This is a unique dining spot in Alameda. The seating is inside large tents, with a few seats outside the tents. It felt very makeshift, but they are making it work. We came here on a Sunday and the seats were all filled. We put our names on the waiting list, and were seated within 15 minutes. The menu is brunchy with French influence. The food was very good. However, we made the mistake of ordering the beignets to be served at the end of the meal. They didn't put our beignet order in until after they cleared our plates, and it took about 30-45 minutes after our meal before our beignets came out. So if you want beignets, just order them the same time as your meal because they take awhile to make. What we ordered: + Sweet cream pancakes - these were cute in mickey mouse shape with a few strawberries. + Crab cake benedicts - very good + Salmon Lox Sandwich - very good, but would have liked the cucumbers to be sliced thinner. They were quite a bit thicker than the salmon and was a little clumsy to eat, but I'm just being picky. + La Campagne Omelette - lots of veggies and very cheesy + Beignets - long wait and was not bad. Had really high hopes since it's open space dining I was thinking a resort feel. The food was excellent but service can be a lot better. French toast was very good, soft and melts in your mouth feeling and the fruits were very fresh. Service was fine but wasn't excellent. The kids ordered kids drinks and gave us regular sized drinks and charged full prices. Did not think on behalf of the client so we didn't feel taken care of. The entrees were kind of small for the price and waitress didn't ask if we wanted anything else before handing us our check. I also had a headache so I didn't bother and just paid the bill. This place is about 1.5 miles into my long run. I've been wanting to try it and finally this last Sunday I decided, today is thee day. We're going. There is plenty of parking and it's right next to one of those public park gyms that uses body weight exercises. That was cool to check out. We ordered: Lattes: mediocre, the espresso did not have the best flavor. French toast: just average, not much flavor, the butter came in a those foil bricks and was too cold to spread it. Eggs Benedict: I was told that there wasn't much flavor Veggie omelet: had lots of veggies and was just ok. Some of the potatoes weren't cooked all the way. 01/27/26 Corporate heads were so kind to take me out to lunch today. A small, quaint outdoor dining vibe under tents. There were 10 of us so they put tables together for us. Everyone's food looked so good. Mine came out last and probably 15 minutes after everyone else, so I thought it was an initiation ritual or something lol I ordered the Monte Cristo so I assume it takes a little longer to make than other items. It came with fried potatoes which were seasoned well. The sandwich itself came in 4 pieces with warm jam accompanying it and was dusted with just the right amount of powdered sugar. Everything was 10/10. Minus the hard glare on the table from the sun and the heat beaming on the backs of everyone across from me. Maybe a draw shade can be put up? I met a friend there for breakfast. It is a cute cafe with very a very stylish decor. Coffee is served to you in the biggest mug I've seen. The food was delicious. I had eggs, bacon, toast, and fruit. Very basic but I enjoyed it. The bacon was cooked perfectly and there was a good variety with the fruit. My friend had a veggie omelette. It was gigantic! Cafe Jolie is great tasting food. Unfortunately the staff never answer the phone at this location so I you are trying to call on an order for breakfast or lunch, don't waste your time. Very tranquil outdoor cafe tucked away in Harbor Bay. Cafe Jolie Petit has done a great job of creating an environment where you feel more like you're at a park than surrounded by businesses. The food and coffee were great! Service was attentive and kind. I absolutely enjoyed the simplicity of the Jolie's Favorite. So this was a very unique place. I went on a Saturday and they were rather busy. That was a good sign. I didn't get anything huge BLT and sweet potato fries. Can't usually go wrong with a BLT. But that wasn't the unique part. It was an outdoor cafe, built out of shipping containers. Maybe 4, two stacked as a kitchen, 1 as storage and another as a smaller bakery area. The cheese on top of the Croque Madame was already congealed into a layer of chewy mess while the egg underneath was undercooked. Part of the egg white was still translucent. The béchamel on the side was lukewarm and could really use some salt. The bénignes caused serious confusion. There's just no flavor - of anything. The bénigne itself was not hot, and we ate it right as it arrived. It just tasted like the oil that it was fried in. Dipping it in the chocolate sauce and somehow, it did not taste like chocolate. It just didn't taste like anything, and it was not worth the calories. Drip coffee was surprisingly good, the potatoes were good and the service was awesome. Food is decent and the location is pretty cute! It was a nice quiet place to stop by after we ran by the water and there was a lot of parking! The Monte Cristo French Toast was pretty good and the fries that came with it kind of tasted like In N Out fries so that was a plus! It was a little windy and so it can feel cold - so dress in layers as they have only outdoor seating after all. The 3 stars instead of 5 stars is due to a negative service experience. We were second in line with a total of three parties in line waiting to be seated. They greeted and were preparing table for the first party, but then proceeded to greet and seat the third party immediately - seems like the server knew them personally. This is unprofessional as there's a line after all and why were we treated this way? We hope this can be prevented next time or continued incidences like this is going to cause some issues. As far as I've checked and checked again, there is no reservation in place. Even if the server has a reason, it would be most appropriate to greet us and then have our table prepared, and it's fine if they have table ready for the third party if their size matches a table better. I drive past this cafe every single day, curious about these shipping lovely painted shipping containers that claim to be a restaurant, and an outdoor one at that. I finally had a chance to dine here for a work breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. It had a unique, fun Bay Area sort of vibe with a touch of hipster coolness. There is no indoor dining but the tables were under tents. Somehow, it worked. There were many of us so as I peered down the table, everyone's food looked well presented and I didn't hear any complaints. Several of my seat neighbors, including myself, ordered the Crabcake Benedict. I also requested a little extra of the Hollandaise sauce and some fruit. Everything on my plate looked fresh and well presented. I was pleased. I also had a hot tea with milk. A lovely way to start the day! I'm not a Crabcake connoisseur as crab is something I rarely veer towards. I enjoyed it but I didn't love it. The texture was sort of like as if I had canned tuna. I'm not saying this is comparable to something canned, just the texture. And it was a little bit salty. My poached eggs was perfect. And the English muffin on the bottom was nice. Went to Cafe Jolie Petit the other day with 2 other ladies. I had a burger with fries which was one of the best burger that I've had in a long time, at least several years. The fries were nice and crisp. One of my friends had a salad with locks which she really enjoyed. The other lady also enjoyed her plate, although, I don't remember what she had. The server was really nice and asked us if we were satisfied with our meal, which we were. The seating area was clear plastic tent where we can see the outside. The only downside was that the acoustics were so bad as being really noisy that we had hard time understanding what our party was saying. I'm certain that we will be going back for our monthly luncheon get-together. I didn't know about this place as I liver only a block from the original Cafe Jolie. I have been disappointed with them so hadn't been back in about 4 or 5 years. I will definitely be going back to the one on the Harbor Bay in the near future. read more

Restaurants and cafes were quite scarce in this zip code when I lived here, so coming across this restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The unusual shipping container enclosures and half outdoor setting fit its business park surroundings well. The food is decent--their dishes offer a good selection of ingredients, but the taste/quality is almost indiscernible from reheated takeout. That said, it was more than acceptable given the nature of this place. But by any standard irrespective of their setting, the coffee is excellent and easily worth returning for. However, I was somewhat disappointed that they ran out of lemonade for an Arnold Palmer. How does an outdoor restaurant run out of lemonade before 12:30 PM? I settled for an iced coffee with half 'n half. Perusing the menu I decided to have the croque madame. Croque Madame is a Croque Monsieur with a fried egg on top and included a side of country potatoes and béchamel sauce. The bread is thick, and filled with thinly sliced ham and Gruyere cheese. It was edible, but not something to write home about to mom. The cost was not worth the value. ($16.50, tax not included). Overall, the lunch was okay. My daughter had the Monte Cristo. She said her Monte Cristo was okay. Their special for today was the chorizo scramble. I ordered the special to go. I can only hope it is delicious. The wait time was 40 minutes to be seated. Hostess apologized for the long wait. Our waiter was pleasant and friendly. Service was prompt. Inasmuch as I wanted to give this restaurant a four star rating, I just am not able to do so. I took my mom out for Mother's Day brunch to Cafe Jolie Petit, as she likes the food at the original and wanted to check out this second location. Since it was Mother's Day, there was a 40-minute wait. 40 minutes to sit in a clear tent with umbrellas, surrounded by shipping containers. Well, except on the street side, where you no doubtingly look like a fish in a tank to the cars rolling by. If that wasn't an awesome ambiance for you, the departing Southwest Airlines and United Airlines planes would fill the void of you not actually sitting in a restaurant with walls and a ceiling. If you love outdoor seating or just the feeling of a fancier parklet, then this might be your spot. The food was decent, I had the Monte Cristo, and mom had the Croque Madame. It wasn't anything to write home about. I had the lavender latte, and mom wanted an Arnold Palmer, but they were out of lemonade. Which only added to the disappointment, as a great deal of the non alcoholic beverages are made with lemonade. Service was good. The server was friendly and quick, considering how busy it was. If you ever find yourself on Harbor Bay Pkwy by foot, you'll likely see nothing but faceless business parks and empty shorelines. At least that had been my experience until I saw a set of storage containers that had been cleverly turned into an outdoor cafe. What a pleasant surprise to find that it offers table service for diners in the mood for appetizing breakfast plates and sandwiches. I was here when a rainstorm was about to erupt, and I was encouraged that the space was secured by heavy plastic tarps anchored well into the ground. Even as others whimpered, I felt well protected even though the arctic wind hit the plastic quite hard. I ordered the $15.50 Le Veggie Omelette which was full of spinach, green peppers, red onion, mushrooms, and Gruyere cheese. I love Alameda! This is the sister to Cafe Jolie on the other side of Alameda -Webster Street. Anyway, this location is surrounded by office and schools so one could easily miss it. I know I did, even with using the GPS. Anyways, this is a low key spot compared to the Webster location, which is my style anyway. The food is equally amazing from the hamburger to the French toast. I was craving an avocado toast, and it didn't disappoint. I went "healthy" and accompanied salad was fresh and flavorful as can be. Burger was juicy and cooked to med rare perfection; and French toast was delicious. Service is fantastic :) (also helps that I know of one outstanding staffer in particular).
