Ordered avacado toast and chicken charmoula sandwich. Both dishes were really good but the service was EXTREMELY slow. Since we were in a rush, we grabbed the menus on our own and I went to place the order at the counter but the owner asked me to have a seat and he would come to take my order. He came after 5-7 minutes. We asked him before placing the order how long it would take and he said 15 minutes, which was okay for us. After waiting for 25 minutes, I finally got up to ask him how much longer and he turns and the food waiting on the counter for the last 5-10 minutes was ours but no one came to bring it from the kitchen counter to our table. It took him 10 more minutes to process the bill. They are majorly understaffed and should consider hiring more people. Again, the food is delicious. read more

Ah, so I wish I could've given Cafe Dolma a higher review. It's a cute and cozy spot, in a basically perfect location in JC. But between the standing wait time and our food being forgotten I truly can't. The server was doing the best he could, managing all of the tables but it was a bit overwhelming. After waiting about 25-30 mins(not bad) we were finally placed at a table and we ordered right away, after about 30 minutes of waiting for food, my friend and I realized that it wasn't put in. Once we did get our food, after a bunch of sweet apologies from the server, it was great. He also gave us a free dessert while we waited because it had been so long. The food was a nice take on Turkish cuisine with American touches. I don't think I got to fully experience it though because we were just so exhausted from the long wait time to be seated and receive our food that we couldn't really enjoy it. We came for breakfast/brunch and ordered the following: soujouk & feta omelette with potato fingerlings and Eggs Benedict with pastirma. The owner (I believe) waited on us and he was very nice and pleasant to talk to.Both plates were delicious, came out quickly, and the flavor was perfect. It all starts when you enter. A nice greeting is the perfect way to start the dining relationship. Once you get that greeting then the next step are the starting Drinks. Organic orange juice (no ice) and a cappuccino for me. Both were really really good, dare I say sublime. And then the order: Spanish and mushroom omelette. I will say this emphatically- there is no better omelette in jersey city. Delicately cooked ingredients but with edges that are golden brown the way they were meant to be. A lot of places claim they have omelette as, this is one of the few that cooks them the way they were meant to be. There's only one warning: they will ask you a number of times whether you want sweets (translation= pastries). Save yourself the trouble and say "yes" because of someone else gets one, you will forever regret it. At first I thought they kept asking because they weren't any good and needed to be hawked! Not true! In addition to tasting good, you realize they are sprinkled with fairy dust. Once you have one there is nothing that the world can throw you're way that day, that you cannot handle. This is the WORST service and dining experience I have ever had. The owner of this place is arrogant and rude. We ordered our food with a waiter but he didn't tell us one of the dish would take at least 30 minutes. We waited for our food for so long that two tables who just came in and were seated after we ordered almost finished their food. We complained to a different lady and she shared our upset with the owner and the first waiter. Neither of them came to explain to us (don't even expect any apologies). I approached to the first waiter and wanted to share my feedback. Guess what? He walked away in the middle of our conversation, not even letting me finish my sentence. I tried multiple times again and finally he agreed to invite the owner of this place to talk to me. The owner interrupted me multiple times and saying it is our fault because it's customer's responsibility to ASK for the prepare time for every dish and if you have a question, YOU ARE WRONG. What's insane is the owner also stormed out in the middle of our conversation. Now I understand they are the god of this place so please respect everything they did and they said. They don't accept any negative feedback. They don't care about customers. Well today - I finally managed to try out Cafe Dolma, and now I'm sorry I haven't done it sooner... first of all - their espresso is really good! And my standards are high. The menu has a lot of options. My friend had eggs Benedict and I had the avocado with za'atar toast with a poached egg. The dishes come with a dressed side of mixed greens that tasted like heaven! Everything was great! The service, the food, the coffee and the location - just two blocks away from my place - you can't beat that! Highly recommended! We've tried a wide variety of the menu and can't say any of them let us down - at first glance the portions may seem small but we always end up quite full afterwards. Out of everything we've tried, need to call out their amaaaaazing French toast. Not too sweet with fresh berries and bananas and this yummy golden raisin topping that's their specialty. Thanks to Café Dolma I had the worst dining experience yesterday ever since I came to this country. This place is pathetic with awful service and rude staff/owner and I will never come back. We arrived there a little after 12 PM yesterday and noticed outdoor seating was almost full. There were no waiters outside, so we went indoors and approached the guy behind the cashier. My boyfriend asked him if we could sit outside, he replied, "I don't deal with that kind of stuff" with a facial expression like "don't bother me and f**k off." We should have just left at that moment now thinking back, but we thought he was probably too busy so we just sat aside and waited. A younger waiter then provided us with menus, but we received no service ever since then - no one cleaned our table, no water, no response for our request to order even if waiters walked past us a few times. Then the cashier guy walked past us very quickly and said something, but we didn't catch it. Probably seeing us confusing, he "nicely" came again and now we heard him saying "I don't like being rushed and just leave if you don't like it" We were so angry and shocked and left the restaurant immediately, and now I regret I didn't record his whole behavior as evidence that I can sue him to bankrupt. We have reason to believe we were discriminated considering we were the only Asians there at that time. I am sure we were not the only ones who've been through this. Overcapacity was just an excuse to kick us out of his place, and I guess telling the owner to behave appropriately and treat others with respect is purely a waste of time. Next time why not hang a large banner at the entrance specifying people who are unwelcome here? Anyway, I won't come back and won't recommend this place to anybody. read more

Before rebranding, Dolma was my favorite BYO dinner restaurant. I'm so sad that they don't serve dinner anymore, but so happy that the quality of food, service and atmosphere has remained intact with these new hours. Everyone is so kind and the food is both delicious and unique in comparison to many other Jersey City restaurants. I enjoyed a cozy Sunday morning breakfast of Avocado Toast with Za'atar while sitting in the window seat reading a book and I look forward to making a habit of this. I will also be checking out the vibe on weekdays as I work remote from Jersey City and would love to add a new spot to work from. The only reason I am giving Cafe Dolma 4, instead of 5, stars is that I was extremely disappointed by their use of disposable products even for dining in- plastic cups for cold beverages (with lids AND straws!), paper cups (with plastic lids!) for hot beverages, and even plastic utensils. We all need to be making an effort to waste less to save our planet... their use of this many disposable products is a big step backwards for any restaurant. I will be bringing my own coffee mug and utensils the next time I go, however this is a nuisance and I really hope they reconsider the products they use to serve dine-in customers. read more

Their macchiatos are strong but not hard to swallow allowing a very pleasant lingering taste for the coffee lovers. However I do think it's a better coffee cafe then a place for brunch. Very charming little pink cafe. Open patio to dine outside during nicer days of the year. The interior is very warm and inviting, a very picturesque spot to have a meal. This is my favorite brunch place in the neighborhood!! Literally everything on the menu is so delicious and the owner Vecdi is so friendly. I'm amazed how he remembered me when I only stopped by occasionaly. Now on the weekends this is the spot that I take my friends to, and I am pretty confident that whatever they order off the menu it's going to be delicious.
