You order/pay at the counter, have a seat and they bring your your food. We had the Super Super Healthy Salad, Vegan Buddha Bowl, and Roasted Mushroom and Onion Panini. Every item was fresh and delicious. The dressing on the salads were yummy, tasted healthy (not heavy or oily) but I think could have been even better if it had a splash of citrus or vinegar. I can always count on Jane to get a sweet treat. I usually swing by whenever I get cookie cravings. My favorite is the double chocolate chip. It is a thick cookie, loaded with chocolate flavor. It's crispy at the edges and chewy in the middle, which is my favorite texture when it comes to cookies. The one time I've dined in was during Tomato Week, a spin off of Restaurant Week. Their special was a lovely tomato and burrata toast. It was simple, but full of brightness from the tomatoes, creaminess from the burrata, and a hint of sweetness from the balsamic reduction. I had this dish years ago and I still remember it. Jane on Larkin is also one of my favorite places to get a Too Good to Go bag. I've gotten a variety of items at a great price of around $4.99-$5.99 a bag. My most recent bag contained a seeded baguette, a huge cinnamon roll, and a sausage croissant. I turned the baguette into a bread bowl for my marinara-poached eggs, and it was so good! The bread had a nice crunch, and it was soft in the middle. The cinnamon roll was so good! It was moist, full of cinnamon flavor but not too sweet. And the sausage croissant had a nice kick. Service has always been good. It's a nice cafe to go to when you need a break working from home or to chat with friends. You can work there, though I don't believe there's outlets. But I think it's more of a place to relax than work. The vibes are pretty chill. It's in the Tenderloin, so yes, be careful when walking in the area. But I'm happy that it's there because the hood needs more cafes like this one. read more

Music is loud. Then there's people talking, i think it is the ceiling, high ceiling. It's great to have chairs and tables. I saw a tiny bug trapped in the bakery case. It is taking a bit long for my restaurant week salad. But there's gig workers coming in steadily to pick up orders for popular lunch time. They packed my lunch to go with a small dragon fruit smoothie. What a beautiful color! The quinoa kale salad (cucumber, cherry tomatoes, sweet potatoes) with pomegranate dressing was amazing. Lots of flavor. The toasted bread slices (very hard crostini) with some sort carrot hummus/nutty dip was amazing. I feel healthy already. Restaurant week. Ends 11/9/25. I came here to chat with a friend early morning before getting brunch nearby and I ended up getting a cup of drip coffee and the seasonal brioche with berry jam. Coffee was good and strong which was great with the buttery, rich brioche bread. I ended up sharing it with a friend as it's a huge portion of soft, pillowy bread. I loved the tart jam on top with berries which helped cut through the cream cheese filling. Overall a really great treat for breakfast and a nice neighborhood shop in the middle of a less than great area. I love cafes like this where breakfast is served all day, giving us so much to choose from on the menu. We got the sausage biscuit with no roasted tomato jam, the roasted mushroom and onion panini, a white chocolate oatmeal cookie, a double chocolate cookie, an iced mocha, and some tea. Everything looked better than it tasted, but that doesn't mean it tasted bad, the presentation was just very appetizing. They were generous with the toppings in the sandwiches, and the biscuit was nice and fluffy and seemingly infused with herbs. The cookies from the display case had good flavor but were a bit too chewy. Outside there is little to no signage, so the cafe is easy to miss from the sidewalk, in a run-down area with homeless scattered throughout. However, the inside is a total 180, a clean and pleasant atmosphere, offering sufficient service and a good amount of seating for dining in. read more

Location: Keep your head on a swivel because the TL has many homeless & drug users. It is a sketch area that has gotten sketchier. Metered parking that is tough to find, even on a weekday during the daytime. Best to take door to door transport. Food is pricey. Picked up a few things to go because wanted to get back to the car. Heated the ham croissant at home, it was flaky but lacked ham. Quickbread was unremarkable; lacked flavor. Sandwich baguette was ok. Don't feel the $18 was a worthwhile spend. I dropped by Jane on Larkin to cowork with someone for a few hours, and I was impressed by how energetic and lively this spot was! It had such a good vibe and was absolutely bustling, although perhaps not the perfect spot for working all day, since they didn't have wifi and can get a bit too loud for focused work / meetings. However, the coffee was great, you can't go wrong with their chocolate croissant (or really any of their pastries), and the staff was super friendly. Popped over for a morning coffee while staying with my sister who lives down the street. Ambiance is beautiful! People are working at the tables or engaging with each other. Contemporary, clean, modern cafe in the Tenderloin. 10am got super busy! Where did all these people come from?! Any way that was a rush scared for me. When I arrived at 9:30am it was a clam, one 2 people sitting at the counter on their electric devices waiting for their food to come to them. Tenderloin is not a neighborhood I frequent so since I was in this area, might as well detour and try something new and hope for the best. I heard a lot of good things about the Jane Bakery, but never had chance to venture to the two locations until now. The cafe is a clean well lighted wide open spaces I spent time looking at the tea they sell along the left wall. The pastry display case had a wealth of interesting pastries but the hard part for me is picking the one I wanted to eat now. I finally decided on the last sausage crossiant and the last cheese biscuit. I paid about $13.80 for two pastries, but very well made. I selected the the last two sausage Crossiant and cheese biscuit. Nice and flaky and crispy sausage Crossiant where the sausage had a mild spice to it. The cheese biscuit was nice and solid, good cheese flavor and nice texture. I would order both again. There wasn't much customer service, I just order and grab a napkin and sat at table. I wouldn't mind coming back if I was in the area to try some other pastries and perhaps try some breakfast. read more

Okay I never write reviews (I rarely feel so strongly as to take note of it) but I had to just let others know how truly awesome this place is. The prices are just reasonable enough to keep coming back for a treat, the food is REALLY good (I am seriously very picky, I got an egg white panini and switched up the cheese and got the tomato chutney on the side - WOW. Legit the perfect breakfast), The staff is kind and clearly all hard working and accommodating, they keep their areas clean, use lots of fresh coffee beans, and wear gloves. You can see the whole kitchen actually which just increases food trust. I rarely come back to restaurants, I literally went back to tip again and I'm serious when I say I'd come here daily until I've tried everything. Cute little cafe/brunch spot along Larkin! I came in around noon during my lunch break with some coworkers and ordered an iced homemade chai with an extra shot. The lady at the front was super helpful with recommendations and, after making our drinks, offered to make any sweetness adjustments. When it was first made, my chai was a little strong tasting. I had a little bit of simple syrup added to make it sweeter and it was better! The chai flavor itself was more on the subtle side and the espresso added definitely overpowered. Cute cafe nestled in a not so cute area of SF, this Jane location is the least crowded and less likely to be out of pastries later in the day. I love how their menu is full of dietary restriction friendly options and that they have a booklet that allows you or the staff to easily look into ingredients/allergens! I've gotten a few bowls and salads which are good options for a hearty yet healthy lunch, but the things that keep me coming back are their cookies and nutty bird bread. They're gluten free and plant-based and whenever I'm craving something like a PB&J, the nutty bird bread hits the spot! It's a dense, seedy bread that works well with a heavy topping of almond butter and jam. Way better than the Mill's version in my opinion! Wash that down with one of their coffee drinks, and you've got yourself a decadent breakfast. read more

While I appreciate the portion size, i found the salad to be lacking in flavor. They do have a bunch of other menu items. However, inside lies a stylish, modern interior with a pretty decent selection of brunch foods. While the restaurant isn't very big, I've been able to find seating at a table inside the couple times that I've been. Here, you just order at the front and they'll bring it out to you pretty quickly. If you want to get food here, make sure to come earlier in the day as they stop serving a lot of food items on their menu around an hour before they close. I've gotten the Smoked Salmon toast before along with the Cheddar Chive Biscuit. The Smoked Salmon toast isn't the largest, but I could tell that all the ingredients were fresh from the great flavor they had. The chive biscuit I had was excellent, and definitely hit the spot for me. While a lot of their items are not complicated or super fancy, the quality is pretty solid for me. Overall, I would recommend checking this often-overlooked brunch spot at least once if you're in the area. read more

I come here once in a while and each time had been a good experience. I love love their slice of banana bread. Don't get the packaged full loaf though. It's not the same even though they said it was. Somehow the packaged one is more oily/buttery. Perhaps it's the packaging? Anyway I also love their scrambled egg panini. I don't have a picture because it's not picture-perfect but it taste amazing. I love heavy breakfast and that is perfect for me. I also like their spicy baked eggs. It's a little bit spicy but it's something I crave when it's too cold outside. There are too much of tomatoes and sadly I never get to finish all of it because it's a little too acidic for me after a few spoons. But I still love it and will order it again if the weather is right. Coffee wise, I still bring my own coffee when I come visit because like Jane's and most coffee shops, I found their coffee beans (medium to light roast) a little too acidic for my taste. I love dark roast (with beans almost black) but it's not very popular around here. But I'm sure their coffee pleases most people, and that's what matters. read more

When I figured out that this is part of the Jane the Bakery chain of eateries/bakeries, I was super excited to try their baked goods and lunch offerings. After seeing many reviews, I opted for the mango chicken salad sandwich. This was honestly a mixed bag because while I liked the balance of sweet with the curry sauce, I was super disappointed by numerous pieces of dry as a brick chicken pieces as well as a hard to bite bread roll. I decided to try their pastries instead and went for the pumpkin bread and a chocolate toffee cookie. The pumpkin bread was honestly also disappointing because it tasted mostly of cinnamon with little pumpkin flavor. The cookie, however, was fantastic with plenty of chocolate and toffee and the perfect mix of chewiness and crunch. All in all, honestly I think with so many great bakeries in the city, it's hard for me to want to come back. Dry chicken is absolutely one of the worst food sins. Nevertheless, I will say that the flavors aren't inedible, just that you could probably find better quality of food as a whole elsewhere. read more

We ordered 3 items, one hot and spicy, one neutral, and one sweet and refreshing, and I think it was the perfect spread. - spicy baked eggs: pretty much like a shakshuka, comes with 2 slices of bread and has a kick to the stew. The eggs are runny and helps to balance the spice. - avocado mash: bread is super good and thick just how I like it! Definitely can make this at home but it was still a good addition to the meal. - dragonfruit bowl: so refreshing and tasted really good with the mini cacao nibs and goji berries. 4/5 for Jane! I was honestly surprised with the variety of drinks they had on the menu. What caught my attention was the turmeric latte. I knew I had to try it!!! The drink didn't taste like what I imagined. I expected more flavors of coffee, but turmeric was definitely the star of the show. I still enjoyed it! For those of you who want to try something out of their comfort zone, I definitely recommend the Turmeric Latte. My drink was slightly sweetened with Simple Syrup. It was just right!
