This place was packed on a Friday night. The man handling drinks and host duties was on it. We had…read morea bit of a wait to get seated at the bar, but understandable on a packed night. Husband and I split the 3 meat plate (although we were tempted by the special-beef ribs on mashed potatoes). We had brisket (good and my favorite), pork ribs (fall off the bone good and tasty), pork belly (hubby said it was good since it isn't my thing). For our sides we had collard greens (we fought over those they were so good), bacon Mac (creamy and smokey), and corn bread (so glad we each had our own serving of that or there would have been bloodshed). That cornbread was the best I have had at a restaurant in ages. Staff were on it. They were personable and friendly. Kitchen staff--wow. It was awesome to watch the magic and teamwork happening in the very small wizard's workshop. Thank you for the great night and the leftovers.

So, I really don't know why people come here. Maybe we got unlucky but let's run it from the start…read more Upon entering, the place does look very cool. It almost feels like you're in a mineshaft or an antique store, which I thought was awesome. We are immediately greeted with a very friendly smile and told there were seats at the bar (the restaurant was packed, another good sign). A few minutes go by and we're still standing at the check-in, and another couple comes in. They are greeted in the same way, offered seats at the bar, and are thusly ushered to their seats... while we were still standing there. Okay, few more minutes go by and we call out the table that was just cleaned, and we get seated. The menu looks phenomenal, and we ended up getting the meat combo to try everything. This is where it gets even worse. The barbecue itself took a while to get to our table, which would be fine if it wasn't cold. Yes, you heard correctly, the barbecue was all cold. Baked beans had to have been Bush's. Potato salad and Mac was good, same with the cornbread. But the main things we paid $60 for were cold. The ribs were beyond burnt, and the brisket was tough. Oh, and the single sausage we got was slathered in mustard and barbecue sauce, come to think of it everything on the plate was slathered in barbecue sauce. Usually not a good sign lol. I really wish I could say nicer things about this place but I unfortunately cannot recommend it to anyone. But hey, they're packed so maybe that's just the quality of the food around Kalispell. After striking out at many establishments around Bigfork, this place is a real winner! Our only suggestion is to tweak the potato salad recipe ;) We appreciate a well-run establishment. Kudos to the owners.

Then, we had some more time to kill, so we decided to grab some lunch before heading to the airport. We had done very well listening to our local friends so far this trip, so we asked them for one more recommendation. They recommended this place. And thank goodness they did. Ambiance was super cool. A lowkey location in a strip mall, the inside struck me like a nice, hippy couple decorated it. It was pretty chill vibes, as the kids say. Each member of the hippy couple brought their ethnic background to the table here, one Italian and one Portuguese. Pretty neat combination. They were very nice folks. Very good customer service. There are only two of them, though, so if there's a line, prepare to be in for a wait. I didn't mind, since our goal was to kill time anyway. Also, a side note, the inside of the store was very hot the day we came, so we opted to order and eat outside. There are a couple of tables and chairs out there, thankfully. As for the food, I forget exactly what we ordered, but I'm like 80% sure that I ordered the Chourico & Peppers (Spicy, smoked Portuguese sausage, slow cooked with ripe tomatoes, fresh bell peppers and yellow onions). Excellent sandwich. A nice, hearty, crispy, soft baguette stuffed with the meat concoction. And the meat was very flavorful. Very smoky sausage, which might have been just too heavy on its own, but it had some help from the peppers and onions. Really good stuff. I also got to try an Italian sandwich. I'm not sure which one at all. It was a special written on the board, so I can't find it on their regular menu, but it was also good. Fresh, simple ingredients. Same, delicious bread. Solid. But I would choose the Portuguese options every time, though, since that's a rarer cuisine in this country. Overall, I'm so glad we stopped here. I love supporting small business, I love trying new things, and I love the quaint little town of Bigfork, MT.

Food was good too! I got a Stumptown Omelette, my husband got a burrito. Hash browns with it were very plain. We missed out on the pies but I hear they're great. Service 3/5: The older woman serving us was not in a great mood which was evident because she gave a younger guy working an attitude about the location of something in the cafe right in front of us. She put in my husband's order completely wrong (egg Benedict instead of a burrito) , and originally our food came out together but we had to wait for his to be cooked which we don't care but having a toddler there always makes every second feel much longer, but it was SO fast to come out. Also they gave us an orange juice instead of the apple juice we requested. We lived with it, my toddler doesnt have meltdowns over that yet. Ambiance: simple cafe. Don't think it's handicap accessible. There are stairs to get down when you walk in the door. We left our stroller in the car. Overall we heard such amazing great things but it was relatively average for our experience! Maybe just the Sunday rainy morning we went. But for a $50-60 breakfast for 2.5 people we will not return during our trip.
