Today me and fiancée came in and were seated after waiting 15 mins to be seated. We were brought ONE water for the two of us said they would be back with another one and never came back. Haven't been here in a while. Food is good, not great. I'll go back to my regular place now. Waited for a server to notice I was there...it was pretty empty at that time. Beware that the menu prices are not what they will charge you! You will pay more. Not sure a restaurant can do this as it wasn't a mistake. Another server acknowledged that the menu is outdated. Then put a piece of paper on the menu noting prices are higher. Um, there's CA legislation about this: SB 478 requires restaurants to include all mandatory charges in the listed menu price, effective July 1, 2024. Cafe Jolie can do better. read more

It was about a 15 min wait and I'm so glad we got the outdoor patio seating. How nice that there was a heater! Here's what my friends and I had: SALMON FLORENTINE - $19.50 Two poached eggs, baby greens tossed in vinaigrette, capers, red onion relish, and country potatoes. Overall a decent dish. Nothing crazy special but it was good! The potatoes were starchy cuz they are huge chunks. I asked for the hollandaise sauce to be on the side so I may dip them in. LAVENDER LEMONADE - $11 Fresh lemonade, lavendar syrup & sparkling wine. Such a lovely drink! You may want to stir this up a bit because all that purple you see ok the bottom is the LAVENDAR syrup! Unless you don't mind that extra sweetness in the end! But it's already sweet enough as is, and not too sweet which I liked! BUTTERFLY PEA MIMOSA - $13 This gorgeous drink has a rosemary garnish in it and although not as sweet as the lavendar, it was still nice. LAVENDAR LATTE - $7 Espresso and lavender syrup. I've always wanted to try this place. My friend and I both agreed we will not return. Our food was very bland, expensive and cold. I understand everyone has different taste. To begin, everything is a la carte, my french toast($14.00) was served cold, potatoes ($6.50) , very bland and 3 tiny sausages for ($6.25) , $10 mimosa filled with majority juice is a rip. I have no problem paying these prices at all, when the food is flavorful and served at the correct temperature. Our waitress was meh! For a rainy Saturday it wasn't a long wait, about 15-20 minutes for a table. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and black coffee. The eggs were actually poached perfectly and the creamy chipotle mornay sauce was actually very good, giving it a little kick with each bite. It went downhill with the crab cakes. Barely any crab and too much filler. For the price I had higher expectations. My server was attentive, but not too much so it was perfect. Parking is hit or miss since it's a busy area of Alameda and there was a farmers market happening around the corner. This is my second review of this great "Cozy" cafe. I will "echo" what I have previously written about how the quality of their food is what drives me to return. My most recent experience just solidifies this sentiment. I had ordered my breakfast and was quite hungry. When I cut into the "poached egg" it was cooked "hard" not runny like it should be on a Benedict-style item. I ate the first one (quite disappointed) then decided to call our waitperson over. I showed her the second egg (same hard cooked) and explained that I must have misread the menu and did not want to fuss over this. She insisted that the kitchen make it right. So not only is this place super cute but it's actually really delicious! First off the staff is super friendly and that for me always makes a huge difference! I'm all about customer service and boy do they have it! Secondly the food is actually really good! I had the bacon, spinach, mushroom and Gruyère omelet and it was so good! The bacon was super overdone and the French toast looked like it was thrown on my plate and limp. The bread wasn't fluffy nor was it dusted with powdered sugar. And for like almost $20, I was INCREDIBLY disappointed. I also ordered the club sandwich and ended up tossing it because it just didn't taste good. I also ordered the 3 different mimosas - the classic one, the strawberry one, the peach mango bellini. NONE OF THEM tasted well! The service was kind enough. The ambiance was just ok. They have a breakfast, brunch and lunch spread that boasts of classics like scramble, French toast and some French specials like croque madame and Benedict's. Food was good and portions were large. They have a cafe in the back where you can order drinks to go. The brunch waits can get long so arriving early is better. Service was a bit slower than expected. This spot seems popular amongst families and couples with. Good mix of both. They also have a children's menu and games to keep your child entertained. We went with an infant who didn't eat or take up a seat but was still charged as a 6th person for the tip which was really strange so be warned. read more

Webster Street in Alameda is having a revival in terms of unique new shops and restaurants. We had tried Cafe Jolie years ago and went back for brunch this morning. I enjoyed the tofu scramble (w/spinach, mushrooms, peppers, and onions) and my dining partner had the Jolie's Special with scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, toast, and potatoes. Well, the people are kind and the service was ok. Just ok. If you order a salad, you can't get 1000 island dressing. If you order a side, you can't get good old Coca Cola. If you like meat, you can no longer get steak frites. Ironically, I've personally had the above things plus much much more while visiting relatives in Paris multiple times. For a standard brunch it is just fine. The Kitchen staff was working consistently and as a team. They don't do reservations. They are tight on the substitutions. The omelet section says "Please No Substitutions". The waitress was gossiping about other workers to another waitress with a full restaurant. One star - would give zero if I could We had a really disappointing experience at Café Jolie. We were seated when the restaurant was basically empty and a waitress took our order. Once our server took our order, 30 minutes went by before she came back to say our ticket had been "lost." So essentially, we sat there for an hour and got nothing. To make matters worse, we never received the drink we asked for--even after reminding two different servers, three times. No urgency, just a lot of standing around while we were ignored and neglected. A big party was sitting next to us and was served immediately. After waiting way too long with no food and still no drink, we gave up and left. Total waste of time. I've been wanting to try this place since the locals seem to like it so it's been on my Yelp list for a while including their new Cafe Jolie location on Bay Farm. We happen to come here last minute because Neptune's was only open for take out and it was our first doggie date together so we had planned a sit down brunch. Our server, Jubilee was very busy but also very kind. She offered the kiddos a water bowl which we agreed to receive but we didn't receive until 45min after sitting down (1pm). Only thing I wished is that she checked on us a bit more. Granted it was closing time (2pm). Alright, now down to the nitty gritty.. My Order Stuffed Challah French Toast 9/10 I loved the cinnamon sweet creme fraiche stuffing Side order of Chicken Maple Sausage 10/10 The flavor kicks you in the mouth. A must add-on to your meal The Other Dog Mom's Orders Eggs Benedict, no Ham 4/10 The eggs were not poached. I repeat the eggs were not poached. They were hardboiled; not running the way they're supposed to be. Ruined the whole dish for my friend. Hollandaise sauce was lacking in quantity so that made the dry egg muffin dish even dryer. Potatoes were good (7/10). Wouldn't order again. Monte Cristo Breakfast Sandwich 8/10 Whoever asked for a sweet + savory dish, this is your ticket! My friend didn't like the berry compote dipping sauce but that might just be her bias because she dislikes fruit unless it's in its natural form; i.e. no smoothies, compotes, plantains, etc. She had a Monte Cristo prior in NYC a couple years back during a 2am rendezvous midnight snack so that was her comparison to taste. However, she burned off her taste buds this week with a mouthwash so I would come down to Cafe Jolie on Webster to give the Royal sandwich a try for yourself! My wife and I wanted to try finding a breakfast spot in Alameda. Cafe Jolie had great Yelp reviews and when we arrived the place was pretty busy. There was a 30 minute wait. When we were sat, I really enjoyed the interior decor. From the artwork to the light fixtures to the wallpaper. The ambiance was so cool. My wife ordered the Jolie Scramble with pepper Jack cheese, county potatoes and toast. I tried the Huevos Rancheros. We both thought the potatoes were really hard and lacked flavor and the toast wasn't toasty and the butter on it wasn't melted. My dish was okay and I wish I would have selected the pancakes instead, as I glanced at that dish being served to a neighboring table. Looking forward to trying more places in Alameda :) read more

Initially, we were a little worried there would be a wait, but fortunately it took only about 10 minutes to get seated. We ordered Beignets to share, while I got the Jolie's Mix (eggs, bacon, country styled potatoes & choice of French toast or pancake). Food came out in a timely manner, and it was all delish! The Beignets were warm, sweet, and fluffy. It paired so well with the chocolate dip and strawberries. My Jolie's Mix was great with both sweet and savory flavors. It was presentable but it was anything but tasty. We didn't even order anything fancy or hard to make. It shouldn't have been that bad. The potatoes had no seasoning. It looks like they just chop them, throw them in a fryer, add salt and serve. They don't even peel them. Russet potatoes should be peeled imo. They have a thicker skin than other potatoes. ‍ The pancakes were dense, not fluffy at all and they're served without butter. The beignets were crunchy and hallow. "Definitely nothing like the ones at Disney" says my daughter. On top of the food being bad, whoever put the French press together didn't know what they were doing. The coffee came out weak (not enough coffee...yes I waited to press it) and with grounds in it (they filled the water past the spout). We didn't enjoy anything we ordered. We paid 53 with tip. Not a horrible price for two people but, for what we ordered I would have preferred Dennys. TBH. I want to like this place because it's close to home. I'll return and try something different at a later date and maybe earlier in the morning but for now just keep in mind looks can be deceiving. read more

I have been wanting to eat here for awhile, I was just waiting for someone to eat with us in the area. Today was the day. My sisters decided to meet up here and they were able to accommodate our large party outdoors with our 2 little dogs. The wait staff let us borrow doggy water bowls for our little pals which was super nice. I had the croque madam and a mimosa. The mimosa was kinda small only because I'm used to restaurants that pour the orange juice in the glass and give you the mini bottle of champagne. Because it was so small, I had to order two. The croque madam was lovely as we had no qualms with it. Our daughter liked her hot chocolate and pancakes, and I love when she eats well. It looked clean, and the kids used the restroom and said that it was clean, but I didn't walk in. However, my sister took a photo of a cockroach on the bathroom door and sent it to me because she took the kids to the restroom. I didn't want to go in or finish my food after that. read more

Super cute little cafe in Alameda with a nice brunch menu and cafe. I had the lavender latte with oat milk, it was beautiful and so delicious. Service here was amazing. I love that they have a nice patio dining area as well as the cute indoor space.
