Carna Asada plate is crazy delicious. Must have if you love steak. It's sort of a build it yourself burritos. You get three big pieces of skirt steak, guac, tortillas (3), lettuce, beans, and rice. We came in and sat down and started eating chips and salsa. (I have to say I do love their salsa). And as we picked up a chip there was a giant moth that had been baked right into the chips. The manager did nothing. He came over and just said "oh I'm sorry". We wont come back here again. Staff sat and played on their phones and then served the food. They didn't even wash their hands. A little on the pricey side, the staff was nice, but couldn't get the order right. One of our party didn't get her food until everyone was done eating. Second time here. I would say a solid five stars for the Bear Lake area (four if in Salt Lake). Much better than the other restaurants in the area! Yelp reviewers can be brutal. This is surprisingly good for a small town like Garden City and should be celebrated. La Beau's and all of the other five burger shops with "famous raspberry shakes" are no where near as good. I am local and have been to the Bear Lake Sabor many times, I have had family members that have previously worked there and I have ALWAYS loved it. This last experience there was AWFUL! We went over Forth of July weekend and expected a long wait so we went early about 3:45 to try to beat the evening rush we showed up and there was one other table the rest of the place was empty. We were seated and given chips and salsa and then waited for atleast 10 minutes until anyone even acknowledged us. While this whole time atleast 6 workers were sitting on there butts playing on there phones some were folding napkins. We finally had to ask someone to please bring us some water and menus. Management switched this year and they definitely need to bring back the old manager. Food wasn't even that great and the service was absolutely horrible. read more

In the off-season (after Labor Day) there aren't many restaurants to choose from in this tourist town. My husband & I tried the "Bear Trapper" first and were highly disappointed with their food and service. Café Sabor is clearly the choice of locals, as it filled quickly - even on a week night. The restaurant had cheerful décor, the servers were friendly, the food was excellent, and everyone there seemed to be having a great time. The prices - while on the high side - were very reasonable for a resort community. We enjoyed their fresh chips & salsa and the generous portions of our entrees. The meats were tender and seasoned well. The rice and beans had a lot of flavor & texture. Out hotel gave us a coupon for a free dessert, so we shared a gigantic fried ice cream. It's to die for! We went away completely satisfied with our Café Sabor experience. read more

This was our go to place in Bear Lake for the passed 5-6 years. This season the place is staffed with a bunch of teenagers that stand around and take selfies and the food has gone down hill too. We have been here multiple times thinking it would get better. NOT YET.... We need the owners to make a surprise visit. We can come in the middle of a non holiday week and the service is slow and food is not even just ok. We have spent a lot of money on meals here!! Went to Café Sabore in Garden City for a quiet meal Saturday May 4. Ordered table guacamole--was horrible--LARGE chunks of avocado, way to big for chips, no spices no flavor. Cafe Sabor is a nice option for a Mexican food meal in Bear Lake. In the heart of Garden City (is there more to the town than the heart?), Cafe Sabor is across the street from the bevy of Shake shacks. For us, the food was good, not special, nor unique, but really what can you expect in the middle of fast food heaven? To be honest, we thought the Mexican offerings at La Beaus Too were better, and they had shakes. No complaints though. For a large, filling Mexican meal, Sabor fits the bill. Just temper your expectations. I do have to admit, though, the homemade chips and two types of salsa were well worth the trip, and they provided as much of it as we good eat. read more

When we are at bear lake , this is a go to place . Generally , great service and good food . I like that they give two options for salsa . Chips aren't the best I've ever had , but they are better than store bagged . I like their shredded beef a lot , but feel like the shredded pork is a cafe rio knock off . As a vegetarian/vegan it can be challenging to find something to eat when traveling or vacationing. Kudos to Cafe Sabor, who not only has veggie options on the menu, but they are delicious! I ordered the vegetarian burrito. The veggies were cooked perfectly, still a little crunch! The flavor was great and the vegan in me rejoiced in the fact that there was no cheese or sour cream! My hubby and I stopped here to eat today. The food wasn't very good and left us both feeling less than satisfied. We are both feeling less than great even 9 hours after we ate there and felt sick after leaving. Do not waste your time stopping here if you are on vacation or just passing through. I have have been here in the past and has been pretty good food and decent service. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance and is in a great location. Unfortunately, this particular night was not a good experience here. We were told 20-30 minute wait that turned into 90 minutes. Once seated, our order was taken pretty quickly, though they were all out of kids menus which I thought was odd. After 45 minutes, we still hadn't received our food and we weren't getting any updates other than repeatedly being told that food should be ready in a few minutes. We walked. Having worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years, I noticed a lot of mistakes being made - wait staff didn't seem very experienced or professional and they need more training, though, I know some nights are just off. I didn't notice a manager around to coordinate things. In the time we were waiting, I can't tell you the number of times I observed various staff putting hands through hair or on face, that is bothersome. I'll probably just skip Mexican food in the Bear Lake area from now on. read more
