First time I came here, I liked the place. Then when I returned another time, I absolutely loved it. The brunch is delectable to me. They do coffee and temaki so well which is an odd combo, but I'd eat this forever. The service is quick and they are very attentive. Hasn't been that busy the last couple times I've been but I hope it gets busier!
We enjoyed various temaki (Japanese hand rolls), along with other food and drink, from Cuddlefish's restaurant menu and separate bakery and cafe menu this past Saturday. Everything was good, as was the service and ambiance. This is a fun and neat concept - unique to Atlanta - located in the High Street mixed-use development in Dunwoody/Perimeter. Cuddlefish originally opened in the old Brush Sushi space in Decatur in November 2022. Cuddlefish moved and opened in Dunwoody in March 2025. (Brush moved and opened in Buckhead in August 2023.) Cuddlefish is from the same Michelin-starred, award-winning folks behind Brush, Lucky Star, Momonoki, etc. (Jason Liang, ChingYao Wang, John Chen). Cuddlefish is on OpenTable, so you can book reservations there and earn points. Free parking is available in one of High Street's garages. The best place to park is in the garage that's in the same building as Cuddlefish. Enter the garage via Cross St. After parking, there's a convenient walkway that leads out of the garage that's only a couple storefronts away from Cuddlefish. The restaurant has a nice corner spot at High Street. Outside, there's a spacious covered patio. Inside, the temaki bar, dining room, and bakery-cafe all share a modern, open space. The bakery-cafe is small. We had a party of five, including a baby. Here's what my wife and I had: RESTAURANT: Sake Creations * Matcha Saketini sake cocktail ($14) Other Drinks * Yuzu Lychee Mocktail (off-menu, on the house; thank you!) Starters * Sweet Potato Chips ($6) - plum seasoning * Garlic Black Pepper Edamame ($7) * Crispy Tofu ($10) - Sichuan peppercorn, soy garlic, scallion Temaki * Chili Avocado ($7) - chili ponzu, chili paste, negi * Truffle Shiitake ($8) * Shrimp Katsu ($9) - pineapple, cantaloupe * Real Crab California ($9) - chili aioli * Salmon Tataki, cooked ($8) - Asian pear, shallot ponzu, negi * Yellowtail & Salsa ($8) - jalapeno cilantro, fried leeks * Salmon Tataki, regular ($8) - Asian pear, shallot ponzu, negi, ikura * Toro Uni Ikura ($25) * Salmon Ikura ($9) * Hokkaido Uni ($25) BAKERY-CAFE: * Matcha Tiramisu Latte ($7) - iced, oat milk * Matcha Strawberry Croissant Cup ($7) * Matcha Chocolate Cookie ($5) My wife and I each had five temaki plus apps. That was enough to fill us up for a meal. I probably could've had one or two more temaki. In general, every item was well-made and delicious. All of the temaki were great and all of the ingredients were fresh. The presentation was beautiful. My favorite temaki were the Toro Uni Ikura, Salmon Ikura, and Hokkaido Uni. My wife is pregnant, so they accommodated her with a free mocktail, cooking the salmon and excluding the ikura on her Salmon Tataki temaki. We appreciated that. Our table gobbled everything up. The Matcha Saketini was thick and heavy on the matcha. We did find it cumbersome to remove two strips of plastic for each temaki, but we understand why they do it (to keep the seaweed crisp). Sometimes, some of the ingredients would slide off with the plastic wrap, which was not ideal. I heard that if you sit at the bar, you don't have to deal with the plastic wrap (e.g., if you do a temaki tasting). The treats from the bakery-cafe were yummy. Service was excellent. All of the staff was polite and friendly. Thank you, Sian, Etta, and the Asian guy with glasses whose name I did not get. The name "Cuddlefish" is a play on cuttlefish, which is similar to a squid. Growing up, I ate dried cuttlefish from Thailand as a snack.
Was in the mood for sushi and this place has been on my radar for awhile. It's not close to me but I figured I'd give it a try for the all you can eat Temaki Takeover. I made it through about 14 different hand rolls (some not pictured) but they were really good! You can only order 1 from each section at a time for each round. The yellowtail scallion, the crispy spicy tuna, and salmon Tataki were my faves of the bunch. Service was quick for each round I ordered. They were prompt to check in on me and making sure I had everything. The restaurant set up is very nice and bright. They had good music playing to pass the time. I'd definitely come back maybe for just a regular visit.
I thought the service and ambiance were lovely but I was hoping for more variety in the menu. The winter melon drink was quite good. The handheld sushi looked adorable but tasted rather ho-hum. I hope they expand their menu and step up their sushi game. The coffee shop part of the restaurant seemed popular. I might go back and try a coffee drink or Japanese-inspired pastry.
I just realized I completely forgot to post this review! It was still sitting in my drafts when I was getting ready to post about my second visit. Everything here was fabulous! I especially loved the hand rolls, temaki, Taiwanese chicken nuggets, desserts, and matcha lattes. The lunch special is also an amazing value for the quality and portion. If you're in the area and enjoy Japanese food with a modern twist, this place is definitely worth a visit. I'll definitely be coming back!
Cuddlefish is a cool spot. I was there for a biz meeting. Our server James was very helpful. We needed to sit where we could use a laptop and he guided us to a nice seat. The food was awesome. I will def be visiting again.
Been wanting to visit cuddle fish for awhile. Trying both the cafe and restaurants. Cafe : this is where the location lost a star for me. The lady at the counter was not friendly, though she did make a delicious drink. Even my husband commented on how unfriendly she was We got two pasties, my husband got the margarita (which didn't list it had pesto and my husband hates pesto) , and enjoyed it despite the pesto. I got the everything croissant with scallion crème. I didn't really taste or see anything "everything" about it. Afterwards we moved to the resturant to try the food. The servers were wonderful and friendly, food came out fast. We ordered a few temakis and 2 appetizers. Both were tasty and fresh, we didn't get soy or wasabi with our "rolls" which is I thought how they wanted to enjoy them, but turned out we just weren't offered any soy as I saw another couple get their condiments. Despite that the rolls were good without. The resturant is clean and love the open layout. We enjoyed sitting at the bar watching the chef make the temaki.
Poor Service Felt Unwelcome I had a reservation for Thursday at 2:15pm and showed up at 2pm in normal, appropriate attire shorts, a shirt, and shoes. Despite the reservation, staff told me they "wouldn't be able to accommodate" me, even though there were plenty of open seats and I was fine with sitting outside. No reason was given, but as a Black male with dreads, it was hard not to notice the difference in how I was being treated compared to other guests. It was an eerie feeling how the hostess kept making up excuses saying even at one point the seats outside aren't available After asking to speak with a manager, we were finally seated but then ignored for a full 20 minutes with no service, water, or acknowledgment. When we asked, the waitress claimed she was never told we'd been seated. It felt less like an oversight and more like we were being made to feel unwelcome after pushing back. Dining out shouldn't feel like you're fighting to be served. I won't be returning. Attached reservation just for proof
Love all the handrolls. Flavors were great for most of them. My favorites in order are yellowtail & salsa, salmon tataki, American Wagyu, real crab California, eggplant basil, spinach tofu, and yuzu miso cucumber. I also love the starters including the Taiwanese chicken nuggets, tomato, and sweet potato chips. Would love to come again to try their matcha! Also good service and ambience here.
Wow I love this place. The atmosphere is clean and minimal but still feels very cozy. The cafe area is very cute. Th pastries all look incredible and I've gotten the black sesame latte both iced and hot, and it is excellent either way. The hand roll experience is perfect. I've dined for the all you can eat during Monday/Tuesday evenings and come for the normal menu. If you're coming for all you can eat, don't arrive hungry, arrive starving! With so many incredible options it's hard to choose each round but I was never disappointed. It may be one of their simpler options but the salmon Ikura is always perfect. The team here is also lovely. I was always greeted kindly when I arrived and waited on attentively. The hand roll chefs have been super informative and really seem to care about what they're doing. If you're near by, come. If you're far away, still come!
Was slightly disappointed in my experience at cuddlefish! We came on MLK Day, which was a holiday and a day off and we can definitely tell by the crowd. There was a line of people who came in after us but we were able to get seated at the temaki bar. Staff seemed over booked with the amount of people which could be why the service was a tad bit slow. We started off by putting in our drink orders which I opted to get the hojicha tiramisu latte with oat milk. This was a light drink, not too sweet. I think I should've gotten whole milk instead and maybe added something extra on top. Now, this drink took FOREVER to come out. By the time I got my drink we were into our third temaki roll which was a little disappointing. I opted to get the signature temaki set ($32). I enjoyed how they brought out each temaki one by one--kind of gave off an omakase vibe. My favorite was definitely the salmon tataki and the avocado chilli one! I'd like to comeback on a less busy day and see if my experience is different. Overall, decent aesthetic and free parking in the parking garage straight down from it.
This is a hidden gem. I'm always stop by here whenever I'm in the area. The place ambiance is very cute and nice earthy aesthetic. It has the cafe with delicious bakery items connected to the restaurant. I got the Hojicha Tiramisu Latte and it was delicious! It has the true roasted taste and not sweet, which I love. 10/10 On to the restaurant side, I sat at the bar by the chef. As you order, he makes each handroll in front of you and gives you one by one. I got the signature set $32 and all items tasted great. The salmon one was interesting, has lightly seared salmon, with ikura on top and with a crunch veggie underneath giving a good refreshing crunch. Also love the crab and scallop! I got the Truffle Shiitake, and it was ok, I found taste the truffle at all and the shiitake, maybe because it was seared, it was a slight bitter taste. Overall 10/10 experience and quality!
They were holding an event the day I went. Seating was disorganized and everyone had to get seated outside (no fans to accommodate for the heat). If they were going to hold an event inside and expect every customer to sit outside, they might as well closed down the restaurant for the event. Food took an hour to come and the service is so slow. Servers were clumsy and were walking around like they didn't know what they were doing. To end, there was also a hair on my pastry!

Hello, My name is Kameetrice and I have allowed YouTube shorts to influence me again!! After watching several shorts raving about this spot I had to check it out. A friend and I opted to go during the week and try the tasting menu called the Temaki Takeover. It is an option to try several items at a cost of $79 per person. With this offer you are required to sit at the bar, the max dining time is 90 minutes and you are limited to ordering 3 items at a time. Our server was friendly and provided great insight into the menu. We tried 4 of the 6 starters. I enjoyed all of them . We had 6 of the items from the Temaki bar section of the menu. The one that we did not try was American wagyu since we don't eat red meat. The crispy spicy tuna was my favorite. I will not bore you with our entire order . However . I will say that there were more hits than misses and we tried the majority of the menu. In addition to trying the food items I also ordered a matcha that was perfection!! Overall - great experience. Since my first visit, I did return to try the bakery section. It did not disappoint! The Hazelnut Chocolate Croissant is worth trying ! read more

Arrived without a reservation and was immediately seated at the bar. As a true foodie, I was excited for this unplanned visit! I took my time browsing the menu, trying to get a feel for what I wanted to try, and the server came by with a few great recommendations. I decided to try the miso soup, which was made with a fish broth--my first time having it that way and ordered a few rolls as well. Since I was seated at the bar, the chef was able to prepare everything almost immediately after I ordered. The food was definitely worth the bite! However, I did feel a little rushed. I'm not sure if it was because reservations were coming in, but I tend to eat a little slower and really enjoy the experience. With such a beautiful ambiance, I wanted to take my time, try one of the pastries, and perhaps enjoy one of the recommended drinks. Unfortunately, the vibe started to feel more like "to-go," so I wrapped things up. Overall, the food was delicious, and I'd definitely be open to returning. Next time, I'd love to experience the full ambiance and take my time enjoying everything they have to offer. read more

The food itself was tasty and definitely had some unique flavors, so that was the highlight of the experience. Unfortunately, the service really took away from what could have been a much better visit. We had to wait a long time to be seated, even though tables were visibly being cleared and becoming available. Once seated, the service continued to be slow, and the servers and waitstaff did not seem particularly attentive or willing to help when needed. The food also seemed to come out warm rather than freshly served, almost as if it had been sitting for a while before making it to the table. Overall, I think the food has potential and is worth trying, but the management and overall service seem to be the biggest issues here. Better organization, communication, and attentiveness from the staff would make a significant difference in the dining experience. read more

Came here for a weekend dinner and it was pretty easy to make a reservation online. The inside of the restaurant was clean and cute! The restaurant seems pretty spacious and open with the left side being a general table and bar seating space. The right side of the restaurant was a cafe with pastries. The dinner menu was pretty simple with starters and a variety of temaki to choose from. For starters, I highly recommend the crab and scallop! It was umami and eating it with their house made rice chips was delicious. The only thing I would note is that their starter portion is pretty small, so definitely order more starters if you have a bigger group. We got both the classic and signature sets. You are able to switch out some of the ingredients from your temaki set if you wish to. One set would be for 1 person, not great for sharing. The waiters that helped us were also very kind. It is a tiny bit of struggle to get the wrapping off the seaweed but once you get the hang of it, it is pretty simple. Overall, it was a great experience! I would come here on a date night or for a celebration just because it is a bit pricey. I would also come back again to try their cafe items! read more

Yes. Yes. 100000% YES. I went on a Monday for their AYCE handroll and although I didn't break the record for most handrolls in one sitting, I definitely got my money's worth and left barely able to walk. You're allowed to pick 1 roll per each category on their handroll menu (veggie roll is mandatory) but each roll was delicious regardless. Our server and chef were incredible so if the food wasn't enough to get me to return, the hospitality wins in my book! I also didn't get a chance to try their cafe but I have more of a reason to return! read more

Came in one night and was able to sit right away. I made it in time for happy hour which was delicious and wonderful pricing. I ended up doing lots of hand rolls. The staff was great and kept checking on me. Bright and clean restaurant. I can't wait to come back. read more

Cuddlefish was such a fun and fresh experience. We were seated quickly and ordered a set to get a good variety of what they offered. The fish was really fresh with a good rice to fish ratio. The plastic around the seaweed is a great idea to maintain freshness. The soy sauce came in a mini spray bottle, which is innovative but I'm not sure how clean it is if everyone has to touch it over and over again. The inside was very clean with a lot of sunlight! I wish I had time to try their cafe items. read more
Fresh hand roll lunch tasting in an elevated and clean atmosphere. Loved the attached bakery/cafe. My friend and I sat at the bar, and it is always fun seeing a sushi chef practice their craft. I wished the chef introduced the hand rolls to us. That took a bit away from the experience. My favorite dish was surprisingly not a hand roll, however. I loved the appetizer popcorn chicken. The chicken is covered in this dry rub seasoning that had cumin in it for sure. The hand rolls were all decent and fresh. I enjoyed the salmon roe the most. The bakery and cafe are great additions to this space. All the pastries and sweet treats looked beautifully made. The matcha tiramisu drink tasted rich and they did not skimp out on the matcha powder! The cafe also has a really cute merch section that would make great gifts. read more
3.5 stars *** They don't take reservations.. weird not a fan of that at all as a planning girly, service was.. well.. pretty awful! We started off strong with awkwardly standing at the front as the workers stared at us for a short while until they decided to seat us.... Our first server was great. Super attentive, explained the menu, and noticed we were celebrating so offered a desert at the end of the meal, she was great. THEN she left (noooooo) and our 2nd server... he did not want to serve us. Fair, we all have our bad days but we felt like an inconvenience to him. As for the food, everything was honestly amazing! The sides, rolls, drinks were all delicious! Tucked away in the suburbs of Atlanta, Cuddlefish is a dual hand roll restaurant and aesthetic pastry/coffee shop. For a sushi and sweet treat lover, this place is heaven! The sushi restaurant itself touts a made-in-front-of-you model as you order your hand rolls. These were delightful with a side of a drink or just casual conversation. The non-alcoholic Apple Sidra was amazing, and I recommend it with the matcha. Don't knock it until you try it. The coffee shop is in the same building and pastries can be ordered to your table. Dangerous! We were there for a weekday late afternoon lunch, so there were only a few seats and service was still a bit slow. However, we had a great experience and will absolutely be back when we're in town! read more

Tried out Cuddlefish today for their lunch special. For price on paper, the lunch special was a good deal. 3 hand rolls, 2pc crispy tuna roll, taiwanese popcorn chicken, pickled cucumbers, and a small dessert. However, the portions are small and leave me still hungry. This is a GLP1 serving. The taste was good overall Beyond food, service was horrible. Took over 10 mins before I got water and my order placed. This would be fine in a busy restaurant, but there were only 4 tables present. Took another 30 minutes for my food to come out. The manager had to remind my server to check on my order status. After eating, I waited another 10 minutes for the check. The two wait staff were on the other side of the bar talking the whole time. After making lots of eye contact and finally verbally asking for the check, I left underwhelmed with the experience. Food wasn't satiating. Service was lackluster. I can't imagine how poor the service is when busy if this was my experience during a slow lunch. read more
Cuddlefish has taken over my social media feed! I finally got to come try their seasonal Valentine's cafe menu and I cannot wait to come back! I got the Strawberry Tiramisu Matcha Latte and I am blown away!! The taste was magnificent, but the presentation was to die for!! The cafe is absolutely precious and tucked to the side of the main dining restaurant area. The drinks are crafted perfectly. I will be back for this amazing service and selection. read more

I had really high hopes for this place because I kept seeing it all over my Instagram and TikTok feed however, I was a little bit disappointed in the food. I felt like the flavors were all a little bit off and only one out of the five hand rolls I ordered were enjoyable. We also got their Matcha as well and I will say it tasted mostly like milk. However, I do wanna give it three stars because the ambience inside is extremely airy and bright and a very good vibe. I also know that they're a relatively new restaurant so I believe I can get a lot better. read more

I've tried this place twice and both times were disappointing. My frst visit was at the cafe and I got the tiramisu latte and my friend got the match tiramisue latte. Not only were both drinks overpriced and small, but it also didn't taste like tiramisu. The tiramisu latte was just chocolate milk (similar to Milo) and the matcha tiramisu had no hint of tiramisu. My second visit was for dinner at the restaurant. I made a Saturday dinner reservation as I expected it to be busy. Even Resy process felt unnecessarily strict. I got daily text and email notifications and they even had a $20 per person cancellation fee. When I arrived, the restaurant was completely empty. There was no hostess in sight, and after standing around awkwardly, the only staff, the chef at the sashimi bar, waved me over to sit at the bar. The server was also nowhere to be found, so the chef ended up taking my order and then ran to the kitchen to find someone. I ordered the poke bowl (the sushi rolls looked too messy) and tried two cocktails - the GA Peach and the Strawberry Yuzu. Unfortunately, neither tasted like their names. I got very faint hints of fruit flavor, it was basically plain sake. The poke bowl was small and drenched in soy sauce, which overpowered everything. For all the hype I expected much better. read more

I came here with a girlfriend on a late morning/early afternoon on Saturday. We ended up sitting outside which was nice at first but once the sun came out it was a bit unbearable lol. We wanted to order strawberry matchas but their menu is a bit confusing so they couldn't really make those. The only type of matcha they had was with jasmine tea and I'm just not a fan of jasmine tea so I opted out. My friend got the tiramisu latte and I ended up getting the caramel banana latte. Both were ok nothing too exciting. For food I got the crab and scallop and crispy spicy tuna temaki. Both were pretty tasty just super messy to eat. I preferred the crab and scallop a little more. My friend got the spicy tuna and shrimp katsu temaki and she liked hers as well. Overall this was a cool place that I might try again but not gonna rush back here. read more

Cuddlefish is a cute new sushi restaurant with a nice cafe attached! We had dinner plans with friends but I decided to come earlier to enjoy the cafe and read a bit. The cafe section is a pretty tiny with only 2 or 3 tables indoors, so I don't think it's a good place to read or work, but I loved the drink and the pastry! The matcha there is sooo good! I love how they mix it with jasmine tea - it might be one of the best matcha combos I've had! The pastry was also really good too. After our friends got there we went over to the restaurant for dinner. We had the popcorn chicken and edamame for apps - they were pretty standard, and then we all got our own hand rolls. The rolls have instructions on how to unwrap, but I feel like we still had to unfold very carefully to not spill everywhere. The fish is super fresh and extremely filling so I loved that part too! Out of the rolls I tried my favorites were the salmon tataki and crispy tuna. I also liked the sweet potato katsu, which my fiance got. The service there was also great! Since the restaurant is run where everyone splits all of the tables, we always had someone checking in on us. Overall I'll definitely be back for the cafe! I loved how the rolls tasted, but I'm not sure if this will be a place I come back to often since the rolls were messy and hard to eat. read more

I only came for cafe service not the restaurant so that's my review. The cafe is beautiful inside. I came in the morning when they opened and everything was nice and clean. It's cute decor and was all set up for lunch. There's some nice tables inside and outside and it's located in a pretty area. Note there's not parking right outside and you have to go the garage but it's free and easy garage parking and a short walk. I got the mocha cinnamon roll because it looked great and it definitely wasn't a typical cinnamon roll. It was delicious and fresh. I also got the matcha with strawberry puree. This I was good too but not as impressive or unique as the pastry. The cashier was very friendly in helping my decide what to get. It seems they also have a rewards points program. I'd definitely come back again to try more and relax. read more
Very beautiful space! We got the jasmine matcha latte, tiramisu latte and a matcha tiramisu latte. The jasmine matcha latte was pretty fragrant but the matcha flavor wasn't a strong. The tiramisu latte was so good! Fragrant and strong coffee. The tiramisu matcha latte was also okay, it was not as fragrant and strong in matcha flavor but the tiramisu was good. Our waitress forgot that we ordered and came back to ask us if we were ready to order. The only reason I mention this is because I had her the first time I visited and she kept forgetting to bring things we ordered. We also did not have any water glasses at the table and had to get our own silverware after asking twice. The food tasted pretty good. The chicken nuggets were a bit too salty and the wagyu on the roll was over cooked. Not a lot of drink options and only had cold sake. The yellow tail and salsa was the best thing I had. Not sure if I would go back since the second time was a miss too. It was a clean looking place though. read more

Came here on a Saturday for lunch with a friend who loves this place. The location is convenient with a few different parking options. The restaurant is bright and welcoming. The staff was ok. They didn't offer us soy sauce which I thought was weird and didn't really check on us after taking our order. The crab & scallop dip was delicious. The temaki was ok. It's all cooked, and I prefer raw sushi. Also I felt like the plastic wrap on the nori and needing to remove it was unnecessary. I prefer hand rolls that are actually fully rolled in a cone shape. This place makes them look like tacos and it spills everywhere. I believe the idea is temaki is to be more convenient than maki, but this definitely is not. Probably won't come back unless someone else insists. read more
