One of my favorite businesses in Nob Hill. I always get the Best Friend's burrito which is delicious. The owner is super sweet and service is great. It can get crowded on the weekends though, I would recommend calling ahead. The space itself is very small, there's only a little bit of room outside. This small, family-run place packs a big punch and is a neighborhood gem! I love their drinks and breakfast burritos. On the burritos side--I've enjoyed the chorizo, best friends, Mexican, and country burritos. Re. coffee--I've enjoyed their chai, Hojicha latte, Salted maple iced latte (seasonal), and Azteca mocha. Take the cable car here or maybe the 1 bus. Parking seems like it'd be a pain (but I always walk here.) Seating is minimal, but you can take your provisions to nearby Huntington Park or Ina Coolbrith for good views. Service is wonderful. I keep coming back and there's often a line! I came here with my friend who knows the city better than I do, and I wanted to try out a new spot. I love the location, in between victorian buildings and lush trees. There was no line so we ordered our food, it did take about 10 minutes for our order to be ready. But the food and drinks were evidently made to order, so I'm happy to wait for a fresh meal. My matcha tasted perfect, not too sweet, and with a subtle taste of strawberry. I accidentally ordered it hot but the owner was happy to make it iced for me. This seems to be quite the popular spot. Came on a Saturday morning at around 10ish and there was a decent crowd and when I left after eating it seemed like a new crowd had formed. It is real quick to order but due to how busy they are it can be a bit of a wait. They have a lot of outdoor seating with a couple tables inside. The food was worth the wait. I got the meat lovers burrito and it was loaded. Could have done with just eating half....but with the hot sauce it just tasted so good I finished the whole thing and left feeling stuuuffed. Not the biggest burrito, one issue is that they cut the burrito with the foil wrapped and so my friend almost ate small pieces of the foil. The workers are very friendly and sweet. Better than sweet is owned by the family as well but in a separate store next to Cafe Isabella, so I had to pay separately but the workers gave us our drinks while we were in Cafe Isabella. They take orders at the door but you can ask to sit inside (very limited but there's also outdoor seating). It's not too clear, but they also have specials posted inside the cafe. The cafe is pretty eccentrically decorated. I spent around $17 including tax and tip per burrito, bit expensive but always down to support local restaurants. read more

I ordered the farmers burrito, with no rice (because I typically don't like rice in burritos, most of theirs had rice in them). It was pretty small and soggy but the taste was pretty good. It came with a side of chips. This was $15.95 before tax. I also ordered a house coffee, small, which was $3.50. Overall it was decent but it didn't wow me. We got the bagel isa special and the farmers burrito. Both were a little pricey but super filling and satisfying! The bagel had cream cheese and ham and bacon so it was quite rich, but I liked the addition of veggies to add freshness. The farmers burrito was very filling as well, as it had both rice and potatoes. Not as much sausage in the filling but lots of egg. Had a few tables for outdoor seating! By 10 am, they had already run out of their Everything Bagels! The service was friendly and so accommodating - I feel like this is a place where you could get really familiar with the employees and it leaving you feeling connected and cared for if you're a regular! Very cute spot. THE WAIT Very busy on a Saturday in December around 11:45am, not that many seats, as there are just a few first come first serve small tables on the sidewalk. We were surprised there was seating for 5-6 inside; unclear if no one knew about these tables, or everyone just wanted to be outside. Short line to order, but most people are standing around waiting for their food, which took a good 10-15 minutes. PARKING Parking is not that easy. We got a spot a block away, but it was 2 hour parking til 6pm on Saturdays. We risked it and parked for 3 hours, no ticket. FAMILY-FRIENDLINESS Not specifically in the sense that there were no high chairs or boosters, and it was mostly a young professional crowd. However, my kids were welcome and at home, and they enjoyed the cute decor. * Farmers Burrito ($13.95) - 4 stars Very hearty and filling. The salsa on the chips is quite spicy! Others in our group got croissants and bagels. They were fresh and soft. FYI, I saw packaging for Kirkland smoked salmon in the trash (that stuff isn't bad or anything, but just in case you're expecting fresh caught salmon or something). The bathroom isn't usually open to the public but the owner was nice and let my toddlers use it. TLDR: I did my research before coming here so my expectations were admittedly high for my visit... and this place solidly met those sky high expectations! They summed it up perfectly after we ate and paid -- these burritos are made with love and you can taste it. Come here if you like saucy, piping hot burritos plus a free serving of nachos on the side. You'll see another cute cafe next door, which is also owned by the same family, that serves healthy smoothies, protein shakes, and super unique / different sandwiches that all look absolutely delicious. ------ FOOD: What we got: * I'm sure all the burritos are fantastic, but we tried the Country burrito (5/5) without rice and bacon and it was creamier/cheesier than any other burrito I've ever had. * There was a very generous amount of meat (sausage and ham) in there * The burrito came out piping hot and even 30 minutes later the tin foil was able to keep the other half of the burrito steaming * The nachos were crispy and were a great textural addition to the softer burrito. Not a ton of toppings on the nachos but that's ok, especially if you get their hot sauce for $1 (note, it's pretty spicy) What else they have: * They serve lots of different burritos here, and when we asked for slight customizations (e.g. no rice or bacon) they were able to do that for us easily since everything is made to order * They also have breakfast sandwiches on bagels, croissants (+$1), english muffins, and bread * Next door is their sister store full of healthy options such as smoothies (keto and not), protein shakes, and really unique sandwiches like kimchi toast and Hawaiian paninis ------ ENVIRONMENT: * When we came on a drizzly day, their indoor seating was open and could probably seat ~8 people inside among 2-3 small tables. * There are also ~4 small tables set up outside the cafe with 2 chairs each * You'll probably wait in line at the front door of the establishment where the owner will take your order and then come out with your food, especially if the indoor seating is full * It's quite small inside so if you come during a popular time (~10 am on a weekend) there likely won't be too many seats available * Lots of random parking around this neighborhood area ------ SERVICE: * All the women who were working in the cafe were so kind and accommodating. I was excited to try this place after seeing all the rave reviews and wanting to support small businesses. However, they forgot my order, and the service was extremely slow. I waited an hour, they did not offer any sort of apology after telling me they forgot to make it. As someone who's working in the service industry off days/mistakes happen but an apology standard practice and human! The breakfast burritos were mostly refried beans and rice, with very little egg or meat, making them soggy. Genuinely the worst, tasteless burrito I've ever had. The bagel was also a letdown it was over-toasted and resembled a giant cracker, topped with cream cheese and onion. Overall, I spent $60 and waited an hour for two breakfast burritos and a bagel that I ended up throwing away. I wouldn't write a poor review for just bad food but the lackluster and unapologetically poor service was deserving of it. read more
