Really enjoyed my time at Elise! A pretty penny but would recommend for an elevated date night before heading to the high museum or going to see a show at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The decor is elegant, minimal, and chic. I enjoyed the smoked oysters, clam and linguine, and the halibut. Everything I ordered I shared with a friend. They also do the simple things well. I enjoyed their bread service and their water menu. Cocktails were pretty good including color theory and the green curve with gin. Didn't have any issues with service, they were attentive but we did have to rush things along at the end so if you're in a rush - I'd keep that in mind.

Just went to Elise for the first time last night and it was fantastic. I'm not sure what those two negative reviews are talking about. First, the ambience was simple but elegant, red drapes over the window's and dark lighting gave the place an almost gothic mood. Second, the food was incredible, I wish I took more pictures. We started with a sourdough which had a wonderful finishing salt and a lightly whipped butter. Then we tried this mixed gazpacho with parmesan ice cream (I know it sounds strange), but it had such a unique flavor and felt so novel, a must try. Finally, I finished with the duck breast in the picture, which was one of the most delicious things I've had in a long time. The blackberry reduction it came in was absolutely incredible. This is fine dining, so do expect the cost to match, but for a special night give this place a try!

Went to Elise after getting engaged and loved it! We had the bread and cornbread, gazpacho, risotto, and dunk breast. They were all tasty but the duck was the star. Would definitely recommend!

For appetizers we shared the bread and the mussels. The sauce on the mussels gets a 10/10 although there were some sandy/crunchy bites (I'm just super picky about that!) I spilt the steak frites- it was okay but a little too charred/cooked for me. The fries were really good! Everyone else really enjoyed their meals and my gimlet was perfect! I'd love to go back and try some other items on the menu that I might like better.

While disappointed I shrugged it off. Nevertheless; I ordered mussels last night. I asked our waiter if the mussels were good and plump and he assured me that they were. Much to my disappointment the waiter brought out my dish, soggy fries along with minuscule and tasteless shellfish. When leaving the establishment I let the hostess know of my disappointing experience and suggested that if they can't source quality mussels, they should take them off the menu. She did not offer at least an apology while explaining that it is one the restaurant's favorite dishes. Having great PEI Mussels elsewhere perhaps at a different time of year, I know that the Anise Café could do much better. Someone needs to tell the chef to refuse delivery of substandard seafood.

I'm going to be real: The French onion soup was better than the one I had in Paris. It's cheesier and the broth was creamier and thicker. The wife doesn't love onions and I'm not a French Onion soup guy, but we couldn't stop eating this. The only thing I missed from Paris was the crunchy baguette. The coq au vin was excellent. The wife expected dry chicken breast with a tart wine sauce. The chicken fell off the bone and the mushrooms soaked up the delectable sauce. I had the steak and fries because I got the dinner special on the side of the menu. The steak was cooked a little less than my usual medium rare but that's ok. The butter sauce I got with it was good but not mind blowing. I wanted to immediately pass out after eating because the food is heavy. Service was great and noise levels were a little on the loud side. This fancy but not too fancy. Parking is $2 with valet - tip. Maybe just me though: I hate valet parking. Would I come here again? Maybe. French cuisine is not usually my first choice but there doesn't seem to be a ton of competition around the area.

I also had the classic and grapefruit gin and tonics and they were delicious and worth the money. Service was very kind and attentive. For their happy hour, you have to sit at the bar or at high tops, which was fine for my party of 2. Cool ambiance. My one complaint is the $16 burger which was good, but pricey for a happy hour "deal" and didn't come with fries. Overall: nice upscale spot for drinks and small bites during happy hour, some items are not worth the price (like the burger) but everything tastes great and high quality.

Little trick is that if you decide to use the valet in the little square area, they will validate your parking. However, since it is located in Buckhead Village parking can be a challenge at times, however very cheap at two dollars an hour. This is significantly cheaper to downtown Chicago or any other section of Chicago equivalent to Buckhead Village where it is over $14 an hour on the street parking. Anyhow, let me say that Pedro our server was fantastic. He is so full of personality and courtesy and super patient with us. I've read many reviews to talk about slow service and I have to say it is not slow service. It is simply them telling you that they are not rushing you through a meal that is to be enjoyed in an amazing ambience. And they let you move at your pace, which is fantastic. You can tell by the photos we ordered quite a bit of food and everything was absolutely delicious as there were no leftovers whatsoever My only complaint about the place is first the velvet chairs and benches make it very hard to scoot on in or get off Further, you have to pay for bread service here, which I do not believe in. Considering the prices, the bread, even if it was minimal bread and butter should be complementary. I will definitely be coming back here again, whether there be this location or their other locations in the south or even New York This is a must stop and worth every penny!

However ... five of us made a reservation, for 5:30, our plan was to eat a celebratory birthday dinner ( two birthdays) then catch the sunset on the roof. We should've known there would be issues from the drink order: A vodka tonic order yielded a vodka soda even after she confirmed he wanted tonic, not soda. The other drinks came out at different times. We ordered bread and our salads and entrees. Then the server brought out a plate of deviled eggs " a gift from the chef!" How nice. They were good, we appreciated it. Our entrees were OK: Short ribs were rich and meaty, redfish was good but a bit overcooked and dried out, pork was OK, mussels were good, but the bread wasn't grillled and was slathered with almost inedibly salty garlic butter. The salads were meh. We had wine and water and asked for our checks so we could make sunset. She brought back one check for two couples and a single. We asked if she could split it. She came back a few minutes later, after we sent the birthday folks to the roof for sunset, she said we could "just throw a card down" for the combined check. We reminded her that we wanted to split the check. She completely forgot. Several minutes later, we go our checks. Those deviled eggs that were supposed to be a "a gift from the chef?" They were on one of the checks. Thanks so much for the gift. Anyway, we quickly paid and made it upstairs before the sun was below the horizon. The roof is awesome. But Tiny Lou's is a one and done. Not worth the price. Not special. Would rather just eat at home post-sunset.
