Stopped here after dinner for dessert and hot chocolate, fell in love We had tres leches, creme brûlée, tiramisu and the wedding cake, all were melt in the mouth good! I have been wanting to try this place for a while because of the good reviews and my friends delicious looking posts! We went on Sunday 6/9 and were surprised to see it relatively slow for CMA fest weekend. We had about 30 minutes until the next band we wanted to see and figured that was perfect timing for a quick drink and snack. We were very wrong We ordered 2 drinks (mimosa and coffee) as well as a meat and cheese plate as soon as we sat down. The drinks arrived within a reasonable time frame. About 25 minutes after we ordered, our server (Violet), assured us our food would be out soon. During this time the table behind us received a delicious looking dessert (frutti de bosco?) which we promptly decided to get. The tart arrived immediately and was wonderful. We finished the tart and waited another ten minutes (about 45 mins after we ordered) and our server came out to tell us they were out of one of the meats. That was fine. Another 15 mins pass and finally, we received our board. It was excellent! However, at this point we've missed the concert and waited over an hour for a charcuterie. When we left we noticed our server was in the kitchen playing on her phone and I can't help but wonder if this was part of the reason our service was terrible. Tl:Dr: I would go back bc the food was delicious but an hour to make a charcuterie board in an empty restaurant was very off putting. read more

Cafe Intermezzo has the best staff in Nashville! They also have great espresso drinks and cocktails. The bar is my favorite place to sit; there are only a few seats and I always end up striking up a good conversation with someone new, or catching up with the bartender. My favorite dishes are the egg white omelet, the garden salad (add salmon cooked medium), and the chicken salad croissant. They've recently updated their menu, so there are some fresh new items as well, such as the avocado toast, that are delicious too. If you are looking for a quieter stop off Broadway, a late night nosh, or a great breakfast cafe, this is the spot for you! read more

This cafe was a delightful experience. If you can, be seated on the outside balcony. The people watching is excellent and is a very strong second to the amazing pastries and coffee drinks. My friend and I had a wonderful experience. However, although it didn't seem particularly busy, our server was a little I attentive as we didn't even receive napkins and she wasn't present to ask for them by the time we finished our desserts. This place is brand spanking new. Service is good atmosphere is good but tables are small and so is the seating. Desserts are great and coffee as well. My friend asked for soy milk with the coffee and did it get it. Unfortunately he didn't notice till halfway through the coffee because the roast was a little burned. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for being new. read more

What a lovely place! I have been here several times and have always been blown away at how exquisite the experience is. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food, coffee and desserts are all good too. My only fear is that not enough people know where it is located. When I have visited they are almost always empty. It could very be the time of day I am going as I know that business picks up later in the day. They are kind of tucked away and near a bunch of construction on 1st which doesn't help. The parking is also limited in the area unless you want to pay a ghastly amount at the parking structure at 222. it is not there fault of course, but it makes it difficult for folks who are driving in to find a reasonable place to park. I hope they continue to do well and stay open for years to come as it is such a special place. read more

This is my new favorite spot! I love that it is open past 12am since there's not many cafes that open late in Nashville. The drinks are my absolute favorite, I would recommend the alcoholic hot coco, it's sooo yummy. The interior is so pretty and well decorated, the lights are dimmed so it's a perfect date spot. The best thing this place has going for it is the atmosphere. It definitely differs from traditional Nashville night life. Which is welcoming to me!! It has amazing lighting, and adorable patio with authentic European style patio seating. The service was fine and the place was clean. The food on the other hand was a bit less than average and overpriced; honestly, that's to be expected in that area though. I ordered a side of avocado and was brought a frozen half avocado. I couldn't even bite into it. They took it back and said they "tested" it and that it was just "chilled". They said they would bring me a grilled avocado which was a frozen avocado grilled! Lol! My husband and I couldn't stop laughing about the whole thing. How odd! Another weird thing is my drink that was supposed to have dark chocolate shavings, clearly just had chocolate chips. perhaps over the years things have gotten sloppier? So... I usually really like this place and they have good tasting cakes (we've been here several times), but unfortunately Café Intermezzo didn't quite deliver at all this evening. We decided to come by just for dessert, as we have done on a few of our visits, and we tonight were two of the four guests. The espresso I ordered came as only just a single teaspoon, and then the small cappucino that was ordered was essentially all foam and no drink. When the bill came, we were charged for a large cappucino ($7.70), so we sent back the bill and then the "corrected" one came back, which had now overcharged for our dessert. We paid up and left leaving the bill the way it was, but something about these small few dollars added on didn't sit so well with us as we walked back to the car. The combination of these few small things sort of make us feel like we weren't really cared about, and that's disapointing as we have certainly enjoyed our other meals/experiences here. Not sure if this billing thing was a computer issue or intentional, but for now, I'm not entirely confident that we'll be back for a while, and it won't be on our list of recommended places for people to visit (or at least with the same level of enthusiasm I had prior to this evening) read more

Walking by we were drawn inside by the inviting warm decor and the smell of cappuccino. We were impressed from the moment we arrived. The hostess, Sarah, was accommodating, friendly, and knew all of those delicious looking desserts in the front case. Cory, our bartender was so friendly and accommodating, we had s great chat, and Lindsie, the barista, made us excellent cappuccino and espresso concoctions. I love Cafe Intermezzo! Reminds me of an upscale European Cafe, only newer. We went for brunch on a Sunday and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We were delighted that breakfast items are served all day. We enjoyed the Croque Madame and Eggs Benedict. I also ordered a specialty cappuccino which was perfect. The cakes and pastries were lovely and our server let us know about some specials ($10 for specialty coffee drinks and any pastry, as well as $5 mimosas and bloody Mary's) Our friends have visited the Atlanta locations and they have been so excited that Nashville finally had a Cafe Intermezzo. We are too and we will definitely bring out of town visitors to this fine Cafe. read more

I live downtown and was extremely excited about this restaurant opening. I got the pasta, but it tasted like pasta out of a box and sauce out of a jar. For a $14 entree, I expected more. Most of the Cake is Dry. Otherwise good food. BUT I CAME HERE FOR THE CAKE. I have gotten the eggs Benedict, the omelette and the avocado toast. My favorite of those three is the avocado toast. If only the cake wasn't as dry as the Sahara. read more

This is a very nice place to eat, and especially have a nice cup of cappuccino with a nice piece of cake. It wants to have the ambience of a Vienna coffee house - that of course is hard to achieve outside of Vienna. But it does a good job of coming close, a nice interior and friendly staff. We had cake which was really good, my cappuccino was very good, only my wife's chilled coffee lacked in taste a bit. The cake selection is good, a bit too many cheese cake variations but overall one of the best selections I've seen in Nashville so far - and the ones we had did not disappoint.
