Overall food was average, with poor customer service. We ordered the breakfast power bowl, egg white omelet, classic belgian waffles, and classic french toast. For the breakfast power bowl, the beans were cold and it seemed like they were cooked from frozen. There were barely any eggs, and most of the dish was the beans. The egg whites were extremely bland with no seasoning. There was some asparagus that seemed uncooked as well. However, the sweeter dishes - the belgian waffles and french toast - were well done. The belgian waffles were a tad too sweet, but overall good flavors. other than the food, customer service was not the best. All our servers seemed very unhappy/not the most polite. Went into Cafe Intermezzo this morning for a coffee. It is a really cool spot located on the ground floor of an apartment complex just south of Broadway (demonbraun and 2nd). The atmosphere in there was mid century European, and while I've never been to Europe this is what I'd imagine a cafe would look like there (as seen in movies lol). They have a coffee bar and open kitchen concept. I ordered a mocha (large) and it was delicious. Rich and creamy, made to perfection. They have a real authentic espresso machine (the type that costs like $30K) and the barista makes all of the espresso drinks by hand. The only downside to the place is the price (it cost $9 after tax for a large mocha) so not a place I can frequent too often, but I definitely want to come back to try some of the food. After showing the manager multiple facebook posts from my condominium building group saying specifically that Cafe Intermezzo gives the local discount he told me he is "not trying to argue with me, has never heard of the Encore and they have never given that discount ever." It was the gaslighting for me since they most certainly have. He must had not be hired yet when they did. The other restaurants around the area give the discount or if they don't they are so sympathetic and don't have me walking out feeling like i never want to step foot in there again. Even if you're not a local this management will not be taking care of you. This restaurant lacks customer service. This is one of the nicest dining experiences I've ever had. It's and ideal date place and will be our new favorite cafe. Staff - Absolutely wonderful and polite. Atmosphere - cozy, warm. Food - Spicy Seafood dip, that wasn't spicy, but very creamy and served with a fresh baguette. An excellent appetizer. Salmon Oscar - perfectly cooked with a light Holland side sauce. Very fresh end tasty. Chicken Saltimbocca - if you like garlic, this is an excellent dish. Very rich and flavorful. I loved Cafe Intermezzo before Covid-19 hit and now love it even more! I attended their opening night event post shut-down and had an exceptional time. I took one of my best friends and everything from the service to the food was outstanding. I especially loved my server. He was so kind, thoughtful, patient with us as we are very chatty and sadly did not order food right away, and informative. He knew the menu backwards and forwards and sold me on some food that I typically do not try because I am very picky. I absolutely loved this place. I was with a group of 5 and we needed a late coffee fix (more specifically me). I just wanted a coffee to-go and yelp recommended this place. As we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised by how beautifully decorated it was inside. We also saw a large display of the many different cheesecakes/cakes that they had. So we decided to dine in instead, I ordered A Cuban latte and we shared an Oreo cheesecake. My friends got their own alcoholic beverages and enjoyed it. After dinner we wanted to stop somewhere for coffee and dessert. This was the perfect spot and exactly what we were looking for. We orderered a vanilla latte and hot chocolate. You could tell this was not your ordinary hot chocolate. It had a thick layer of whipped topping and was sprinkled with white chocolate chips. The vanilla latte was delicious! It was truly the best coffee I have had. After we got our coffee we took a "tour of the desserts" and every one of them looked amazing. We settled on the oreo cheesecake and the white and dark cake. We were not able to finish them because the portions were extremely generous. It was so nice to come in from the freezing cold and enjoy some hot drinks. The atmosphere was so warm and inviting. We came by on Valentine's Day without reservations, hoping to just grab some dessert. We got lucky and were able to get a small table right by the entrance! Although the hostess was busy, she was nice enough to spare a few minutes to answer any questions about the cakes on display. I'm pretty sure she said the tiramisu was imported from Italy and that the cheesecake was from Juniors (NY). Wherever they were from, it was delicious and a wonderful experience. I can't believe they've had a location in Nashville for over a year and I just found out about it! I've been in Atlanta previously and loved it so much and the Nashville location was just as amazing! It's such a classy place - the space is perfectly decorated with so much attention to detail with the classic old European style vibe. TLDR: a sweet little cafe joint, part of a chain, great for a date place or to catch up with a cup of coffee with an old pal. Plus nearby parking deck! Prices for a cafe are a little steeper. We walked in not knowing where else to go because of a lack of parking in downtown. This cafe has a parking deck right behind it that you can park at for a few $ an hour. There's a couple of Intermezzos in Atlanta, but this one was a lot more spacious than the intimate, tight seated ones we have here. This location is probably better for families. I ordered a Hazelnut Latte ($5.50) and my friend ordered a Cappucino Intermezzo ($5.50). With tip, our two coffees came out to be about $14.50. For the environment, the prices are fair and the espresso drinks were perfect for a cold day but they were nothing to write home about. It took them about 15-20 minutes to get our coffees, so I wouldn't say this is a good place for a good pick-up. I personally think it tasted like a less sweet Starbucks, but I still enjoyed my short experience at this Intermezzo! You go for the ambience (and cake), not necessarily the food and beverage items. read more

I've lived downtown area of Nashvílle for last 5 years and stumbled across this restaurant one afternoon. It is a hidden gem! the food was fresh and service was outstanding.
