Never disappoints!! Last night we had the Petite Auberge salad and asked to share. It was brought to us in separate dishes beautifully presented. Every bite was delicious! Beef Wellington and Truit Amandine for entrees were wonderful! Bread pudding for dessert topped with ice cream was the best we've ever had! Easy parking. Came for lunch. Service was very slow. The lunch menu is very American- hamburger, beef lasagna, beef and cheddar crepes. I got the salmon croquettes - they were hot, and not too fishy but a little too much filler. Hadn't been here in decades so it was fun to try it again. read more

I recently went to Petite Violette right as it opened for dinner. When I arrived, I pulled into a pretty large parking lot. And I had plenty of parking options to myself. But when I left, I noticed they then had valet. So not sure if you will have to pay or not to park there. Upon walking in, I loved the decor outside. It allowed me to start getting into my French frame of mind. When I walked in, I was instantly greeted and seated. But they did asked if I had a reservation, so I would recommend getting one for higher volume times. I sat at a table where I had a great waitress and beautiful paintings near me. I ordered French onion soup, a kid royal cocktail and it came with some bread. The soup was delicious! I would recommend going here! read more

First time at Petite Violette. Building outside is pretty shabby. Interior also unimpressivdecision. table clothes to upgards the ambiance so keeping it dark is a good decosion. Definitely could use an interior update. On the other hand, food was quite good from the rolls, salads, entrees, and desserts. Beef Wellington was out of this world cooked to a perfect medium rare, it just melted in your mouth. Grilled Salmon was good but not anything to brag about. The sides of asparagus, mashed potatoes, green beans, and rice were decent but again, nothing special to brag about. Presentation was a bit disappointing for such an upscale type restaurant. Service was good but lacked warmth and friendliness. Definitely worth going to for the Beef Wellington and Baked Alaska. Food 3/5 but 5/5 experience - we had such a fun time during the holiday murder mystery dinner and show at Petite Violette! The actors do a great job of making it a fun time, and they provide kitschy costumes and props for key participants. It was a larger group than we expected - well over 50 people, I think, but it gave a wide range of participation options. The timing was also pretty well paced to time for eating, chatting within our group, and engaging with the show. Food... For $81 pp plus gratuity, the menu should better reflect the French restaurant that hosts this event. Portions were also extremely small - think, not well fed at a wedding - including just one small pour of table wine with main courses. The appetizer setup was terrible - a chafing tray in the corner and some cheese, essentially. They didn't have anything to accommodate the dietary restrictions of our group for apps. Dinner options were more accommodating. The food tasted fine, but I'd prefer to even pay a little more and get an actual Petite Violette meal. At the end of the day, most people are likely to return to a restaurant more often than they are to a dinner theater experience. The restaurant should consider this and feature their actual menu a little better to make people excited to visit again. read more

And I loved my trout. The salad was too over dressed and the apple tart was just completely miserable and forgettable. Not sure it still fits French, portions were huge. American sized. We had a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner at Petite Violette. This restaurant has been serving up delicious French cuisine in Atlanta for over 50 years and I can't believe this is my first time here. Upon entering the venue, we were greeted with a smile and I was given a rose! Very nice touch! They went all out with the decor as well. The price fix menu was amazing. We feasted on the steak tartare, lobster bisque, salad, lamb chops and ohhh the lobster tails!!! We ended our meal with crème brûlée and bread pudding. Divine! Our server was wonderful. Came here for the dinner show on a rainy Friday night. Complimentary (mandatory) valet service. Tickets purchased online and added gratuity prior ($100 pp). Appetizers were a bit lacking - cheese and crackers, fried mozzarella bits, chicken skewers and tiny pizza crackers - but the rest of the dinner was solid (fresh salad, beef dish was good, cheesecake at the end). I love French food and have wanted to try this place for a long time! My husband and I came for lunch. He had the Rueben (a special) and he said it was one of the best he's ever had. I had the escargot, which were cooked perfectly, though I didn't love the puff pastry that came with it. I also had a pasta, which was very good. The server was polite, though not friendly. Not sure if this is because of the atmosphere or just the server. Overall, the food was good, we felt the place was a bit stuffy, and it was an expensive lunch. We've had better for less money. While we may not go back, we would recommend it as a decent French place. And my husband loved his sandwich! read more

Unfortunately, it breaks my heart to say the food was disappointing. The Foie Gras was delicious and the mussels were good. The bread was like a stone. The Caprese Salad had half the amount of cheese, the tomatoes were soft, and the greens were over dressed. The lamb was tough, the fat was not rendered, salty, and covered in the sauce that goes with beef Wellington. They remade the lamb and it was still salty and tough. The Trout Meunière was covered in the same salty beef gravy they tried to convince us it was browned butter smh. They remade it without sauce but unfortunately the rice pilaf changed to steamed rice. The cheesecake was grainy, dense, and burnt. The crème brûlée was a snotty texture, burnt, and strange flavor to the custard. The manager was very nice and fixed our bill. I enjoyed trying something a little out of norm. Petite Violette has customary valet, and are quick to open your car door and greet you. The inside was a little strange, it felt small but there were doors, everywhere! The heat clearly wasn't on either, so make sure to wear a coat. The waiter was okay, once we started ordering he perked up a bit. Definitely get the french onion soup! We probably would come back during lunch and not dinner. read more

Sheilah Williams took my girl and I to this elegant little place near her home. From the front of the building it is impossible to image what waits for you inside. It is cozy yet it feels formal from the moment you are seated at table. The wait staff is very good giving prompt service after you are seated. The wine selections are excellent. The eclectic menu offers many options including Beef Wellington and Beef Borganione. I misspelled that. My girl ordered a veal dish, I got a salad with spinach, grapes, walnuts and goat cheese dressed with vinaigrette. I got the beef borganione as my entree. The salad was a bit too large, I should have ordered it split for 2 but it was delicious along with the fresh baked bread which is complimentary. Having eaten it all I had to take a third of my amazing entree home. I washed it all down with a hearty Cabernet Sauvignon. I don't know if I will ever return to Atlanta but if I do I will return to this restaurant! read more

A wonderfully quiet, elegant dinner! Celebrating a loved one's birthday, this was a surprise outing for them. The white table cloths and lighting were a very nice touch, along with our patio view, with the light rain on the leaves. Our waitress, took our orders and served them quickly, with savvy. Though, the wine selection, imho, could be a slightly higher quality, but the entrées and desserts themselves - EXCELLENT! Had a chance to attend (and participate in) Murder Mystery Dinner at Petite Violette this past Friday. Took my mom and sat with some friends. Everyone has a role to play - as big or as little as you can take! Although my character died in the first act, I had fun bringing her to life and then watching everyone else take on their characters! The actors are so amazing and took on every diff role they played with gusto! The room was a little cold, but I was draped with a towel - shroud of the dead?! Came back to life to eat - totally worth it! I had the chicken dish while mom had the beef! Mine was good but I enjoyed hers more! Wine, coffee and tea were served with dinner. Not being a drinker of any of those I asked for a coke - not included. The dessert was so yummy, and I ate it all even though I was stuffed! Our server was very attentive! You can tip when you make your reservation but we left more! Be aware - valet is required. No cost but cash tip. We plan to go back when they have a new show! read more

Délicieux! This was not my first time at Petite Violette, but it had been far too long. I decided to take my boyfriend to dinner here as a belated birthday treat. I am so glad I chose it because he loved it! We will definitely be back. Wine: -Belle Glos Clark & Telephone Pinot Noir. This is one of our very favorite wines, that goes with everything. Appetizers: -SALADE PETITE AUBERGE Fresh Mushrooms and Avocado tossed in a Creamy Avocado Dressing served with Sliced Hearts of Palm, in our House Vinaigrette. This salad was so flavorful! We loved the creaminess of the mushrooms contrasting with the tart vinaigrette dressing on the salad. It was plated beautifully as well. I'm sorry my photo doesn't do it justice. -MOULES MARINIERES Mussels, Shallots, Parsley, Butter, White Wine, Garlic, Cream and Toast. Wow! I would come back even just for these mussels alone! The broth is to die for... If I didn't care about manners, I would have picked up the bowl with both hands and drank the broth like a soup! Believe me, I was tempted. Entrées: -NOUILLES AUX LEGUMES Tagliatelle Asparagus, Tomato, Mushroom, Parmesan, Pernod Cream Sauce. + Add: Saumon (Salmon). The sauce itself was so layered! You could taste every ingredient in it. The salmon on top that I chose as my add-on was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. -SEABASS FLORENTINE Chilean Sea Bass served over Whipped Potatoes and topped with fresh sautéed Spinach, Olive Tapenade. This was the entrée my boyfriend chose. He loved it, and shared bites with me. Everything was so good. That olive tapenade was especially noteworthy... he literally cleaned the plate, making sure every drop was finished! Service: -Laura was our server this evening! She was so friendly and helpful, and always seemed to find our table at the perfect time, when we were ready to order or needed a minute. We loved her! Ambiance: -Comfortable and cozy. There was a mix of casual and business casual attire on the patrons. We dressed up a little more (you can't tell because my boyfriend took off his blazer, but he wore a suit with a tee and sneakers, and I wore a long sleeved short sequined dress), but we didn't feel overdressed. Tried once Never again! I was very enthusiastic about eating at a restaurant that had been open 50 years. The menu looked promising with classic French dishes. My comments address food not service. Lunch on June 18 ranged from mediocre to terrible. Beginning with vichyssoise, soup had not been strained properly and had pieces of green onion tops, yes the throw away end of the onion or leek. Taste subpar. Trout entree, did not think it was possible to screw up a piece of trout. Grossly overcooked and dried out over tasteless rice. Why didn't I send it back? There are just some days that you don't want the hassle. It's the chef/owner's job to not let that dish leave the kitchen. Desert was mediocre flourless chocolate cake. An added touch was bringing me sweet tea when I ordered unsweetened. read more

So we met some friends last night for the murder mystery theater dinner and it was a blast! The actors and staff were so pleasant and fun! They make an effort to include everyone during the dinner production, some really simple and others more involved (if it's a special occasion for you, you're gonna get a starring role!) Everyone laughed and had a great time. The meal included appetizers, a salad, a choice of a few amazing entrees (look for my picture of the menu) and a dessert. I chose the shrimp and pasta and was satisfied, it was delicious, but I stole a bite of my husband's salmon and it was more along the scale of amazing. There was a bar in the back especially for the production, but it was running kind of slow, so we went up front for drinks. The specials were noticeably more "loaded" than some drinks, so be careful if you have friends who like to push toward alcohol poisoning cause you're a bunch of mama's who don't get out much with more responsible husband's driving. We did have a friend with us in a wheelchair and it was just a hair difficult getting to and from the bathroom, but staff noticed and happily assisted us in moving a few things around and opening wider doors to get us around. I have read the positive reviews but I have to say I didn't see it. On the positive side the ambiance is very nice and my server was good, though not great but I was beyond disappointed in the food. I had the veal piccata with risotto which had I taken a picture of it resembled a bowl that dog had vomited in. It was very unappealing but I assumed that anything that looked that bad had to taste better. Unfortunately the veal was tough and flavorless and rissoto was gummy. I love french food and this is no way resembled that. The absolute and tonic wasn't great either. Either is was not absolute or the tonic was bad and no lime came with it. I will say the crabcake appetizer was good and wish I had stopped there. I rarely give bad reviews but I was so looking forward to this dinner and I've been to enough restaurants to know and appreciate good food. Very unfortunate. read more

Live, harmonious string instruments. An attentive manager, socializing all around the restaurant with guests. This place truly has unique features that make it like none other in hospitality. Things you should know: I. PARKING There's only valet parking, so make sure you have some cash on you. It makes the parking experience easier. II. SERVICE A little slow, especially to order, get our drinks, and checks. Not like we were in a rush, but it was noticeable. I have a feeling they're low staffed so please be gracious with your waitress. She had someone shadowing to add to her stresses. The accommodating manager, striking up conversation was an interesting quirk. She grabbed our drinks after noticing our extended wait. Nice little checks and balances. III. QUALITY The trout was cooked perfectly ~ tender. We never had a Beef Wellington to compare as a baseline, but Petite Violette's was an explosion of flavor and texture. I highly recommend! Also recommended the French Onion Soup..! It's not overloaded with salt like most restaurants fail to do. Besides, if you like salty soup, you could always add more. IV. Made a reservation and came here on a Tuesday night for a birthday celebration. The inside of restaurant looks much better than the outside. Our server was "Cat/Kat" who told us she had been working for the restaurant for 10 years. She was kind and hard working but had way to many tables and couldn't attend to us well. The mushroom salad was interesting and not sure I would order again. Complimentary bread was too hard for my liking. I enjoyed the ribs (although they weren't cooked medium rare as I requested). My husband enjoyed his fish entree. The bread pudding was phenomenal. My chocolate cake wasn't good at all. All in all, I have mixed feelings and I'm not sure I would return. These are my thoughts: - Ambiance needed an update. - Wellington was overcooked, the pasty was hard and there was a minimal amount of sauce. - Service was NOT acceptable- although the restaurant was packed, there is no reason to wait 16 minutes from finishing your salad (very tasty) to being served the entree (no wonder the Wellington was overcooked). This review is specifically for the mystery theatre FOOD, not the regular restaurant. The show was great, the service was great. First: Valet parking in a miniscule parking lot is plain stupid. There were many unhappy guests who stood in 48º drizzle waiting for your valets to get their car that was LITERALLY 10 feet away. This is an affectation and you need to LOSE THE VALET. Now, on to the food served to the unfortunate souls who are there for mystery theatre. This meal was $70 per plate plus gratuity. We spent about $200 before we stepped foot into PV. When you added drinks we were at about $260. The bartender (Eric) was excellent, we enjoyed our French 75 and Dirty Martini. The hors d'oeuvres were: cubed cheese & grapes, frozen beef meatballs w/ flavourless sauce, a flatbread w/ roma tomato, parm and balsamic glaze (stale, flavourless) and something that was chicken. Once. All these things were absolutely tasteless and low quality. They set the tone for the evening. Next course was surprisingly good. Salad is hard to mess up, but the homemade dressings (French and Ranch) were outstanding. This is the only fresh, hand made food served in this meal. The entrées were DISMAL. 100% frozen, prefab crap from Sysco/USF. Salmon Piccata: The salmon was prepared properly but bland. There were a few capers and some parm on top of the salmon with only a whiff of lemon. No lemon on the plate. This was served over boil in bag rice, unseasoned, with machine cut, out of the bag vegetable medley. The veg was about 1/2" dice, overcooked and flavourless. Chicken Cordon Bleu: Straight out of the freezer box and into the fryer. It was overcooked and dry. This was served on top of INSTANT POTATOES with a straight from the Knorr mix sauce. Same nasty vegetable medley as the fish. Dessert course was a frozen chocolate cake round (dry) with a prefab chocolate mousse and prefab chocolate syrup. Flavourless. DISMAL. The show was great, btw, but the meal was absolutely nasty. Look, PV, all but three of the 60+ people at that show had never been there before, including us (the actors asked at the start). I (being in the industry), can see that what was served to us was not the regular menu. I surveyed the dining room and saw the food from the regular menu (the lamb looked AMAZING). HOWEVER, you just served frozen, nasty cafeteria food to 60+ people who now think that is how you cook there. Cranking out 60+ plates all at once is a challenge - I GET IT - but you cannot serve this nasty food to people. They WILL NOT COME BACK. The point of these special events is to grow your customer base, is it not? You made $4200+ plus bar drinks, but you'll never see those people again, I can promise you that. We might possibly come back, but if we have to fight with a valet to park and pay $35 for an entrée that may or may not be excellent, hmm, maybe not. You are not doing your business any favours by serving a separate, very low quality menu. If you feel that your kitchen simply cannot manage anything else (as a cook/caterer, I BEG TO DIFFER), then at least make it CLEAR on the website and ALL your advertising that the food served for the mystery theatre is NOT your regular menu food. Had I known that, I'd have passed on theatre and perhaps just booked a regular table. I was there for the food. It was a VERY disappointing birthday dinner, I can tell you. No photos, because the food **looked** ok to the naked eye, until you tasted it. Service was great, the show was great. This review is strictly about the FOOD. read more

The environment was very welcoming and the host was very nice with great energy. We ate at the bar and the service was awesome. I forgot the gentlemen's name who severed us but he was amazing and knew the menu very well! He also made the best White Russian I've ever had! The food was great, everything we ordered was on point. I would definitely recommend because it is definitely worth the experience. They also have a murder mystery night Fridays and Saturdays that you would have to make reservations for.
