We came to celebrate my grandfather's birthday and had the most special dinner. We were served timely, checked in on multiple occasions, and were beyond grateful for how Dion went the extra mile and really created the perfect experience. I ate here a few weeks ago. I ordered the butter nut squash raviolis. I have ordered it many times but this time it was drenched in butter and the bottom of the bowl was filled with butter. The server who never checked on my meal came by when I was done. I let her know. I had to drain out each Ravioli on the side of the dish. She said I'll let the cook know for next time. No consideration for the meal I just ate. I paid for my meal and left no tip. Food and service were disappointing. I thought to myself, I will consider it for next time. Went the first time with my friends about three weeks ago, the food was good and the service was even better! My grandson wanted to take me there a week later for dinner. This time we had a older gentleman wait on us around 4:00 on a Thursday afternoon, it was not busy at all, but trying to get him to wait on us was a real struggle all while we were there, the service was horrible! We ordered beef stroganoff, very tasty, but the homemade noodles were all stuck together and was a bit mushy, and the portions was small with very little beef in the stroganoff. My grandson and I was still hungry. Nothing came with it, no bread, no salad for $20.00, very disappointing. I wish them the best because I want to support these restaurants and I want to see them do well, but I doubt we will be back. read more

Hubby and I had breakfast and it was our first time here. The staff was friendly and gave great service. I had the Belgium waffle with bananas and whip cream. It was one big waffle! Delicious and yummy!! My husband had the French toast. They gave a minimal amount of syrup but I didn't use most of mine and gave him the rest of it. We love this place! We just moved here and are in the process of buying a home and staying in a hotel. We have to take our dogs with us everywhere. It is nearly impossible to find a place to eat with dog friendly outdoor seating AND has great food, a full bar and heaters!! We have tried the tacos, cafe trio, butternut squash ravioli, chicken marsala, chicken club sandwich and more. Everything is delicious. The staff is friendly and the view is wonderful! I wanted to cry. Saturday morning I had several friends were in town for my birthday weekend. I was showing them all the spots I frequented. Cafe Murrayhill was now off that list. Another good breakfast place down the hole. The restaurant is apparently under new management, and things have changed - and not for the good. Something has died. New cooks, new menu, and many new staff. And as part of this transition, the prices have been yanked up a few bucks, including my standby crab Benedict to $21. I decided to go back to the traditional Benedict. Coffee is still good (whew), but I ordered a Bloody Mary. What used to be a treat was reduced to what tasted like generic-brand tomato juice with half a shot of vodka and the weak attempt of a green olive and pepperoncini on a stick. Sent it back and stuck with water. Food came out. More disappointment. What used to be a glorious benedict... was lousy. There was scant sauce on both the traditional and Cafe Murrayhill versions. They just weren't the same. The potatoes came with even smaller portions. My best friend ordered the Wilbur's Skillet and it was so greasy he couldn't stomach it and his gravy was bland. Down to truck stop quality. Sad. Wait staff was spread between the inside and outside. Having been a server for 5 years, it was clear that service trips overall were very inefficient and we rarely got to talk to our waitress... Yet they had what seemed to be an excessive number of staff on duty. At least I got my one glass of water. Baffled, I went to find the manager as we prepared to pay. The old manager was always on the floor during weekend breakfast, coordinating the kitchen and wait staff, saying hi to the tables from time to time. The new one was in the back office and had been the entire time we were there. He made no concessions to our lousy experience but picked up a couple dished from our table before heading back to the office. THIS MUST BE THE NEW NORM? Before leaving, I went to the bathroom. It obviously hadn't been visited in a while (open 3 hours by this point), with one sconce light bulb burnt out and errant feces on the toilet seat. My daughter's coworkers gave Murrayhill Cafe good reviews and we decided to stop and have a bite of lunch. As we entered the restaurant we were greeted by three friendly gentleman behind the bar and were told we can sit where we would like. The scenery and large pond draws you in to a large yet comfortable patio. We found a nice shady spot overlooking the fountain and ducks. We were brought the high chair for my grandson, menus and waters right away. Since this was our first time we did not know happy hour started in 15 minutes of our arrival. We were not offered a happy hour menu nor were we informed of any special drinks or meals. The server offered a fresh made sangria which I regularly have at other establishments.. if did not know this was a sangria, I would say it was something like a pink lemonade spritzer. It's nothing at all that I ever had called a sangria. Overly sweet. I could not drink it. Three pieces of fruit that were smaller than a grape and two of those pieces were oranges with the peel. My daughter specifically asked if there was fruit and we were told yes. I guess he was not lying.... fruit there was. Good thing the glass magnifies anything in it. Since we ordered 7 minutes before happy hour we were charged full price of $8 instead of $6 for the sangria. Ordered a milk for my one-year-old grandson which cost as much as a gallon of milk. My daughter and I split the panini sandwich. Definitely not something to write home about. It was plain and uneventful and the bread was just toasted on the grill without butter or oil. Very dry sandwich. Our server never came to see if we needed anything, not once.. As he was headed back from another table he did stop by and asked how we were doing. I wanted to say "We are finished now. Thanks for asking, I needed more water 5 minutes and my daughter did want mustard for her sandwich but you were nowhere to be found in the last 10 minutes. In all, it is a beautiful setting outside, no doubt about that, but sadly the service and the food is a waste of such surroundings. read more

Played tennis on a gorgous day, and afterwards we needed to find a place to placate our appetites. Cafe Murrayhill came to mind, since it wasn't too far away. I ended up getting the tomato citrus soup, salad, and half sandwich of grilled cheese. This hit the spot! The flavor of the tomato citrus soup was so good, I wish I could have had a really big bowl! We had brunch today a little after noon. We knew it would probably be busy so we called before heading over (we live down the street) to ask about the wait. The guy on the phone said 15 minutes for a group of 3. I asked if we could put our names down since we'd be there in a minute and he said unfortunately no, "but by the time you get here it will probably only be about 5 minutes." We arrived literally 4 min. later and were told it was a 30 minute wait. Weird when we were just told otherwise, but okay. We put on name on the list and sat at the bar to have drinks while we waited. No one took our drink order for literally 15 minutes. Eventually someone came to take the order of the people who sat down next to us (about 10 minutes after we sat down) and I finally asked if someone could please take our drink order. It's pretty unprofessional to ignore someone for 15 minutes and require them to ASK YOU to take their order. A table opened up and was sitting empty for quite awhile, so I checked-in with the host to make sure we were still on the list for a table. He didn't seem to know what was going on but eventually grabbed us and sat us at the table that had been open all that time. Not a great sign.. We were brought menus and placed our orders. 40 minutes later our food came (yikes). The food and drinks were all pretty good, no complaints there. Our server and busser were both super sweet and friendly but it took SO long to get anything. No one paid us any mind, even people behind the bar not doing much at all but talking to other people or folding napkins. We had to ask for silverware after our food came... After eating and having our plates cleared away, we sat for 20 minutes waiting for the check. It never came. Again, I had to go find someone to ask for our check. If the restaurant guest has to ask for someone to take their order, remind the host to sit them at a table, ask for water refills, ask for silverware and napkins, and ask for their check, something is wrong. It's not like we were rushing them - we were there for an hour and 50 minutes total for a simple brunch for three. We are generally pretty patient and we still tipped 20% because we know the food industry is tough. But based on our abysmal service I would definitely not come back here or recommend it to anyone else. read more
