DOESN"T EVEN DESERVE ONE STAR. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Staff ignored costumers. Attitude problem among the waiters. We waited over 30 minutes to order and it wasn't even crowded, let alone it took another 30 minutes for the food to come out. You had to constantly raise your hand and ask to be served. Awful experience. Just got back from the cafe Muscat. It was a disappointment. There was a long piece of hair in my pesto salad that I had ordered. It was disgusting and it killed mine and my husbands appetite. The restaurant was super super cold and a lot of people were freezing and complaining. They would turn down the AC for few minutes and then put it back on blasting just because the waiters were hot themselves. The hostess was very nasty initially. The service wasn't that great either. Great place to eat, I have been here several times. Their pasta dishes and ravioli are solid but not amazing, their Sushi and appetizers are good. Lots of Middle Eastern (more towards the Turkish) items. Where they excel is by the fish. Most place cook white-meat fish dry and don't know how to sear Tuna, but here they always cook it perfect. Whomever cooks their fish knows what they are doing. Great fish. Also they have a good French Onion soup. The Pannini's and sandwiches are more for the lunch menu and are a little pricey but the prices for the fish and pasta are reasonable by queens standards. they have had prompt service all five times I have been there and good service. They also have a great desert menu and have a desert only option if you just want a late night snack date. just as a warning, on a given night half the place is people on dates and the other half have kids so if you don't like kids around or the more romantic lighting then you'll have an issue. But they are accommodating to families with kids and have kid friendly options Some of the people on yelp complain about about the coffee, just for them to know the coffee is served Israeli-Turkish style and it is different than the standard American. Also some people complained that its not really like a cafe, well it is set up like a Turkish cafe that you would find in the middle-east. The owners are middle-eastern and they made it an Italian-Middle east hybrid place and it is good and not too expensive on most items by Queens standards. The restaurant is catering towards the middle class munti-ethnic neighborhood that surrounds the area (about 1/4 jewish, 1/4 asian, 1/3 white, and the rest is a black-latino mix,) so it is geared towards a certain base Final Verdict: Great place for family or a date. I have been there several times and just don't get it? The place is normally very busy however I don't see why? Although the good overall is very good, but the prices are quite high & the service overall quite poor. Delivery is also mixed, with what appears to be smaller portions and somewhat wilted salad. I have come here often and I really enjoy their Greek Morning breakfast special, I order it every time. However, this visit I ordered Mozzarella Sticks and a French Onion Soup. The soup was ok, a little bland. The really problem was the Mozzarella Sticks, don't put something on your menu if your just going to open a box and microwave some off brand store bought product. I highly recommend this restaurant if but for their service alone. I was stranded at LaGuardia Airport one night after getting in very late due to all sorts of delays. I called all over NY looking for a kosher place that was open so I could just get some food. Cafe Muscat was the only place that not only helped me out and got me something good to eat, but they delivered it to me as well even though they were almost ready to close. It is not often that you receive true top notch customer service and thankfully this experience was when it really counted. It was just icing on the cake that the food was really good too. I really cannot recommend this place much. I went there tonight at 9:30pm (a thursday night) and it wasn't incredibly packed- quite a few tables. May have been a busy night since when we walked in, the 6 or 7 open tables were a mess. They immediately cleaned one table, but walked away leaving the spray bottle on our chair. No biggie- I just moved it over. We sat down reviewing the menu, waiting for someone to come over and ask if we were ready. TWENTY minutes, nobody came over, nobody brought water or bread- nothing. Now, if the waiter was busy I would understand, but he was standing in the corner just watching those who had food eat- and seemingly avoiding eye contact with me when I was turning to get his attention. I would have walked out if not for my wife pleading not to. Literally twenty minutes with no attention, no bread, no water, and they weren't busy! On top of that, the other waiter was ignoring everyone and cleaning all the other tables the whole time. This place was noisy to begin with, but his cleaning was louder. He was literally throwing chairs around (which the tables and chairs are all chipped and scratched and I see why now). OK, now for the actual meal... I ordered Sushi, Onion Soup and a Salad which were all good and I had no issues. I originally ordered Red Snapper, but they didn't have any which was disappointing- but what can you do- got the salad and sushi instead. Nice portions and came out quickly. My wife though had a different experience. She ordered a Salad that came with a specific cheese, which they said they didn't have. No Red Snapper, no cheese, what do they have?? So he offered her two other cheese options instead. While she was thinking about it, she mentioned to please bring the salad with Pesto, to which he rudely asked "but which cheese?" She was taken aback and flustered responded "I don't know, whichever." He then said "Feta or Goat" abruptly and she said "OK, Feta and please remember the pesto". She then ordered sushi as well requesting the seaweed on the outside. He repeated seaweed on the outside and then walked away. Her food came- no pesto. I was going to call him over but he was nowhere to be found, and she asked me not to ask- let's just eat. When they brought my sushi, she mentioned to me that she forgot to ask for spicy mayo. I asked for some and they brought quickly. We waited and waited for her sushi and it never came. She said she was full so I shouldn't inquire about it, so I didn't. Never once did anyone come over to see if everything was alright or if we wanted something else. Finally, we finished the meal with all these problems and I wanted to pay the bill. I kept turning around to get the waiter's attention, but just as in the beginning, he seemed to be avoiding making eye contact with anyone and just standing there not working. Finally the person by the register noticed and told the busboy to tell the waiter to come over to table 6. Took about 5 minutes of his doing nothing until he came over and I asked for the check. He said "ok" and walked away. It then took FIFTEEN minutes for him to come back with the check. What the heck?!?!? I checked it, and it indeed noted pesto, which she never got. It didn't note or charge for the Sushi that was never ordered. It recommended tip amounts, which I gave far less. Honestly, I think the waiter deserved no tip, since self service would have been easier, faster, and more accurate- but again my wife thought I shouldn't do that and she's the boss. Horrible experience. The worst service I have ever had at any restaurant, tables are warn and scratched up, both our choices on the menu were not available, and orders were not completed even as ordered. Food was good and portion sizes very large for what we ordered. I would not go back to this restaurant by choice. Plenty of other kosher milchig/dairy options out there where service would be better. read more
