Finding this little French gem on North Palm Canyon Drive was a real treat this week. The location was quaint and lovely, the service special, and the food spectacular. What made it even better was the visit with the chef, Freddie. Hence the name. Try to visit this place and enjoy the French cuisine. You won't be disappointed.

It's always a treat to have a meal at Freddie's! Everything is outstanding and you must save room for dessert. Thank you Marco and Freddie for making my birthday so special!

What a tiny gem! Chef Freddie and server Marco provide an amazing experience. It's an intimate restaurant (9 tables)! The French onion soup is the best I've ever eaten. Escargot was also delicious. We both had miso black cod and it was well prepared and served with veggies. The crème brûlée was the finishing point. Everything was so well prepared and the service attentive but not intrusive.

Casual yet chic French restaurant located in the trendy Cole hotel. The menu items are decidedly French but the portions are very much American sized! The menu leans meat heavy, but there are a couple of options for vegetarians and those who prefer fish. Food preparation and presentation are elegant and delight the eye. Service was excellent -- the chef came out to greet us, explain the menu, and ask for our preferences. This is definitely a keeper!

Our second time here ( we dined months ago during the summer heat, and now during peak season). Elk medallions (a regular menu item) and duck confit cassoulet (a special) were our selections along with their French Elder specialty cocktail. Intimate, charming, high end dining experience, a gregarious owner/chef who engages you in conversation, and a clientele of regulars and newbies. Given its small size, the menu is limited, but every item is expertly prepared.

We went to Freddy's Kitchen tonight to give it a try and I was very impressed! A selective but intriguing menu, a friendly staff, and Chef Freddy would frequently come and check on us. We started the evening with a special limoncello martini that Chef Freddy created and then on to escargot, which was quite tasty. I was set on the elk medallions, but when I heard about the special miso cod we decided to order both to share! The elk was delicious and tender, but the cod truly stole the show! I appreciate Chef Freddy's attention to detail and the fact the vegetables were cooked perfectly and flavorful! I will definitely be returning!

After digging through Yelp and social media for a bit, we stumbled upon Ash & Vine, which appears to be a new addition to the area. Location-wise, it worked out perfectly, only about a five-minute walk from our hotel. That said, the place is quite hidden, at least to my eyes. We walked around for a bit before accidentally spotting the small sign tucked among all the greenery. Once inside, though, the place had plenty of charm. It almost feels like a small house where the living room was transformed into a warm and welcoming place for people to gather and enjoy a good dinner. Very stylish, but still comfortable and intimate. Must be that Palm Springs vibe. The service also matched the setting - warm, relaxed and welcoming without feeling overly formal. The food is beautifully and creatively presented, almost like fine dining, but the overall experience remains casual and approachable. My favorite was easily the scallop risotto. It was rich, hearty and flavorful, but still nicely balanced. My wife tried some and immediately said that the next time we pass through Palm Springs, she is ordering it for herself. Not that her Jidori chicken was bad, it was quite good, but that risotto was the dish we kept talking about afterward. Both of my boys loved their steaks. They said the sauce gave the filets a different flavor from the ones they have had elsewhere, which apparently earned their approval. We finished with the pavlova, a delectable combination of tropical sweetness, meringue, mango sauce and pineapple. Light, refreshing and a great way to end dinner - especially after walking through that Palm Springs heat. All in all, the bill came out to about $340 including tip for a party of four, with no alcohol. Not exactly a cheap dinner, but considering the setting, quality and overall experience, it felt reasonable for a nicer family meal in Palm Springs. A nice accidental find and a great start to our evening. It feels like one of those small hidden places that may not stay hidden for very long. Definitely somewhere we would return to the next time we are in town.

This meant Marilyns everywhere, including the waiters, which made the experience that much more fun. Aside from that, we had made reservations ahead of time thankfully, because it was BUSY. But we were sat just as soon as we had arrived, and despite it being very hot out at the time, they had a bunch of shaded spots with misting fans. The drinks were fantastic, including mine which was a zero-proof mocktail. We all ordered different chicken dishes, and each one received high praise. I was able to try each of them and I was very happy with my fajitas, but I gotta give the nachos their dues. They were just as good. Chips were crispy all the way through, and not one was soggy from all the ingredients. Loved it, will definitely be back when I visit again. Id also like to mention that we chose this place as my friend's Bachelor Party closing dinner, and he couldn't have been happier. He was so thrilled with how the weekend had gone, that dining at Clandestino's really was the cherry on top. Thank you for making our dining experience such a pleasant one.

Maybe because it fell like a spot only locals go to. But it all changed once my wife's salad came. It was built with the utmost care and it tasted amazing. It was like a fancy balsamic salad with sourdough bread and cherry tomatoes. Then our waiter was very helpful and told us about the food and recommended a wild mushroom pasta. He said all the pasta sauces were made the same day and he even showed us a video of the kitchen and how the noodles are made. I like mushrooms but I'm usually a burger or a steak guy. But I went with it. My wife got a shrimp pasta. Both tasted absolutely amazing...my wife pasta was so refreshing and my mushroom pasta was superb!! The waiter was so cool too.
