We had another delicious lunch here today. My friend and I both had the 1/2 sandwich, soup & salad special. (Iron Mike & The Sandwich.) And as always, everything was beyond delicious!!! The restaurant is super cute and service is friendly and attentive. Can't wait to be back soon!

My wife and I have been coming here for the last seven or eight years as we antique through the area. The smoothies are amazing and the food is always wonderful. I love their Thai peanut wrap and my wife often gets either a K2 or grilled beef and Brie sandwiches. We're here today at 1:30 PM and the place is almost full. Clearly a popular local spot. Ambience is nice and they also have seating outside.

OMG! Who would have thought that peanut butter would be so good on a veggie sandwich??? Obviously, they know!!! lol

Wow! What a great little restaurant. If you're ever down there, check it out! Especially now with all of the major road construction in Gardnerville. All of the businesses down there can use your business!!! I had a half Iron Mike Sandwich and the Curry Sweet Potato Soup. Amazing! Who would have thought that peanut butter on a veggie sandwich would taste so good? Super friendly service and they really appreciate the business

Yummy food! I ordered the sandwich, salad, soup combo. Grateful for a vegetarian option! The house made salad dressing, sandwich with a few different cheeses/ grilled veggie with fresh bread, and curry sweet potato soup were all delicious. My oldest daughter ordered a smoothie and they even gave us the rest of the smoothie from the blender that wouldn't fit in her cup for my youngest to snack on before the meal came. The bathrooms were clean and the restaurant decorated nicely. Service was very friendly and food came out quickly. They had some coloring pages and crayons which I always appreciate. I'll definitely be going back

This place has consistently won Carson Valley "Best of" awards over and over again for a reason...! This is one of my top, most-favorite places to eat lunch, and that's saying a lot due to the frequency I eat out and the variety of restaurants I experience on my business travels! I really don't think there's a bad choice you can make here, but I'll tell you about a few of my favorites. First off, their tomato bisque is what I think of and crave when I think of tomato soup and I often begin a meal with a cup of this thick and delicious goodness! Their iced tea is very floral and succulent which is also a regular for me to order with every meal. My top favorite sandwiches are (in no particular order) The Marcello (pictured) that is a sourdough panini pressed, Garlic Aioli, Havarti cheese, Turkey, Pesto, Artichoke Hearts, Roasted Tomatoes & Onion caramelized in butter, sherry and sugar served melty, gooey, warm and oh so delicious...! My next favorite is called "The Sandwich" which is the same as above, minus the artichoke and pesto. Iron Mike made as a wrap is an interesting sandwich and I felt uncertain how it might taste, but went for it several years back and wow!!! What an amazing combination of flavors...! Made either on wheat bread or in a wrap with peanut butter, avocado, havarti, cucumber, sunflower seeds, carrot, sprouts, spring mix, red onion, and a splash of their famous Marionberry vinaigrette; it's to die for...! I always get extra dressing to ensure some is in every bite...! Last but not least, their tuna is a step above how others prepare it. I'm not sure what the secret ingredient(s) are, but it's top-notch on either a sandwich or, like I usually order it, as just a scoop or two on top of their Caesar salad. The servers are all friendly and you are greeted with a smile each time you walk through the door! It's a smaller restaurant and often times folks are waiting outside for a table. The hours are not too standard; I recommend showing up before 2pm. The decor is nice, boasting art and oddities that the owners have collected over the years. Very warm and inviting. If you're in Gardnerville for lunch during the week, ask yourself if you want the best. If you do, here's your spot!

Neat little place that is only open for lunch. We waited quite awhile to be served (close to 1/2 hour)...seems like they prioritize the call-in orders over their on-site customers. I ordered the K2 and it really did not work for me. Sounded good on the menu: Turkey, brie, pear, caramelized onion, garlic aioli and black currant chutney, But, there were too many flavor profiles that did not meld well. That being said, give them a shot, based on the other reviews your experience may be different.

I felt like I was on a quest to find Cafe Girasole. I pulled up the Yelp app to try to find something in the area of which was unfamiliar to me. I found Cafe Girasole's menu to have a variety of Panini's which grabbed my attention since I was on a time constraint. To actually find the place, after placing it in my phone with driving directions felt like a mission impossible. I kept getting directed to the wrong side of the street and was an area under construction so I think I looped it a good 2-3 times then realized it was on the opposite side of the street. I parked on the side since I was just thankful to find the place. As soon as I walked in I was colliding with wait staff trying to figure out how to order to go and was guided to a small line of people at a window. I placed my order of Cheese Louise- which had Turkey, Pesto, Provolone. I was told the order will be brought to me when it's ready. I found some seating by the door and just took a breather from a busy Friday workday. As I took in my surroundings I found this place to remind me of something out of a Hallmark movie (I forget if this is one of the towns in which there was an actual Christmas movie filmed). But the guests seated at tables were sitting and visiting as if there was all the time in the world which I found to be refreshing. I was in a hurry myself so having had waited 20 minutes for a sandwich to go was puzzling. But the sandwich was tasty, it costs approximately $18 with a drink and tip. But being in this area reminded me of how cute they make it for the holidays. I think this place is great if you have extra time to hang and wait around but as for someone that was in a hurry that was not the case.

Lovely and much desired food! Great healthy selections and filling for the price. Great staff and service. Love that they ask if we want straws or not. Being a surfer from the Central coast of Cali, I try not to use much plastic ware for our environment. Sucks to surf in plastic trash. Love how this little gestures makes a huge impact! Always have loved the food here as a local. Favorite is the Marcelo, and their small side salad and dressing complete the meal. The women who work here are so sweet, making sure you're taken care of. Perfect lunch spot! read more

This is the best place for lunch in the Carson Valley, hands down. It's not fast food, and it's not fast food prices, but everything is very fresh and delicious. Most soups are prepared every morning (not days or weeks ahead-of-time), and everything made there is created using the freshest and best-tasting ingredients. From the addictive salad dressing to the unique daily specials, it's difficult to find fault with anything at this establishment. Perhaps the only thing one should take into account is that it is quite often packed to the fullest and since everything is made fresh, it can sometimes take a bit longer than expected to get your food. I never liked tomato soup until I tasted the Tomato Basil Bisque - it is incredible! The food at Cafe Girasole is big city, cutting edge taste in a small town, cozy, friendly atmosphere. Give this place a try - you won't be sorry! read more

Lunch with my mom for a Mother/Daughter Day. Cafe Girasole did not disappoint. This place is incredible. The service is kind and fun. Everyone here has a great personality. The food is more than excellent. The salad dressing is a secret recipe but man is it good. I devoured the salad, never have I had such a great dressing. The sandwich we had was called the "the Carson Valley Turkey"! Absolutely delicious! A must try. The food here is pretty healthy and yet you certainly don't feel like your missing anything. I could eat here everyday! Love this place! And not too pricey either! This is a place everyone needs to try. read more

This place is worth every single star. Wow! Homey feel, phenomenal service, unique flavor combos, and the food is so good! We would have never found this little gem without Yelp, as we are just passing through. Had some paninis that came with this tasty, light salad and now don't have to eat the rest of the day! Best sandwiches I've ever had. The 5 stars is for the food taste and quality. As far as their open hours, 1star. It sucks that the one time a year I visit up north and wanting to try their food, they're closed half the time. Minimum hours. I know it's a small town and all but they're on a highway with a lot of passerby traffic. Should open normal 8 hour or more days. read more

Nice, cozy little lunch place. Fresh salad, house made dressing, very good soup, nice menu, good tea. Felt a little rushed as it was about 30 minutes before closing. A couple came in after us and they were informed the restaurant was closing very soon so they would have to hurry and order. They left. read more

I wish you had more vegan options. You really could make some of your sauces without mayonnaise. Substitute vegan mayonnaise. It is sold everywhere now. And have some hummus or tofu or tempeh for your sandwiches and paninis and wraps: something that sticks to the ribs. It is 2019. Many people are looking for healthier, cruelty-free, environmentally-friendly options. read more

Roast beef sandwich was fantastic as was the side salad that accompanied it. Especially the dressing. We split the large sandwich to have room for desert. Ordered the Huckleberry Cheese cake, What a disappointment. Crust had no taste and texture (commercially purchased?) and the cake had a refrigerator taste. read more

Stopped here for sandwiches on our way to Reno. Great local find! Very cute and crowded, but parking is easy. The menu features wraps, salads, soup, paninis and desserts. All sandwiches come with a side salad. We both got the Carson Valley Turkey to go. Couldn't find the sundried tomato spread on bread that really didn't taste much like sourdough, but it was still a good sandwich. Service was pretty good, considering they were packed. If you are planning on being seated, though, you may need to be a bit assertive. I watched more than one couple stand in the doorway, trying to figure out whether to sit down or wait. A server said "I'll be with you in a second," then proceeded to pick up checks at two tables and clear another. The couple sat down at a small table by the door. Overall, good choice for lunch and far better than a chain restaurant! read more

Wow, great sandwiches! Glad I looked on Yelp for lunch ideas during a very long drive to Lake Tahoe. We also apparently arrived at the perfect time, right before noon. Seats fill up fast. I took the recommendation of other Yelpers and tried the iron mike sandwich. Huge fresh veggie sandwich on wheat with peanut butter! It was REALLY tasty. The homemade curry sweet potato soup and the tomato soup were good too. A little runny for my taste but the flavor, especially the curry one, was very very good. I also shared a few bites of a grilled panini sandwich. I think it was called Marcello - turkey, cheese, etc.. SO good! Service was good too. Clean small restaurant. 5 stars!! read more

Great food. Great service. We had the Chicken Caesar Wrap & the Chicken Curry Salad (house specialty) + soup Tomato Bisque (so yummy) !! All sandwiches & wraps are served with a nice house salad. Maybe have have to go back for the Tuxedo Cake! Definitely recommend if you are in the area. Only open for lunch M- F read more

While in town I was thinking about sandwiches for lunch and I looked up a sandwich place nearby. Well low and behold I found a 5 star place located right here in town! Well I had to try it, no question. We found this cute little Cafe and when we walked in we were told to take a seat anywhere we could find. It was a bit busy when we first arrived but thinned out as the lunch crowd diminished. One of the waitresses brought us some menus but they also have everything on large chalkboards on the wall. I was craving a good veggie sandwich and they actually had two choices. I opted for the Iron Mike and hubby got the Ponderosa Wrap. As you can see in my photos these are fresh made with fresh ingredients and look and taste fabulous. The service was great and the cute Cafe atmosphere was perfect for a nice afternoon of iced tea and sandwiches. So glad we stopped in here and if you are ever in the area you need to come check this place out. Homemade soups, wraps, panini, sandwiches, tea and coffee drinks with friendly service and smiles they have it all. They even have an outside seating area for those nice spring/fall afternoons. The Italian translation for Girasole is Sunflower and it fits perfectly you certainly leave with a bright smile and outlook on the day...at least I did. read more

Cafe Girasole is awesome! We are staying in nearby Minden for a work event and my husband found this restaurant on Yelp. We are vegetarians and this part of the world is really meat & potatoes! Happily we got our veggie fix here, though there are a lot of options for carnivores as well. Food quality is top notch. Over the course of both visits we tried the Iron Mike sandwich, Sweetwater wrap, and the Curry Sweet Potato soup and Black Bean Soup. Everything was amazing - fresh and creative. We loved the house-made marionberry salad dressing so much we wished they sold it in bottles! The service is very fast and friendly. The servers even recognized us on the second visit and remembered our drink orders. As out of towners, that was especially impressive! We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area! read more

There is a reason this place has won The Best of the Carson Valley! The food here is amazing! Admittedly, I have really only tried a few sandwiches, but the ones I have had are so amazing that they are all I want when I go here. The K2 sandwich is an incredible tasting sandwich that has a mix of flavors you wouldn't think would taste good together, but it is amazing. Also, the Okie Dokey Ham and Artichokey is amazing too. It's a bit messy, but if it's not messy, it's not good, right? You have to try this place for lunch! Be sure to look around as they have all kinds of different foods in there. We only recently discovered Cafe Girasole. It is a true Gem! Not only is the food wonderful, but it is very economical. Leslie recently (12/18/09) moved to larger, more central quarters at 1483 Hwy 395, in Northern Minden. Each of her wonderful sandwitches with side salad are only $7.95.The new location seats up to 30 guests, and is located on Mindens's main street.
