other furniture, which to me speaks volumes to the caliber of parenting (or lack thereof) used (or not) in order to keep the children under control. Cafe del Sol is not MDonald's. It does not have a playground and if you insist upon allowing your children to be obnoxious and destructive, Cafe del Sol is certainly not the place for low class individuals with poor/no parenting skills. As far as complaining about the auto gratuity, again, this place is not McDonald's!! Melissa, I think it's safe to say that neither you, nor your friend and children are absolutely welcome to NOT come back, as I am sure that others would be just as perturbed to have to go to a separate room to dine because your kids are a-holes. read more

I got the market wrap and the bacon aioli fries to go. The sandwich couldn't have had more than a teaspoon of avocado, and the fries were undercooked, greasy, and soggy with aioli, cause nobody thought to package it separately. Meh is correct. I got take out for lunch today. I had the Red Rock Bisque as my appetizer. The seafood was way overdone, and I don't think the soup was made fresh today. For my entree, I got the 10" artichoke chicken pizza. It was disappointing. I thought because artichoke was in the name of the pizza that there would be actual pieces of artichoke on it, I was incorrect. The pizza wasn't bad, but the chicken was dry and I found exactly 2 tiny pieces of artichoke on the whole thing. My friend got the Cuban panini and she said it was wonderful. I did try a few of her house made chips and they were good, so I will give Cafe Del Sol one more try with the panini before I stop going there. If I could give no stars I would've! I am absolutely appalled by the service that was received today from the workers at the Winchester store. First off a meal was ordered and it was the wrong portion size, not only did I pay 18 dollars for it, but all the avocado that was given for the meals had mold on it! After calling to let the store know what had happened the lady on the phone got an attitude and started to curse and became overly rude giving the circumstance. After saying that we would never again get from this place or at least for awhile the lady on the phone then said "Oh because we fucked up one time you're never gonna get from us again." There are days this place is GREAT! Then days not so much. Their salads are awesome. But some of the staff really need to be more knowledgeable on gluten free. I've been here a few times and one day something 'is' gluten free and another 'it isn't'. This scares me, so I stick with a salad because going home and feeling miserable for three days isn't such a fun thing. I wish they'd open more of a selection for GFers. I also wish their food had more consistency...Some days it's GREAT others- the chicken on my salad tastes like it was out of one of those bags of frozen food you'd buy at Walmart. The one soup I did try there (when I first went) was of the same quality- I'd expect to find it in a can. Sorry to say, but it's true. Otherwise, they're doing alright. read more

I have lived in the Winchester area all my life; and I have never tried this place until the other day... Needless to say, I was missing out! The building will give you a sense that this place costs a fortune, but a menu at my place of employment proved me other wise so I decided to stop in with my husband for dinner. A co worker had told me about the cheesesteak, so that's what I ordered. It was delicious! Ciabatta bread with lots of cheese, peppers, onions and mayo... This cheese steak was probably one of the best ones I've had and definitely beats other pizzerias in this town. My husband is a huge pizza lover, so he ordered a cheese pizza. He loved it. I tried the crust and was in love! I can't wait to stop in and try more of this food. We went on a Monday, and the service really lacked though. We were 1 of 3 customers dining, and our waitress had to be asked for a refill. My husband looked over and she was at the booth on her phone. That was disappointing but the food made up for it! Also, I recommend fixing the first bathroom door in the ladies restroom, it got jammed and was very hard to get out of the bathroom door. The atmosphere was comfortable but we couldn't figure out if this place was trying to be a classy upscale restaurant or a sports bar. The food echoes our same thoughts on the atmosphere. It was trying to be upscale but just ended up being like a sports bar. If you go for lunch, as we did, do not be suckered in by the $9.99 sandwich, soup and side. It's a small special menu and you would be better served (money and portion wise) just ordering from the larger menu. With limited choices, and an up charge for substituted items (fries? Really?) the special menu was not so special. By the way, my soup was barely lukewarm but still edible. We will probably not go here again but it wasn't terrible for a one time. read more

We loved the Crab Nachos they are a must have. I had the Greek Pizza and it was just prefect. I have to say i wanted to try about 12 different menu items. My daughter was raving about her Blanco Pizza. They Ahi Tuna Tostada ( I think thats what it was) on a separate menu sounds incredible. I would say one only very minor thing is to open some of the blinds. We were in there on a saturday afternoon and it was a little depressing. My first visit to Cafe Del Sol was above expectations. Atmosphere is relaxing. The menu is varied but really great for lunch. Looked like they had an OK vegetarian selection. I had the Cabo sandwich- a bunch of Tilapia, slaw, dressing, avocado on flat bread with a salad for about 10 dollars. The flavors were good and everything went together well. I was surprised at the beer selection, Chocolate stout was awesome. Finally the service... Staci was one of the best waitresses I've had at this level restaurant. Went for lunch today and had a really great meal here. Crab nachos for appetizer and the Martguerita pizza. The appetizer was good but the pizza completely blew me away. Real mozzarella cheese (not like the weak stuff they throw on at your chain stores like Papa Johns), fresh basil and tomato plus a crust that was really exceptional. I've been to this place numerous times and the service isn't always the best. Nevertheless, I continue to go back because the food is good and at times the service is great. Today I had the occasion to be seated and met by a female server who was complete intoxicated. As she took my drink order her speech was slurred and I smelled an odor of alcohol. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and waited until she returned with my drink which she was spilling all of the way to my table. I then smelled the alcohol again when she returned. I confronted her immediately and her response when I told her she was intoxicated was "really". Staff (owner) was notified and I hope they handled the situation. I was told she just started work. There is no way I was the first person to notice she was completed trashed. I left and didn't stay to place an order. read more

I don't even blame the waitress who served us a few days ago, who apparently only worked there a week...! Where was the manager and/or veteran waitstaff to help her along?! It's a self- proclaimed CA pizzeria... with a Mexican heavy menu, and they ran out of sour mix for margaritas.... MARGARITAS! Are you serious? Aside from that... They were understaffed and our dirty appetizer plates sat on our table for the entire meal. We received out waters halfway thru the entree, and the second round of drinks never arrived, when the server remembered at the end of the meal, we told her to forget them. The restaurant was a nice place for an ordinary dinner. Nothing was terrible yet nothing was spectacular. The prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food. The decor and food had a "chain" feel to it. If you don't mind chain restaurants then you'd probably enjoy this place. We had a cheap bottle of vino ($16) and a pizza which was a step up from delivery but not out of this world. We also had the crab nachos which were very greasy (I'm not saying the grease didn't taste good!) an some of the cheese wasn't melted all of the way. The nachos did have a significant amount of crab on them though so that was appreciated. The server was attentive although not trained on how to properly open a bottle of wine - I guess that's what you get when you buy a cheap bottle though. I will be keeping my eye out for more unique restaurants in the area. read more
