We're from out of state and our friend who lives in the neighborhood recommended this place. We came for Sunday brunch and the wait times quoted were actually much shorter than mentioned. They have ample seating including the front patio, indoor seating and back patio. This was back in November 2021 so don't know if any seating has been removed. Food wise, I got the Benedict and was not disappointed. Hummus appetizer was also amazing. Service was good and attentive. My daughter ordered the pancakes but basically ordered maple syrup with a side of pancakes. That's how much we had to bother the server to keep bringing us out additional syrup... kids lol Their brunch offerings all looked and sounded delicious so if we're ever in town again, will def have to stop by again. Decent food and nice vibes. Went to Cafe Mogador for dinner, the restaurant is really cute and had a nice ambience. The service was quick and efficient and the food was good. However, the drinks were a bit water-down and bland. I ordered the mango martini, and was a bit disappointed cause I could barely taste the mango. We ordered the hummus and falafel platter and Babaganush as a starter, the falafels were great, crispy exterior and fluffy interior. The hummus and babaganus were mediocre, both were a bit bland and need more salt. Both were serviced with a delicious fluffy pita. For entree we ordered the vegetarian curry and veggie couscous. Came here on a Friday night around 8p and it was definitely crowded inside so we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table for 2. After getting inside and ordering, we had a great experience with everything. The only thing I want to point out is that it was hard for us to flag down our server and ended up having to ask other servers who were around. I'm assuming since they were so busy that's why it was a little hard. Usually a very crowded restaurant and for the most part the wait isn't super worth the food. I'd recommend going here once if you haven't been before, but afterwards the only time I'd return is if the wait is less than 20 minutes. You can easily expect to wait 1-2 hours for a table here, especially during brunch time on a weekend afternoon. The chicken tagine is a must get here, whether its over quinoa or rice, you can't go wrong with either. The chicken kebabs are a hit or miss, can be dry or not flavorful at times. The hummus and falafel are average, not mind blowing but does the job. This restaurant is not much different from the East Village location. You don't feel overwhelming full after all the food, especially on a hot summer day. *FOOD* Halloumi Cheese 10/10 My first time trying this and I am a cheese lover. Slighly cripsy on the outside and soft on the inside. I honestly did not want to share these. Spicy Carrots 10/10 I never liked carrots and never would have ordered these but so glad my friends did! These were so tender and had a nice kick. Labne 10/10 So light and slightly tangy. It was perfect to dip with the warm pita Tabouli 10/10 This salad was so refreshing Lamb Tagine 10/10 Fall of the bone tender lamb without any gamey-ness. Very savory and pretty big so definitely would share this! Malawach 10/10 The flakey Yemenite flatbread was so crunchy with a hint of sweetness. Came here at 11am on a Saturday and was seated within 10 minutes. Beautiful outdoor area in the back of the restaurant. You have to get the falafel. I'm not huge on falafel but I think I'm a fan now! The outside was so crispy and the tahini paired really well with it. It also came with some kind of hot sauce--be cautious! I would come back just for that. The pita is spot on. Delicious. The hummus is good too but I've had better. Nothing too crazy. The tabouli salad on the middle eastern breakfast is perfect. Give me a whole bowl of that please! My friends and I have dined at this location multiple times over the past few months and recently celebrated a birthday. I've always been sat down promptly, which is a plus factor because we know how often wait times can be an hour + in popular restaurants in NYC. The restaurant itself is dimly decorated and spacious. Unfortunately, the waiters are consistently aloof with helping with dishes and drinks. They can also be pushy about ordering multiple rounds of drinks or if you're here to dine without drinks at all. A bit odd behavior on the staff's behavior. That being said, the food is delicious! My favorite is the lamb tagine dish and babaganoush appetizer. The lamb tagine isn't gamey, which I appreciate. Interesting menu, different than things in immediate area. Losing stars: service was slow and not very attentive - at a time when things were winding down. I came here with my boyfriend and a college friend for lunch. I expected the wait to be nonexistent, since we had stopped by on a weekday afternoon, though I was a little surprised that the place was still a little packed. Luckily, we were still able to get a table with very little wait time. The menu is pretty straightforward: you have small plates, larger plates, salads, sides, breakfast and brunch items to choose from. The three of us shared the spicy carrots, eggplant with tahini, and mixed grill, and there was still a little bit to take home as a leftover snack. I'm usually not the biggest fan of Moroccan food, but Cafe Mogador does everything so well. The spicy carrots and eggplant, which came with a side of pita, were the perfect starter before our mixed grill came out. Even though the larger plate took nearly 40 minutes to arrive to our table, the wait was well-worth it, because the meat and basmati rice were cooked and seasoned beautifully. Of note, our server that day was incredibly nice and conversational, which added even more to our dining experience at Cafe Mogador. All in all, this was a great restaurant to visit for a casual lunch. read more

Delicious! Great food & great service. And bonus, we parked less than half a block from here. We got here around 11 & we're able to sit right away outside. We got the Mediterranean breakfast & I think it was shakshuka (eggs in a spicy tomato sauce). They also have a lunch cocktail list. I got the elderflower rosemary spritz. I asked if it's like an aperol spritz & the waitress said yes but not very confidently & it was nothing like an aperol spritz but it was still good & refreshing. Everything was tasty. Picture that scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when the bad guy drinks from the wrong grail, and the knight fellow quips, "He chose poorly." I totally felt like the bad guy (the same actor played Grand Maester Pycelle in Game of Thrones, thanks Wikipedia) since I think I ordered the wrong dish at Cafe Mogador and felt envious of a dinner companion who'd gotten the lamb instead. It wasn't terrible, just didn't have too much oomph. Dish in question: chicken tagine with Casablanca chickpeas, raisins, and caramelized onions ($23) with couscous. Next time, I'm going with the lamb shank tagine with stewed apricot and prunes ($28) or the bastilla ($26). For sure. Our party sat outside in the heated, enclosed space. Cafe Mogador doesn't take reservations for groups, but you can call several days in advance, let them know you're coming, and hope for the best. I was seated near a curtain which kept blowing onto me as it was a gusty day. We split a couple of appetizers and shared a dessert which worked out well. And like Daario Naharis (apologies for another GoT reference), towards the end of the meal, our server was replaced with a new server without any announcement. I've heard claims that Cafe Mogador is one of the best 10 restaurants in NYC so we had to try it out. We walked in around 8pm on a Friday night and there weren't any tables open but we were immediately seated at the bar. At the bartender's recommendation, we got mango martinis, the paratha and calamari for apps, chicken kebab and special menu duck confit for mains, and crème brûlée and mint tea to finish. The paratha, calamari, and crème brûlée were heavenly! The duck and the kebab were pretty good.
