The food was great. The service was probably the worst service I have ever had, where the entrees haven't been sent in 30min after we placed the order. At that point, half the table was already done with their meals and the other half haven't eaten. We are not animals- the half that did get their meal ate it as slowly as they could. The food ranging from the Landwer's famous breakfast to the vegan shawarma, to the chicken schnitzel has been consistently good over multiple visits. Local resident had been meaning to check this place out for a while. The food is very authentic and delicious! Highly recommend the eggs benedict and pancakes! Potatoes are also amazing. The organization is very bizarre. We went on a Sunday morning for brunch, it was not very busy but there was still a 20 minute wait with empty tables. The hostess was very nice in explaining these were being held for reservations. It was hard to understand if there were empty tables, and the reservations weren't showing up, why would we still be waiting. It's also a little weird that there were even more empty tables when we left. My girlfriend was also slammed by a door when an angry patron went running out. It's not they're fault, but could have been a little more empathetic or bought us a cup of coffee or something. Prepare yourself for an interesting atmosphere, to say the least read more

The food is good, but not enough to justify the terrible service. When you walk in the door they ask you if you have a reservation even if the restaurant is empty, but somehow that obsession with rules doesn't translate to good service. They use Toast here - that's fine for the menu, but the last three times I've been here the app would not accept my payment - I've tried multiple cards and using the app on a different phone and nothing works. This would be fine if the servers were prepared to take your order, but they are rather lackadaisical and don't pay attention to you despite the restaurant being empty. When they do take your order, they are unfamiliar with the menu and of course, get the orders wrong. Again, normally this would be fine - except I have to ask multiple times for them to correct my order. On my most recent visit, I asked for an iced coffee and got a hot coffee about twenty minutes after I placed the order. I had to ask TWICE for it to be corrected - again, in a nearly empty restaurant. By the time I got my iced coffee, I was almost finished with my food and was ready to go. This is pretty consistent with the other times I've been here. I don't expect to be treated like royalty - I've worked service jobs and I know how difficult they are - but I've been here four times and each time the staff doesn't pay attention to you, and when they do they make multiple mistakes without caring to address them. To be fair, I don't think this is a problem with any individual servers - the owners of this restaurant are too reliant on Toast and they train their servers to be more concerned about making sure you have a reservation in an empty restaurant at 8AM than being familiar with the menu or responding to customers in a timely manner. That being said, the food is very good. If you have the extra time in your day, and can work up the patience to deal with the staff, this might be a good place for you. read more

Food was okay but service was SUB-PAR. My table ordered 4 shakshoukas-- one (mine) came out looking significantly less fresh than the others. Not as much liquid, clearly dried out and old looking, and not hot, so we sent it back. One shakshouka was the wrong kind and we had to send it back to get the right one. Ordered an iced latte -- never got it and asked for it to be taken off of the bill. Ordered a glass of wine -- entire bottle of wine and several glasses came out, which was wrong. We saw the manager go around to all of the other tables and ask how things were but she never once approached ours, which makes me wonder if that's because she knew things were going awry? Disappointing experience. Went on Sunday 6pm with our young children. Moderately busy. Wasn't clear who was working the host stand but waved someone down then seated quickly. No one came to take order. Had to ask for a high chair 3 times. Had to ask manager to get a server. She came over saying "you ready to order?" in a very sullen way. No greeting or hello or smile. Ordered basic foods - pizza and fries and sides for kids and entrees for parents. No utensils or napkins. It took 45 minutes to get the pizza. Asked manager if the fries could come out soon. Finally got rest of food 50 minutes after ordering. Servers never came back to see if we needed anything. We ran out of water - servers never gave refills. Had to wave down manager for the check. The whole time the staff looked miserable. Saw a couple get seated and never helped and left without ordering. Saw another party trying to flag someone down to find out where their food was. Don't know what on earth was going on but I'm definitely never coming back. Why it takes 50 mins to get a side of fries I'll never know. Only upside is the food was hot and tasty. Kids said the "food is delicious but the wait was horrible!" Agreed. read more

This is our second time having food from Cafe Landwer. - The first time we went with friends to have brunch at the restaurant. My gf and I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Out of our 4 eggs, one was poached, the other three were completely hard. We said nothing, as the staff looked pretty busy and it still tasted OK. - This time we decided to have our breakfast delivered. We try to support local businesses and ordered directly on the Cafe Landwer's website, to avoid using 3rd party apps. We ordered at 10:15am. At 12:00am the food was still not delivered. At this point we decided to call the restaurant and cancel our order, and right at that time we get notified that the order is on its way. So we decide to wait... and the delivery guy rides past our house to go more than 2 miles further... In fact they use DoorDash as a delivery service... We ended up getting our food 2 hours after ordering it... and it was cold! Never again. read more

I ordered an OJ, it took another 20 minutes before it came, then it went, then it came back again 5 minutes later, this time with a straw. Breakfast for two was bland and not worth the price. I'm a huge fan of sitting in the outdoor seating here and watching the world go by. I've been here with my wife at least twice in just the last months and we usually order the same 2-3 dishes. For me the best is the Sinia Shakshuka - it's simply perfect. My wife tends to get the chicken schnitzel or the rose pasta, both of which get demolished easily. The only reason I give this place 4 stars is that the seating and kitchen seem to be a little haphazard, which can cause delays. However the staff are friendly, the food good & as a real bonus they are dog friendly in the outside seating! read more

Went for brunch, and the manager was incorrectly wearing a mask the entire time (his nose was completely uncovered) while serving food and talking to customers, all of whom were correctly wearing masks. I had a terrible experience here and it was handled poorly. The food I ordered made me very sick. I called the next day to speak with a manager and we iterated on food ingredients (I have an allergy that I communicated to the server). They get their food pre-made and basically just assemble it in house, so not fresh, and also, they have no idea what the ingredients of some items are. I requested a refund and the manager texted me a receipt with the full refund that must have been photoshopped or something... my bank transaction showed that they only refunded me half the amount and when I called to follow up I was received with another rude manager, then a ruder hostess who refused to connect me to the original manager I spoke with. I do not recommend this place for anyone. Their food is not fresh, nor edible in some cases. They do not sincerely cater to allergies, and you may get very sick. The service is terrible. Tried Cafe Landwer this morning with a small group of friends. We were seated super quickly for brunch time in a Sunday. I ordered orange juice and friends had coffee. We tried the iced Nutella Latte as well- if you're into sweet coffee drinks this one is for you! Was really pleased with the number of vegan options but went with the Turkey Bacon Benedict. I could really taste the flavors in the sauce and the eggs were poached expertly. Turkey bacon wasn't drenched in oil (as it can be at some restaurants) and tasted fresh. The food wasn't hot- warm at best- leading me to believe it may have sat out for a bit but was still delicious none the less. Also had a side of sweet potato fries - which had they been hot I would rec 10/10 Will definitely back! read more

It is very easy to get smitten with the vibe and decor of the place. Yes, the area is charming, but the overall experience was incredibly underwhelming. The beginning service was fine. Seeing the popularity of the restaurant is always a good sign. Even though the place was packed, my guest and I were able to get a table relatively quickly. Massive plus on their part, but in my opinion, the only strong positive of that day. With the food, I decided to go with the recommended Famous Breakfast. While it may look good on paper, it was much of a disappointment. To start, a majority of the meal is brought out on a massive wooden tray-box, which bolds well with the overall aesthetics of the restaurant's culture and decor. But even with that amount of space, a second plate for the eggs made a table for two looked a bit one-sided. As for the food, I was very unimpressed by a simple sunnyside up eggs. Maybe the kitchen was understaffed...maybe the chef rushed the order...the egg broke during the exchange, but when receiving my sunnyside up egg, it was clear that a part of it had already started to ooze out. For people who value food, it's the little things that count. During the meal, there were numerous clumsy mistakes by the staff where at least three times they had dropped a plate, tray, or utensils. Keep in mind, we were there for a good hour. These were not small inconspicuous moments, but gawking head turns that gravitated away from this somewhat "charming" experience. To cap it all off, water was accidentally spilled on me during another one of these "clumsy" incidences. Was anything compted or stated...nope. A simple "my bad" and "let me get you paper towels" only to hand me a roll to do what...a glass that went down my back? Regardless, mistakes happen. But, these are the ramifications for not addressing an issue. I would have pushed for a 3-star from the experience, but the staff and issues I was seeing with service deserves the rating. It might be extreme, but I think I'd rather do "brunch" at a diner in Tulsa, Oklahoma (honestly better than you would think) than give this place a second shot. read more
