I selected this place because its BYOB. the combo a comes with 3 meats, steamed egg and we picked the tofu soup. the quality of the meat was really good. we enjoyed the food. my pet peeve is that we can't grill our own food. we were talking and the lady had to listen to our personal stories. the Banchan is good. the kimchi is not too old and fermented. my wife and my in laws would enjoy this place because they use charcoal. plenty of parking lot parking. bathroom is clean. Very surprised to encounter this kind of restaurant in the area. Upon entering, you could see that this is a mom and pop shot as the only individuals were older Koreans and the workers. An update to the week ago review, we've come here more often lately as visiting family, grocery run, meeting with friends, really any reason to be out is a great reason to eat at Keum Ho. While we joke that they could use a renovation, the charm is the well enjoyed nature inside where many decades of happy eating, sharing, and socializing have come thanks to the steadily great food with bonus points for the immense infusion of Korean media with the near dozen TVs all streaming a different channel of Korean media, and 1 often streaming football (that's soccer). The service is attentive as the staff have been here for a very long time with lots of experience and no signs of being jaded which is a double nod to the patrons who always seemingly enjoy the experience so much. read more

First off, they charged me a $7.95 credit card fee without telling me upfront and then had the audacity to calculate tip suggestions based on the grand total INCLUDING their bogus fee. That's shady, sneaky, and greedy. Just unethical. I've never paid that much to use my credit card, ever. I ordered the Large Beef Combo for $150, which they said was just slightly more than the Small ($130), supposedly enough for two people. That was a flat-out lie. The meat portion was embarrassingly small, I literally wanted to cry when I saw the tray. They cooked the brisket elsewhere and they brought it out in an oblong banchan plastic plate! That's how tiny the cooked portions were. I mean, sure, inflation but you can't justify any of this. And yes, I should've listened to the other reviews warning about the tiny portions. My mistake. I'd give it an overall 4 rating but 3 for the stone pot rice dishes. It's kind of pricey (closer to $20 an entree), but it came with an adequate amount of veggies and side dishes. They definitely don't skimp on that, and they even have a cute little robot to deliver them. Service was fast because I guess the back is also very busy and the workers handle both. I got the Haemul dolsot (seafood rice on hot stoneware plate). It came with a thin layer of rice on the bottom, but I think it comes with too much sauce because I was unable to get a nice crispy layer of rice (and trust me I didn't touch the rice when it was sizzling). So that was disappointing because I love eating this. The kimchi was good in terms of sourness and spicyness (wasn't weak at all). Menu is diverse and they are having a bunch of promotions. They're in Korean so I don't know what the promotional flyers say. One is about a breakfast special and if you follow and share their instagram, they offer you a 5% discount (apparently only if you are eating kbbq). I'm for SoCal so I have high, Park's kbbq-level, standards for authentic korean food, so when a friend suggested grabbing korean food in a smaller NJ town, I was hesitant. All my fears were relieved when we arrived and were greeted directly by the friendly owner, whose amazing food and warm personality made us feel like we were eating in her home. Between 4 adults, we shared the triple beef combo, which was cooked to perfection by the owner and her staff. Meat was really fresh and high quality, and made it difficult for me to enjoy the abundant homemade sides. They had all of my usual faves plus more - def must get 2nds (or 3rds!) of include her homemade kimchis (radishes, cabbage, AND cucumbers!), seaweed, tofu, and fish cake - and even her potato salad I dug because it wasn't too heavy and had plentiful fuji apples for a nice refreshing crunch. We also enjoyed her kimchi soup and seafood soup (I could've just happily enjoyed one of these for my dinner), seafood pancake, and egg custard but took a ton home and easily had another full meal the next night. We went to try their bbq food for an early dinner. We ordered tofu hot soup and beef bbq. Their entrees are pricey. But we decided to try it. The tofu hot soup has fresh tofu and veggies. It tasted fresh and delicious. The beef was marinated and thinly sliced. Taste good, but it's so expensive. For a three thinly sliced beef cost $45, for me that's expensive. While the food is pretty good, service is just not hitting the mark and their floor is just so sticky!!! They've messed up our order all three separate times. Like forgetting an item or giving us the wrong dish. Came here this past weekend, they didn't cook at the table, they cooked the meat in the back and then brought it out. Don't know if this is temporary or permanent. We ordered 3 orders of marinated flaptail, they brought out two plates. The cut was definitely not the same as before, they were thick pieces of meat, like their short rib. We asked the server if they were flaptail, we were reassured that it is flaptail, they just cut it differently this time. Then, we said we placed 3 orders and only received 2 plates. The lady said yes that is 3 orders, they separated into 2 plates, 1 1/2 portion per plate. Huh? Okay. Then, a few minutes later, they brought out the 3rd plate of meat... I came on a Saturday night around 6 and it was very busy. We were seated after about 10 minutes. After we ordered, we were brought the side dishes which were really good! I ordered the beef soondubu and my boyfriend got the chicken hot stone bibimbap. We also got the korean seafood pancake and order of shrimp tempura. Our food came relatively quickly and was piping hot! The bibimbap was delicious! The soondubu tasted like any other ones I've had and the portion was a bit small. The pancakes came towards the end if our meal but was definitely worth the wait. Since the restaurant was super busy, the staff was running around doing alot. But we didnt really know who our server was and it was difficult flagging someone down to ask for anything. The staff is really nice and makes suggestions though! I feel like I'm giving it a bonus because Boston has such bad Korean food, and maybe this isn't 4 stars by NJ standards, but the food was pretty satisfying! Okay, the ambiance is not great: the table was kinda run down and the bathroom smelled weird. The waitstaff is also pretty indifferent. They also played Blackpink's MVs on repeat, which may be a pro or con depending on how you feel about them haha. (They showed other MVs on the other TV screens, but the music was only the Blackpink MVs.) The banchan were fine; I liked the kimchi and the pepper+anchovy dish. I really enjoyed the bibimbap -- both the beef and pork were very good. The ox bone soup was satisfyingly creamy, but the meat pretty tough. The seafood pancake was nice and chewy, and came out very crisp and hot; could have a bit more seafood though. I found the japchae and croaker pretty indifferent, and wouldn't get them again. I was surprised when our waitress said the galbi was pork and was on the pork list even though traditionally it's beef short rib. We got steered toward the prime boneless short rib and the marinated chuck flap tail. Both cuts of meat were very tender and juicy. Kimchi tasted a little off to me and there was no rice. Salad they give you is tasty though, as is the fish banchan. We also got the octopus dish and it was very disappointing. Octopus was rubbery and one piece had a very fishy taste. The rest of the veggies were good. I'd stick to the meat here. Service was very quick so you do feel a little rushed. Definitely expensive for what you are getting though and not much of an experience because he they don't let you cook your own meat like in other places. read more

You get three types of meat including a nice ribeye steak, brisket, and kalbi. The meat was decent. The banchan was good too - the kimchi is actually spicy. My favorite is the lunch box that comes with giant dumplings, shrimp tempura, fried egg, salad and a main entree of your choice. I usually go for the jeaeyook(spicy pork). I'm on the fence with this establishment. I have to say I've had enjoyable meals here for pick up in the past, however, they are not very receptive to a customer's request. This affects the rating overall. For instance, one pays about $110 for two orders of kalbi. If you ask them to give you a banchan per order, they will not give it to you or say they will charge you extra. This is the simple principle of providing decent customer service. Maybe it's different if you sit down and eat at the restaurant as opposed to getting take out. However, if you order one dish, technically, sides come with the dish. Why is it a big deal to have one banchan per order? It's the little things that affect ratings in my humble opinion. read more

SAVE YOUR MONEY. BAD SERVICE. OVERPRICED. Our experience: My boyfriend and I stopped by for lunch on our way from Staten Island. The place was freezing so I kept my coat on as we sat down, there was only one older couple there besides us. The banchan was great and they gave us a lot so that started off well. We got the lunch special menus and I ordered 2 bulgogi bibimbap and sundubu. What they brought out were two piles of bulgogi and we immediately got confused. I told the waiter we had asked for the bibimbap, not just bulgogi. The waiter looked and me and actually said "You asked for bulgogi, if you said bibimbap then yes I would bring you bibimbap." We were stunned, as he refused to have the right dish made (Mind you, we would have been okay if they just took the same meat back and put it in a bowl with vegetables for the bibimbap). At this point we could see we weren't gonna get the right food but we felt like we couldn't just leave, since we already ate the banchan dishes. So we took the food and began to eat it. I felt so bad because I picked the place specifically for the bibimbap that my boyfriend wanted. We also had to ask for more tea as the waiter never came to check on us again after that. Then the sundubu came. The soup tasted so...bland. I've eaten at Ktown in Manhattan and had more authentic sundubu. It was just tofu, zucchini, and overcooked beef cubes, which was so rubbery. No mushrooms? No spice? At this point I was pretty upset. We didn't even finish the meal, didn't ask for take out boxes and just asked for the check so we could leave. At this point, I knew I woukd leam them a small tip. Seeing the receipt, I immediately wanted to cry. $100 for two bulgogi meals and a horrible sundubu stew with hardly anything in it. I was LIVID. My boyfriend begged me to let him pay but it was supposed to be my treat so I simply paid, refused to leave any tip at all, and we left. We went to my car where I just cried. We've had BETTER LARGER quantities of Korean Food in MANHATTAN for less of a price than these guys charge. Did we have galbi? Did we have wagyu? KPOT literally charges $35 for all you can eat meat and bulgogi is on the bottom list of expensive meats! You could drive down to lotte Asian market down the road and get a giant bulgogi pack for $20 tops. But wait, want to know the funniest part? Sitting in my car for over 5 minutes, the waiter who gave us our check actually had the AUDACITY to step outside and find me to ask why I left no tip. He came up to my car and I told him we paid over $100 for food we didn't even ask for and no one bothered to truly serve us or even try to fix it. I barely touched the food at all, I left 70% of it. To which he said literally NOTHING and walked away. Not even an apology. You guys are literally robbing people of their money thinking they don't know the price of Korean food? I think most Korean restaurants have the same flavor profile. The way I prefer one place over another, are just the little details that I see in each of their most popular dishes. I haven't dine here in the last 5 years. Today I'm reminded of the reason why. I was in the mood for Mandooguk, my hubs chose Galbi dolsot and my kiddo ordered the spicy noodle soup with beef and vegetables. We also ordered the pork fried dumplings. This place is my least favorite out of all the pork fried dumplings I've had in the Edison area. I thought the meat did not retain its juice and the skin was more hard than most. When my Mandooguk arrived, I noticed immediately that the skin on the dumplings were overcooked. A huge pet peeve of mine when I eat this favorite Korean dish. The meat inside could have used more scallions too. This was the first time they were generous with the beef slices. The bad thing, super dry. I gave it to my son, he eats anything. My hubs enjoyed his Galbi dolsot but said it would be nice if it came with an egg like most other places. The one thing I loved was the sweet potato yam banchan. I did not care for their kimchi, it was very sour and had hints of strong ginger. Overall the entire meal was alright! I always get the pork fried rice - it comes out in a sizzling bowl. It's a bit spicy but well worth it. I was disappointed in the bibim naengmyun. The taste was okay but the portion was super small. They give out decent side dishes too (like many other Korean restaurants) and if you ask politely, will refill them too. Nothing special about the place - it's your average Korean restaurant to go to if you're in the mood. One thing is they also serve sushi which is decent and average priced too.
