We visited Cafe Hagen in Queen Anne on a Sunday morning. It was fairly quiet before 11 a.m., but it filled up quickly right after. They offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (note that pets are not allowed indoors). They have a great selection of hot brunch items, plus pastries and cakes. The whole place is modern and bright. The coffee tasting menu is unique, offering latte and espresso flights, and pour-overs. We tried the latte flight, which comes with four adventurous, creative flavors--including a miso latte! Overall, they were a bit on the sweet side for my taste, but very fun to try. The pour-over, however, was phenomenal: deep, rich, and full of berry notes. For food, we had: * Almond Croissant: Perfectly crispy on the outside. I loved that the filling was distributed all the way to the edges, so you get some in every single bite. * Chicken Avocado Salad: A wonderfully light meal featuring grilled chicken breast and a light dressing. read more

I visited Cafe Hagen in Queen Anne on a Wednesday morning to get my coffee fix. It was a fairly quiet lunch rush after 11 am, and there were a couple of people working from their laptops. As soon as I walked in, I noticed the selection of pastries, hot brunch items, and coffee drinks. The coffee tasting menu looked enticing. If I had more time to leisurely work or talk with company here, I would have opted to go this more adventurous route. However, I did end up trying one of their seasonal menu items - the Sakura Blossom Cloud Latte. I customized this drink with oat milk, even though the foam has to stay as dairy. The oat milk added a nutty creaminess that I particularly enjoyed. There were notes of the sweet Sakura syrup with a slight saltiness from the cream foam that gives the drink its perfect balance. It was a refreshing drink for a pick-me-up and they only had it for a limited time! My only thing is that I felt some coffee beans at the bottom that may not have been grinded as finely but other than that, the drink was amazing and I would recommend as a good backdrop for a spring walk! read more

The coffee here is so good. I got a hot Vanilla Latte and it was super smooth and tasty. I also got the Urban Pesto Panini and it was so good. I ate it very quickly and enjoyed every bite. There were many people in this location on weekday. But luckily I was able to find a spot. The place seems pretty clean, but when they got me the latte, there's dirty crusted up vegetables stain on my glass. They remade me another one but one of the barista looked like giving me a look like I annoyed her which I didn't mean to but i definitely can't drink it when it's dirty. The decoration inside this place is so cute! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, with a mixture of different types of chairs. Was in town for a wedding and a friend who lives in the area recommended stopping by here for a quick bite and caffeine. I ordered the orange latte, and the subtle hints of orange and the floral scents in it were amazing. I also ordered the chicken avocado panini and it was delicious. I love that cafe Hagen is expanding. The place is nice and staff are nice as well. I mostly come here for the pastries because they look so good . I got a regular croissant, a chocolate croissant, a pear Danish, and a cruffin. I have a weakness for layers and these have layers!! I love peeling through the layers to eat them. They were all good in flavors. It definitely wasn't as good near the end of the day as it chewy but toasting them help. Flavors were on point as well. This was our first stop before we went to our AirBnB. My friend had this on our list of food places to eat and I have to say, it was a good choice. I'm all for eating healthy, too. Ended up getting the avocado toast with soft boiled egg and I want to say I got a specialty latte that was topped with dried strawberries. The avocado had way more greens than I expected but I still ate it. Everything was delicious. They have great customer service and keep their place tidy. This was my first time at this location. I usually go to the one on Thomas Street. It was of course busy, but the servers didn't seem to care you were there. I was extremely disappointed in my avocado and beet toast. It was much smaller than when I previously had it, and I'm glad that I had to take off some of the massive amount of onions to see the minimal amount of avocado and a huge part of the avocado that was inedible. Yum! We had a vanilla oat milk latte which was good. The breakfast looks great too, and I really want to try the blueberry cream cheese Danish. They had vegetarian options and plant milk available, but the plant milk does cost extra. I'd say prices were very high here. But the service was very nice and helpful and we found seats right away. The noise level was good, and they are open for a good amount of the day. Parking might be tricky at times, but we found some not too far away. Definitely worth checking out! read more

For food, I went with the Prosciutto & Brie Toast, which came on a hearty multigrain bread spread with fig jam. So if you're planning to do a long study sesh, I would recommend going elsewhere unless you want to keep moving your car. I had to have my jacket, wool socks, cashmere beanie, down vest & I'm still freezing. Almost every other person in the cafe also has their down jackets on while in the shop. I like the vibe in here. High ceilings makes the space feel bigger than it is without compromising the cozy atmosphere. They have sandwich offerings for lunch and an eye catching pastry case. I ordered a spanikopita croissant which was a flaky pastry roll with the essence of spanikopita but didn't really do either items justice. I'd try something else next time. The cinnamon unroll I tried was messy and so good. I also tried a sip of the almond cardamom latte but didn't dig it. It's very almond-y which isn't my jam. Glad I didn't order my own. I came here with a craving for waffles, but ended up getting the weekend brunch board because I could not decide if I wanted sweet or savory. $23 for food of all varieties (and you'll definitely have leftovers to take home with you). Then waited 35 minutes for the "cook" to make 2 eggs and each time FOOD WAS COLD. "oh sorry our cook was from another location". Let's not forget they were not busy at all. 2 other people were complaining as well because the service and attitude was DISGUSTING. NEVER have I received this from other coffee stores I go to frequently. Because they know me by face and are very kind to their guests. This cafe was packed when I arrived at the cafe around 11 am. I ordered the season special white chocolate based latte. Oh boy so delicious. So rich and not so sugary sweet. I love the fact that the menu is on the stand before you get in line as I feel many people sit and take time ordering when they reach the cashier. I also love that you passed the bakery glass case before cashier to view what is available. I ordered the Simon mousse toast. The toast was quite thick and little stiff and difficult to cut into it. After a rainy Christmas, she definitely brought her signature ray of sunshine the day after. Queen Anne neighborhood was bustling with pedestrian traffic soaking in the bright rays. This particular intersection has Cafe Hagen, a long time Starbucks and a Seattle OG from 1994, Caffe Ladro. This location used to be Teacup, Sorrentino's, Firefly, Luminette, Storyville Coffee, and now Cafe Hagen. The popular cafe was packed and the line looked daunting when I arrived. I admired the pastry case, all freshly baked from their production bakery, Freya at Pike Place Market. Many of the laminated pastries are gigantic, as I noted the larger sized pain au chocolat. Thankfully, no uppity hipster barista attitude. Both women handled the customer volume with finesse. I was surprised though that the largest sized espresso beverage was 12 ounces, not 16 ounces. My mocha was on the pricey side, but had lovely latte art, spot on temperature and balanced flavor. I ended up sharing a table with bar seating with two other patrons while awaiting Dawne's arrival. It was a great cafe environment where it was not exclusively a sea of laptops, but definitely with pairs and upward, including family groups enjoying lively conversation. There was a guy in front of me who wanted to pay cash but was curtly refused because of their policy. I got three drinks and asked for a double bag because I was riding a scooter. I just had a glorious and unusual brunch at Cafe Hagen. It was my first time visiting the tiny but pleasant space on Queen Anne. You order at the counter, get a number, and choose a seat from among the smaller tables and counter seats. The weekend brunch was simple and delicious! You choose between bacon, sausage, and mushrooms. I picked the bacon today but will try the mushrooms next time. It came beautifully arranged on a board with small bowls of scrambled eggs, a seeded half-avocado, hard cheese, honey-drizzled grapefruit, toasted bread, and a lovely danish heart waffle with folded into a bowl with strawberry sauce and what I think was clotted cream. Cafe Hagen location in Upper Queen anne! This site has been many things in the past including a Storyville Coffee location and a tea shop before that. Great savory menu that it shares with the SLU and uptown location. Tried the healthy skillet which comes in a cute (but blazingly hot) mini cast iron skillet. Pretty tasty scramble mix of eggs, veg and meats! The coffee is delicious here and tried the pour over ethiopian single origin. The baked goods as with all Cafe Hagen locations look absolutely decadent! I got the breakfast bun with sausage and loved it. It's a tasty breakfast sandwich, but also light enough to start your morning. I also got a coffee and I love the cute mug they put it in! The bakery items looked so good, so I had to pick one. It was hard to choose, but I ended up getting a rum ball. It had rich and chocolately - yum! The breakfast plate was VERY big, could certainly feed two people with smaller appetites. The grapefruit + honey combo was so simple and delicious, I'm definitely doing that at home now. Also, we subbed sausage for bacon. All in all a very simple but well made breakfast! I absolutely love coming here, but I don't always love the prices. Luckily you get what you pay for when I do stop by. Even better, the insides are open and cozy enough to bring a laptop and get some work done while enjoying your meal. The lines get long, but they have several places you can review the menu. I found Cafe Hagen on Saturday morning while in Queen Anne for an early morning swim. I had the marble bread and it was some of the best breakfast pastry bread I have ever had. So light and fluffy, and not too sweet. The coffee at these places makes me nervous because I find that most of them use beans that are more bitter than I prefer, but my iced americano was perfect. If I wasn't in a hurry I would have ordered more, but I will be back to get the full experience very soon! read more
