    Steak sandwich
    Kelsey K.

Came in and ordered a steak sandwich to go today. They asked how I wanted it cooked I said mid rare. Got home and there wasn't enough meat in it to justify $20 it was chewy and overcooked. Why ask for temp if you're not gonna follow it anyway? Fries were good but again for $20 I'd expect a few more

Truly a hidden gem! I was a little hesitant about going to a French restaurant that also had Vietnamese food but cannot deny how great the combo was. I was so conflicted picking between the two menus because it all looked so good. Service was fantastic and the servers were wearing their masks while serving patrons. The tables however were a little closer together. Either way, I got the fried tofu which was ABSOLUTELY delicious! My brother and I scarfed that down very quickly! Our entrees were delicious as well! I got the quiche and my brother the salmon. The salmon was buttery and decadent. The pastry crust for my quiche also had so much flavor so you can only imagine how yummy the actual quiche was. Definitely will be back here again!

    French onion soup and escargot
    Amy L.

Who would have thought there'd be good French food in Reston? I couldn't decide between feeling super French and getting the escargot or being a basic American and getting the American-friendly french onion soup, so I ordered both. I'm so glad I ordered both because they were both delicious! If you've never tried escargot, the texture is similar to a mussel or clam. Kinda chewy (and unappealing to some people). But the real star is the garlic butter sauce that the snails are bathed in. It tastes soooo good and I love dunking bread in the garlic sauce, then eating it with a piece of escargot! The French onion soup was classic and tasted great! The cheese was bubbly and the broth was flavorful, without being overwhelmingly salty. I'd definitely order it again! My friend got the crab quiche and she seemed to really enjoy it! It was a good serving size too! My only minor complaint is that the outdoor tables could be a bit further apart. I don't think they were all 6 feet apart, but at least I sat outside. The servers all wore masks as well, so I felt safe overall! Definitely will be returning here on the next warm covid winter day!!

The food was so good! I had the escargot with the wonderfully crusty bread to sip up all the mushroom gravy and the cha gio. The family is so nice and the food was a wonderful surprise. I was there at dinner and it was not busy-- please go support! The French / Vietnamese fusion is so good! I will be back!

Albeit I do not have much to judge on except the cappuccinos were so fabulous I had to order 3 and my friend ordered 2 yesterday. But I will now never go to the coffee shop at Lake Anne to get coffee, I will come here for PERFECT cappuccinos. But the one thing that applies to all their customers is how personable they are with customers. I saw them come by the table just to say hello, many different staff stopped by. And I saw them checking with all the patrons that were there as well. My friend describes the atmosphere like the TV show Cheers. She is a regular and they do know her name. And I love establishments that treat their customers so well, and so valued.

Great restaurant by the water at Lake Anne!

Really good food, service and outdoor eating area. They had a huge 7 piece band playing and though they were very loud, it wasn't as bad sitting outside and they were very good. The food was excellent. The French onion soup was good, a little on the sweet side which is not what I prefer, but adding a little ground pepper made it better. The cheese and french bread in the crock made it a special. Had the trout almondine with rice and veggies. The rice tasted like a good basmati and the vegetables were tender and seasoned well. The trout was very good, though had more oil than I would have liked. It was cooked well and tasted delicious. We split a creme caramel that was also very good. The meal was paced well and our waiter kept returning as necessary to check on us, fill water, get other drinks, etc... Very nice place by the water, beautiful night to sit out. A little on the dark side depending on what table you sat at. We were fine on where we sat, but would recommend putting lights up to make it easier for patrons to see after dark. All in all it was a good meal, great service and I'll definitely be back. Its nice that I live so close to this restaurant around the lake!!! Highly recommend a visit here.

Nothing exceptional but good quality, good food And a fair amount of steak in mine for $16. I wish I could say the same about the service or lack there of provided by the two young female servers. For starters, they have zero communication skills. They drop things at the table and just stand there without a word. I did not receive the Vietnamese coffee that I ordered until I asked for it nor was I asked whether or not I wanted it with whipped cream - there's was no description on the menu so I wasn't aware it came with whipped cream. When we placed our order we asked for extra cilantro and received no cilantro at all. Once the runner delivered our food no one came over to ask how everything had turned out, if we needed anything else etc. The lack of communication, lack of attention to detail and quite frankly complete lack of personality turned a pleasant afternoon meal into a disappointment. It's a shame because I saw several other things on the menu that I'd like to try but I'm not interested in being in that unpleasant atmosphere again

After seeing that Pho Duong was getting good reviews, we decided to give it a try. We were here on a Sunday around 4:30. That was a good time to go as there were only two occupied tables at the time. When we entered, an employee was eating his meal. He told us to pick any table we wanted. After doing so, he gave us menus plus a carafe of iced tap water, which we appreciated. I ordered a small bowl of pho ga with white meat chicken, and my husband ordered a large bowl of pho with seafood. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive. It was piping hot and accompanied by aromatics consisting of bean sprouts, fresh mint, lime wedges, and sliced fresh jalapeños. As for the food, we both liked the beef broth. My bowl had some large shredded pieces as well as smaller pieces of chicken. The larger ones were on the dry side, but the broth helped by adding moisture. My husband's large bowl had a good number of shrimps as well as seafood, which he couldn't identify. He showed me one piece that looked like a scallop to him, but he said it didn't taste like one. I also thought, from what he showed me, there was some squid in the bowl. Service was excellent from start to finish. When it's time to pay, you go to the counter, and an employee will ring you up. The place was kept very clean. While the decor is spare, it gives off the vibe of a good spot to enjoy a meal. And, yes, next time we want pho, this is where we'll go.

Indeed, most of the Vietnamese clientele in the small restaurant seemed to be enjoying hot bowls of bun bo hue, so I went with a bowl of that and my non-beef-eating wife chose the bun rieu. The bun bo hue possessed a clean yet very flavorful broth with notes of lemongrass and hot chili. The meat portions included generous slices of beef shank, pork trotter, blood cake, and pork sausage. Some of the beef shank cuts were a little tough, but the meats otherwise tasted up to par. The accoutrement of herbs and veggies included some authentic, hard to find garnishes such as banana blossom and Vietnamese coriander, which added a fresh, crunchy bite to complement the heady soup. Overall, this was an excellent bun bo hue and rivals many you can get at Eden Center. Similarly, my wife's bun rieu was superb. The broth had a light body but a very distinct and savory shellfish flavor. The crab and shrimp paste had a very silky texture and the bouncy fried tofu cubes soaked up the tomatoey broth perfectly. The bun rieu ran just a touch salty overall, but nonetheless is among the better renditions we have tasted in the area. Our bowls were about $18 each. While a bit steep, the portions satisfied and the quality of ingredients merited the cost. As the name alludes, bubble tea is also served here. My wife enjoyed a solid taro milk tea along with her noodle soup. We have gotten drinks from here in the past and find the offerings above average though, unlike the awesome soups, not necessarily worthy of a dedicated stop. Teabreak also serves other Vietnamese dishes such as banh mi and meats over broken rice, which actually looked quite appetizing coming out of the kitchen. I give this place a solid 4 stars for really tasty, specialty noodle soups and can easily foresee a five star upgrade in the near future after sampling some more dishes.

Ordering is quick and easy through the iPad, and I went with the Beef Perfect Bowl over rice. The portion alone impressed me. It came piled high with grilled beef, fresh greens, rice, and even an egg roll, making it feel like a complete meal rather than just a rice bowl. The beef was flavorful, the vegetables added a nice freshness, and while I'm trying to cut back on carbs, I have to admit the sticky rice soaked up all the savory sauce and was hard to stop eating. The only thing I would do differently next time is ask for jalapeños or another spicy topping. I like my food with a little more heat, and I think that extra kick would have taken the bowl to the next level. There are a handful of tables if you want to eat there, but I grabbed mine to go. Hidden gem is an overused phrase, but in this case it actually fits. Generous portions, solid flavors, and reasonable prices for this day and age.
