Food (4/5): Food is solid and decent pricing considering it's inside a spa you have to pay for and don't have outside food. I ordered the tuna roll, tonkatsu and yukgaejang (shredded beef soup). Overall the food is solid and quite delicious. My friend got the Jackie roll and chicken teriyaki and seemed to enjoy it. Service (4/5): Line can take a while and there's no way to order online or with QR code. But the staff are friendly and helpful. Ambiance (5/5): It's inside the Island Spa so looks very modern, clean, and nice. A good amount of seats for approximately 30 people. read more

I have only had amazing experiences at island spa and sauna. The whole facility has a clean, relaxing feel to it. I love the amenities already but this was my first time trying their food. I had the vegetarian dumplings (steamed not fried because I was trying to be healthy) and they were delicious. They were served hot with a side of sauce. Service was quick and friendly! read more

I understand that the pandemic is tough, but the place was super crowded with hardly any available seats to sit! Yet the cafe has declined in quality and offerings. For one, they removed several items off the menu - including the spicy rice cakes (ddukbokki), which I craved and would come to Island Spa specifically for! There are very few staple Korean options left... Second, the food was just bland and not great for vegetarians. They don't even replace the side dishes to be meat-free if you are vegetarian. I got the bimbimbap and was really disappointed- the vegetables are not even pickled nor they have any oil/sauce.... I essentially got steamed vegetables and plain rice for $16. Third, they've become a bit stingy. When I asked for sesame oil to add to my bland rice, I was told I had to pay $1 extra. They used to just keep the bottles out for us to use as condiments. They also pre-pour the Gochujang for the bimbimbap instead giving a bottle (as is typical at Korean restaurants) and would presumably charge if you asked for more. My boyfriend got the Tonkatsu and there was hardly any meat on it - he was basically eating a chip! Sadly, this experience has definitely made me less likely to want to come to Island Spa & Sauna (or recommend it to friends), and now will definitely eat out before/after my visit instead of eating here. read more

The food is so subpar it's sad that you have to get it if you're hungry in Island Spa because it's the only option. They have no competition so there's no motivation to improve. Everything is quite subpar for what the cost is. Tonkatsu is so thin and small in portion. Soondubu has a shallow cheap flavor. Island spa experience would be a lot better if cafe island stepped up their food game. read more

Ahhhh I'm soooo happy that I'm able to fulfill my usual cravings of the Volcano Roll easily without even having to go into Island Spa Every single time I go to Island Spa, I never leave without having the Volcano Roll and if there's a time I just couldn't have it for some reason, I get really sad lol I've always wanted to be able to just order it, pick it up, and go because I randomly crave it like ALL the time and NOW I CAN! Honestly, I haven't been able to find other sushi places around that has this kind of combo of ingredients inside the roll. Better for sushi. Avoid the beef bibimbap! The beef tasted old. Volcano Roll: too spicy and spicy tuna was salty. The imitation crab was too spicy I had to remove. Pineapple wasn't ripe. Island Roll: The sauce they used for the salmon was sweet and mild. Not spicy. Beef Bibimbap: ground beef tasted old and half the veggies were raw- carrots, pickled daikon. Avoid. Sushi seems more fresh than the bibimbap and not heavily doused in sauce. read more

A friend had suggested we venture out to dine at Cafe Island. Which is basically the dining area of the well known Island Spa. I was intrigued how we could dine when we did not visit the spa. Anyways, their menu here is a typical korean food variety and they also have a section for sushi. I opted for the the beef tofu soup (soondubu) and we had shared an order of the Island fries. I liked how they have a barcode thing where when you scan with your phone, it takes you to their menu to order and the waiter will serve you your food. Let me tell y'all, the service was 10/10; our waitress was so cute and super attentive. I think that's what started off with positive vibes and the food was just as good! My tofu soup was bursting with flavor and the egg was already cracked in it for me. It did not look steamy but I must warn anyone, please make sure you blow your soup before you eat. I had received three banchan dishes. I think it was potato, radish and some kimchi. My dish also came with white rice. The Island fries consisted of bulgogi with spicy mayo and what seems to be the infamous eel sauce? I am not sure but it all paired really well together. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical of why we would dine here out of numerous of places around this area but I am glad we did. read more

Island Spa was already one of the best places I'd visited, and on top of that, their cafe is absolutely outstanding! Their sushi is one of the best I've had in Jersey without a doubt. I tried the crab roll and the spicy tuna and both were delicious and almost melted in my mouth. The authentic flavor really came through in each roll! The process to order is great and really safe which made me feel really comfortable to order here again (which I did two more times). You can order online and the host will bring out the food to you outside so it is essentially curbside pickup. Everyone is wearing a mask and gloves and the service is fast as well. I'm so excited to see that Island Spa now has a restaurant for non-spa guests! Being able to order online so easily and pickup some of the food I crave the most is amazing. I mean where else are you going to get traditional Korean cuisine with sushi and bubble tea around here all at a pretty great price? Ordering takeout feels like I'm bringing a little piece of relaxation home with me. I highly recommend the Island fries and trying a specialty roll made with love by their in-house sushi chef. Finally!!! I am so glad Island Spa now offers takeout for the restaurant and juice bar! I regularly use the spa, but now I can grab a quick bite to eat if I want some delicious Korean food or sushi. They also have a beautiful outdoor dining area that is available for pickup orders. I tried one of their new menu items, the Island Fries, and I will definitely be back for more! read more
