This is becoming one of my favorite local places. I discovered Jeon for the first time and I keep coming back for more. I am coming back again to try more of the menu. There were dishes, brought out to other customers that looked so good. It's a small place and food is made to order. So don't expect your food out in a hurry. This place is a hidden gem and I'm so glad I finally remembered about this place. They offer authentic Korean food from bibimbap with different proteins, tokbokki, japchae just to name a few. Portions are good enough to share amongst 2 people. Tokbokki was very spicy but so good! I got it as a combo that came with fried seaweed rolls. The spicy pork bibimbap was very good too (wish I got bulgogi instead so I could taste everything besides spiciness). Chow fun was okay but wouldn't order again. I also tired the veggie pancake, I think it was a special they offered so it's not on their menu. You order at the counter and they will bring your food out to you. Ordered spicy chicken, tteokbokki with gochujang, veggie kimbap and spicy chicken bibimbap, egg over hard, side of kimchi and 6 purple corn teas. The purple Woongjin corn tea is so refreshing. The veggie kimbap is colorful and pretty and yummy too. Doesn't even need any sriracha, then again they likely don't have it either. The spicy chicken bibimbap is good. The spicy chicken is super flavorful, maybe too intensely so too. The bibimbap has a good blend and balance of veggies too. Spinach, carrots, red cabbage, radishes, zucchini, mushrooms and bean sprouts. My only complaint is that the mushrooms are the dried shiitake rehydrated and they are too rubbery to me. The spicy chicken is decent. The spicy chicken is a tad fatty. Ordered 4 purple corn tea to go and a side of kimchi too. It's weird to eat Korean food without kimchi. The side of kimchi is okay, a bit more mature and ripe than I would like, but decent flavors. The tteokbokki is spicy, nice flavors and not badly done here. The kimbap and the tteokbokki are two of the best items ordered here. The purple corn tea is highly marked up at $5 a pop here, we pay $1.99-$2.99 at H Mart back at home or even a small Korean market back at home. read more

I had this place bookmarked for a little while now...today we decided to try someplace new. We are so glad we did, it's in a a strip mall off of Lipoa in Kihei. It's a small place that had lots of to go orders going out. We sat in to dine, not a lot of tables available, but we came in around 1:45 so not too busy. Their meat jeon is SO soft, not fatty, it's so delicious. They also have bulgogi jeon and the first time I ordered this I thought it might be the same thing but ITS NOT!! The bulgogi jeon has vegetables and is almost like a Korean type of okonomiyake. It's so good. And here's a good tip - if you don't finish it all, put it in your air fryer and you'll have the best left overs!!!!! The Kim jeon is similar to the bulgogi jeon and is also an excellent choice. We also love the sesame garlic tofu! If you're lucky, they might have mandoo when you go. We have only gotten mandoo twice so far and it's huge! Full of meat and lots of yumminess, they do not skimp on anything here. Everything we have tried here has been excellent but I love their jeons the best. The portions are large and the prices are very reasonable, so if you are price conscious then this is a good stop for you. Also, if you aren't particularly hungry then a single entree could possibly suffice for two people. For our order, we got the soondobu and the bibimbap. The soondobu has about a medium spiciness level, so be aware of this before you order (in case you usually order mild). Overall, the dish was mediocre. The broth had a bit too many spices (not related to the spiciness) but perhaps needed a bit more salt. The broth wasn't as simple and smooth as you would experience at other Korean restaurants. They also weren't particularly liberal with the seafood. The bibimbap was top notch and is definitely worth a try. The arugula and spinach were great additions. Well, it's a year later and we were so excited to go back to Cafe Moon today. The owner surprisingly remembered us from last year which was sweet. Again we ordered lots of veggie options (too much on purpose) so we'd have leftovers for the week. The small restaurant was packed with people and more kept coming, plus the take out orders. Yikes....they really need to hire another person to help so the customers don't have to wait so long for their dishes. Also, there is definitely space for another table or two as only 14 people can sit with the current configuration. I have been craving good korean food ever since I moved here from California. Being full korean and raised on korean food, I know what good korean food is and this place has some good korean food. My bf and I got there at 510pm and there was only 1 person sitting in the corner of this small 15 seat restaurant. As soon as we walked in, we were promptly greeted and given a few minutes to look over the menu. I was totally excited for some korean food so we ordered a lot. We tried the korean bbq chicken, spicy squid plate, seafood jeon, and bulgogi bibimbap. We seated ourselves and within a few minutes our food started coming out. Located in the Lipoa Center, Local/Korean food has finally made it's way to Kihei! My mom had heard about this place from a few people, so she stopped by to grab a couple things. Got the kimbop & chow fun. The chow fun was on the sweeter side. It had char siu & I think ground pork in it. I thought it had great flavor, even though I am more of a savory fan. The bulgogi kimbop was also very tasty filled with a wide array of veggies. Pricing did seem a bit high, but the portion size was generous. The kimbop could've been a meal in itself. This restaurant is located in a shopping center with ample parking. The restaurant does not have a bathroom, but the bathroom is located a few doors down. It is simply decorated with a few table and chairs. After many nights of fine dining, some of which were very disappointing, Cafe Moon was a breath of fresh air. My family ordered to share, beef bulgogi bibimbap, seafood jeon ( seafood pancake) and pork soondubo jjigae (pork tofu stew). Everything was very good and perfectly seasoned. Sadly I only remembered to take a pick of the bibimbap. The owners were very nice and I highly recommend giving this place a try. Definitely a gem in the mostly empty shopping plaza it resides in. At the time of my visit (9/2021), dine in was available although there aren't many tables to sit at. We opted for take out for this reason! Items we ordered (as of 9/2021). - Bulgogi Kimbap - $13 - This was really good (especially considering all the work that goes into making it! The bulgogi was delicious and paired well with the crunchy vegetables it was wrapped with! - Spicy Pork Bibimbap - $17 - Also very tasty with a very reasonable spice level (won't leave your mouth on fire). I would recommend this dish! - Spicy Tokbokki - $15 - For spicy lovers this will be your dish. Comes in a boiling red hot sauce (seriously looks like lava) that will satiate all spicy food lovers out there. It was way beyond my spice tolerance but the missus really loved it. - Char Sui & Ground Chow Fun - $16 - This was intriguing to me but unfortunately was the most mediocre of what we ordered. My most recent craving and food addiction is their Spicy Chicken (I'd say perfection again but it's more than that), it's hands down one of the best chicken dishes on island.
