I can't say enough good things about this cafe. The baked goods are as delicious and well-made as any I've had anywhere in the area, the staff is courteous and knowledgable, the coffee is expertly made, and the rest of the menu is delectable. To the latter point, there are very few places in Fairfield County where you can get excellent coffee AND a really good omelet, crepe, or salad. Plenty of places for either, virtually none for both. Cafe Dolce is one of those places. We go as often as we can. read more

I love the pastries! the Dobos cake is addictive. I drive to NYC on a weekly basis and I always try to stop and get a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. But Jesus, the older gentlemen attending the register needs some costumer service advise. Reading the comments, I realized I am not the only one that believes this. We stopped here on the way home because my husband wanted some coffee. The hours listed online were different from the actual hours - on Google reviews it said Cafe Dolce was open until 5 on Fridays, we arrived there around 3:30. I entered the store, the person at the counter gave me a weird look. I asked if there was a restroom I could use, he shrugged his shoulders & gestured down the hall, like I should have already known where it was. I promised I would purchase something when I came back. I went back to the counter, asked if there was oat milk, and attempted to order a latte. The person at the counter said the espresso machine was turned off, he could do iced coffee. Ok, reasonable? I asked if there was a way I could get a hot tea. That was when the person at the counter told me in an annoyed like I should already know manner that Cafe Dolce had closed 1/2 hour ago. Well.... I'm from out of town, not a regular customer, it said you were open until 5 online, and your door was wide open with customers congregating at outdoor tables at your establishment. I said, ok, I don't need to get anything then, thanks for letting me use the restroom, and booked it out of there. I don't have time for rude people. What about just telling me your establishment was closed in the first place instead of giving me weird looks and being pretty darn rude about it. Maybe make sure your hours match up online. 2 stars because the person at the counter did allow me to use the restroom, and the baked goods looked very good. read more

Stopped here on our way back to Maryland and what a hidden gem!! Coffee is amazing especially the specialty coffees. I highly suggest going hungry because you will want to fill up on their delicious pastries and desserts. Definitely worth the stop and convenient off the highway read more

I genuinely hate to be one of the first people to break Café Dolce's 5-star streak, but I've been going fairly regularly (because, yes, their sweets are awesome) and keep experiencing the same issue. Although I love great coffee, amazing pastries and friendly service (check, check, check), I also love efficiency and keeping to a reasonable schedule. While I envy the patrons I see happily enjoying their coffees and croissants over laptops and kindles, I am not that person. I am the busy working mom who wants it all - a decent cup of coffee AND the ability to get places on time. On most occasions, I have found myself waiting at the counter (and waiting....and waiting....) while the employees make "I've got nowhere to be" chit-chat with people sitting at tables or sometimes even with each other. Ummm..... Hello? Hello? On the two weekend instances of me going in with actual time on my hands to enjoy breakfast with friends, it literally took 30-40 minutes to get food on the table - and it wasn't busy! We got crepes and pastries - all of which arrived at different times. Am I just peeved because my crepe got cold while my friend waited another 10 minutes for hers to be served? Yeah, kind of. Especially since we watched the server, who was making the crepes, take a little breather in the process. I have never resorted to toe-tapping or eye-rolling or "ahem, could I get some help here?", but all of the wonderful warmth and deliciousness and friendliness of Café Dolce is totally lost on you when you start questioning if you'll ever get what you came in for. Love love love. The coffee is amazing. So fresh and balanced. They select their own blend and grind the beans daily, and it's very obvious from the distinct and even flavor. As for the pastries, they are all authentic European inspired fares. Hungarian in origin, these guys truly deliver on quality and flavor. I've been to Hungary and my Hungarian wife can attest to its authenticity. They just nailed it. From multi layered cake, to tiramisu, this assortment is intriguing and familiar. But most importantly, delicious. They also offer breakfast and lunch options, although they are a bit shy broadcasting it for some reason. Their pastas are simple and somewhat benign, but bursting with flavor and freshness as each one is carefully prepared al dente. I do not live anywhere near this part of CT. I had to come down here for a doctors appointment, for my dog. Our first time out here we stopped at Cafe Dolce for a quick bite to eat. What a lucky find! We got a fresh ham and cheese croissant. It was AmaZing. I had to come back out this way for my dogs appointment and I searched for this place. I was craving another one of those home made croissants. After 20 minutes of driving around a location I am not familiar with, I found Cafe Dolce!! I was not disappointed. I got a croissant and a coffee. Sat down to get some work done while I waited for my dog to get out of a surgery. They refilled my coffee and took great care of me. On our drive north for Thanksgiving we took a pit stop at this exit for a late lunch/early dinner. We didn't want fast food and saw this little cafe across from a McDonald's and decided to give it a shot. The space itself was very warm. It seemed very out of place in its little strip mall. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We ordered two paninis (one cheddar, salami, spinach and prosciutto, the other was fresh mozzarella, mushrooms and peppers). Both were $5.99. Both were huge, delicious, and well made (they didn't just heap toppings on, they were carefully placing all of the ingredients so they were spread evenly). This wasn't on the menu but they both came with a salad of greens with a vinaigrette. It was a lot of food for $12. The owner also threw in a couple pastries for free which were also quite tasty (we ate the chocolate croissant for dessert, we still have a fruit pastry which we've tasted but decided to save for later). Their display case was full of other delicious looking treats. If I were making this drive again I'd definitely be up for a second visit. It was about a minute from the exit ramp. read more

Hot espresso drinks are okay. Iced coffee is trash. I haven't had their hot coffee because I was advised against it by a friend. All iced drinks are filled to the brim with ice with drops of beverage in between. Egg sandwich on a croissant was good but overpriced. Two coffees and a small pastry is $15. Wait staff has been rude, rushed, and unhelpful every time I've been there. Atmosphere is cute. Outdoor seating is currently available in the parking lot. I normally don't drink coffee but I am now completely hooked on theirs. Got a decaf cappuccino w almond milk (what's the point right?), and it was seriously the best coffee I've ever had. Ah, Café Dolce...I had such high hopes for you. We came in too late to get anything but pastries and coffee. They stared daggers at us for even asking for coffee and were extremely rude. I thought it might be because we came in half an hour before they closed, it wasn't. I am in the shopping center often and people who work there told me how happy they are another deli is opening so they no longer have to be subjected to the rude staff here. I don't write this review to be mean, I am really just hoping someone reads it and uses it to improve the attitude of their staff. Probably the best bakery in Norwalk. I would call it a coffee shop but they're focus is more on pastries then coffee. The pastries are amazing! Everything I've tried is delicious. The coffee isn't as good as Source in Bridgeport or Lorca in Stamford but it's decent. It's a pretty good ambiance inside. Can be a bit awkward if there aren't many people there. I don't recommend coming here and being on your laptop for a few hours: it's not that type of place. But it's great for a group that want to have some tea and cake. read more
