I had a wonderful experience. After being recommended to come here by a colleague, I was hesitant after reading some of the reviews. I'm not from here so this was a vey new place to me and convenient. It is obvious that this is a place to relax and enjoy real, made to order food. It is not rushed or meant to be rushed. I sat at the bar and received lovely service from an apparently busy bartender. The staff was very talkative and I love it when staff has a direct opinion on what to order! I've been going to Cafe Intermezzo since 2008 when I used to live in the area. It has been (and still is) a go-to place for tea and dessert, especially after dinner when most places are closed. I actually really enjoy the concept, and I love that it is aspires to a classic vision of the cafe 18th-century style (the page on the back of the menu is priceless not to mention the European language lessons playing on loop in the bathrooms). I really enjoy the extensive tea selection (especially the rarer teas like the dung ting oolong and the pai mu dan white peony) and the coffees. Really great alongside the rotating dessert selections that are always in stock and can cater to any taste. I think serving alcohol is a smart move to attract a wider audience and for the later evening, but I think it clashes a tad with the atmosphere. It can get a little crowded this way (I feel like there might be too many tables sometimes crammed together, especially in the back), and I think it doesn't always suit people coming in to chat over coffee and tea. Over the last few times I've come, I've been disappointed by the service. I've had servers change multiple times, as well as a long wait time for just a pot of tea. That night we went they told us they couldnt serve and coffee cause there machines were down which i thought completely sucked. So i ended up ordering some type of stawberry hot tea with some boston creme cake. I was sketchy about ordering tea here cause i never have and didn't know what to expect. But i was actually very good, and the cake was delicious. Unlike some of there cakes and cheesecakes they tend to be very heavy and very sweet. This cake was actually perfect, not to sweet and actually pretty light and quite amazing if i must say. I have really mixed feelings about Cafe Intermezzo. I love it, and I hate it. The Good: Menu has good variety. But it is the drink menu that keeps me coming back. The coffee is A+ as is the tea--and I am a tea snob. The atmosphere is wonderful and cozy and I love the outdoor covered patio. The Bad: Service. Plain and simple their service is consistently horrible. In one instance I waited over 30 min for water and a menu. Servers don't check in often, and I have seen tables come and go before I even got my appetizer. Also, their small tables are TINY. As in, you are out of luck if you have two entrees, two drinks, and two glasses of water. I suggest that you ask for a larger table when possible. As for prices, I don't mind the drink prices... but everything else seems a little inflated. My advice: Great place for a drink and a meal when you have LOTS of time. I love the atmosphere and the coffee / hot chocolate drinks are great. This was my first time having a meal there and I wasn't all that impressed. I had the caprese salad. It was OK ... They didn't use the right tomatoes. Instead of large, red, round beef steak tomatoes, they used small, barely ripe roma tomatoes and it barely had any seasoning or dressing. Not really all that great. My company had the greek salad and added salmon. He seemed to enjoy it but it didn't look much like a greek salad and was somewhat small in the dish they served it in, specially when they put a large piece of cooked salmon on top. There's no nice way to eat it. It needed to be served in a bigger wider bowl or plate or something. It's a nice place but I felt like we were eating at nowhere special based on our salads. read more

I came here on a Friday night and this place was packed! I guess all the cool people in their 20s and 30s hang out here. I love the laid back ambiance and eclectic decor. With the beautiful music, dim lights, and fantastic customer service, this high end coffee shop will keep you coming back. Try the Mexican hot chocolate and one of their fresh cakes! I am from out of town and someone at my hotel recommended, actually RAVED about this place and unfortunately I couldn't have been more disappointed. I walked in and there was one person in front of me at the cake counter. It took about 10 min for me to finally get my order in. Then I had to go around to the bar and hand THEM my order. It took another 20 min for me to get my one slice of cheesecake. I was still waiting for my chai tea latte. How long does it take to make a latte?? I finally got it and headed out the door. When I got to my room I tried my chai and it was absolutely horrible. I don't drink coffee so I have had a ton of chai lattes and this one was the worst. It tasted like water with a sprinkle of chai. For being a CAFE, this is absolutely unacceptable. If you can't pack a cheesecake and make a decent cup of chai latte in about 35 min, well... I have no faith in this place. I ate at Cafe Intermezzo in Dunwoody, GA the food was good. It is difficult to find from the parking lot, so if you are new be prepared to park and search for the restaurant. The lady at the front door, that escorted us to the table was very nice, but our waitress may do better in another line of work. Each time I had to ask her to speak up, with the music playing she refused to speak louder. Hearing her over the music made it even more difficult. We had to continue to ask her for the same thing over and over again. My cell phone died, so scanning and reading the menu on my cell was useless. She finally gave us a menu. Imagine being given a menu that appeared to be written in a 9 font. The letters were so small and difficult to read because the light was turned down for ambience. Turning on a light on my sisters phone and pass the cell back and forth to read the menu. I used to go to the origional Cafe on Peachtree and I really miss it. I will pass on going back to Dunwoody. read more

Got the hazelnut chocolate cappuccino with the tiramisu cheesecake. So good! Loved the coffee - wasn't too sweet or bitter. The cup was lined with the hazelnut so you could control your intake. Wish the cheesecake was a little more dense to balance the texture of the tiramisu but flavors were all there! Only downside was they are so so understaffed! The hostesses were both at the display case when we entered. A server had to alert them. Then our server took forever to get the menus, orders, and check out! My table only ordered two drinks and one dessert but we spend over an hour there waiting to get the paycheck. I don't blame my server though. I've been here twice with family. We've tried coming here to eat three times but the parking lot was full so we left. It's right across from Perimeter so it actually doesn't matter when you come, the traffic and parking is always a bitch. Best to have another place in mind just in case. First, let me just say that I want to like this place, I really do. I love the style, the mirrors, the patio the amazing cakes and pies, the fun and looooooooooong drink list. But for all the neat things this place offers there's forgetful waitresses, over priced fruit platters, and non crepe entrees that are only meh. A word of advice? Don't eat inside the restaurant during warm weather. They don't keep the A/C up and if you request it to be turned up they'll let you know they don't have control over the thermostat. Yeah okay.... Pasta dishes are boring and not worth the trip. Fruit platter appetizer is a handful of fruit. Not worth the money. The bread and olive oil appetizer is flavorless. Better use the butter. Artichoke and spinach crepe wasn't a hit. The pumpkin cake was amazing. The frosting was fantastic! I could feel my teeth rotting out of my mouth. Those goat cheese medallions are yummy. Just left from another fantastic afternoon at Cafe Intermezzo. It is one of my favourite spots to enjoy a good conversation with music, media and fashion bloggers. Looks like the menu has recently changed...like in the past month because I go there for a lot of meetings. The lovely person that attended to us was named Gary or Greg? Sorry, I should have remembered. He was very nice! Very patient and professional yet super friendly! That's always a plus. The staff at this location has changed for the better. I've really enjoyed my past 8 visits. Today I got an item that I have not ordered there before in the 3 years that I've been frequenting CI. I had a crepe... an egg, gouda+cheddar crepe and it was so darn good I'm eager to go back and have another. Better than my mother's and that's saying a lot! My new friend had an egg and cheese omelette with toast and raspberry jam (we like breakfast items at night). We of course couldn't leave without their famous desserts - I re-tried the turtle cheesecake and she had the heavenly lemon cake. Our meals were pretty big so we got to-go boxes. We sat on the patio - which is rare for me in the Georgia heat but the breeze was going and it had just rained... perfect setting. I had a blast. Hope to go again soon! read more

My favorite drink is a non coffee, called Hot chocolate berlin. It is so good I could that I would describe it as heaven in my mouth. If starbucks had coffee even half as good as this place I would probably be broke buying it every day. The cake slices are decadent and definitely full of flavor and density. The scenery of Atlanta is beautiful overall as well as the location that it is at. I adore the entrance, the scenery, and everything they have to offer. I ordered the cranberries with chicken and mash potatoes and I almost died because it was sooooo damn good! I loved the candle lit dinner I had with my boyfriend. The place is dim, so it has that romantic feel to it. The hot chocolates, drinks, and deserts are pretty good. Yes, I am aware of the how small the food proportions were and it is a CAFE, so I was still hungry after we ate. For how pricey it was, they still should've offered more. White chocolate raspberry. My all time favorite. Definitely get it! Had a lovely server at this location. I'd had a bad experience before at the airport location unfortunately. So this is my favorite location. The coffees are ultimately better than what us southerners are subjected to consider a coffee house. Say Starbucks or caribou. What started our as a nice brunch with my brother was virtually ruined by poor customer service. Food arrived before my black coffee (not a special order, just plain old black coffee). When I stated that the coffee took 30 minutes to arrive, the server corrected me stating that it hadn't been quite 30 minutes, that she's slammed, and doing the best she can. I requested salt & pepper for my eggs. The salt & pepper arrived after I had already consumed my eggs & 4.5 minutes after the request - not to mention the few minutes the eggs had already been on the table before the coffee came at which time I requested the salt & pepper. My eggs would have been cold had I waited on the salt and pepper. The server did have the manager remove the coffee from the bill, hence why I have not shared the server's name. I also left gratuity, as I served & tended bar for many years, during my youth. We all have bad days. I understand we are in the midst of a pandemic. Regardless - it should NEVER take 30 minutes to get a black coffee in a restaurant over brunch. A server should NEVER correct a patron over service. read more
