Recently, I had breakfast here with a lady friend and found the ambiance to be quite pleasant and conducive to private conversation. When the breakfast arrived, I was disappointed to find only one (1) piece of toast with each serving. I complained to the server, a bit sarcastically, that even the lowliest restaurants served two pieces of toast with breakfast. Upon my request, the server then brought me a second piece of toast, but not for my guest. After hearing my complaint, the man who claimed to be the owner came to our table, and chastised me like a "school boy" (in front of my guest) for being disrespectful to his waiter. I found the owner's "approach" to this incident as excessive, unwarranted, tactless, and very disrespectful in it's own right. Before we left, I apologized to the server for any offense I might have caused him. The bill for two breakfasts, with tip, was was about $35.00. On a scale of 1 to 10, the food was just average (5 stars), the service better than average (7 stars); but, the owner's behavior was so boorish. I would give him "Minus" stars if I could. This place is absolutely adorable! It's the perfect perfect spot for a ladies' lunch. I ordered the salad with curry chicken salad and a side of beets and oranges. It was absolutely delicious! Went for Sunday brunch and they were out of home fries. How is a brunch place out of home fries at noon on Sunday?! They're in the same shopping center as Publix - have someone walk over and buy some potatoes! How hard is that?! Service - not good. Coo-coo waiter was not super friendly and offered no replacement ideas when he told me they were out of home fries - no apologies, no subsitution ideas, nothing. He also left his serving tray on the garbage can outside after he served us our drinks - YUCK! Who wants their food served off of something that had been resting on the top of a garbage can?! Also when he brought us refills on our drinks (after bringing us the wrong drinks) he touched our straws and moved them into our new drinks rather than asking us to do so, or bringing us new straws. Sorry, but don't touch my straw pls! Gross! The owners were also unfriendly. I had to go inside to see what the deserts were (as our waiter didnt seem to have the list on the top of his head) and the owner, who was standing in front of the desert table offered no good morning, no how can i help you, no nothing - just looked like he was unsure of why I was there. So with my girlfriend we decided to come check out this place. I've heard good things about it, unfortunately that was not my experience. First let me state that there is a minimum level of service that should be provided, hot food hot and cold food cold. I am a bartender and trainer, I know and understand the struggles of a server and I am not one to rant. In this case it seems necessary. I ordered the cheese and mushroom omelette, what I received was an omelette with mushroom cheese and onions. I was told later that they were not onions they were leeks, if this is the case it would have been good to know prior to ordering, they add items that are not listed on the menu descriptions...what if I had an allergy! In addition the hash browns came out cold. I told the server immediately so they could fix it, after 15 minutes the server asked me if I still wanted it because they had not started preparing yet. That is terrible guest recovery further more I sat with an empty coffee cup for ten minutes. My girlfriends dish was much better she had the egg croissant, a side of French toast that was incredible. Sad to say her hash brown were also cold. I requested a manager which never came, they took care of the whole bill instead. Which was never my intention, I merely wanted what I previously requested. In my eyes they failed to capitalize on an opportunity and turn around my experience. The place was quite busy and maybe there short staffed the croissant was outstanding so I may give this place another try. But for now I give two stars. read more

It has been a long time since I had such a negative experience in a restaurant. I took my wife and my 96-year-old mother to this place today for Sunday lunch. We ordered coffees and three dishes. After about five minutes the coffees came. The folks around us were served, ate, and after half an hour or so began leaving. When we had been there 45 minutes, and no one had refilled our coffee, or brought us the food we had ordered we went up and found our waiter and asked him if we could get refills. After a few minutes he brought us more coffee. Didn't say anything about the food. After a little longer my wife went up and asked him when he thought we might be getting our dishes? About five minutes later he came to the table and told us he was sorry but they had lost our order and would start cooking it now. Unfortunately we already waited an hour, and had someone we had to pick up at the airport. So we paid for our three coffees and left, with a 96-year-old still unfed and now our happy leisurely Sunday not so much fun anymore. I really want to like this place. We live just a few blocks away, and it seems to be run by a family not a chain. But I think I'll have a hard time getting either my wife or my mother to go back there with me. read more

Let me start by saying that the only reason this place got one star is because there was no option for a zero star. We must have waited for about five minutes at the hostess stand before we were rudely acknowledged, which explains the mixed reviews. The host or server that finally did approach us, simply stated the wait was going to be ten minutes, then walked away before we could ask any questions. all in all we just felt like we we not wanted and neither was our business. I come here every Sunday and never have to wait. Dog-friendly outdoor tables. Addicting chicken salad (I love the walnut chicken salad!). The servers are all so friendly. This place is hands down one of my favorite things about the neighborhood. They also serve wine and dinner, which I haven't taken advantage of yet. You can buy pints of their chicken salad to-go as well, which is great for week's where I'm too busy to cook or make a lunch. The mandarin soufflé is also amazing. Cafe Lapin is a rustic and comfortable little restaurant, nestled away in the Peachtree Battle shopping center. It's the kind of place that reminds you of home-- from the charming, rooster-shaped sugar containers to the freshly baked pies and cookies cooling by the kitchen. I went there for date night, around 7pm on a Tuesday. We were the ONLY table there the whole time... astonishing, because the food was DIVINE. Since it was a slow night at the restaurant, we were served by the chef, which only added to the appeal of this enchanting little eatery. We started with cups of chili- mine, the White Chicken Chili. His, the Sirloin Chili. Comfort foods, perfect for that frigid night. Then came the Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf with Fennel Gratin. One word- DELICIOUS. So were the Scallops w/ Roasted Carrots and Parsnips. Both dishes were perfectly paired with the wine WE brought in (with no corkage fee!). Dessert was a Chocolate Mousse Pie. I've never been a fan of chocolate, but WOW, was that good. We left happy and full. Please, please try this place. It's so good! read more

We are fairly frequent patrons of Lapin, but given the treatment we were given last night-9/16/21-, we do not expect to go back again. We made a reservation for four for 7PM. The table was complete by 7:05 PM. Glasses of wine which are overpriced were ordered. Dinner was ordered. Three items (trout especially) were not available. We had to ask for more bread to go with the wine. Obviously, there was not more French bread available when we asked for more because we were served ordinary loaf slices. The dinner came in a jiffy. The four of us are each over 80 years old...we do not eat fast. We were not told the restaurant closed at 8 PM, because while still eating our dinners, we were asked at 8:10PM whether we ready or the check. One wanted dessert which was brought while we still eating the entrees. I know there is a Pandemic still going on, but, if the restaurant wanted us out by 8PM, they should have told us so when we made the reservation or when we sat down. The check totaled over $200. The prices were agreeable, the food was ok, but the treatment was unbelievable. If you go at 7 PM, order and eat fast especially if you want three courses, so you won't feel unwelcome...and when you make sure when you make the reservation and want to eat fish, the restaurants them. Finally decided to give this a try after walking by countless times. I didn't enjoy my lunch experience here. Ordered a mushroom quiche with a side salad. Perhaps I'm wrong; however, as best I can determine, my credit card number was stolen at La Pin. I got bank alerts to the card's possible compromise, took care of the issue. My card was fraudulently charged with about $800.00 of purchases that I did not make, am told won't have to pay. Of course, I'm without that card until it is replaced. Two waiters helped my friend and me last Monday, October 28, 2019, The tall thin man with an accent helped us first, took our cards, disappeared, and a plump clearly American man finished up with us. Good food in the ptree battle shopping center which is a nice change from the usual suspects. Cafe Lapin is a delightful little restaurant in Peachtree Battle Sopping Center. Lunch is mainly salad, soups and a variety of chicken salads plus quiches which vary daily. Dinner menu changes,but the meat loaf seems to be a staple. Cookies and cakes are the best around and can be taken home easily! Brunch is very good. Omlets are free of ghastly baking powder you find in some breakfast chains.. Service can vary greatly, seems to depend on wait staff on duty, not on the manager. They could work on that but otherwise excellent experience and often the service lives up to the food. read more
