The margherita pizza comes out of the wood-fired oven blistered and glorious--like it's personally trying to make up for decades of regional culinary disappointment. The wedge salad's blue cheese has a faint smoky thing going on, dotted with tiny chives, and tasted like somebody in that kitchen has actually left the county before. And don't get me started on the wings: homemade buffalo sauce, still crispy, and not a hint of gas-station-regret afterward. Add giant open windows that turn the whole dining room into an al fresca reprieve, competent waitstaff, and you've got yourself an actual bona fide restaurant in a place that has subsisted on fry-baskets since one of the Roosevelt administrations. So, to the one-star crowd: I don't know what you were expecting. This isn't Salt Lake City. It's Bear Lake. And for Bear Lake, this is nothing short of miracle work. read more

Came here for Sunday brunch and it was just okay. The food was really mid. Every time I asked someone in my family how they liked their food, they responded with "meh". I ordered the avocado toast, and it was alright. Pretty blend though. Several of us wanted the biscuits and gravy, but they were out of it. The servers were working very hard though. You could tell they were understaffed and as someone who works in the industry, I knew the stress they were likely under. The setting was really cool. Was excited to come back here, it had been several years and the looked had changed... it was all enclosed now so you are not exposed to the elements as before. We did not make reservations but were seated in the corner where we had a glimpse of the lake and could feel the rustic adventure of camping complete with covered wagons and a glowing campfire. We had a pilsner and a spicy cowboy (margarita)... that was a great start. For an appetizer we had the crispy Brussels spouts which was yummy. For the entree we had the wagyu hamburger and the Salsiccia pizza. The waiter was nice, ambiance is cool, but the food was 2 stars at best. The pizza was very cheesy and the dough/crust was bland. The wedge salad was so cold my teeth hurt. And very small. The smash burger was nothing to get excited about. The bun was very cheap quality. Definitely overpriced. The crispy hot honey chicken had no hot honey, the chicken was tender but under flavored so you had to ask for more sauce to make the flavor eatable. It was supposed to have a slaw but instead just salad clippings. The sweet potato fries were the best, but probably because I like them over cooked. The Brussels were fried, not seasoned, Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, and a watered down juice on the side to ... dip them in? Over all, had high hopes. Very pricey. First visit was good. The chicken was cooked nicely, it didn't come with any sides. My partner got the pan seared chicken and the portions were incredibly small. Went a second time with more people because we recommended it to them. The steak is NOT worth the price. It took an hour for them to even take our order. The steak was too chewy. It wasn't even seasoned, at least not enough for me to tell. The broccoli was undercooked. Not to mention there was a massive cockroach looking beetle on the doorway to the bathroom. The space is very cool and rustic, and you're looking out into nature which is a plus. I just wish the food was better quality. I take good pics so pics make the food look better than it was. Also, the food took forever to come out! They are slow here. Came with a party of 6. For our appetizers we ordered blue cheese waffle fries, just okay, and the Bavarian pretzel, which was great. For the mains; Pan seared trout, just okay, sides are small Pan seared chicken, this dish was actually delicious, great flavor and broth. Braised pork bolognese- not very good, meat was fatty Classic burger was probably the best item ordered, it's a really great burger, the two patties were big and great flavor, cooked perfectly. Get this if you come. Market fish was salmon, and it was good, but nothing to remember. The desserts were not good. Seemed cheaply made. Like cheesecake was store bought, and the cookie skillet tasted like premade cookie dough from store. Go get a shake somewhere else for dessert. read more

I ate at this place 7-22. I had the chicken Parmesan. I have been going here since it opened. Every year it gets a little worse. My meal was not edible. I took two bites. I could not cut the chicken it was so tough. The taste was old and stale. When I complained to the staff and showed them my plate of uneaten food, the did nothing. No offer of another entree, or desert, just the full bill with an extra 12% mandatory service fee. Don't go here. read more

I'm super surprised by the prior reviews - we ate here three times during our two night stay and each meal was amazing! The food was outstanding and the the view is beautiful. Kurobuto Pork Chops- must try! We were staying at Conestoga Ranch for the night and went here because it was close. We also had the ribeye and the chicken. Everyone was very happy with their choices and the atmosphere and view was amazing! The service was a tad slow but understandable as a party of 16 was served right before us. We had an amazing dinner here . The ambiance was nice with the fire pit outside and open doors to enjoy the summer breeze. Our server was wonderful and very attentive. The food was fantastic. Our first clue was when we tried to make reservations for 6 pm, and they said they could not accommodate us until 730. When we arrived we were literally the only table occupied in the restaurant. A lot of the people at our table ordered steaks, which comes with 2 sides. All of the sides were wrong when they came out, and every steak was cooked well done despite nothing being ordered over medium. The staff seemed to have no clue about how to complete orders and argued about what was ordered. One of the dishes was on special and claimed it came with mushrooms, but instead came out with brussel sprouts. Atmosphere was nice, and the manager came by to check on us when we were done and offered a discount due to the service, but then my bill came with no discount. Tbh there aren't many places in Garden City for great dining, so there's that. But Campfire is a very cute tent-ish restaurant with large windows onlooking great scenery and sunsets! It's a gravel parking lot so parking can be a bit hectic if it's busy. We came on a summer Fri evening and did not have a wait time for 4. Servers were friendly. Food was just okay, but. We used to go to Cooper's but that's gone downhill over time so this is now the restaurant we go to if we are going out for dinner. AWe shared the a sprouts side as our app. We ordered a caprese pizza, pork chop, caesar salad, and the special (shrimp pasta??). I wasn't blown away by anything - it was just okay. Isn't bad to the point of never eating here again, but just the place we go to for dinner while in town. read more

I'm sad that I need to lower my rating after a recent dining experience, less than a year from my last visit which I gave 5 stars. My first concern was that I tried to update the party size on our reservation. I left multiple voice messages (no one to speak to directly) to let them know that our party was smaller than expected. They reported they didn't get my message when we arrived. Our family also had previewed the menu online and had decided what we would all order ahead of time. Unfortunately when we arrived, the menu was completely different from the one listed online. This started off the meal with disappointment that we could not order what we intended to. The server told us that they're struggling to update the menu online, which seems unusual. Our food took longer to arrive at the table than we expected and the food was ok. Much smaller portion sizes than what we received on our previous visit 10 months ago. The prices don't seem to correlate with the quality of food. It's a gorgeous location but I think there are a lot of improvements that can be made to enhance the service and overall satisfaction of customers. We hope it can improve so we can hopefully enjoy it more if we decide to try again. read more

Granted we were a big party (10), but we were literally the only people in the restaurant. We tried to get a reservation the day before at 6, and they told us the first available was 7:30. We called back and they gave us a 6:00 reservation. Then empty restaurant. Most of the orders were wrong. Either wrong main entree or the sides mixed up between entrees. I ordered a medium rare ribeye, I got a well done New York strip (photo attached). Two people ordered the special, which said it came with asparagus and mushrooms. It came with brussel sprouts and no mushrooms. The server argued with my son about what he ordered after bringing him completely the wrong entree with the wrong two sides. It's a really pretty location, which is the only nice thing I can say. The only people who weren't disappointed with their food ordered the smash burger and a cheese pizza. Every steak was overcooked to well done, the fish that was ordered was dry and under seasoned. The vegetables for the sides were basically unseasoned. It's expensive for the area ($48 for a ribeye), and the food was worse than I'd expect at an Applebees. The owner asked how our food was. We told her, she offered to discount. When I got the bill it was $8 off of a $200 check. That barely covered the cost difference between the steak I ordered vs the steak I got. The other two people on our split bill got no discount. The waitress stood by the table staring at us while we filled out the check after she ran our cards, which was very awkward. Would not recommend. read more

Definitely would not recommend. My wife and I both got the wagyu filet. Very disappointing. The filet was more like a low end sirloin, not at all wagyu. Sides were more like a truck stop restaurant. We had just pulled into town and did a quick search of restaurants open for dinner on a Sunday. We wanted a nice sit down restaurant with good food and this was right on target! The restaurant was hidden up the hill, to the left of the general store and reservation check-in building. We had the chicken artichoke stew, waygu burger and sirloin steak. All were excellent. When we arrived, they didn't know we were coming. When a waitress showed up take our orders, we had to ask for menus. Then we had to ask for more silverware and another glass. Service was very slow. When the food finally came, some of it was missing. Two people in our party ordered steaks and both steaks were overcooked, under-seasoned, and chewy. The restaurant comp'ed one steak. The sides were not great either. But the people who ordered the chicken said it was really good. Also, there was a photographer walking through the restaurant, taking a lot of photos. We asked him not to shoot our family for two reasons: We had not given our permission and we had children with us. He said he hadn't taken any photos of us, but that seemed impossible. *Sunday Brunch* Got seated right away. Keep in mind the place only had 3 tables occupied. BUT then we sat for 30 minutes until someone came to get our order. Once we ordered they said it would be 20 minutes to get our food BUT again we waited 40 minutes for our food. They were out of half of our orders so we have to get something else on the menu. Once they started bringing out food out it was all cold and hard. The chef was delivering our food not the waitress. They messed up 3 of our orders and forgot 2 of our sides. We told them separate checks to begin with but they brought us one checks. We went to her to get them separate but even the check had the wrong food on it. We were the ones that had to tell her what we all got. She took 20 minutes to get us our separate checks. WE WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK. Horrible service. Crappy food. A year or so ago the food here was phenomenal, and really surpassed my expectations. Dishes were built and cooked with care, and I had some wonderful shrimp and grits, ribs, etc. This year I went back and was sorry dissapointed- an overpriced and under seasoned slab of trout with sad veggies, and for breakfast, "avocado toast" served on burnt burger buns from dinner and sliced avocado and tomato. First let me say, the restaurant is amazing with the open, outdoor style and yet still cozy and romantic layout! The server was very polite and kind and so thoughtful! Now for the reason I'm giving less stars: the meatloaf. It was DRY. My table even thought it was bread, not wagyu meatloaf. They can see the texture from my plate without even tasting or touching it. I had like 3-4 bites hoping it would get better, but my hope dwindled very quickly. I ate some delectable fries as our appetizer and my friend shared her pizza with me. I let our waiter know and he stated he would speak to the chef. The chef advised that no one else complained and it would not be taken off my bill. I didn't ask for it to be taken off, but I could have been offered to order something else at least, even fries! Waste of $28, I left it on the table. Highly disappointed in the way this was handled by the chef. Just because no one complained BEFORE me, doesn't mean that my complaint is invalid. I see other reviews state the same thing so that already proves I'm not the only one complaining. Also, I don't think giving feedback on food that I'm paying for is considered complaining. Ate at this place for labor day weekend and it was so good and was excited for it to open back up to go back during summer time. My boyfriend and I then go for Memorial Day Weekend and we got sat right away. Our server took our order and about 5 mins later i see the bbq wings and calamari i order come and my server shooed away the guy carrying my food and he returned back to the kitchen. Then after about 10 minutes since ordering, our pizza and my wings and calamari came out. It was delicious, but as soon as we got home my stomach began to hurt. I was then throwing up for the next 18+ hours along with my boyfriend. We took some food to go and then looking back we realized that our wings were pink in the middle and then our pizza wasn't even cooked all the way and came to the conclusion that it was food poisoning from their food. definitely would not go back and do not recommend this place at all. read more

The campfire salad was so fresh and crispy with sliced carrots, tomatoes, and chef threw in some mushrooms and sweet peppers after he heard how much we were craving veggies. Hit the spot. We went with chef's recommendation and had the New York strip steak. Cooked to perfection with herb butter and the best garlic potatoes you'll taste. Everyone at the restaurant was overwhelmingly kind. The restaurant is beautiful, big windows, large beams, fire pit outside. Our server both nights was a young Turkish girl who could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. This is a first rate establishment.
