This was my first time at a French restaurant, it was okay (good not great but not gross). I ordered the Sandwich au Jambon (ham sandwich) and it came with a small (plain) side salad. I liked the relaxing atmosphere, and their drinks (martinis). The prices are reasonable and the service was good. Don't get the pho, it's a joke -- unless you want a few pieces of meat, broth, and a small bit of noodles for $13 plus tax and tip. No basil. No bean sprouts. No limes. No jalapenos or any fresh peppers. Not even any hoisin. This hidden jem in Reston by Lake Ann and a small community. It is a super cute spot where the crowd is a mix of working professionals in their late 20s- early 30s, families and retired folks. The food is a fusion of Viet and French (not the snobby type of French). I enjoyed the outdoor seating, sipping my red wine while people watching. The kids has a fountain nearby to play in the summer heat. We ordered a few dishes to share between the two of us. The pate and tomato salad was very refreshing and delish. For main entree, I had the spinach quiche, my bf had the seafood spicy sauce pasta. Overall, we were 80% full, but that was good enough for us. We walked around the lake afterwards. The sports bar next door had a younger crowd and more hip furniture. This spot catered to an older crowd. But hey, that can't beat live music! read more

When I come here I always go towards there Vietnamese inspired dishes and they are always great. I love pho and I'm always trying new pho restaurants but I gotta say they do pho right here! However there small size is smaller than other pho places so I would suggest doing a large. They also have things like a kids size chicken tenders and fries which i feel like most kids love, so we were both happy eaters. Also I'm not a huge ice tea drinker but I am when I come here, there ice tea is so good, you can tell its freshly brewed. Service is always friendly and attentive. read more

When the weather is right, and dining outdoors is in order, this is a wonderful place to go. (Chez Francois is better, but in another league) The people watching is fun, the feeling of Lake Anne is wonderful, and the food is really good. The menu is varied enough to make just about anyone happy, and the service seems to be that they actually care about the experience of the guest. We had a variety of dishes, and each one was fresh and flavorful. The wine selection was good for a casual place like this, and all in all, it was a great experience for the $$$$ spent. So, if you are thinking of eating outside, and trying to figure out a place to go, go here...and they write a review so others can see how good this place really is. And, if you are the owners of this place, it would be nice to have nicer chairs. I understand that they cost $$$$, but if the seats were more comfortable, this would make your place a better place to dine outdoors. read more

I and two co-workers had lunch there today. We sat outside under the cool suspended umbrellas. I had the shrimp bisque soup and Viet pork sandwich. We were seated immediately and asked for our drink order. After a few minutes, we were served hot french bread (thin and thick crust) - tasted like it just came out of the oven. The food took a little longer than we would have expected (being the only customers at the time), but it was well worth the wait. The shrimp bisque was by far the best I have tasted - creamy, smooth, flavorful, not too salty, Mmmmm. The pork sandwich was unique - an unusual blend of flavors: cilantro, slaw, sweet sauce, cucumber, with a generous portion of tender sliced pork on a crispy french bread roll. The server was attentive, but not obtrusive. My bill came to 13 including the tip, which was reasonable for the quality of the food and service. read more

Dreadful. Chaotic kitchen. Vietnamese pork and shrimp platter with vermicelli was dull. The vermicelli has no moisture or flavor. My wife had the hamburger. They won't cook them rare, so this was a hockey puck on a bun. We came for the musical cabaret because we knew one of the singers. Great location. Lots of possibility, unfulfilled. read more

It is nice to sit down outside and enjoy the concerts on Thursday, but the food was not impressive and overpriced. The serving staff was subpar. The saucisse creole was mainly pasta with little sausage, though the portion seemed large enough. For $16, it did not seem to be anything special and looked like it was just thrown together without any thought. I had the Vietnamese salad special with marinated beef strips served over top cold rice noodles. This was more authenticate, but the salad served had Cesar dressing (weird?), and the beef was not seasoned and overcooked making it tough to cut and unable to eat with chopsticks. I'd much rather go to a true Vietnamese restaurant and pay $12 instead of $20, get a larger portion and better prepared. The Thai restaurant in Lake Anne has better food and would prefer to eat there over this place. There were no doggie bags like most restaurants. read more

Had the Quiche Lorraine and salad, both excellent with a nice Vouvray wine and a Banana tart with Chocolate for dessert. Everything was homemade and fresh. If you are into French food with a little mix of Vietnamese flavoring, this is the place you must try. The portions are very generous compared to other French rest. For the quality of food that you get the price is incredible, it could have easily cost twice as much in downtown DC but my main thing is the food is excellent very well seasoned. We tried 7 different plates here and I really loved them all. I don't yelp too much but had to take the time out to let people know about this place. Also last but not least, there's live music, atmosphere is very, very nice and the staffs are so well trained and friendly. If you love food you must try this restaurant. read more

There a parking lot for a gas station and a few other places... I was not sure where to go and followed other people on foot to the main area where there were a few places to eat and a lil lake. The area looks rundown and nothing is clearly marked. This is not a place I would go at night. I did not feel like I was still in Reston! Walking in this place no one said hello and a I saw my group and sat down. I told the older waitress this was my first time here and I needed a few minutes to look over the menu. She did not seem happy with that and quickly came back for my order! I asked if there was any bread or snack foods and she said no! A french place with-out treats?? I ended up ordering cheese and apples that come with bread. I had to ask for the bread 10 minutes after everything else came. She was just not nice! The food was okay... I could just go to the store buy it myself! I will not go back there! read more

Terrible. I ordered a hot tea, requesting Earl Gray or English breakfast and was provided a Lipton tea bag (and charged 2.95). My wife ordered French toast and was given a Kraft packet of fake syrup. The fruit accompanying the breakfast entrees lacked quality and quantity. Service was mediocre at best. Lake Anne continues to disappoint in all areas, and this cafe is not recommended. read more

We often hold luncheon's at this event and are always pleased with the service and the food. The food! It is a great value for the price and always unusual and delicious. My new favorite place in Reston. This is the best time of year to go fro brunch. I have had the crab quiche which is fantastic. Crust is flaky and come to you not microwaved. If you like Escrogot this is the place to go. Amazing! The Bloody Mary has just the right about of kick to it. Anh, Kevin, Alyson and all the staff of Cafe Montmartre, did all that they could to make our son's surprise 50th birthday party a big success. To the last detail--menu, cost, food, décor, media, service and smiles--everything was perfect! Due to the atmosphere the owners and staff created, everyone at the party felt welcomed and relaxed. The separate party room worked very well for us and even though there was a ukelele lesson going on next door in the other part of the restaurant, we were not disturbed and even enjoyed the music they provided. It was a pleasure working with Anh on the menu and costs, while getting to know her philosophy for running the Café. Kevin was a big help with the set up for the power point show for the party. And Alyson expedited the decorating, suggested the florist, helped with the group shot, as well as made sure that the birthday cake and champagne were set out in a timely fashion, ensuring that everything flowed seamlessly! Our kudos also to the chef, as the food was excellent and all of the wait staff were discreet, efficient and did their jobs with a smile! Congratulations to everyone! We will definitely think of Cafe Montmartre the next time we plan a party and I'm sure in the meantime, we'll also stop in at Café Montmartre for some good dining! read more

My bf and I went here a couple of weeks ago for dinner. I was a bit hesitant about coming here but decided it wouldn't hurt to try. I ordered Le Full Monty (Grilled Marinated Chicken Breast on Croissant served with Caesar Salad on the side) and it was NOT good at all. I took about 3 bites and stopped eating. The chicken had no flavor, there was no sauce in the sandwich, and the caesar salad didn't even taste like a caesar salad. I am one of those that hates wasting food (especially if I'm paying for it) and will usually eat half of plate but none of it was edible. Service was good but after we were done, we waited a long time for our server to give us the check. I was irritable about that. Anyway, talk about huge disappointment and let down.
