Truly a hidden gem in Nashville. We've lived here two years and had no idea this place was here until we walked by it. It has the BEST patio to relax on and have a cocktail or coffee! They are drink alchemist and have an AMAZING variety. Dinner was soo soo tasty! The spicy tortellini is the best! Don't miss out on the cake tour either! We tried the Cannoli cheesecake and it was mouth watering. I imagine all the cakes they have are the best! We ordered the Brie and Mushroom Beef Burger and the Tomato Basil Pasta and it was the best food that I have eaten in Nashville. The burger was perfect and rich with the best, super soft and buttery bun. The pasta was basic in the best way with tomato sauce and mushrooms- the kind of pasta you crave! We met and chatted with the new GM Amir and he not only was super nice but gave us some useful info on Nashville in general. This is one of my favorite places to visit whenever I visit Atlanta so when I heard we were getting one in Nashville I was stoked! I have to admit the only time I come is for brunch or just for dessert after a dinner out but the sweets are always great. This location definitely is a bit smaller and has a smaller selection of desserts. The big win here is the bartender Lilly, she is the best! Would highly recommend stopping in for a drink with Lilly and grabbing a piece of pie or cake while you're at it! read more

My partner and I often enjoy trying new places. We're locals, big foodies, and love to drink. I'm not a type to leave feedback but today was the day. I had friends who recommended this place and told me about their splendid experience here although my partner and I left extremely disappointed this Sunday evening. We read the glorified reviews and were excited to try out such a highly rated restaurant but felt that nothing except the concept and interior design actually lived up to the hype. Approx. 6 total customers at the time of entering. We were not initially greeted. A typical bartender, with a sarcastic response says we may sit wherever we want because "the place is just so busy.." She was charming but it just felt awkward for your first time walking in. Michael, our server who never told us his name, was a sad quiet man. I actually felt that his depression rubbed off on me. The seafood dip was delicious, however, we needed to order more naan bread for additional $4. Unfortunately, by the time it came out, the dip became too cold to enjoy with our hot bread. So don't do that. We had two glasses of wine. My partner's glass had a bug swimming. (Understandably sitting on the outside deck, but the bug was noticed upon it being picked up) My red wine was inappropriately chilled with lipstick still left on the glass. As my server had promptly already left, I immediately went in to simply request from the bartender another pour into clean glasses. Upon her return she apologized with the reasoning of the bar being too dark inside to see the glasses and asked if it was ok now. At this point, we accepted our glasses and proceeded to believe this was something they could not fix since she took a cloth napkin to wipe the glasses beforehand and we were now forced to drink noticeably swimming napkin lint in our wines. Michael asked the other people outside dining next to us how their wines were because he must of misunderstood what actually happened here. The caesar salad with salmon was decent. Salmon slightly overcooked but the well seasoning covered up the dryness. The tomato basil pasta was average. The grilled chicken made it fairly better. The sauce is more chunky than saucey. Kinda basic but much more flavorful with the chicken, though. The drink menu is a bible compared to the front and back menu. If your server is persisting on getting our drinks, maybe they can make a recommendation? We sat outside but don't do so unless you want to woo with the pedal taverns, hear tiny men on their motorcycles rev their engines obnoxiously along with the across street construction, and like to yell over the restaurant's music speaker... Overall, $87 and 20% tip later, we paid full price for looks rather than service and quality. Maybe it's our own fault for previewing an expectation through the reviews. I hope this place reaches it potential someday soon for our willingness to give it another chance of what could be a lovely date spot. read more

We spent an evening in Nashville to attend a show at the Bridgestone Arena. Decided to have breakfast the following morning and Café Intermezzo was close to our hotel. So so glad we chose this restaurant. Labeled as a "European Coffeehouse inspired by 19th century Vienna" which is the vibe you get when you walk inside. (Maybe I lived during that time in my former life, haha). The choices on the coffee menu were amazing. I had the Caffé Bach... espresso with steamed cream and butterscotch, topped with Schlag and butterscotch. It seems they burnt the whip cream (Schlag) purposefully and it was wonderful. My mom ordered a Café au-lait and afterwards ordered a Caffé Bach. To eat we opted for Eggs Benedict and a Belgian waffle with strawberries. My only complaint was that it seemed there was sugar sprinkled on top of the waffle which overpowered it with sweetness. My assumption was the sugar was sprinkled on the waffle before it was cooked and it made the edges of the waffle a bit crunchy. The potatoes which accompanied the Benedict are normally cooked with rosemary and my mom's request to forgo the rosemary was granted. Our waiter was recently hired and did a fabulous job with serving us. If I ever have the opportunity to dine here again while visiting Nashville, I would do so in an instant. read more

I went for the Intermezzo Cappuccino because I saw the pictures on Yelp. Not disappointed. It was divine! I also had the eggs and salmon benedict which was really good. The service was friendly and prompt even though our server looked like he was having to cover more than his fair share. Wow this is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville. I've had it on my list and finally got to go. We went around 7:30pm on a Saturday and got seated immediately. Our appetizer was the seafood dip which was so flavorful and rich. Licked the bowl clean. They also gave us an extra loaf of bread with it! The smoked salmon pasta had a strong smoked salmon flavor with yummy capers. The tomato basil was so freshly prepared and felt light in my stomach. The portion sizes were just right and price very affordable for the ambiance and location. You have to get dessert here. They gave us a tour of all of their desserts and it was so hard to pick. Their options included various cheesecakes (Oreo, key lime, cannoli), chocolate mountain cake, two types of tiramisu imported from Italy, strawberry party cake, tres leches, and classic cakes. I split a hazelnut torte with my friends and it tasted just like a Ferraro roche! I got the coconut amaretto tiramisu to go. The staff were so friendly. I definitely will be back soon, even if it's just to pick up a slice of cake! read more

I didn't even know this place existed, but so incredibly happy I stumbled upon it last night! Such a cozy cafe with a European feel right in the middle of downtown. The dessert case was full of delicious cakes and pies (try the Creme Brûlée cheesecake!) and the coffee was amazing. The server Tim was wonderful as well. I've been eating at Cafe Intermezzo in Atlanta since 2004. It's one of my favorite state side restaurants. We are excited about the one in Nashville. Tonight we had dinner there and I ordered my standard Salmon Pasta. It was not made like I am used to eating it (too many capers). Not only did the manager come to the table and asked what we felt was off about the dish, he then took that information and made us a new bowl of pasta to see if he could correct the issue. I was very pleased with the waiter and the manager and the effort they made for us. I truly love this place! read more

I had seen this Cafe from the street and decided to try the menu for dinner. Great decor.. greeted at the door with a full description of all the great desserts. Then service took a downhill turn. We were offered only one soup option and were told it was the only option. The manager later told us they had two soups.. neither was the one we were offered. I ordered a salad and the entrees were brought to the table prior to the soup or the salad. We asked for the manager and he informed us that he was sorry but only had one server tonight and the bartender was having to be a waiter. The manager continued to be attentive to our needs. There were about 6 tables and it took 45 minutes to get the soup and salad and the entrees even longer. I see good reviews for looks..for lunch.. for desserts..what turned out to be possibly a bad experience... This is a very classy new European themed restaurant in the SoBro area of downtown Nashville. Finding a good deal on parking is a bit of a challenge but there are a couple of parking garages and lots nearby but you will have to pay for these. I would suggest to the restaurant that they offer a free valet service or even some kind of validation in the parking garage that is connected to their restaurant. Other than that this restaurant is truly a delightful experience and I would definitely recommend it. As some other reviewers have mentioned it truly feels like you are entering a cafe in Europe. The interior is so pretty and elegant. They have beautiful chandeliers, appealing artwork and other original decor inside. I adored the music they were playing. It really went well with the theme. It was a bit classical, very relaxing and jazzy with an old school charm. At one point, I actually thought someone was playing a piano in the room. Overall, the food and coffee was very good. We enjoyed the Egg White Omelette with a side of fruit and the Eggs Benedict with a side of potatoes. The Hollandaise sauce was perfect on the Eggs Benedict. The Egg White Omelette was very tasty. I really liked the ingredients consisting of delicious goat cheese, organic lettuce, broccolini and red pepper coulis. Their coffee and beverage selection is among one of the best I have ever seen. I had the pleasure of trying the Cafe Intermezzo which consisted of espresso, steamed milk, cocoa and almond essence. The Cappuccino L'Amore was outstanding too. It had the most delicious tasting whipped cream or as they call it Schlag and it also had flavors of cocoa, Rum and Brandy. The service was also great because the staff were attentive, helpful and polite. Came here for brunch once and for dessert. The interior is awesome, and it's such a beautiful place. As for food, their brunch is okay-not too good not too bad. Their tiramisu cheesecake was a little too sweet, but the nutella and banana crepe was good. I was disappointed at the service because the waiter showed cleared annoyance when we asked to split the check. One of the reasons we came here was that we saw on yelp they validate parking; but they don't anymore. Also, when i came here for brunch, the waiter acted as if he could not understand my friend's pronunciation when she asked for a fork. Love the Atlanta location. Went on Jan 30, 2021 at 9pm and while waiting for a table was flashed 3 times by a woman at the bar. No bra, full nipple. After the first time, we asked the woman if she could not do that. After the second and third time of the drunk woman flashing people in the restaurant, we spoke to the manager who's response was "sorry, I'll speak with her" oblivious to what was going on. It was amazing that a bar with 3-4 employees behind it weren't doing anything about a woman flashing tables and people in the restaurant. It didn't seem like anyone was interested in resolving the problem. Needless to say, we decided to go elsewhere. So, if you want good food and desserts, the dinner next door is great. My wife and I came here twice on our weekend in town. Usually we don't visit places twice when we are exploring the town but it was just so good we had to go back. My wife and I came here for dessert after a disastrous dinner at Bakersfield. I wish we could've restarted our night and came here for the entire meal. Cafè Intermezzo is a quaint little cafe that feels like you've been transported to Paris (we joked about trying to see the Eiffel Tower out the window). The menus looked delicious and very Parisian. As I said we came in for dessert and got the tour of the pastry/cake display and everything looked amazing. We opted for the Raspberry Lemon Charlotte and the classic Tiramisu and neither disappointed. The Charlotte was very light and airy and perfectly lemony. The Tiramisu was excellent, very classic flavor of espresso, chocolate and cream. We will definitely be back here for the full dining experience soon. Oh and they have a very impressive espresso bar. I got the Cappuccino Intermezzo and it was delicious. Do yourself a favor and try them for breakfast, lunch or dinner you won't be disappointed! read more

In all of Nashville, Cafe Intermezzo is unique. Styled as an 18th century coffee house, there are many, many choices in entrees, desserts, and drinks. It's also fairly quiet, a rarity downtown and most places around here. This place is refined, not trendy. Perfect for before or after the Symphony, in my opinion. I have mixed feelings about this place. I think it could be something really special however the service was horrible. Went here on a Sunday for brunch. The hostess was very pleasant and kind. We were seated right away. Only four or five other tables were occupied (all with only two people at each table). The trouble started with our waitress. While she was the only server working (I'll give her a break there) she was moping around and clearly wanted to be anywhere but there. Simple things like drink orders took 15+ minutes to arrive. I ordered a pot of earl grey tea that was delicious. However the sugar cubes that came with it looked dirty and tea spotted from previous customers dipping into it. The food took even longer and when it came out everything was cold and one of our orders was wrong. Had everything been hot the food was good but basic. I'm not sure if they were having an off day since this was the first time I've been here. This is a place I really want to love but they need some work. This is one of my favorite place in downtown Nashville. If you're looking for a gluten free cake this is the place to go and they even had a tiramisu direct from Milan, Italy. I mean no kidding their tiramisu had spoiled my taste if all the tiramisu's I had ever tasted as theirs is original and directly from Milan. This place is Awesome atmosphere and clean and they were serving other healthy options as well. I had the egg white grain bowl and they are Awesome.
