Discovered this place through ClassPass surprisingly. I had a bunch of credits expiring and wanted to use them on dinner one night and this place had excellent reviews. Boy was I so glad to find Cafe du Liban! Going to be a regular from now on. I ordered for pick up so I can't speak on service quite yet but there's quite a bit of seating for a few small parties inside. The food tastes delicious and is made fresh to order. Portions are generous as well. My highest recommendation is to order the Baba Ghanoush because WOW. It's so good I could cry. When I tell you I ate this entire bowl by myself. I ate it with the saj, i ate it with my rice, i ate with tortilla chips. Insane.

Met a friend today at Cafe Du Liban and had a lovely lunch! I arrived first and was welcomed and allowed to wait at a table. I let the staff know that I was meeting someone and wanted to take a look at the menu. I was given a printed menu to review while I waited. When my friend arrived, we both decided to get the Falafel Salad. Well...we should have gotten one to share because the portion was very generous. I took a lot home with me! Both of us really enjoyed the salads. We also shared an order of Cheese Pies, which were absolutely delicious. At the end of the meal, we were given complementary baklava, which was so lovely and appreciated. While we were there, I noticed several people picking up to go orders, so great to know that take out is an option. This was my first time visiting the restaurant, and I look forward to returning again to try additional items on the menu. The kabobs looked absolutely amazing and will probably be next on the list to try.

This place is so unassuming, but super cute on the inside. I ordered a chicken salad for takeout and it was absolutely delicious. I also got a side of pickles and turnips - it was such a healthy portion! The chicken on the salad was super yummy! Not boring at all and the portion was nice. The dressing was delicate, not too oily and had great flavor. The pickles and turnips were so crunchy and delicious. Overall, the ingredients tasted so fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! The gentleman who helped me with my order when I arrived was very friendly and happy to assist me. I had always heard Cafe Du Liban was good, and now I know it's true! I will definitely be back!

I was holiday shopping and did not realize that I did not eat. How lucky I was. I saw Cafe Du Liban from across the parking lot. The second line in their sign says simply Mediterranean, so I knew I was in for something very tasty and healthy at the same time. They have a really good menu board. I had a gyro which was really good. The meat was ground and processed but the over all taste and freshness was excellent. I was hoping for chunks of grilled meat like from a kabob. I ordered a side of hummus. The gyro came carefully wrapped, keeping it together so it didn't fall apart before I finished. The staff here are really friendly and offered me pita or lavash for the wrap. How nice. Will try lavash next time. The hummus was spectacular. Just eat the warm pita before it goes cold because it gets a little stiff. I will definitely come back.

Authentic Mediterranean cuisine at the heart of Tarzana. The kababs (chicken & beef) were juicy and freshly grilled. The humus and baba ghanosh were creamy. Service had a friendly and accommodating ambiance. To top it off - it's price friendly!

I stated of with the house salad and let me tell you!! Mouthwatering this salad didn't test like a normal salad so much flavor in it! Then went to the chicken and beef kebab beef 100% hands down was amazing chicken right there with it. It had so much juice to it customer service was incredible. Parking it's OK if it was busy because the shopping center is here it's harder to park. The environment was calm. Just because we did go early in the morning right when they opened. But if you do go here, make sure you bring a jacket or a sweater because it is freezing cold.

Ordered from Cafe Du Liban, the food was flavorful, each plate came with appetizing rice, hummus, pickles, turnips, and bread. Each combination plate was appetizing. The service was prompt and kept warm. I didn't observe the ambiance since this was a delivery.

My friend and I were looking for a delicious Mediterranean option in the area and decided to try Cafe Du Liban. A "Good Food Quickly" dining establishment located in a busy strip mall section off Ventura, Cafe Du Liban is a hidden gem in Tarzana, serving up amazing cuisine for 20 years. The entrance is fairly nondescript, but once you enter, you immediately see the open kitchen, order counter, and about a dozen tables and booths for diners to enjoy this elevated (but relaxed) casual cuisine. The staff were extremely friendly and answered a few questions we had about the menu items, specifically the Chicken sandwiches which offered wrap options of Pita and Laffa breads. He explained that he prefers the Pita Bread option as the Laffa is a bit thinner and actually priced $5 more. We each decided to take his recommendation and also ordered some vegetarian Cheese Pies as a starter. Also, check in through Yelp and you will receive 20% off your order! A nice perk. We sat down and waited about 10 minutes for the freshly made Cheese Pies to arrive. These came out piping hot, and actually forced us to wait for the temperature to cool off, or else risk burning the inside of your mouth. These were definitely worth the wait and avoiding the risk of "top of mouth burn." Served five to an order ($10), the filo dough is wonderfully crispy and soft once you hit that gooey blended cheese center. Absolutely delicious and a great appetizer to share. A few moments later, our Chicken Sandwiches ($12) arrived. The Chicken sandwiches were a pretty good size, filled with grilled chicken, tomatoes, pickles, and a very robust garlic sauce, wrapped in a delicious pita bread. The filling-to-bite ratio was spot on, with great sweet, garlic and savory bites a-plenty. The person who took our order, along with a fellow staff member, checked in on us a few times to make sure everything was satisfactory, which I thought showed great attention and care about making the experience match the amazing homemade flavor of the food. The bathrooms were also very clean and well-stocked. Parking is free out front, with plenty of availability, even during the lunchtime rush. I would highly recommend Cafe Du Liban and agree with a lot of the 5-star ratings here. It's always amazing to find delicious homemade Lebanese cuisine anywhere in Southern California, but to also have wonderful service, an inviting atmosphere, a friendly staff and very comparable pricing is truly something special. Cafe Du Liban is one of the best at encompassing all of these qualities and I will continue to support and share with others.

It deserves NO stars. Food was not not not fresh. The owner's friends smoke in tables and hang out there. Not eating just hanging out. Not professional and not clean. When mentioned that I couldn't eat because of the cigarette smoke, the owner/manager whatever she was, lied and yelled at me while I was trying to speak. So not only are they unconscious about the health department's basic regulations but these people are bullies too. So overall my experience was that this place is is dirty, unhealthy, dingy, with a serving of negative hostile energy from the people who prepare and touch the food. Yuck! I need an aura cleansing now. read more

Wonderful food, friendly people serving, really nice decor, and great cooking. We had the chicken laffa, Greek salad, lentil soup, and baklava. All were delicious, fresh, flavorful, and attractively presented. I'd go out of my way to come again. This is a family restaurant, well run, clean as a whistle. (Traveling thru Tarzan, we stopped for the night at Tarzana Inn, and it was recommended by the hotel owner. Just a short walk from hotel, too.) Memorable for food and fun experience. read more

This place is ridiculously good!!! I crave it probably more than any other restaurant. Everything is cooked to perfection and the small joint has a vibe suitable for a casual date or a delicious meal with friends and family. I literally use Cafe Du Liban ANY DAY I have to order a catering lunch, which is typically 3-5 days a week and I'm still excited about their food and that speaks volumes. Their food is on point and their bulgar pilaf and football kufteh is bomb! read more

Wanted salad and we ordered the fatoush and falafel. Was concerned about the heaviness from pita chips and falafel, the owner said it is very light. He was right. Delicious. Crunchy cucumbers, fresh greens. Hit the spot. Will be back to try the kabobs another day. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE!! My husband and I are regulars and eat here once a week now. We order the spicy fish plate with rice, a Greek salad (their dressing is the best I've ever had), and we get either the cheese or spinach borac. If you like Mediterranean food, you've got to try this place! Family owned, fast & friendly service, and delicious food- what more can you ask for?! read more

I've been dining at Cafe du Liban for many years, and I have never had a bad experience here. Come to think of it, I've never even had a bad dish. From the appetizers to the kabobs, to the more exotic items like beef tongue and frog legs, this is food prepared by people who know what they're doing and take pride in it. Scooping up some hummus with meat with their warm, unreasonably delicious laffa bread is a dream come true. Small, unassuming place in a Tarzana strip mall, family-run, great people preparing food that will make you happy. read more

This place is outstanding! It's a family-run restaurant and the atmosphere is very welcoming in a casual setting. All the food is freshly prepared and very delicious ... we have never had anything that wasn't good. For first-timers you can't go wrong ordering hummus (or hummus w/meat {we love it with chicken}), any of their kabobs (chicken or beef are equally delicious), or a gyros plate ... either of those dishes will keep you coming back for more. They also have several other dishes on the menu that are very good, too. You must also save some room for desert because their homemade baklava is awesome!! My wife/daughter are regular patrons here but it's also good to note that they can accommodate bigger groups/parties as well. We had several family members who were visiting from out of town & we decided to bring them all here for dinner (10 people). We ordered several things and they were able to serve it all "family style" on platters so everybody could taste all the delicious stuff. Highly recommend this place and we will be loyal customers for a very long time! read more

The food is delicious and affordable. We sampled several starters, soup, and salad. Everything was tasty. Highly recommend the spinich borac and Ras nana, the falafel was the best I ever had. I enjoyed the Almaza beer from Lebanon a refreshing pilsner complimenting the pervasive lemon, parsley, mint and garlic flavors of the meal. I have ordered from Cafe Du Liban twice and both times I was super impressed with the food, prices and the service. Recently I had Fattoush Salad, lentil soup and Spinach pies and everything was delicious! I ordered to go and everything was ready in 10 minutes. We absolutely love Cafe du Liban! The food is excellent, and the owners treat their customers like neighbors. Get their Lentil Soup (we like it with extra lemon) or the Greek Salad, with their yummy homemade garlicky dressing. If she's not too busy, owner Rosie will sit and talk with you. Ask her about her cooking! She loves to cook, and she'll tell you what's best today on the menu. read more

The Falafel was AWFUL... As a passionate food enthusiast who has had the opportunity to indulge in culinary delights from around the world, I must express my disappointment with the dining experience at this particular restaurant. Despite my wife's well-intentioned gesture of treating me to a Falafel Sandwich, I found the quality of the dish to be DISGUSTING !!! The Falafel Sandwich, comprised of falafels, tomatoes, parsley, turnips, hummus, and tahini, was a far cry from the delectable meal I had anticipated. The tahini had an unpleasant odor and taste, indicating spoilage. The hummus was so unappetizing that it caused me to throw up , the falafel itself was lackluster in flavor. Considering the exorbitant price of $140 for this meal, I was left feeling utterly dissatisfied. I would have preferred to indulge in a humble Big Mac from McDonald's over this disappointing fare. It is disheartening to see a restaurant capitalize on its location on Ventura Blvd to justify serving overpriced and unpalatable food. Upon seeking feedback from my brother regarding the Gyro Sandwich, his comparison to "Friday's BBQ leftovers on a cold Monday afternoon" further solidified my disappointment in the quality of the cuisine offered at this establishment. So I had to make these guys a yelp page cause it's only right! The best service and food you can honestly get! I love it! Rosie & Elie made sure everything was just right for us. We had probably the best leg of lamb i've ever had in my entire life it melted like butter in our mouths, the kabobs were grilled to perfection and the salad with their in house dressing OMGG!! Amazing! The homemade kibbi rolls and the hand rolled grape leaves were too die for and whatever Rosie adds to it takes it straight over the top and lands you right into heaven. The hummus and baba ganouj (sorry don't know how to spell it hehe) was great as well. Elie makes baklava that would put the any bakery too shame any day of the week and at the end of it they made you feel just like family. This is the only place i will ever go for my caterings! I had lunch here the other day and every part of it was a horrible experience. First, I waited 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me, then another 10 minutes for him to comeback to take my order. I ordered the falafel plate and it was disgusting. They were overcooked and you can tell that they don't change the oil in the fryer. As soon as the guy (only guy working in the kitchen) brought my food, he clocked out and left. There was a guy in the corner that was just zoned out watching TV on his phone who I figured was the owner or manager because after about 45 minutes past the time I finished my lunch he got a call for a phone order and passed by me while going to the kitchen. I could have easily just walked out without paying and without him noticing. read more

Here is why I only gave them only 2 stars.. We called for delivery and requested adding chicken to a salad (we obviously offered to pay). The guy on the phone asked the lady in the background and she replied "salad is salad, no chicken!". He came back to the phone and apologized. I wasn't asking for free food!! Just wanted to add chicken to our salad. Well, guess we can cross this place off our list of options. We stopped au Café du Liban for "a little bite to eat" in the afternoon, only to meet John (the owner) who recommended his chicken liver sandwich with home made laffa bread. We ended up eating home made snacks (pickeled cabbage, roasted nuts, falafel, chicken liver sandwich and backlava "on the house". What a feast!!!! The laffa was so fresh and the chicken lever sandwich so tasty! I'm not a backlava fan but I actually enjoyed theirs... Light and sweeten to perfection... (Usually over sweeten and soggy). The Mother and Father who started the cafe had such a unique Lebanese Cuisine Menu (Frogs Legs, Raw Meat Dish w/ Toasted Pita and a shot of Uzo, etc.) that was so different and incredibly tasty. The current menu is middle easter and has very good tasting food, but knowing what it used to be, kinda kills it for me going there. Had the beef kabob and it came with two sides. Not a bad deal for 13 dollars. I had the lentil soup and salad as my sides. The lentils were vey tasty and soft. The salad was a nice mix and had a great dressing on it. The beef, when I bit into it, came off with each bite. Did not have to pull off the rest of the beef. Tells you how soft the beef was cooked. The garlic sauce was delicious and the owner brought me my own side as well. The environment was very relaxing and the owner is a wonderful person.
