I've been here a total of four times. It's in a great location and is a cute place. I have kept coming back even though I've never been very satisfied. First, by the name and crepes on the menu, you would expect a French food dining experience. The only items on the menu that reflect that are crepes and Nutella, there are no pastries or breads. The omelets are not traditionally lovely, delicate, dreamy things but laden with heavy meats, oily veg, and dense brie....no Chevre. The portions are huge to the point of burdensome, athlete in training size. The salmon crepes came with the top of the crepe COMPLETELY covered in slices of cold-smoked salmon. Generous, but zero subtlety, far too heavy for a delicate crepe. Then there is the service...when I've visited, EACH TIME, it was surly. I won't go back. I'm done. read more

Cafe Moulin is the perfect spot to get a quick brunch with friends. Only sad thing is it's gotten more expensive over the years. I also like how their menu has some original items, especially recommend here if you are tired of the same old brunch food. Their crepes are always good, nothing too fancy but they have consistency in quality. As my friend puts it, "homemade vibe but Instagram styled brunch." My favorite savory crepe is the Alaska. The herb cream they have in the crepe is so good. Service is fast, and I often come here in between classes. read more

I love this breakfast spot! The food is yummy (I really enjoy the shakshuka when they have it on special) & the coffee is great. Service is pretty quick without feeling rushed. Great breakfast spot in Pittsburgh. We had to wait about 10 min on a busy Sunday morning for an outdoor spot. The staff was friendly and accommodating to us as we had brought our 13 mon year old kiddo with us. I had the Amsterdam French Toast. The sausage was incredible and the French Toast was good. My wife had the Bristol Crepe and that stole the show. Absolutely delicious. We had two iced lattes. My wife had the vanilla and I had just a regular. The vanilla was a little too sweet. If you love sweets, Cafe Moulin's sweet crepes are a must! They offer any flavor with vegan batter, though the Tivoli savory crepe didn't wow me as much, maybe because it lacks the toppings that mask the vegan texture. I've visited multiple times, and my favorite is the Super Belgium with its cookie spread. Cafe Moulin is a perfect brunch spot with your friends! The inside is fun and cute and it's perfectly placed around plenty of places to shop. The chai lattes was one of the better ones I've had if you enjoy your drinks sweet (I do), and everyone loved their crepes. I ordered the one with Salmon (The Alaskan?) and it was perfectly balanced and delicious, adding the avocado is worth it. The bathroom was also very cute and tidy. The place was very busy when we arrived but despite that, our host and server were both patient and very nice and overall seemed like cool people. The vibe here is great, the prices are good too especially with the quality and amount of food, I for sure recommend! read more

The lox toast is my go-to; the tomatoes are fresh and the sauce they come with is outstanding. eggs are a bit thick for my taste, but the dish is still a zinger! The bustling cafe atmosphere is complemented by a vibrant roaster mural that I think is just so fun to look at and intriguing wall decor that adds character to the space. Service can be a tad slow, likely due to the constant crowd. Not very prompt about refilling our empty carafe. While the attention from staff isn't always prompt, the overall experience is quite satisfying. read more

Cafe moulin is one of my favorite brunch spots off walnut street in Shadyside. It has a cute coffee job ambiance and I love their chai. If you don't like sweet drinks you may not like it though. For breakfast, I got the eggie veggie toast which came with a side salad. I found this toast to be kind of dry and definitely needed ketchup/hot sauce. But I generally get the crepes which are much better. If you are thinking of getting the eggie veggie toast, definitely ask for a sauce like harissa or aioli. The service also pretty quick and helpful. read more

I love crepes, and Café Moulin did not disappoint. Although I love sweet crepes, sometimes you need something savory to really satisfy your hunger. I opted for the Ottawa which is filled with eggs and brie and topped with bacon. It's the perfect breakfast crepe! I ordered my food for delivery so I didn't visit the actual café so I can't comment on the ambiance or service, but from a food perspective it's a solid choice. I'd happily dine here in the future. read more

Cafe mounlin is an amazing brunch spot. Not a lot of places have crepe for brunch but this place has a huge variety of both savory and sweet crepes. I ended up trying one of each and they did not disappoint. We got the bristol crepe with eggs and it was so yummy. The crepe is thin and had a nice texture. The combination of turkey, avocado, and egg is amazing. It was also so thick and satisfying to eat. For the sweet crepe, we opted for the super belgium. There was so so much cookie spread and dark chocolate. It was literally a dessert but again so yummy and satisfying. As a Californian I thought the prices were great and the portions were big. The restaurant itself was so cute and had good service too. Given all the unique crepes, I definitely would come back and try something new. read more

This is one of my favorite crepe places in Pittsburgh! They're now on the first floor and is using the basement for storage. It has similar decor, but the previous basement eating area definitely had more charm. Nevertheless, it is still a really cute space for a cafe. We came for brunch on a sat, and there was a bit of a wait. Get there before 11am to avoid the crowd. We had the super Belgium and Alaska crepes. The super Belgium had the Belgium cookie spread that went so well with everything else. The Alaska crepe was also really yummy combining pesto, spinach and smoked salmon. My friend and I shared both crepes and it was a perfect sweet/savory balance. It did take a little longer than normal to get our food, but the service was great. read more

The key, I've realized, is expectation. After four years of attending school in Pittsburgh and hearing so much about Cafe Moulin but never going for myself, I had real high expectations when coming during my last week of school... which probably turned out to be my downfall. When I order a crepe what I'm looking for is that crunch factor. It can be as filled as it wants to be but the crepe itself better be toasty in order to add a little texture to it. I ended up ordering the Bristol crepe and added an egg for brunch vibes. The crepe wasn't bad, but it was sorely lacking the crunch factor. The worst of it was that it looked like it was going to have the crunch factor and then... it didn't. It was a very rude Crepe Tease. I have to say, though, the crepe was filled to the brim with stuff. Definitely didn't hold back on the avocado or egg. I was super pleased with the serving size that I got for the price! read more

Second time here! Highly recommend I was there for a Saturday brunch, the line was long lol about 25min wait but that's okay, because food was great! We had the Ottawa Crepe, the one with omelette and bacon, which is very special. if you haven't got something like this before, definitely give it a try! We grabbed brunch at Cafe Moulin before my mom headed back to Chicago, and we decided to go to Cafe Moulin since we haven't been here in so long! I got the Sofia Crepe, which comes with eggs, Turkish sausage, a spicy sauce, and some fresh fruit! It is always so good and if you are a savory person, this is definitely a good option! My mom got the Lox toast, which was presented beautifully and was very filling according to her! My girlfriend got the Avocado toast which is always a good option here! I love how it comes with bacon too! The service here was wonderful as we were continuously being checked on to see if we needed more water, coffee, and anything else to enhance our dining experience! It's such a cute little place in Shadyside, and you definitely feel like part of the family when you dine here! read more

The location gets super packed on weekends and I can see why. The space is cute and service is quick. I opted for one of the Walnut St crepes, which was good but a little too heavy on the sweet toppings for my liking. The prices run a little high, but the quality of the food is good. This place is amazing. My husband and I sat at the bar since we like talking to bartenders and we got their recommendations. They recommended the Super Belgian crepe and I'm so glad they did. It was INCREDIBLE. The cookie sauce inside the crepe combined with the dark chocolate on top with banana and strawberry is like a party in my mouth. Not too sweet, just right. I got a side of bacon as well and it was perfectly crispy. I will be in a great mood all day because of this place! read more

Café Moulin's Passion In a city already stuffed with dining choices, we realized we would have to do things quite differently to set us apart from others. And that's what drives us. Creating a place where friends and family can gather to savor eyebrow-raising meals. We always made from scratch with the finest ingredients. Almost every country has its own version of the crepe, but it was in France's Brittany region where the tools and techniques were created and perfected, which elevated the crepe and waffles to an art form. Creperies and waffle shops still represent a vibrant element of European culinary heritage, for which we have been profound admiration and grown in. My husband and I were customers of this cafe in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood one time. The menu listed coffees, espressos, lattes, teas, hot cocoa, cookies, muffins, scones, sandwiches, etcetera. A refrigerator contained yogurts, juices, oat milk, and other bottled beverages. Shelves held bags of coffees and kettles. Employees kindly took my husband's order and payment and promptly made our beverages. Some tables and chairs were inside the cafe, so we sat down to enjoy our beverages. Other customers were using the dining area to read, spend time with family and friends, and work on laptops. I rate the Chai Latte has 5 stars and the holiday Sugar Plum Latte as 4.5 stars. We enjoyed their flavors. Each beverage was 12 ounces, and their total price was $11 plus tax and tip. I did notice that the cafe was very humid because of the cold weather outside and the many customers inside. The windows had much condensation. I wonder if a dehumidifer would reduce the indoor humidity.

Café Moulin was such a wonderful place in every way. It is an adorable and friendly restaurant that serves beautifully simply plated and delicious food. The staff is very friendly, the space is clean airy and colorfully decorated and there is even parking right outside. All boxes checked! We enjoyed the Nutella and banana crepe which was just right with plenty of bananas on top. The meat and potato was tasty and very satisfying. The dish was generous enough to take part of it home (and it reheated really well.) The French toast with strawberries was also not only wonderful to eat but also just beautiful to look at with its whipped cream starts and stacks of colorful berries. Something about all the dishes just makes you smile. The restaurant itself has very colorful murals which make it vibrant and cozy at the same time. To drink, the vanilla and the chocolate mocha lattes were both good. The only really picky thing we can say is that the foam art had kind of spread out into a blob by the time we received our mugs. But, everything about Café Moulin lets you know the design was a heart because they show heart in everything they do there. read more

I walked in just put of sheer curiosity to sample some crepes and do some shopping on Walnut street. It was a little crowed when I got there and people were scrambling to find a place to eat. The place was not designed properly for ease and comfort of its guests so I sat down at a section that seemed like the bar in the back. I had to place my order up front and then walk back to my seat it was really frustrating. I ordered the shadyside crepe which came with a small salad. I had way better crepes in Pittsburgh and it was not filling at all. The wait time was ridiculous and the service was not attentive. This is probably my favorite place in all of Pittsburgh. I love how they split the menu into sweet versus savory because it makes my decision so much easier! The Super Belgium is one of my favorites because I love cookie butter with strawberries and bananas. I also really like their French Toast! Growing up in New Orleans, french pastries and crepes especially have always been in my wheel house. Cafe Moulin does a great job at meeting the french qualities that I look for. Their Cafe Au Lait is to die for! This is a fantastic place for breakfast or brunch, but make sure you get there early because it is limited seating! Both sweet and savory crepes had good options and we went w/ the Ham and Swiss as well as the Marseille. On the side was the classic French toast and a cup of mocha. The mocha coffee I absolutely loved. It was as of someone melted a big brick of bittersweet cocoa with some sugar and cream. Rich and earthy flavor, exactly how I like. The crepe was also impressive, with caramel and cream, powdered sugar and apple bits. The woman taking the order was very pleasant, and the people behind the counter thanked me as I left. Do yourself a favor and stop in if you can. Five stars.

Anyways, got a seat 5 minutes after someone actually looked at that paper (yes, there were people rotating in and out within that time that people could have been sat ahead of us faster). The service is fine, again, one more employee on that shift would have made a difference. The food was pretty darn good. All four of us ordered different things, and all four of us went, oh, this is good. Would absolutely recommend coming here for breakfast.

I had always wanted to try the food here, becasue it looks so amazing online, so I we agreed The Breakfast Spot was the place! I ordered the Reeses Pancakes while she ordered the French Toast Flight. That is where the fun stopped. When she arrived, I opened my container and was immediately disappointed. Not only was there barely any chocolate on the pancakes, but there wasnt any peanut butter. I was starving so I figured I will still give them a go. After a few bites, I honestly threw them in the trash and ate the hospital food. Almost no chocolate, no peanut butter and the driest I had ever eaten. The french toast flight was, at best, mediocre. The toast wasnt dry, however the toppings were flavorless and placed in one small lump in the middle of the bread. I was so excited to try this place but I couldn't have been more disappointed. Maybe take-out orders are just carelessly made? Maybe the food would be really good and they would make it properly if I ate it in the restaurant? Honestly, I dont want to risk wasting my money and time to try. I recommend avoiding this restaurant, especially for take-out. I dont want you to be disappointed like me.
