If the app had negative stars, thats what i would give this place. The onion pakodas are pre made and kept in their container. That even if you ignore, the taste was so bad, like they added chemicals. All their savories like pakodos, samosas, veg puff - all tasted and smelled as they were cooked with meat. They had a strange taste. Like who can get a basic samosa to go wrong! Their pani puri is so tasteless. We 2 families planned dinner on father's day and ordered multiple items masala dosa, manchurian, noodles, chole/bhatoore etc. and nothing was upto mark except masala dosa which was little better. bhatoore was very oily and was not cooked properly. it was uncooked inside. manchurian was very red with too much food color and no taste at all. noodles was waste. prices are so high with self service. there are better restaurants around with better quality price and table service. (FYI owners or Store manager) My review is about the people taking orders at the counter. This takes into account my experience of the past 2+ years ordering food at this store, so this is not specific to COVID times. People in your staff have consistently come across as 'the business people on the planet' (every time I am at your store I am both amused as well as concerned). Even people at restaurants and food retail in India (and the state of Punjab) are much more courteous. They understand doing more business is as important as treating customers with delight. As a frequent customer, I am never delighted at Cafe Tazza. Even though the food itself is good, it doesn't outshine the issues I am describing below. - Talking to a customer in a rushed voice even for something as simple as taking an order - Things such as - rudely passing the food onto the customer without apologies - Not paying attention and not looking at the customer in the eye while taking the order, rather asking to repeat what they want - Not respectfully addressing customers, using words such as buddy, amigo (this is funny!) Unless the behavior is imprimatur, this tells me either the store hasn't hired enough people to scale with the business or the people here haven't been exposed to customer servicing skills. I am not pointing out anyone specific, but the folks who've been the longest at the counter taking orders in the last couple years probably would have contributed the most to the motivation behind this review! You folks are lucky to get customer feedback through Yelp and other platforms, since we take time out of our day to do this. What you do with these reviews is up to you, but things have a way of squaring up eventually in life. With an optimistic note, I hope to see some changes soon! read more

We have been regular customers so far at Cafe Tazza for past few years. We usually get their sweets and cakes, which are pretty good. My experience with Cafe tazza was good, until today. Today we ordered 2 aloo puffs. When we received our order and had a bite, it was all bland! We had their aloo puff before and its usually pretty good. But this time, no salt in it. So I went in again and told the lady on the counter that it didn't have any salt. She discussed something with other lady and then went in the kitchen area. After couple of minutes she came back with a half eaten aloo puff in her hand and said "I tasted it, it has enought salt, the reason we keep it this way is to keep it mild" I was surprised by her answer. We told that we had their aloo puff before, its never this way. Second, salt is for taste, not for spice. So it being mild doesn't have anything to do with salt. I feel rather than it being about money, it's about integrity. If there's some issue with food and repeating customers complain about it, then there's no reason to lie about it just trying to justify something is fine. Anyway, we had to throw away the bland aloo puffs and decided never to have it again read more

Honestly this place is only worth it for their dai sev puri and masala dosas. Otherwise the rest of the items on their menu are complete shit frankly. The cook barely took any time to make sure my food today was even edible or tasty. I've been coming here with my family for years to get dosas, and it was my #1 place to go to, but now not so much. The person who took our order was not much friendly nor welcoming. It seems like everyones fed up at that restaurant. Nor did the cook take their time to make sure to make the food proportionate enough to even take a bite out of. Look at how big the pieces of gobi are in this manchurian dish. Almost 4 years back when COVID started forced all of us to work from home; I had no source of Indian food and no one to cook for me since I worked for dot.com company in the Bay Area and lived alone. I started trying to order take out from local restaurants but It wasn't feasible for weekdays with work since I didn't have that my time between meetings. I had remembered Cafe Tazaa having been eaten in their restaurant and take out some curries before. A few of my friends that had gone to my home in India had compared my Mom's cooked food very similar in taste to Cafe Tazaa's Dals, Curries, Biryanis and Desserts. So now it's been close to 4 years and I order 10-12 meals for 5-6 days of the week and I refrigerate their food and eat during the week and I just microwave them to be ready to eat. I have never gotten sick, nor gained weight, nor the food got bad, the oil and meat, eggs they used is of highest quality and on the contrary I am able to gain my fitness goals of muscle building and leaning out with only their food for 4 years now. Last time the chicken chettinad tasted authentic. This time Chicken chettinad tasted like diluted onion curry, tons of Oily onions and no chettinad curry taste at all. In fact no Curry taste at all.
