My boyfriend and I came to cafe dolma after walking around jersey city and spotting a cute pink building with outdoor eating and beautiful flowers-we weren't disappointed! We sat outside under the umbrella and the owner of the restaurant who does it all was so friendly and welcoming! We both ordered the grilled chicken and vegetable sandwich and it was delicious! Cafe Dolma is a super cute restaurant right on Grand Street in Jersey City. I came here for brunch with 3 of my friends on a Sunday and we were seated immediately. The waiter was very nice and gave us solid recommendations! I tried the Chicken Charmoula sandwich and the bread was so soft and the veggies were perfectly grilled! My boyfriend had the steak sandwich with potatoes and he loved it, he was full from it all day! My other 2 friends both got the cilbir and they said it was awesome. It looked super appetizing too. The only downside was that the service was very slow. It took 30+ minutes for our food to arrive. The avocado toast was a delicacy. Different from many other styles. The eggs were perfect - very nicely done in a to-go order. The Lox and cream cheese was excellent as well. I ordered the charmoula veggie medley omelette, which mostly had eggplants in regards to the vegetables and came with a red pepper sauce. Really disappointing experience. Asked if we could order a side of lox and were told yes absolutely and it would be of lesser cost than a lox platter. When the check came we were charged full price. We asked the waiter/owner to adjust the check and were told no because they don't do sides of lox. We argued that that's exactly what they said they would provide but then we're sternly lectured he can't do that from an economic standpoint. So fair enough but then we pushed him on why he had even agreed to it in the first place. To that he had no response or just didn't really care. Completely rude and dismissive owner. Train your staff better to not offer things that don't exist OR be a decent owner an at least acknowledge her customers point of view. Needless to say will not be back. If you do go be forewarned of their bait and switch tactics/ lack of anything remotely close to quality customer service. read more

Fair warning, this place is quite small (but super cozy!). There are a few tables wrapped around the perimeter of the restaurant with seating outside when the weather permits. We were seated between to their smaltwo other tables and we were very close to each other...I could hear my neighbor's conversation and they could hear mine. Found Cafe Dolma with a quick Yelp search while I was in Jersey City. We were looking for a low-key brunch spot with quality food and we have definitely found the spot! We arrived around 1pm on a Saturday and the outdoor dining was full, so we had to wait a little bit for a table to open up. The outdoor dining area isn't that big, but it's fine if you don't mind a little wait. We ordered a Lamb Moussakka, Chicken & Grilled Veggies Pizza, and Baby Spinach & Mushroom Omelette. Yes yes yes! Went in with a buddy who raved about the homemade donuts... some of the best I've ever had. No frills.. just perfectly made light airy and fluffy nutella filled donut. A ton of nutella too...literally in every bite I didn't run out when I got to the sides/corners/ends... and the dough was just unreal. Quite obvious it was homemade... so delicious and light. Also got a homemade donuthole munchkin thing. Same dough ...light and perfect with an amazing jelly. I wanted more of the jelly filling because it was so good but the hole wasn't overloaded.
