We ate breakfast there. I ordered a chocolate milk and a ham and Swiss croissant. They gave me milk with ice(no chocolate) and the wrong sandwich. I was so baffled that she handed me milk with ice that I just took it and sat down. The sandwich took so long and we were hungry so I ended up just eating it as well. Ok, I have found my sweet fix! I have been searching for a good bakery for 3+ years since I have been in SP. I now do not need to look any further! I am a bit of a croissant connoisseur as I have been to France and know when I have had a good one. Apparently the owners are from Paris and the pastries are homemade and so fresh. The chocolate hazelnut plait is AMAZING. The almond croissant was a close second. I will be back to make my way down the pastry line. I always opt for the independently owned, small businesses. So I chose Cafe Soleil over Starbucks. I ordered a yummy latte and was impressed with their milk and flavor options. I planned to do a little work while sitting there at a two seater. Sipping on my latte, I was there for awhile and planning to leave soon. And although they were busy, I was being cautious of the available tables they had. I would never be rude and take up space for the sake of doing work. Anyways, with four large tables still available, the seeming owner/manager came over and told me I couldn't hold a table with just a drink. Thus implying that I exceeded my welcome. Although I don't eat gluten, I was excited to return here with my husband as he enjoys fresh pastries. But don't worry I won't be returning. I'll opt for Starbucks next time. read more

Read the previous review about the person trying to work with open tables around and not being allowed to with just a drink order. So I intentionally didn't bring my laptop and I ordered a drink and something to eat and did work on my phone. I was allowed to linger and it allowed me to make some observations. First, as any human being would, the lady in charge was a bit more terse when it was busy--and at times it was BUSY. She even said she didn't even consider it busy compared to the weekend. So if there's a line, even if there's open tables, yeah, I could see how she might be concerned about someone setting up shop to work with just a drink bc the tables would fill up fast with that line. That said, once things calmed down later in the morning, she was much more relaxed and friendly and she checked on me a few times to see if I needed water or anything, so I felt welcome, despite my lingering (it helped that tables remained open the whole time, I'm sure). I had an iced latte which was fine, but I think next time I may try a flavored latte and the almond croissant I had was good (but not fluffy/flaky like a traditional croissant--just a heads up. I loved the atmosphere and the music they played--I certainly can't blame the previous reviewer for wanting to linger! I'd say probably just try to do it after the lunch rush on a weekday so it's a win win for everyone. :D read more

Oh man this place is just amazing. There is nothing on the menu that you won't enjoy, seriously. Every single thing is made so fresh and so delicious!!! They have TONS of hand made and homemade pastries that are just absolutely delicious! It was SO HARD to pick just a few. They also had amazing coffee and a million options. They even had a few sugar free options. That almost never happens when I go somewhere! So so good!! The also had a lady working there with a thick Jersey accent. This lady was the bomb!!!! We stopped into Cafe Soleil on the morning of our last day at St. Pete Beach. I had a ham & cheese croissant and a caramel iced latte. I could tell right away that the croissant was going to be very good, and it was. In terms of ambience, it's a bit loud inside when the place is full, but other than that, service was very good. What a sweet place with delicious options. I had a latte with my pressed fig and blue cheese croissant with a side salad. My sandwich was sweet with fig preserves and a mild blue cheese, so not overpowering blue flavor. My salad was nice green leaf lettuce with thin sliced tomatoes and cucumbers with a nice slightly sweet vinegret. I also had a cronut which is a cross of a croissant and a donut which equals deliciously soft inside and flaky outside and it was flipped into sugar on both sides. They have a small but nice menus with salads of sorts and several types is sandwiches plus lovely bakery items. The locals are definitely regulars and the staff are Uber friendly not to mention the owner walks around and checks on her patrons. The restaurant has a clean French motive with indoor and outdoor seating which invites you to linger. Definitely will revisit again and again. read more

If I could give this place six stars I would! One of the best cafes I've ever been to. Croissants are crispy and flavorful--the Chocolate Hazelnut was absolutely a favorite. The Lemon Fan was also tasty and refreshing. The prosciutto, mozzarella, sun dried tomato, and pesto Toasted Croissant Sandwiches were savory, crispy, and left us pleasantly full (served with a side of refreshing lemon). I have loved Cafe Soleil since moving to St. Pete Beach. They went through several rough things like being thrown out of their original location, finding a new great location and putting hearts and souls into making it great. Very soon after that success two back to back hurricanes brought new challenges. They never ever gave up and stayed so strong and positive during all this. So uplifting to see and follow them through it all. The food is great, the owner and staff are amazing and it's just such a feel good place to hang out for breakfast or lunch. I'm sorry I missed the first wine event because I was not in town and hope they have more so I can attend. Bottom line - a must go is you're visiting. A great find on Yelp and the owner and staff are very dog friendly. We thought it was going to busy after reading some of the reviews but going about noon may have helped. It's perfectly located on gulf Blvd in a shopping center just in case you need to grab something else from Publix or cvs so there is plenty of parking.
