I think this restaurant has a ways to go. It's so cute and pretty inside with a great wine list and they make a great cocktail. Our bread delivered quickly to the table was dense and cold absolutely no crumb. Weird. It was very strange. With a nice Herb butter though. I should've sent it back. I was surprised that the escargot didn't come with grilled or toasted bread of some sort. Was pretty tasty. Mussels had quite a few sand in them. And I was also surprised the fries didn't come with some kind of aïoli. But I did really enjoy the broth that had a definite kick to it. The beef was good, nice and hot. and the crème brûlée was great. It really is such a cute place. I would love to see the food upscale a bit more. Might come back in the future. Our first dinner at this French bistro in the heart of Vienna was really good, but our second, one night ago, was not. The service was rather half-assed and slow (which is authentically French, to be fair); my trout was kinda warm, and bland; the pea purée was cold; and the dressing "on the side" of my green salad was placed in a container in the middle of the salad, which spilled and coated more than half the salad by the time it reached me. read more

Cute inside and the food was okay. I had higher expectations - some items were a hit and some were a miss. Service was sooo slow despite it being a decently empty weekday night. I tried the mushroom appetizer which was really delicious and served in such a flaky pastry! This was a big size and great to share. I also tried the trout as my main dish and it was definitely lacking salt and the fish itself was a little bit fishy and not my favorite so I left a decent amount of it . It also seemed like a pretty small serving size. Lastly, I tried the chocolate mousse for dessert which was amazing and light and I really loved this dish! Smaller dessert size as well. I think the entrées are a bit of a miss at this place. I am not sure I'd be back when Evelyn rose is right next door. read more

My friends and I channeled our inner Ina Garten and her love of French food and booked a table at Le Bistro for our inaugural book club meeting. I had loved the previous tenant Blend 111 and was happy to see that it kept much of the same Church Street charm that it is known for. The restaurant went from slow to packed on a Saturday evening and I was glad that I had made reservations on their website. + Drinks: Nothing too trendy here but loved the vintage throwback to popular drinks of the past such as the French 77, Kir Royale, Aperol Spritz, and more. We also ordered a Cote du Rhone for the table to share -- sadly it was out but they sent out a nice replacement that we all enjoyed. + Food: We ordered the pate de campagne to split and did not enjoy it at all. Not only was it served ice cold, it was wrapped in a puff pastry that was very unexpected. I am sure others enjoy this dish, but it was definitely not for us. Le Bistro is a wonderful addition to the Vienna restaurant scene. We opted for the restaurant week menu, which offered a nice "tour" of their dishes. The servers were all friendly and attentive, which I always appreciate. Food: highlights were the Onion Soup Gratin (amazing!) and filet of Trout Amandine. My date thought that the meat quality of the Steak Frites needs some improvement. Oh - and the bread with herbed butter was fresh & delicious. The featured desserts were the perfect way to complete our meal. I especially loved the Bistro Mousse Au Chocolat with raspberry coulis. I will most definitely be back! read more

We recommend their Taiwanese mee fun. Few restaurants were able to flavour their mee fun just right.

Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars. The service was 5 starts but the food was a mixed bag. We started with bread and butter, the baguette was the warm and crispy perfection! The escargot was quite enjoyable with the baguette. I expected fresh parsley and garlic, but it tasted like a frozen version. The onion soup was suspiciously too sweet! The Duck Confit was pretty good, but the meshed carrots were way too rich with duck fat in it, and the fried potato cubes were over salty. You see the pattern here? Someone in the kitchen needs to lighten the hand! The best was the Lamb Tenderloin, not overly salty with plenty of meat and vegetables, just the way I like it. The Sautéed Spinach was also too salty and we couldn't eat more than a bite. We took it home to give it a hot water bath. But we did indulge a little dessert, the macaroon was not overly sweet, just right! I'm glad that we have a French bistro in the hood, albeit the food was way too salty for us to fully enjoy. The aesthetics and vibe of this restaurant is on point with French theme. We ordered a mussels which was cooked with creamy leek and that dish alone deserves a 5 star. It came with French fries and wish there was an option to substitute. I do have to say the service seems to be on a little shaky grounds since they may need more help. We went in when it first opened and it wasn't crowded but it was hard to get them to come by. We wanted a little more bread to dip in the mussels and had to ask 2-3 times. Once more dinner crowds got in they were more attentive. I'd like to come back and try other menu items and hope to see it gets better. read more

Yallll this place is PACKED! Okay Vienna I see that you like French and not Latin American. I loved the place that was here before Le Bistro, but I guess Vienna couldn't appreciate it. Anyways. Service was great! The host was fantastic and made sure we were comfortable, as he sat us near the back door and it was chilly every time they opened it. The manager came by a few times to check in, which was nice. My husband got a steak and was pleased with it. I ordered the duck and wish it were a little more tender and juicy. 3.75 - service was fantastic - friendly and helpful (which I didn't expect after several bad experiences with service at their sister restaurant Roberto's). Decor has been changed from the earthy Blend 111 space to generic French paintings with grays and whites that make for an upscale casual vibe. The front of the house seating was very drafty - we were so cold we had to cover our legs with our coats. Food was a bit hit and miss, but the highs were very high. Their bread is out of this world (I was told they source it from a special bakery in New Jersey). The server recommended a "rabbit foie gras" appetizer - I didn't know what he was talking about so I said let's try it. Unfortunately, the dish was like a bland, dense, rabbit meatloaf. It had little to no flavor and the texture was unappetizing. When the server asked for feedback I let him know it was bland and overly dense - he apologized and took it off the bill. The manager came by to ask for additional feedback and was very gracious. My salade lyonnaise was delicious (could've used a touch more salt, but great otherwise). My wife really enjoyed her tomato and fennel soup. Unfortunately the fish special (dorado - or mahi mahi) was underwhelming. The fish was cooked nicely, but lacked flavor. The sauce was delicious too - but something about the way the food was plated didn't allow for the sauce to accompany the fish as it was buried underneath green beans and mushrooms. A couple small tweaks could make it good though. I sadly didn't get a photo of the duck confit, but I have to say this dish stole the night. Super crispy skin with tender, juicy, succulent meat. The potatoes on the side were extra garlicky and served as a great delivery mechanism for the jus served on the side. I would come back time and again for that duck. Our server recommended the apple tart for dessert, and we're so glad he did. This is one of the best desserts I've had in months. Flakey, buttery pastry with perfectly sweet and tart apples served with house made ice cream were all incredible. The portions were generous so we both left full. The bill was $126 which I thought was reasonable. Despite a couple of misfires this place was good, and we will definitely be back. read more

I've always like Le Bistro. The menu reminds me so much of my mother's cooking. I went there yesterday for my mom's birthday tribute and was so disappointed. The service wasn't very good. It took forever to get my cocktail and the bread. I love the bread because it's perfect to dip in all the good sauces. But by the time I got the bread, my escargot was cold. I ordered Bouillabaisse and it was really bad. The cod was actually hard on the top. The sauce was so thick, not a broth. It came with two small pieces of bread that weren't very warm. Really, I must've been the only person who ordered that for so long and they just brought out an old one. The coq au vin my son had was very good and my daughter enjoyed trout almandine but there are so many other good places in Vienna to go to so unfortunately I won't be coming back for a while. read more

My wife and I had an absolutely amazing dinner at Le Bistro on Church St in Vienna tonight. They start off with bread that comes with French onion whipped butter. I started with a glass of Bordeaux and my wife had a sparkling white wine. I had the steak fries, and my wife ordered the duck confit. The steak was cooked perfectly, and very, very tender. The fries were excellent as well. The duck confit was also amazing, it comes with a potato side and both came with a side salad. Did I mention it was an absolutely amazing dinner? I guess I did but it's worth repeating . For dessert we shared snow eggs with caramelized almonds. A fluffy, sweet delicious end to our amazing dinner. We will return, probably many, many times, and we both highly recommend Le Bistro. read more

Excellent dining experience! Had a reservation for 7 people and we were sat right away. The appetizers were delicious, especially the snails in the parsley butter. Dip your bread in that butter and you won't be sorry. All the entrees were great however, the star was the duck confit! The service was wonderful and very attentive. The restaurant is cozy, inviting and charming. We have been here for brunch as well which was also a treat. This restaurant will continue to be on our list! read more

Snails were very tasty and tender. The bread provided at the table is nice. They are friendly and welcoming. The chicken was tender. Onion soup was good. The trout was good. The curry mussels were salty. Not the mussels but the broth they were in. I would order the other sauce next time. The duck was also salty. read more

Great authentic French food. I had a delicious creamy pea soup and Trout--perfect combo! Steak Frites and boeuf bourguignon were wonderful. They have a wagyu hamburger that was tasty but about 5 inches high and hard to eat. Service impeccable. We were a party of 7 celebrating a birthday. Our server was friendly, personable, quick and had full command of the menu and wine offerings. Front of the house staff were very solicitous and noticed I had mobility issues and kindly suggested an easier way for me to get back to the car. I ate here with my wife and another couple. The server was excellent; the space was attractive, romantic, and indicative of a fine meal about to be served. We all had craft cocktails, and all were pleased with the result. They have a good wine list. The food was incredible. The Good - Pate and Onion Soup were very good. Wine selection is nice too. The Bad - Main courses - Steak Frites, Pork Chop and Duck Confit were mediocre at best. The Duck was especially dry and tasteless. Chocolate tarte for dessert was way too cold and tasteless as well. Crust was dry and hard. The Ugly - Reservation was for 6:45p but we did not get seated until 7:30p. Host said "people arrived late and ordered late so sorry. Please have a drink at the bar until your table is ready." 45 minutes wait and they didn't comp us anything. Not free drinks, not even dessert. Oh and by the way they charge you extra to use a credit card. Seems like if you are in for fine dining at high prices, Roberto Donna should eat the credit card fees. Sat at the table in the very back and had the perfect view of the dirty dishes being dumped by the dishwashing section of the kitchen by the wait staff. There is no reason that any patron in that restaurant should have to see that from their table. The owners should put partial wall or something. The wines we ordered were great. It was restaurant week for the town of Vienna. We had two choices for appetizer and same for main. I had the escargot were AMAZINZG! My beef Bouguignon not so good. The most of the meat was very tough I did not eat much of it. My husband had the bouillabaisse that also was disappointing. One choice for dessert crème brûlée a bit loose. I was hoping for better. I was not aware of this restaurant until a friend suggested we meet there for dinner. I appreciate a small menu and the dinner choices were a nice mix to suit any taste. We were welcomed nicely and given choice of where to be seated as the restaurant was not busy, surprisingly so at 6:00pm. Service was average for what is considered a high end restaurant. The food was excellent but you do plan on dining here, pass on the expensive desserts. For the sum of $12-14 dollars I expect a dessert to " die for" and certainly this failed here. Dinner at Le Bistro on Friday Dec 15 was very good. We are eager to return. Except for the area near the entrance, the dining room is long and narrow. We were seated near the back, where it was quiet, which is what we were hoping for. The ambience is modern, casual, comfortable. The service was attentive. The menu is mostly classical French. Both the offerings and their excellent quality reminded me of some of the fabulous French restaurants in DC, now closed, that we used to go to on special occasions.
