Amazing pastry and house music in the AM with patio seating? Sign me up every weekend!! Things are pricey but given the quality and the vibe/location, I'd say it's worth it. My favorite was the cinnamon roll (it's not overly sweet either). Would definitely try more pastry

Look at this latte! Also, I have never seen a croissant sandwich propped up with a toothpick like this to show the ingredients.

This new cafe is aesthetically beautiful and very spacious. I loved the seasonal Sakura latte, and it's great that they offer decaf, chai, and plenty of breakfast items like croissant sandwiches and toasts. Just a heads-up, they don't have Wi-Fi, and the cell signal is a bit weak for a hotspot, so it's better for socializing than working. I'll definitely be back to try more of their pastries.

CAFE HAGEN @ KIRKLAND Parking is street parking only, but it fills up pretty quickly. I highly recommend parking in their lot (it does cost you) or looking for free street parking along the lake, which is the same street the café is on. My friend and I stumbled upon this place while walking by, and the outside instantly caught our eye. It was so cute, the patio, the tables, the whole vibe. Inside, it was modern, clean, and really welcoming, so we had to check it out. They had a menu posted right outside, which I appreciated, and they offered a solid variety of coffees, food items, and all the usual bakery and café staples. We ended up just getting two vanilla iced lattes, which came out to $16. I tipped 25%, so it was around $19 total for both drinks. We were given a number, picked any seat we wanted, and sat in one of the booth areas. It was busy, but you could still find seating inside or outside. One of the staff brought out only one drink, and about 10 minutes later we realized the other latte had been sitting on the counter melting. No worries, I just grabbed it myself. It was a little watered down, but the flavor was still really good. It wasn't overly sweet, they didn't overload it with ice, and it was served in a nice glass cup since we dined in. I really loved how modern and cozy this café was. It felt like the perfect spot to grab a coffee or a pastry and work on my laptop. Even though there were a lot of people, the noise was just light background chatter. The staff was friendly, the ambiance was super nice, and overall I had a great experience. I'd definitely come back next time and try the food.

Order first then sit down kinda place. The selection of pastries was pretty good and fresh even though they won't reheat any of the pastries for you. The cashier was polite and prompt. The kouign-amann was decent and soft. Also ordered a couple Mac nut lattes, a croque madame plus egg add-on and the healthy skillet. The healthy skillet was somewhat disappointing as it was mostly tomatoes and seem to overpower the dish. All in all, happy to see Kirkland not just get yet another Mexican restaurant.

I was so excited to try Cafe Hagen and was a bit disappointed. We got there for breakfast on a weekend and the place was packed. We got the Breakfast Croissant, Croque Monsieur, Mokka and Hot Kakao. Our drinks were good, but took a long time to come out, we got them after our food. The Breakfast Croissant was good, the Croque Monsieur was disappointing. When we ordered, she said she would out it in to get the cheese melting. When I got it, the cheese on top had melted, but the cheese inside hadn't even started melting, in fact the center was still cold. The pastries looked good, I might be back to try them.

Lovely modern-chic Scandinavian cafe right by HeyDay in downtown kirkland. We were a party of 4 and came in for brunch on a Thursday but sadly couldn't find any indoor seating. It was super packed - understandable considering the time of day. Thankfully the weather was acceptable and we sat outside. Service was good. The coffees were excellent! And a favorite at our table was the almond croissant I'm gluten free and it would have been helpful if items on the menu were labeled. I asked if the avocado chicken salad was gf and it turns out that the dressing contains soy sauce which is a no-no, so they said they could sub the dressing to another one that doesn't contain soy but that's a little spicy. I said that was fine...Unfortunately though it wasn't a little spicy it was very spicy (at least for me and I typically have no problem with spicy food), so truthfully I didn't get to enjoy my salad or finish it. For anyone that can't tolerate spicy food, ask for the almonds to be removed. Nice place, check it out!

Listen, I don't know if what I had here was a Supreme Croissant or a chocolate schnecke, but it was HEAVAN! This half chocolate dipped yumminess was only bought after not a single slice of Chocolate Marble Cake was left. Also, what is up with that guys!? It's like everyone got the memo that it's fantastic. So, let's get back to this circular gift from the food gods. IT WAS DELICIOUS! And not only that I found out that their Kouign Amann is legitimately the second best Kouign Amann I've every had in my life (the best will forever be Midori... aaahh I miss that place) but I digress, did you guys see the insane coffee art these guys make! Love it love it love it!

IF YOU LOVE PASTRIES, LIKE THEY HAVE IN EUROPE, YOU MUST COME THRU TO CAFE HAGEN. I've loved Cafe Hagen since they opened their bellevue location. Makes me so happy that they opened one up here in DT Kirkland. Go to is a Croissant, Vanilla Latte, and any of their breakfast options are 10/10. No joke. And if you feeling European, get a croissant and dip it in your latte! Life Hack unlocked lol.

Loved this brand new spot! There is ample seating both indoors and outdoors, and the decor was clean and cute. I went during their first week - other than a slight hitch in a menu item name, everything went seamlessly, and service was super friendly. I got a matcha latte and the brunch board. The latte art was so pretty! The macadamia milk they use is pre-sweetened so the drink was a little too sweet for me even though I got no additional sweetener - just a personal preference. The brunch board was huge, and everything tasted super fresh and homemade. Loved the variety of items included, and I especially loved that they give you a (perfectly ripe) avocado + the mini waffle and cream was a lovely way to end the meal. Parking is not too difficult if you don't mind parking a little further away. Looking forward to trying some of their pastries next time!

This place gets a five for some of the wonderful vegan options like their tofu on their lunch menu. I'd love to see some yummy chocolate vegan pastry options. I would agree with the other reviewers say this is not really a Scandinavian style. It felt a bit more California meets Northwest. It's a very happening spot if you want action and energy, but not too loud. It works. If you want very quiet and not to be part of the sea scene, I would go to the café just to the north on the street to Sano I'll do more of an update as I explore their menu and put more photos. I'm really happy that it's here and I'm so grateful for having menu options for all different types of eaters. The coffee options look great, and they make their own cardamom and chai mixes.

My favorite place for a delicious and tasty Matcha! I LOVE their Raspberry cloud matcha, I keep dreaming of it. It is always super busy, but plenty of seating areas and family friendly! I love how it's by the water and downtown Kirkland so a matcha and nice walk is the ultimate combo. Their hazelnut croissant is also pretty tasty. Their employee that makes these drinks always eats!

I ended up parking near the small plaza with the UPS Store and Nothing Bundt Cakes, and it was only about a 3-minute walk to get there. When I walked in around 9:30 AM on a Tuesday, it was already pretty packed. There were a lot of people on their laptops, grabbing coffee, and just hanging out, it felt super lively. I love the overall environment of downtown Kirkland, so I was really excited to finally try this spot since it's been on my radar for a while. I was also meeting a friend, which made the experience even better. I ordered their pizza scone, and it looked so good, and it definitely delivered. It was warm, crusty, and had such a unique flavor combination. I've honestly never had anything like it before, and it just felt perfect for a spring morning. I also got a hot chocolate, which wasn't my favorite. It leaned more on the watery side. The space itself is really nice and spacious. They have plenty of seating in both the front and back, which is great whether you're meeting friends or getting work done. Their menu is also pretty extensive, with options like sandwiches, pastries, drip coffee, matcha, vanilla lattes pretty much everything you'd expect from a café. One thing I appreciated was how fast the service was. Our order came out in less than two minutes, which was impressive, especially given how busy it was. The staff were also super friendly, which always makes a difference. Overall, I really enjoyed the vibe here. Even though the hot chocolate could've been better, I'd still definitely come back and try more items.

I absolutely love their specialty drinks like honey cardamom, and a shakerato. The vibe and atmosphere is wonderful. It's usually social and low-key but never too loud. They have excellent food, matcha with option to remove sugar (not all coffee shops have this!). Generally, I feel like their staff is really great! Love the location minus the issues with parking being tricky for a quick stop, sometimes need to pay. I keep coming back here! With gas prices over six dollars and budgets getting tighter for so many the one thing that hinders me is their prices. Their baseline drinks are an average of $5.75 + tip. Quiche slice is $8 two hard boiled eggs near $4. Typical typically if I'm gonna spend almost $10 I'd rather buy a fancy drink like a bubble tea or go out for an appetizer and food. When you own your own espresso machine and Matcha at home it's hard to justify getting such expensive drinks unless there is that "I can't make this at home" appeal - housemade syrups, Boba, etc I do love that urban coffee lounge has pour over options which can be time-consuming and cold brew, which is delicious and also more time-consuming. I appreciate their presence in the neighborhood. Having lived in Seattle for so long with so much access to incredible coffee I appreciate urban coffee lounges level of expertise with coffee. It is more rare on the east side. (Zoka is great of course!) And I will keep coming back, but sparingly due to prices. (Am I the only one who feels this way? Let me know!) Dogs are not allowed inside, so tie them up or have a buddy watch them while you go inside. Parking is street or under an apartment complex near by.
