I am honestly surprised with the amount of great reviews as I did not have the same experience. My friends and I came here at 8:00 PM on a Saturday, we assumed we had just passed the main dinner rush of 6-6:30 PM. We had a party of 6 and still had to wait about 25 minutes for a table as the place is pretty small. Right after we sat down we accidentally spilled a glass of water and it took so much effort to flag down a waiter to get some napkins. They didn't even help us clean it up, we could barely mop up what was on spilled on the table because they gave us very little napkins. Then when we asked for more napkins when the food came out the waitress counted it out and gave us exactly 6, one for each person. As for the food, a big disappointment. The tuna was not the bright pink color it normally is and instead had a dark red/purple hue to it, a little concerning. The yellowtail and squid were super chewy. The mackeral was very fishy, which I understand mackeral is on the fishy side for raw fish but I've had it in Japan where is was the exact opposite. Honestly, the only fresh tasting fish was the salmon. The food was slow to come out even though the wait staff was very attentive with grabbing our menu orders. Sushi was kind of low quality compared to other AYCE. Be aware that they use a lot of rice in their nigiri pieces. Cooked food selection was small. Also, they forgot to bring the pork buns out during the 1st round of food, and by the time we got them at the end I was already stuffed :( I wouldn't come back for AYCE. Ordered on GrubHub for pick up. Parked in the back and went through the rear entrance. Everything was ready when it was projected to be and pick up was seamless. Food was eaten about 30 minutes after pick up and everything was still good. All of the sushi and sashimi seemed fresh. Only issue was both of our noodles in the ramen dishes were stuck together in one large hard piece. It was difficult to unstick so we just eating it in big chunks which makes the experience less enjoyable. Probably would stick to eating their ramen in store. East Hana is another AYCE sushi restaurant but I prefer this place over the others (cough cough Sushi Palace). The quality is so much better and the sashimi cuts are thicker. The appetizer options are more wider here as they have pork buns and takoyaki! I love how for their sushi's they don't skimp out on the filling and sashimi and have the right balance with rice. The best part if you can't finish it, you do have to pay a penalty fee but they do also let you take it home. read more

This review is just for pick up, but I already have plans to come back for the all you can eat! I searched Yelp while in the area for a late-ish dinner and luckily found East Hana. After double checking that it wouldn't be too long of a wait, I placed an order over the phone, picked it up less than 10 minutes later, and was home enjoying some fantastic sushi in no time. 5 stars for the eel avocado, salmon avocado and the seaweed salad! They used long, thick cuts of eel and it was grilled perfectly. *Salmon Sushi - 3/5 Didn't taste as fresh, but not the worst I've had. *Spicy Salmon Roll - 3/5 Average. It could've been spicier. Rice seemed stale. *Shrimp Tempura Roll - 1/5 Messy, messy, messy. Some of the shrimp tempura were dry and soggy while others were too hard to even bite into. My go to stop in Metuchen for sushi. They have a very good variety of sushi for AYCE, along with other items on the menu. They have the option available all day for lunch dinner and are open all 7 days unlike some of their competitors. Service was up to standards. There a good amount of traffic for take out orders also. There is a private parking lot at the rear of the restaurant. Ambiance is nice too. They have TV mounted on the wall, which has a slideshow constantly playing their menu items and pictures. Nothing stood out as "bad" - a lot landed in the area of "pretty good" with some things to make note of compared to competitors: - All around good sashimi. The scallion pancakes are surprisingly delicious, and the green salad is a nice starter as always. There is decent amount of space inside, and it's great for families and friends to gather and hang out and bond over sushi. We waited for them to get our order and finally the server took our order at 7:40 pm, almost an hour since we arrived. All kitchen orders are backed up due to take out orders and dining orders. Finally they served our orders at 8:23 pm, close to an hour of wait. Management over booked. They messed up our reservation. The lady server tried to reason out instead of apologizing to us. Happy to share that we found a great and new Sushi AYCE! My husband and I have been craving sushi for weeks now but wanted to try a new AYCE place. I highly recommend starting with the Shrimp Tempura coz that crunch on the first bite will leave you wanting more. The seaweed salad was also a winner. Siumai was also yummy!! The only so-so in the starter list was the calamari. It was crunchy but you can barely feel the squid meat in it. The Flame Mountain Roll was the start of the night for me. I love shrimp tempura so this special roll did it for me! The Mango Avocado roll was the second best for me! The dessert list is limited to ice cream (red bean, green tea, chocolate and vanilla). This may be the best ayce sushi I've been to and I've been to a bunch of them. First of all the place itself is located in downtown Metuchen in a strip across from the Whole Foods. The place is very unassuming but what I noticed when I walked in is that people weren't coming here solely bc they had ayce. I saw plenty of tables who had ordered ramen as well as ala carte menu items. This tells me people actually think the food's good here and they aren't just coming to stuff their faces. Now onto the ayce part, the menu, in particular the kitchen menu has some killer items I haven't seen elsewhere and even if they were available elsewhere they weren't made as well. I def recommend the lo mein and general tsp off the kitchen items (nice to be able to have some Chinese takeout style food along w the sushi) as far as the sushi goes every item we ordered (especially the salmon sashimi and red snapper sashimi). The staff was even nice enough to make me a crispy salmon skin roll ( done very well)which i always finish off w at a ayce sushi place. The place in Norwood (not going to use their name but you can find it) is now #2 best ayce sushi place I've tried and there's a new champ. Already looking forward to coming back read more

My sister is a regular, so they usually know what she wants which is an awesome thing. Sometimes we stop by here after my nephews communion for a luncheon.
