Both of our cocktails tasted extremely watered down, and our waitress couldn't be bothered with for majority of the visit.. I had the fish tacos to start and they were pretty decent, not gonna lie. I loved the fact that I could build my own quesadilla and you know what, it was actually a good portion. I paid $11 to build my own quesadilla and $7 for a house margarita. That margarita really had me buzzed. IDK what kind of tequila they put in there. The complimentary salsa was to die for! It was so tangy and bold. I really love the concept and thought behind this little Mexican spot on the corner! The patio is going to be hard to beat when it cools off and the ambiance is super nice. I've been a couple times, the service has been good enough and the food/drinks are good. I wouldn't go out and say that this is the best Mexican cuisine I've ever had (because that would be reckless and untrue, I'm from Arizona), but I would consider this to be good middle of the road Mexican cuisine. I went on a Sunday & they were *only* serving brunch which bummed me out, because I'd eaten breakfast early & it was my lunchtime... so don't expect full menu til after 1pm. My server was great. There was live music starting up as we were finishing up our brunch. The portions are pretty sizable, as well as delicious, and the queso is just as good as I remember it. Bathrooms are clean. The wait time was non-existent even though it was Mother's Day; there's plenty of space in the building now that the patio has seen such expansion. No individual tacos, just 3 taco entrees for like $12, no build your own option. Everything was a bit pricey. I ended up ordering chicken fajitas. They came out steaming hot and sizzling. Overall they were pretty good. The peppers and onions were cooked perfectly. I love that it came with everything, sour cream and guac plus lettuce, tomatoes , tortillas and shredded cheese. This is my 2nd YELP review in the 10+ years that I've had the app, and it ain't gonna be a review that's praising anyone/anything about this place. So my wife and I get seated in an empty inside because the bar & patio were full. After 15 mins a waiter comes and takes our order. 15 mins later we finally get our drinks and complimentary chips and salsa. 10 mins later our appetizer comes. The shrimp must have been the only thing that were worth eating to her because after a few spoonfuls of the dish, she ate the shrimp and left the grits. On my burrito, I told them to keep the sour cream & beans. When the burrito came to the table, it looked like a frozen burrito that you buy from Walmart, FOR 13 BUCKS. The chipotle chicken was lathered in their chipotle sauce, rice undercooked, and the chicken breast was unflavored. I forced myself to eat the chicken breast because I haven't eaten anything all day and was starving. It was a chore to get it down. The bacon wrapped shrimp had no flavor at all. As far as drinks, the walk me down wasn't the best but wasn't the worst. The top shelf margarita tasted like pre made sour mix and overly sweetened flavor mixes. I had the Mexican pizza. I thought it was a little pricey at $12. It was good and there is a lot of it, but $10 would seem like a fair price. My future fiance had the grilled shrimp taco. My family and I (4 adults, 1 kid) ate at Cafe Ole on Mother's Day we arrived around 12:40 pm. When we walked in the restaurant was seemingly uncrowded and we were seated fast so that was great. The waitress came to the table, she was nice, she did not introduce herself so we didn't know her name. She brought drinks, chips, salsa, and water to the table fairly quickly as well. The chips were very greasy and bland. We were trying to ask questions about the menu and the mimosa bong the waitress was very inattentive and it seemed as though she was rushing. We placed the order for drinks, which was a mimosa bong and shots of grey goose. We saw the bartender making the drinks and then they sat on the bar for a while. She then brought over the shots and not the tower she kept saying the tower would be out in a minute and she walked past the bar at least twice after that. One of the guest from our party went up to the bartender to ask if that was our mimosa bong, the bartender verified that it was and brought it over to our table himself, no waitress in sight. When we poured our drinks we noticed the mimosa bong was leaking so we told another staff member about this, he started that we shouldn't have to "deal with that on Mother's Day", and he grabbed another one for us. Then our waitress came back and asked if we got our mimosa bong, we asked if we could go ahead and place our food order. The food was okay we ordered the pancakes, shrimp and grits and an omelet. We received the everything else like 5 minutes before the omelet, which the waitress had to go grab from the back. The waitress did not comes back anytime after that to check on the table. We had to ask other staff members to get water and napkins and utensils. The bathrooms were disgusting and dirty no soap in the bathroom and pee on the floors. When we payed for our bill, which was over $100, the man who replaced the mimosa bong stated "Make sure you tip my waitress good". We payed the bill and left what we felt was an appropriate tip for the service provided. While we were walking out the restaurant the same man who made a statement about the tip, proceeded to walk up to us outside of the restaurant as we were getting in our car and asked about the tip we left we asked if there was a problem and told him about the subpar service. He was visibly upset and stood outside the restaurant as if he was trying to intimidate us. The encounter was very uncomfortable for us and we felt like we were being harassed. I would suggest that Cafe Ole work on their service, cleanliness, and professionalism in the near future. We are from out of town and really wanted to have a nice brunch for mother's day without the long wait. I am sad that we chose cafe ole as it put a damper on our day. We will not return and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. I do hope this review helps and that the staff at Cafe Ole will improve. read more

My favorite thing about a Mexican restaurant is the chips and salsa and theirs fall short. The chips are not light they are actually kind of heavy. The tortilla wraps were not soft. Very hard to eat, they were tough. The shrimp were good, I like the seasoning on them, the fajita green pepper, onion mix, something was not right, it didn't seem fresh. Memphis has like a million places to eat and we heard about this place from some locals. It's a short menu and tries to be hip and chic. It's a clean restaurant and the food is fresh, I was tempted by the lobster chili relleno but I passed because we were about to drive back to Baton Rouge. Went here for brunch which was surprisingly awesome. I wasn't sure what brunch would be like at a Mexican restaurant but it did not disappoint. I started with a traditional Bloody Mary while my friend tried the mimosa. We had the chicken and waffles, French toast and the bacon wrapped shrimp. The star of the show was hands down the French toast which is a thinly sliced cinnamon roll and then prepared in a egg batter for the French toast part. The orange syrup paired perfectly. I've lived in Memphis 5 years but stopped by here for the first time on a Thursday evening a few weeks ago. It was great, from the service to the food, drinks and music! My group of three started with a house margarita, they were delicious! Chips and salsa came out with the drinks and this was good as well! For food, we tried the fish tacos and the build your own quesadilla and both were fabulous! While we were there we met the new general manager, and he was truly passionate about restaurants! Live music. Amazing outdoor patio with palm trees. Came from Chicago for work and the scene was laid back, chill, didn't have any food but the bartender could pour good drinks and they had sports on TVs. Maybe the food isn't amazing, but I didn't know or care. Charvey Mac live on guitar on Thursdays. It was a great Thursday night of some amazing music and tremendous vocals by Charvey Mac, who seems to be a hidden gem of Memphis but he plays well over 200 hundred gigs per year in this music town. I was at you Cooper Young location on today and was very unsatisfied. I typically visit 1 or 2 times per month either with friends or coworkers. We have loved the food, drinks and service. Unfortunately, today was not the case. We ordered three drinks.....Hurricane Elvis, Amerito Sour and a Strawberry Margarita. Upon me taking two - three sips of the Hurricane I immediately noticed that the drink was very weak. My friend also noticed the same about her Amerito Sour. As our food came, we advised the server of our issue and she retrieved a Manager ( not sure of his name but he was a young black man with dreads). He asked the nature of our problem and advised us he could not remove the drinks from our ticket but he could get us something else in lieu of what we had. This was reasonable and we understood. Approximately, five minutes later another Manager ( I believe Vernon ) came to our table. He advised that he would not remove the drinks or replace them because "he knew for a fact" that they put lots of alcohol in all of the drinks. We further advised that another Manager has resolved the issue already but he insisted that he was "The" Manager. I requested the name or contact information of a regional manger or a person with greater authority than him. He stated that it was the owner and it didn't matter what his name was because nothing was going to change. I repeated myself and asked him if he was denying a customer to make a legitimate complaint. At this time, he indicated the name was Kendall. I'm not the type of customer to complain about service usually; however, the dismissive manner in which he spoke to us was unprofessional and contrary to how we have ever been treated at this restaurant. As you will see from the attached photos, we did not complete our drinks because of the dissatisfaction. In no way was my party attempting defraud the establishment but rather attempt to be satisfied with date. This simply leaves me and my party completely appalled by what happened. I would greatly appreciate a response from the owner. I in no way want to shed a negative light on what is normally a great place but I feel it necessary that other patrons know how some patrons are treated. As, I was sitting in the restaurant and typing out this complaint, Vernon approached the table and asked "did someone not pay"? We looked puzzled because one friend had paid for his check and left....my other friend had also paid for her check.......I was the only one that had not paid but my credit card was on the table sitting on top of my check. I'd advised the waitress I would pay my check when I was done sending an email. My friend asked was there some reason that he thought we hadn't paid. He stated "I'm just asking you a question". I asked him was it customary that he asked all of his patrons if they paid their ticket while they were still sitting at the table with food and drinks in front of them. Mind you.....my friend and I have simply been sitting here talking amongst ourselves with voices no louder than an average conversation. While speaking with Vernon and the server, we remained cordial and voices not above conversation level. Vernon then says to us loudly......"get out.....just get out....and don't ever come back here again"' In my 45 yrs of living.....I've never been asked to leave a restaurant or any place of business. However, to be told to get out and never return because a customer had a complaint.....did not engage in an argument, paid our checks and actually was civilized is absurd! Service was good, and our server did his thing, can't remember the name. Got a mimosa and it was as good as any other. For my meal I had the Ole Chicken and Waffles and the 3 of the bacon wrapped shrimp. Everything was good ! The shrimp were AMAZING!! Unfortunately I was too full to finish everything but I loved it. Went on Monday night for 1/2 priced margaritas and trivia. Received some of the worst service I have ever had. It took 25 minutes to get 3 margaritas even though the bar did not seem to be slammed. We only saw our waitress who was supposedly also a manager twice in two hours. When we did see her she had a very abrasive attitude. By the time we were ready to go, it took 40 minutes just to get our checks and another 25 to get them ran. As we received our cards/cash back, one of my friends discovered that her card had been ran and charged 3 times, then in trying to fix it, the waitress ran it twice more. There was very little remorse, no offers to comp anything, nothing. I understand having bad nights but this one was just awful.
