It was a nice, sunny day when I was there, but there's shade over most of the tables. I can see this being a great place for students to study, creatives to work or meet up, a date night, or even a family/friend get together. We missed the brunch portion of the event (I think they were serving Filipino silogs), but stayed long enough to order something off of their regular standing menu. The whipped white beans with veggies and their potato chips was sooooo good! The perfect afternoon snack. And the hot & salty cookie was delightful! We decided to do it on Saturday because Sunday would be too crazy. It was a good choice and my sister made reservations. Chardonnay is a favorite of my mother's. The Vineyard Room is a small dining area adjacent to The View Bar & Grill (another restaurant at the golf course). I'll jump right to it. Things I liked: beautiful area and on sunny days the view is spectacular. There is ample parking. The staff is very courteous and friendly. The food itself is quite good. I had Reuben sandwich with french fries and it was deli-wonderful. Things to know: this place hosts a lot of wedding receptions--and I think weddings--and this can affect what you order. For example, I thought I could order breakfast food slightly after 12:00 pm, but was informed that I could not. I believe the kitchen was switching over to lunch. So, I ordered the fried chicken by was later told that they no longer made that. My guess is that they will eventually update their menu. Our server, Skylar, was apologetic and since my sister was also a No-Go on the fried chicken, offered to check if the kitchen would make breakfast items. Sadly, the answer was still "no" and I told Skylar my second option was the Reuben. My sister had fish tacos. I know that Skylar was only passing along what she was told, so I don't blame her. She also comped me a beer and our table an order of nachos. This was a gracious offer and we accepted it. I'm not an order-off-the-menu guy and I try always to be patient and understanding. I've been in Skylar's shoes before and have had my share of difficult situations. In this situation it is helpful to know that it is a bar & grill and while they have a decent amount of options, it is a little different than a full-service restaurant. Given the fact that it's a destination for wedding parties, it is good to know that your menu options might be limited. Meaning, you might be told that they do not have your first choice. I've always found that being a little understanding goes a long way in your enjoyment of the meal. I tip my cap to Skylar for remaining courteous and friendly even though she kept having to come back and tell us the kitchen couldn't make this or that. This is still a good place to eat. I'd recommend asking what they are out of at the beginning.

It's a sweeter wine and a good end to a tasting, for sure. Glad I explored that one. It far exceeded my expectations. The vibe is good. This felt like a made up rule to protect non-mother customers, and Benicia is known for that. Horrible. What made it worse was how it was handled. The waitress(blonde, short hair mid-aged lady) came off rude and said, "no under 21, sorry--unless it's a dog haha," and then told me I could go to the taphouse on the corner. It felt dismissive and unprofessional. I even tried calling afterward to speak with a manager, but no one answered. Overall, it left a really bad impression, and I don't feel comfortable coming back after this.

We waited about 15-17 minutes without being greeted, offered water, or acknowledged, even though it wasn't very crowded. I finally spoke with Giovanni, not realizing he was one of the owners. He immediately apologized and personally took care of us for the rest of the evening. He was professional, respectful, friendly, and treated us like two queens. He even offered us complimentary dessert. The food was tasty. I had the ribeye, baked potato, vegetables, and salad, while my fiancée had the fettuccine Alfredo. My steak was flavorful, although a little more well-done than the medium I requested. Giovanni saved the experience. The newer staff definitely need more training in attentiveness and hospitality, but we'll be back for the food, beautiful waterfront atmosphere and Giovanni's excellent service.
