When we are talking about Atlanta and French staples, Bistro Niko has to be in the conversation. Had my first trip there and I know for a fact that I will be back. Let's get into it! Location and Parking They are located in Buckhead on Peachtree Road. Parking was valet only, I believe it was complimentary, but please always tip your valets. Venue and Atmosphere From the moment you step inside, Bistro Niko immediately feels like a romantic date in France. The restaurant is spacious, but at the same time has an intimate feel. There is French artwork on the walls, a Food and drinks Because my wife and I are lovers of charcuterie, it was a no brainer that we get the Le Grad Plat charcuterie board. It was my first time having pâté of any kind, and it is definitely..an acquired taste. But my wife loved it so I let her handle all of that. For mains I had the cajun chicken, which was a delicious double chicken breast that was in a beurre blanc sauce and pomme frites. My wife got a lobster pasta that was the special of the day, and it was one of the best pastas I have ever had. It was also in the beurre blanc sauce, which was so good I went home and figured out how to make it and made some. I hope they make it a regular menu item because it was amazing. For drinks we both got glasses of cabernet. The wine list here is extensive which can be a little intimidating, but if you're not sure what to order you can always ask your server for recommendations. Service Service was amazing, our server was attentive, and suggested good wines for our food, which came out promptly. Verdict Bistro Niko does it right, from the atmosphere, to the food and wine they are definitely serving up a trip to France in the Peach State. They should absolutely be on your list. It was pretty busy on a Sunday evening at 6pm. Bread service was nice. The butter was tasty and the bread was warm. I'm going to be real: The French onion soup was better than the one I had in Paris. It's cheesier and the broth was creamier and thicker. The wife doesn't love onions and I'm not a French Onion soup guy, but we couldn't stop eating this. The only thing I missed from Paris was the crunchy baguette. The coq au vin was excellent. The wife expected dry chicken breast with a tart wine sauce. The chicken fell off the bone and the mushrooms soaked up the delectable sauce. I had the steak and fries because I got the dinner special on the side of the menu. The steak was cooked a little less than my usual medium rare but that's ok. The butter sauce I got with it was good but not mind blowing. I wanted to immediately pass out after eating because the food is heavy. Service was great and noise levels were a little on the loud side. This fancy but not too fancy. Parking is $2 with valet - tip. Maybe just me though: I hate valet parking. Would I come here again? Maybe. I stopped in on a whim for a quick bite. Walking I immediately felt relaxed. Very understated but elegant, but somehow still with a casual feel. I sat at the bar and was well taken care of. I was a little disappointed in the foie gras; well, the foie gras itself was delicious, the bread and preparation did not do much to bring out or compliment the flavor. Unfortunately, this was an extremely disappointing experience from beginning to end. My friend and I had an 8:45 PM reservation. The restaurant closes at 9:00 PM but accepts reservations up until closing, so we arrived, valet parked our vehicles, and were seated for dinner. At no point did anyone inform us that the valet service ends at 10:00 PM. When we finished dinner after 10:00 PM and returned to the valet stand, the valet attendants were completely gone--with our keys. Security for the neighboring building informed us that valet leaves at 10:00 PM, but they do not have access to the valet keys. As a result, neither of us could retrieve our vehicles. We had to Uber home and then arrange transportation back to the restaurant to retrieve our cars later. This was completely avoidable. If you accept an 8:45 PM reservation and valet a guest's vehicle knowing their dinner will almost certainly extend beyond 10:00 PM, someone needs to inform the guest that valet closes at 10:00. Had we been told, we could have taken our keys or self-parked and made an informed decision. Instead, we were essentially stranded without access to our vehicles. Unfortunately, the problems did not stop there. My friend has a nut allergy, and our server never asked whether either of us had allergies or dietary restrictions. They later brought her a birthday dessert, and thankfully, she specifically asked whether it contained nuts before eating it. The server did not appear to know. When you're providing a complimentary dish that the guest did not order themselves, allergy awareness is especially important. The food itself was mediocre, and I actually found a piece of plastic in my dish. When I brought it to our server's attention, his response was essentially, "That's fine." There was no apology, no offer to replace the dish, no attempt to have a manager address it, and no effort to correct the situation at all. It was also very apparent that our server was ready to leave for the evening. I understand that we had a late reservation, but we did not walk in after closing and demand to be served--the restaurant accepted and confirmed an 8:45 PM reservation. If guests who book the final reservation slot are going to receive rushed or diminished service because employees are ready to go home, then the restaurant should stop accepting reservations that late. Between being left without access to our vehicles, the lack of communication regarding valet hours, the poor handling of a food allergy, finding plastic in my food, and the dismissive service afterward, there were simply too many failures to overlook. For a restaurant to accept late reservations, it needs to ensure that the entire guest experience--including valet and basic food safety--is actually capable of accommodating those reservations. The ambiance was so cute with all of the holiday decor I felt like I was walking into Santa's workshop! I absolutely loved all the nutcrackers and gingerbreads and lights everywhere! The main dishes we had were the duck, chicken breast, and steak dinner all of which were juicy and very flavorful! Then for dessert we had the lemon tarte and a puff pastry. Another stop on our french tour of the states. My partner and I try to visit in French restaurant in whatever city we are visiting. This was our stop while in ATL. The service, I think, should get special mention. They were all so lovely and attentive! Even servers that weren't taking care of us checked in frequently if we were okay or needed anything! We were in Atlanta visiting family and met friends for brunch at Bistro Niko. It was a Saturday around noon, and there were only a few other diners. I ordered the Omelette au Fromage - I chose Gruyère cheese, mushrooms and tomatoes (please note the $3 charge for each item other than the cheese). The omelette was very fluffy and light, filled with a nice filling of cheese and veggies! The potatoes were also very good and the bread was as good as any French loaf I've had! We had the Profiteroles for dessert - a little disappointed, as you can see in the picture, no pastry shell! Went at the beginning of January for a visit to Atlanta and heard about the holiday pop-up at this place. It did NOT DISAPPOINT! The decorations were fabulous. I was seated promptly, and I had the nicest waitress. I got the omelette with duck fat fried potatoes, and everything tasted so good. Even the bread that they brought to the table with butter was amazing. I splurged and got a dessert which was vanilla ice cream with a brownie and fudge sauce. Still a classic. One of Buckhead Life group's success stories. Its vibe is classic French bistro. Maybe sharp casual is the best way to describe the dress. Service is white glove style. Returned to Bistro to celebrate my son's fourteenth birthday and overheard another server describing numerous specials when our server hadn't offered any. I politely mentioned to manager Ryan I was disappointed that we weren't offered any of the specials the other server offered to her table. He not only apologized but had that server (Georgia, who's wonderful) take care of us for the rest of the evening, and gave us two complimentary desserts with a candle for my son's birthday. The table settings were pristine along with the service provided by Nicki, our server. Nicki greeted us with a huge smile, warm greeting, and an abundance of love and joy. Nicki truly took my Bistro Niko experience from a 10 to a 100. LoL!!! As we engaged in conversation, we placed our orders and everything flowed smoothly. From the delivery of the drinks, to the bread, to refills, and finally the food. Bistro Niko didn't skip a beat when it came to providing superior quality and Nicki matched the tone by providing superior customer service. I decided to order the Mushroom Burger and it was impeccable. The beef was high quality. The meat was well rested and the flavor profile shined alongside the mushroom encrustment and toasted bun. In preparing for a Paris trip, experiencing the food was interesting. It was butter heavy but tasty. Service was so so. They were pretty busy but someone managed to come by and refill the sparkling water which made me more full. The food here will put you in a food coma. The hubs and I had to literally take a nap right after getting home. It was a must! For a Valentine's Day's lunch that weekend, there was a ton of people. Surprisingly there was a lot of people with their young kids so there was a mixture of people of different phases of life. The food breakdown -- Pommes frites: Don't get the fries, they are the most plain and lackluster. We thought there would be pazazz because this is a nice place. No. There're kind of like Steak n Shake fries to be honest. Sausage maison: The sausage was surprisingly pretty tasty. It's not like the salt heavy ones or sweet flavored ones like the Jimmy Dean brand. There was a nice texture and meaty bite. It's the subtle difference that makes everything else seem inferior. House cold smoke salmon tarte : This thing was superbly delicious and had a nice visual when it was brought out. It was the different textures and colors: the white creme fraiche and green capers were subtle in their flavor but added that nice pop of color. The minced red onion pieces on the other hand made up for the flavor. And the salmon laying atop the thin flatbread crisp had the opposing textures and flavors. Georgia Mountain trout meuniere: The skin on the fish was thin and crisp. The fish itself was flavorful with a hint of nuttiness. And it was wonderful on the pomme puree. It was like butter in your mouth, though there was an apparent layer of butter at the bottom. Haha. The thin green beans were a complimentary choice. It just goes well with mashed potatoes you know?! Crisp duck confit: The duck's skin was crispy. The meat was moist and fatty. It's prepared differently than the Asian variations. I really enjoyed the bed of frisee salad; it made things more fresh and healthy. The potatoes cooked in duck fat was indeed fatty and had a nice bite. Parking is sadly not validated. We paid like $12 or $14 for the 1.5 while we waited and dined in. And that parking structure was confusing as heck. I kid you not that I had 3 rounds while trying to find the correct exit. Have been there twice. Both seafood and service were great. The restaurant sits next to the Buckhead station and just 0.5 Mi from Buckhead shopping mall so it is very convenient to have a meal there. It features French cuisine with beautiful dining rooms and a casual atmosphere. The first time I tried this restaurant was on Christmas holiday and I did a walk-in. The restaurant was full of lovely decor and happy diners. I ordered skate wing as my entree and a side of sautéed spinach. I never tried skate wing before but it was lightly crispy outside and very juicy inside. Paired well with the capers. Service was not slow even if the restaurant was packed with people. Then I had my second meal there today after shopping at Macy. I ordered the sea bass substitute creamed spinach for green beans and jumbo asparagus. The fish was grilled to perfection: skin was crispy and meat was tender. I also liked the way they cook the asparagus--it seemed to be boiled or steamed, which retained the sweetness of the veggie. You can get valet parking here for $2, take advantage because if you know Buckhead you know parking is non-existent. The restaurant ambiance is fancy and upscale, with cute Parisian theme decor everywhere. The menu has great variety and made it hard for me to make a decision. I was stuck between the Kobe beef bourguignon and their 3-course meal for $50. I went to why the 3-course meal so that I could get an appetizer, entree and dessert! I ended up getting the Coq Au Vin for my entree and it was absolutely to die for! However, I will be back to try the beef bourguignon sometime. Also, the crème brûlée was absolutely delicious. Overall a tasty French restaurant in Atlanta! For appetizers, we ordered the escargot and crab cake. I love how garlicky the escargot was. The crab cake was also very good, well seasoned and not too salty. For mains we ordered the salmon, paillard of chicken breast, trout, and the steak sandwich. The trout was cooked well as was the salmon. The steak sandwich was tasty, but I wasn't completely blown away. These were all solid dishes, but I think I enjoyed the appetizers more. For dessert we ordered the rhum cake and flourless chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was good- it is you're classic flourless chocolate cake, which I thoroughly enjoy but not unique. The rhum cake was interesting, not what I expected. It was good, and I still enjoyed it, but the cake was a little on the dry side. The syrup it sits in helps remedy this, though this citrus flavor in the sauce is rather overpowering. Service was good, no negative comments in this area. We came for lunch on a weekday, and there were many business meetings happening around us, but it wasn't too loud which was nice. Their Christmas decorations were still up, which doesn't bother me. I feel like it adds character and goes with the overall vibe of the restaurant, but it is something to note if you are someone who is adamant about only having Christmas decor up in December. read more

Upon arriving, we were told there was outdoor seating available (we had a reservation). The hostess led us to a table on the edge of the patio in direct sunlight. We asked if we could move to one of the open tables in the shade and were immediately told they were all reserved. I asked to speak with the manager, and suddenly we were told we could choose any available table. We pointed to one and were seated. Unfortunately, after waiting 30 minutes, no one had greeted us, or taken our order. I went to the hostess stand and asked to speak with the manager. Teodor, who identified himself as the manager, approached and his first words were, "What do you want?" I was stunned. I explained that we had been sitting for 30 minutes without any service. His response was, "Well, you wanted to sit outside, so that's why." At that point, my party and I got up and left. I've been dining at Bistro Niko since it opened, and I had even been there just last week. It's incredibly disappointing to be treated this way, especially as a longtime customer. Poor service is one thing, but having a manager blame guests instead of addressing the issue is unacceptable. I'll think twice before returning. read more

Had a wonderful team dinner at Bistro Niko! The restaurant was bustling on a weeknight and I felt like I was dining in a French bistro. My impression was that it's a popular dining spot in the Buckhead area. The menu is quite extensive and I was able to try a few different things. The escargot en croute was to die for and you better believe I dipped some bread into the butter sauce. I also really enjoyed the ahi tuna tartare and the gougeres, which were perfectly light and cheesy. My Kobe beef cheek bourguignon entree was enormous and the beef cheek was braised well and incredibly tender. Fries were thin, crispy and salty and I had profiteroles to end the night. Came here for dinner on a Sunday, it was a great experience! Started off with the Crevettes en Feuille de Brique appetizer, which was great for 2 people to share. Super tasty, not fishy at all. For my meal, I ordered the Fresh Seafood Tagliatelle Pasta, which was not only a great sized portion, but tasted super fresh. The picture I took doesn't do it justice! I also got 2 drinks: a Le Bon Rhum cocktail and then a Lemondrop as well, both were awesome. Food: Lots of items to choose from in the menu but we finally decided what we were going to order. We got the trio cheese board, and they were all exquisite. The fig crackers were yummy too, sweet and crunchy. I also had the French onion soup which I enjoyed very much. I liked the flavor, and the amount of cheese on top. The bread sopped up the broth and was yummy. I had the beet salad, which was great. The vinaigrette was yummy and the beets were nice and crunchy. For my entree I had the salmon with golden quinoa and citrus vinaigrette. Wow . The salmon was cooked perfectly. It was soft and fell apart very easily, it was not dry at all, and there were even crunchy bits with pockets of flavor. The golden quinoa with the vinaigrette was amazing. It went from citrusy to olive oily in a very smooth transition. Finally, for dessert I had the tarte au citron, the meringue was great with little charred bits, and the filling was tasty, not too tart and still sweet. I liked the sorbet, but it was very tart. It was super refreshing though! Service: We had a really great server, Tomika (I hope I spelled it right) who was helpful and kind. She was very talkative and made sure we were taken care of. Atmosphere: This was really adorable, I loved everything in it. From the music, to the calming lights, to the cute pictures. It was very spacious and it was cool to see the kitchen when you first walked in. The ceiling was cute too with all of the lights and everything. Overall: I had a great, relaxed time.
