I might get it again, but probably not at that price. This remains one of my favorite bakeries in town, and we'll be back periodically. Update: We tried another cinnamon roll. The hospital staff enjoyed the doughnuts (based on their smiles and caring for my dad!) The people at the shop is also very nice and friendly! I go to Cafe Veneto a couple of times a month. It's a small place, and generally pretty calm; this is surprising because the quality of the food, pastries, and drinks are phenomenal. Honestly, with a more public location, I believe that this place would take off: it's genuinely that good. For now, though, I am happy with how quiet it is because that gives me a bit more privacy. If I were a more selfish person, I wouldn't write this review, but the owner is such a kind person (she's always there) and the business is so far superior to anything else in the area that I can't help but hope this place gets flooded by customers. So give this place a shot, but please don't be too crazy. I like to sit in the corner with my coffee in relative peace. read more

Was trying to decide between IHOP and Dennys with my girlfriend and saw this place on Google Maps. So we decided to try something new and oh man, are we pleasantly surprised. Starting with my caramel frappe, I would have to say that that is the best frappe I have ever had in my entire life. It was so thick, rich, and creamy and the caramel flavor just sends your tastebuds into a savor heaven. I also got a steak and cheese omelet, hands down one of the best omelets I've had. The fact that this is a small business, and one that actually cares about making good, quality food made from scratch, and from the heart.. This has place has just earned its place among my favourites. It may seem small but its nice and cozy. The food was great, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Perfect for a cold and or rainy day. Today was my first time going; I ordered a hot chocolate and a Italian custard pastry. Both of which were tasty, not overpriced, and pleasing to the eye. The woman there was very sweet and helpful, occasionally checking in on us from time to time. The prices are reasonable and the food is decent, the place is clean and the workers friendly. This European cafe is the best kept secret in Jacksonville. You are not going to regret stopping by. Mina Huskic bakes up some of the tastiest and most beautiful desserts I have ever tried. I stopped by Cafe Veneto today for the first time with my mom, and I cannot talk enough about how tasty and fresh our meal was. My mom had the spinach and mushroom omelet. I had the lasagna omelet on a bagel - truly delicious! Choosing a dessert was really tough. In the end, my mom went for the French pastries and I had the German cheesecake. Super tasty. Absolutely Terrible Experience - Stay Away I had one of the worst dining experiences at Café Veneto in Jacksonville, FL. The food was awful--both sandwiches I ordered were not only poorly made but also came with the wrong ingredients. When I called to address the issue, the staff was extremely rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. The service overall was just as bad as the food--disorganized, slow, and completely lacking professionalism. I ended up disputing the charges because the experience was unacceptable. This was my first time comming to this cafe, and I have to say, ive never had better food for the price in my life. You can tell that the owner goes the extra step when making evey creation... i tried the chicken pesto panini, and a couple espresso machiato' s. This place has ruined me... In the BEST way. As soon as you walk through the door you feel like you're in Europe (multi-colored chairs. Mosaic tiled tables. Acordian music in the background. Warm from no AC). The omelets are FANTASTIC. I don't know what she puts in them but they're well seasoned. I can never go back to a simple S&P seasoned omelet. Please do yourself a favor. My family and I came to Jacksonville for spring break and decided to come here early on in the week. We ordered the ice coffee (2 bucks each, which is a great price in my eyes) and were instantly hooked. The owner is the sweetest person who worked very hard to craft our drinks. Needless to say, after that first visit, we spent almost every morning of our spring break at Cafe Veneto. The egg and cheese muffin was also a hit amongst us; so so good! Woah! What an inconspicuous location for such a great cafe! The lamb gyro was the special of the day and it was phenomenal. Most ingredients were made in house and the miss behind the counter cooked everything to order. Definitely recommend this spot for coffee in the morning or for a mid day meal. The drinks were pretty cheap compared to what most places offer these days. And the food was pastries were on the pricier side. I guess it evens out in the end. But also the portions are pretty big, so I wasn't too mad about it.

Everyone was far too busy enjoying their food to talk! I don't usually choose ham, but I love pepper jelly, so I couldn't resist the ham and pepper jelly, grilled cheese, bacony delight. It was AMAZING. I had it on multigrain bread which was a great choice. This is a sandwich I'm going to crave, and I can't wait to be back in the area to check out some other items to go with this killer sandwich.

We have tried to find a not too sweet cake for my mom's birthday and finally found it. They have many good cakes like strawberry cheese cake, Nutella chese cake, salted caramel chocolate,etc. The cake decor is simple, modern and chic. Candles small chocolate plaque of greetings, cake knife and matches come with the cake. For 6-8 inch cake, it is about $45-55. Their pastries are also delicious and always make my coworker smile when I brought them to office. Price ranges from $4-6. My favorites are mini garlic butter croissants, tiramisu tarts, and korean BBQ pastries. I also like their sandwiches, very fresh and can be refrigerated for a few days. The restaurant is very clean, spacious and plenty of seating. The workers are very nice and helpful. There is plenty of parking in front of the bakery.

My other favorite was the Cheese Tart ($4 for a mini tart). It was pie crust with an excellent New York cheesecake filling. My wife probably put it in first place, though she rated everything here really high (straight 8s, and an 8 is uncommon coming from her). We love New York-style cheesecake, and this tasted about as good as any we've tried in town (Publix's NY-style in the bakery). We need to try their cheesecake here sometime. My least favorite was the Chausson aux Pommes (apple turnover; $4.29). Initially, I thought it was excellent. The problem was there was too much dry pastry for the apple filling inside. Have a higher ratio of filling to pastry, and maybe it would be excellent. I still liked it, but I probably wouldn't get it again, unlike the other two. I didn't find the setting relaxing, unfortunately. Maybe it was the noise level, crowd, or music. None were obviously bad, but I wasn't relaxed. So, in the final analysis, I'm more likely to go back to my favorite pastry shop, Cruffin & Tea, than here. Still, I'll be back to this place, trying more things. I'm more likely to take out from here, though. Some recommended things here, for next time: croissant donuts, strawberry yogurt cake, mochi donuts, strawberry and cream croissant (or lemon cream one), pain au chocolate or chocolate croissants, very berry pastries (or fruit bites), almond croissant or pastry, ham and cheese croissant or pastry, maybe pastry frank.
