When leaving the establishment I let the hostess know of my disappointing experience and suggested that if they can't source quality mussels, they should take them off the menu. She did not offer at least an apology while explaining that it is one the restaurant's favorite dishes. Having great PEI Mussels elsewhere perhaps at a different time of year, I know that the Anise Café could do much better. Someone needs to tell the chef to refuse delivery of substandard seafood.

I've read many reviews to talk about slow service and I have to say it is not slow service. It is simply them telling you that they are not rushing you through a meal that is to be enjoyed in an amazing ambience. And they let you move at your pace, which is fantastic. She checked on us frequently, and brought our drinks and food in a reasonable amount of time too. The food was great! They had a large food menu to choose from, and everyone in our group enjoyed everything. I ordered the savory buckwheat crepe and enjoyed it. They also have a dessert case loaded with very tasty desserts! I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in the area!
