This is a super cute French bakery and coffee shop tucked away in an unassuming strip mall. I had breakfast here both mornings of my vacation because it was so good. Friendly service, delicious food, and perfectly balanced espresso drinks. There is a lovely view of the bay. The quiche is extremely fluffy. There are many options for drinks, pastries, quiche and sandwiches. The staff and service are great! We tried a croissant with hazelnut $3.95 that was amazing! It will be the best $3.95 you ever spent! Our salted caramel lattes were delicious and very reasonably priced! We had the bacon, egg and cheese croissant ($9.95). It is chopped bacon, cheese and egg mixed together, cooked and pressed in a butter croissant with a slice of melon on the side. A delightful find in our new neighborhood! We had just spent a few hours out boating, and hadn't had breakfast yet. SO glad we tried this French cafe! I had a chocolate hazelnut croissant which was flaky, buttery as true croissants should be. They use French flour, which is a key to great pastries. (Our fave bakery in Chelsea/ West Village NYC where we used to live was famous for winning awards in France, and he told us one of his secrets was using French flour. GMO's are forbidden in foods in the EU, & my patients who live in Europe can drink milk and eat wheat with no digestive problems, but cannot have either in the U.S. So sad that we don't have that same level of respect for the unadulterated. natural production of foods here in America. ) We shared an order of their quiche (bacon, cheese, onion) and it was enough for both my husband and me. And it was delicious. More like a frittata with a flaky pastry crust. Yummmm! The coffee in their cappuccino was from Kanawa Coffee Toasters, and very good, not too dry, not too milky: perfect! As for ambiance, the ocean breezes, sitting outside in the shade of the arcade was so pleasant and relaxing, while the staff was friendly, made us feel at home, and was attentive. Food was delicious. We were going to take it back to the hotel and eat our breakfast but, the ambiance is so nice and inviting. You have a beautiful view of the water! It's nicely decorated inside and they have outdoor seating if you choose to sit outside. The line is really long but, I get it. It's a great place to have coffee, tea or beverage and breakfast! We came on a very busy morning. The line wrapped around the restaurant. The baked goods looked delicious so I ordered an almond croissant, the Oh La La Quiche and black coffee. My husband ordered the egg, sausage and cheese croissant. The almond croissant was delicious but that was really the only thing. My quiche seemed like it was a day or two old and a bit dry and my coffee was barely warm. My husband's breakfast croissant didn't look appealing. The service was not friendly. I didn't see anyone smile once and the woman at the register was only friendly and pleasant to a few customers she knew. I asked a server if I get a refill on my coffee and he pointed to the end of the counter and said I could get it there but when I walked up to the end of the counter, the woman at the register said bluntly that if I want a refill I needed to go at the end of the line. At this point I was completely turned off. I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 star because my almond croissant was good. read more

While in town for the holidays, my mom and I stopped by to pick up a box of an assortment of baked goods to enjoy on Christmas morning. We came on Christmas Eve fairly early in the morning and there was a steady flow of customers. I'm glad we got there early because my mom said that this place is very popular and can often run out of baked goods. We ordered 12 pastries in all - almond croissants, guava and cheese pastries, cherry pastries, lemon pastries, dark chocolate croissants, hazelnut pastries, and a few others that I am now forgetting. On Christmas morning, we all sliced them up and got to sample a little bit of everything. Each and every one of the items we ordered was absolutely delicious. This was an easy 5 star for me to give. Food: There are so many delicious options to choose from. Sweet, savory, they also have great coffee. The almond croissant is one of my favorites. The toasted croissants are also a must try. I loved the one with fig jam, blue cheese, arugula, and walnuts. Service: Everyone is always so friendly. The service is very fast and attentive. Your food is made and delivered quickly. Ambiance: I love their new location. Beautiful and right on the water. The old location was also very nice, but this new location provides much more seating and a bigger kitchen. The initial decor is great, it looks like they are still doing some renovating. Stopped by this gem four years ago on another trip and remembered it was good enough to try on our return vacation. And we were absolutely grateful that this small French bakery is still incredibly tasty and the service is friendly and efficient. I love the small tables and bright decor inside and we were lucky to snag a table outside. Started with an almond croissant that tasted like a sugar cookie with icing inside - YUM! We got a few coffee drinks that were prepared quickly and exactly what we wanted. I got the pear, Brie, honey croissant, kid got a Nutella and banana, other kid and hubby did the sausage cheese croissant. All were delicious and my picky kid asked for another one - she loved it so much. Great place for brunch, gets busy so be patient - it's worth it. Welp it's been ages since I've been here and I found myself waltzing back in for some nostalgia. Let's get started shall we ? I'll post the picture of the baguette tomorrow but it was excellent as expected of cafe soleil. Nice and crusty with a soft interior , overall a perfect baguette . Next we have the guava cheese, now this one was unique. Appearance wise I didn't think it would have much filling but it was surprisingly balanced with the cream cheese and guava filling. Very good Now I liked the chocolate croissant but I felt it was less flakier than the first time I had it. I will say I came in around their closing time so maybe it was sitting around for quite a bit. Like the guava cheese pastry I was surprised by the amount of filling and the chocolate itself wasn't overly sweet in fact it was of superior quality to most chocolate croissants I've had. I'm definitely going to swing back around here when I'm in st Pete you should too :D read more

Decided to venture out to this place for breakfast. Service was quick and the ladies up front were super nice! The coffee was also very tasty. Not pictured is the lemon fan, Chocolate Croissant, and hazelnut croissant, that all went home with me and it was all very tasty! My fave was the lemon fan. This bakery is phenomenal. The croissants are easily in the top I've ever had. I enjoyed the breakfast sandwich on a croissant with egg and bacon. It was outstanding. If you get there early enough, you might be able to grab the table in front of the water. The views go great with the outstanding coffee. This place is amazing so expect to wait in line to order your breakfast treats. This is probably the best little pastry shop on the beach. We stopped here for lunch one day during our beach staycation. There were so many choices it was hard to decide what do to get... also the product was flying off the shelves! However, I did get an iced latte and a savory toasted croissant (brie, walnuts, arugula and fig jam.) My husband got the bacon egg and cheddar toast croissant. Wow! Mine was so divine! after that... I wanted a sweet treat. Chocolate croissant! So decadent. I believe the owner was running the register and was very nice and polite to everyone. There were several other staff members constantly bringing out new baked treats and creating the lattes. I have had this place bookmarked FOR YEARS and finally got to come here today! My husband and I came around 10:30 and there was a long line at the entrance. We waited in line and everything seemed to move very quickly. The place was very busy for a summer weekday. They also have indoor and outdoor seating. I overheard one of staff members tell a customer that once the pastry dished you are labeled don't have pastries there, they are out of them. We wanted to try a cronut, but it was one of the ones missing during our visit. I tried the berry tart and my husband got a bacon, egg, and cheese toasted on a croissant. For drinks, we both got iced mochas. The drinks and my husband's sandwich came out fairly quickly as we sat outside. The berry tart was like eating a slice of pie in the morning. The crust was slightly crispy, but still soft. The mochas was very tasty as well. My husband enjoyed his sandwich. We ate breakfast there. I ordered a chocolate milk and a ham and Swiss croissant. They gave me milk with ice(no chocolate) and the wrong sandwich. I was so baffled that she handed me milk with ice that I just took it and sat down. The sandwich took so long and we were hungry so I ended up just eating it as well. The lady at the counter was sweet and helpful. She was telling me about what makes their quiche so special and the history of the owner of how she came over from France. Well she was right about the quiche because it was filled with seasonal vegetables and the crust was light and flaky. The salad with the dressing also paired well for a complete meal. Ok, I have found my sweet fix! I have been searching for a good bakery for 3+ years since I have been in SP. I now do not need to look any further! I am a bit of a croissant connoisseur as I have been to France and know when I have had a good one. Apparently the owners are from Paris and the pastries are homemade and so fresh. I always opt for the independently owned, small businesses. So I chose Cafe Soleil over Starbucks. I ordered a yummy latte and was impressed with their milk and flavor options. I planned to do a little work while sitting there at a two seater. Sipping on my latte, I was there for awhile and planning to leave soon. And although they were busy, I was being cautious of the available tables they had. I would never be rude and take up space for the sake of doing work. Anyways, with four large tables still available, the seeming owner/manager came over and told me I couldn't hold a table with just a drink. Thus implying that I exceeded my welcome.
