Oh. My. Gosh!!!! This place is hands down now my favorite breakfast spot! I'm In town visiting and my sister in law brought me here since I've been hearing about these cinnamon rolls for a while now. Everything we had was so delicious: the Cowboy skillet, Olympic Combo, Adult Grilled Cheese w/ Vegan chili, and pancakes for the niece. The lemon & blueberry cake was out of this world! As in any major metropolitan area, one has a multitude of breakfast choices in Chicago and its environs. An awful lot of the eateries are owned, or were started by Greeks, so it's not unusual to see a co-mingling of Greek and American cuisines, regardless of the time of day. To wit: "scrambled eggs with gyro meat." I've been to my fare share. In this part of the 'burbs, I guess my favorite so far is Andy's, also located in Crystal Lake. I like Round the Clock, as well. I hadn't tried the Olympic, and locals talk about it, so off I went, and it was Sunday morning, and it was either suffer in silence a lengthy wait for a table or booth, or be seated immediately at the counter, which I don't mind, there are always interesting things to observe. Chicken Fried Steak was on special, and I've reviewed the dish in a lot of different locations, so I plunged in here, adding two over easy, rye toast, and crispy hash browns. I don't know why I bother getting potatoes, I never eat them. But since they are included in most breakfast plates, they might as well put them in front of me for presentation sake. At the Olympic, an ample amount of sausage gravy (quite peppery) covered the "steak," which tasted like any mass production CFS anywhere. About 2 weeks ago I had The Signature Smash Burger & it was absolutely delicious. I didn't get it with the sauce. It was so good that I went back yesterday and had it again! This time I added grilled mushrooms. It was so good! My co-worker ordered the same thing & loved it too! Fries were delicious too. I've had the cinnamon roll before and it was wonderful. Have lived in crystal lake for almost two years and I can't believe today was our first time here ! Holy cow this was the BEST cinnamon roll I've ever had!! Do not drive to the city to get what some refer to as "the best cinnamon roll" at another breakfast establishment. This one takes the cake! Perfectly warm, gooey ,and delicious! I saw them featured on Chicago's Best TV. I made the hour pilgrimage to give them a try. Their sausage gravy is very tasty, but seems expensive for a half order with hash browns and two eggs for $11. They're currently offering curbside pickup, delivery and outdoor seating. The inside will remain closed during COVID-19 phase 4, cuz they just don't have the room inside for social distancing. So we called in an order for work. They were friendly and super helpful in getting us a good deal on catering a lunch at last minute. When I arrived to pick it up a few minutes early they weren't quite ready and so I headed back out to my car to wait. A few minutes later they brought everything out. When I arrived back at work out order was missing two items. I called and they immediately fixed the problem. They made the extra sandwich and soup that were missing and brought a couple slices of pie for the inconvenience. I have no problems with a business making a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes. But they went above and beyond to fix the mistake. Someone from our office would have run back over to get the food but they insisted on bringing it to us. Definitely somewhere I plan to order from again. And once they are open for regular service again I plan to take some friends and dine in. read more

Came here on a Saturday for lunch and it was busy and had to wait a few minutes until the owner asked if we wanted to sit at the bar. So we said sure. We got drinks and menus right away. My hubs got the Cafe Olympic patty melt and I went with the chicken fajita patty melt both also came with fries and a cup a of soup (cream of chicken and rice). The soup was delicious. Creamy with bits of veggies and rice. It was really good. The fajita melt was served on what I'm pretty sure was a homemade pita bread. The pita then was layered with peppers, onions, hunks of chicken and cheddar cheese. It was so much food but great food. I had to take home leftovers. The crinkle fries were crispy and hot which in my opinions makes perfect crinkle fries (no mushy cold fries allowed). The diner was small and may need some updates but everyone was very friendly and quick to serve. I cannot wait to go back and try it for breakfast. Both breakfast and lunch menus had quite a lot to choose from so they will have something for everyone for sure even the health nuts!! I gave them a third chance and disappointed again. Their coffee is awful, they use Conscious Cup and it's so bitter, no amount of creamer and sugar can help it. In the past the food was good. The problem is the service....there was no wait when we got there, two of us were sat again, at the half booth table. The waitress took our order, 30 minutes later I asked about our food, she said it's coming up soon. Ten minutes later she said about 5 minutes. 10 minutes after that, we decided to leave as we were there for an hour at that point with no meal in sight. I told her I left $6 on the table for the crappy coffee and we won't be back again. We decided to check this place out when another restaurant we were planning on eating at was closed. We were sat quickly and ordered promptly but the food took over 45 minutes to come out. Half of the food was cold when it arrived and the server was unapologetic. When it came time to pay, the server brought the wrong change and shorted us money. read more

After hearing about the good food, wife and I decided to try it. Walked in and sat down at counter instead of waiting for a table. We ordered two breakfasts plates( eggs) After waiting 35minutes told our waitress we wanted to leave. She checked our order and can see her handing our ticket to the cook. Came back to us and said it was in the pan just another 7 minutes. That was BS, we saw her grab the ticket and give it to the cook. We told her kindly we waited long enough and do we owe you for the coffee. She did give us a bill for 3.75 and asked me if I wanted change for my 5. When's for a quick breakfast on a Sunday morning not they crowded but was seated at the bar at the counter. After 40 minutes of waiting we start waitress where our food was and she pulled down three or four tickets that were forgotten. Came back and said oh the cooks said it will be 5 to 7 minutes at that point after only ordering how much we said we're gonna leave she came back and said oh it's in the pan with I didn't know we were still leaving and she had to call to give us a bill for our coffee after 40 minutes of waiting for our food they did not even complementary us a cup of coffee don't ever ever ever ever ever go there if you have someplace else to be wine, great service and/or food I can't comment on the food because I never got it so there you go.. Only getting one star because I have to give them something. Won't let me review without it, but it actually gets 000 stars. read more

This might quickly become one of my new favorite places. We went here because the restaurant across the street was closed. From the outside it doesn't look like much but I was pleasantly surprised. It's an old school cafe feel with a new school menu. We started off with the cinnamon roll. It was amazing. Cooked perfect and the frosting was amazing. My wife got the bacon me crazy. This is a must try. It came with chicken and rice soup which was very good. Great flavor and you could tell it was fresh. The meal itself was fantastic. Great flavors. An adult grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and an egg on top. Who could ask for more. I got the chicken and waffles and it also was fantastic. They had two different butters it came with. Both were awesome. One was a spicy chipotle and the other was a sweet heat honey. The flavors were amazing. The service was also fantastic.
