Great vibe
Alex S.

Best coffee in the middle keys and I've tried them all. High quality espresso drinks, great iced mochas. Not burnt coffee. French owners. Been several times. Also a lovely garden atmosphere, where are you? Can sit outside on the trees and plants, and there are small boutique shops in the complex. Way better than strip mall coffee or Sbucks. A hidden gem in Islamorada.

Come with me to Cafe Moka, located in The Village Square in Isla Morada, FL. A cute stop while visiting the Florida Keys. We made a pit stop on our way to Key West and found this place with cute shops and a coffee shop. They have a good selection of drinks and baked goods. I loved my iced latte.

Cute area, the village square has some nice boutiques and cute little places to shop. Loved the outdoor seating. The cappuccino was pretty good.

Absolutely love this tiny hidden Cafe in a garden. They have the best almond crescents in all they keys. Service is a walk up counter where you place the order and it's always quick.

Small peppermint mocha with almond milk

The whole area of Village Square was recommended to me by a couple that is friends of ours. They frequent the Keys often as they actually down down in Long Key so their recommendations come in quite handy! Since this is the Cafe Moka page in particular I will focus on my experience with that. Cafe Moka is adorable! I picked up a peppermint mocha with almond milk, my husband had a bottle of Natalie's orange juice, which is quite frankly one of the best oj's around! We also shared an almond croissant. We took our food and sat down in one of the many seating areas around the entire Square. For those of you familiar with South Florida, this place reminds me very much of Aguacate Sanctuary in Kendall, except no animals. I highly recommend that place as well:) My mocha was yummy - I wasn't looking to fill up too much so I only had a bite of the croissant. It was good...a bit too rich/sweet for me, but my husband loves it, since he has a sweet tooth. I will definitely be stopping here for coffee and snacks every time we come down to the Keys....I would rather support a small business rather than the local big chain...Trust me, they will be fine! Do yourself a favor and pull into the Village Square parking lot and walk through the gate - It is a completely unexpected and quiet garden area with a etsy-ish boutique, plus artisanal booths with plants, etc...

When you first enter , get ready to be blown away by their wallpaper & almond croissants. I would be lying if I said this isn't my favorite most expensive cafe. But guess what, keep the quality of food + drinks the way it is & a flock of people will come like ducks at a park. Just wave the almond croissant around like bread. Haha. Okay on a serious note, if you're a frequent you receive a 10% discount which is given as an incentive & thank you, but there is something about a REWARDS program that is just missing. That is the ambiance this cafe needs. I believe this would highlight "community" like a flag for the customers like myself that come probably first thing they open, that is, just to see the smiles of all the baristas. Everyone is so kind here, just for a brief 5 minutes of my morning entering the cafe adds a happy stain on my smile.

My husband and I are coffee snobs and always look for the best coffee when traveling. This latest trip to the keys took us to Cafe Moka and it's by far one of the best coffees we've ever had. Rich, bold, flavorful and hot. It actually tastes like fresh ground coffee beans. There's no bitterness at all. The seating area is outside in a lovely garden with a lot of shade.

Very cute coffee shop with great outdoor seating! The coffee was very good and the baked goods looked awesome although I didn't try. Great place to sit outside and relax.

Caramel macchiato & spinach ricotta pastry

I have been meaning to try this place, but every time I am at the Village Square, it is past their open hours. Today I made it there on time! I was greeted by a friendly woman behind the counter. This charming cafe is nestled in Village Square, a quaint hidden gem in Islamorada. The pastry with spinach and ricotta was absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed my iced caramel macchiato as well. The outside area is such a vibe. Definitely worth stopping here for a coffee and a pastry on your way through Islamorada.

Iced latte

Food was good. Chocolate croissant was great. Ordered an iced latte, this is more milk than I'm used to, can't taste any coffee

Little hidden gem if you need a stop to stretch your legs. There is coffee, burritos and an excellent plant shop. I grabbed an iced Caramel Macchiato. It was very well made. It was nice to stroll around and look.

We also got the key lime pie with a little meringue on top. It had that same kick from the key lime but it was really good and surprisingly light. I got full pretty quick, but that seems to be a pattern on this trip. Neither of us are key lime pie people. We like it fine but we don't go out of our way for it. Since we were here though, when in Rome do as the Romans do, so we figured we'd give it a shot. It reminded us of that episode of Dexter where he's helping a friend who is dying and she wants to find the best key lime pie. That was kind of the energy we had going into it, just looking for the experience. I also picked up some white chocolate covered cherries but we haven't gotten to those yet. We'll report back on those. Overall it was pretty good for what it is. If you're a key lime fan I think you'll really enjoy it. For people like us who take it or leave it, it was still a solid choice and I'm glad we tried it. My wife felt the same way.

My little guy devoured his pancake breakfast. The kids pancake was huge and came with bacon, his favorite. My husband got the slam and enjoyed it, especially the French toast. Our server was Lexy. She was so friendly and accommodating to our little one. He was so happy the entire meal, which doesn't always happen with a toddler. I'd recommend trying this spot next time you're in the Islamorada area. For a comforting meal, with a local vibe, it is a spot not to miss.

Corned Beef Hash/Fried eggs and hash browns. Very good plate for what it is. Coffee was also hot and good. Our server was pleasant, professional and was always smiling. Unfortunately, she nor anyone offered us refills on our coffee-VERY LAME for a breakfast place. OK, now my 2 COMPLAINTS besides not being offered more coffee; 1) There was an added $1.85 "Carry Out Fee". We did NOT order our food to go, we ate there. I'm sure that they ALWAYS add that fee to all the checks and hope that it doesn't get noticed! 2) They have a tipping guide at the bottom of the check that recommends different gratuities based on THE AFTER TAX AMOUNT! That's FBS! Tipping is based upon the food & drink ONLY, and should NOT be calculated including the tax! That's 2 ethical practices that they do to take advantage of their customers. Shame on them!! Diners BEWARE!!

The staff was very gracious, especially considering the late hour at which we arrived. I was able to practice my Spanish during ordering, including inquiring about vegan options. The lady taking our order was very patient, and carefully packaged everything up securely for the drive home. We ordered white rice, black beans, boiled yuca with mojo sauce, and sweet plantains, and everything was delicious. The rice had more flavor than your typical white rice, the beans and yuca were seasoned perfectly, and the plantains were just bliss. Although we were hungry we still had leftovers for the following day, and after tip the total was $23. For affordable, authentic, delicious Cuban food you can't go much more right than Sunrise.
