Stopped for late lunch at Mocha Rita's haven't been here in a while and was so excited to have the same awesome experience as years ago! Was greeted warmly by Lana owner and chef! She was happy to make suggestions and tweak the menu to suit our tastes! I started with a cup of chicken soup with vegetables , rice and homemade croutons. The little cup was packed with vegetables( carrots, potatoes, broccoli)and chicken and just the right amount of rice. The broth was delicious and the ingredients all fresh. The Boars head buffalo chicken with pepper jack panini was also delicious. I opted for a side of ranch for dipping since I'm not big on spicy! My husband's Roast beef with horseradish, onion , tomato and a mayo based sauce panini was also delicious. Fun place to grab a delicious homemade meal and reasonably priced. Mocha Rita's is located in a plaza more occupied with service oriented businesses than retail establishments and other restaurants and I would assume a big part of their customer base comes from those places. The outside gave me the impression that it would be a typical deli located in an industrial complex, but when I walked inside, I was definitely impressed with the comfortable interior. The staff here were friendly, outgoing, personable and warm. They made me feel welcome coming into this establishment. I looked at their menu on Yelp, I think you should be advised that the prices on there are for half sandwiches and when you place your order, they charge you for a full sandwich. So what appeared on the surface as a good deal or at least a fair deal, pushed their sandwiches to a bit into the overpriced realm. I had a corned beef rueben and while good, I cannot call it in good conscience a rueben. It had the ingredients of a Ruben, but it wasn't finished on a flattop, which would have made it a pretty good sandwich. Instead it was warmed up corned beef, warmed up cheese (not melted) and sauerkraut on two pieces of bread. The price for four sandwiches (which came with nothing, no pickle or anything) was over fifty dollars. Definitely overpriced for something anyone could assemble at home with cold cuts and a package of bread for maybe seven dollars for all four sandwiches. While I wanted to give it four stars because of the warmth of the staff, price and the execution of the sandwiches make me ultimately give it three stars. read more

Enjoyed a wonderful specialty sandwich which was an outstanding Italian sandwich on bakery fresh thick cut white bread... once again... an amazing lunch in a relaxing place... 7/23/24. Apparently we were here 8 years ago and thought it was a good sandwich place so we recommended to go with friends before a movie at Regal Cinema. It is in the same location and I think the decor is the same or similar but it kind of ends there. It appeared the one lady was running the whole place-cashier, waitress, making the sandwiches etc. when we walked in at 12:40 there were no customers?! While there one other couple came in...lunch hour? I believe it has been sold and the lady said she was Ukrainian; she needed help. We had given ourselves time but normally working people-it took too long to get sandwiches. The guys ordered Reubin and said they liked them, my friend's turkey (little skinny on meat) but mine was the star! I got 1/2 salad and 1/2 crazy Rita sandwich-both were huge. Without a doubt the most pleasant surprise in the Jacksonville food scene. From the outside you won't know what to think, but once you step inside you will be blown away. The decor and ambiance are terrific and very European and modern. But that's not what will get you. The food is all fresh, flavorful and amazing. I haven't had anything on the menu (or off the menu secrets that you need to ask about) that didn't blow me away. I highly recommend this place if you want fresh and unique food ideas! read more

The woman behind the counter was very friendly, she recommended the Hot Chick sandwich, so that's what I got. The bread was nice and crispy, and they did not skimp out on the chicken. Walked in and ordered. Sat down with our order number and waited for 20 minutes and asked 3x for an employee to bring us a cup of ice so we could get our drinks. I went back up to order a Mocha Macchiato. This also took another 10 minutes. When I finally got this it was a double shot of espresso with foam on top. Not what i ordered, and i let them know, but was argued with that thats how THEY make macchiato's. Finally after asking where our sandwiches were, we were told there were a ton of tickets ahead of us... Amazingly, after 46 minutes our SANDWICHES came to the table. Just had my first visit to Mocha Rita's and would highly recommend and make a regular stop for hot and cold sandwiches. The establishment, named by the owners after their two dogs, Mocha and Rita, offers fresh homemade hoagie rolls for their sandwiches and fresh ciabatta for their paninis. Visiting for the first time, I asked the owner what I should get and she pointed to the panini section of four options as a place to start. I ordered the Cuban. I chatted with her for the few minutes it took to make it. When I asked for the sandwich to go, she was sure to show me how crisp the sandwich was before she enclosed it in the plastic container. "It's not going to be crisp after it goes in here" she warned. Fair enough, she set my expectations. After I got in my car I decided I should at least take a bite while it was still hot and crispy. The one bite became a full on assault on my sandwich and in minutes, I had consumed the entire thing in my car. My cuban was amazingly tasty and the filling was very generous. VERY good hot sandwiches. Exactly what we needed after a day of shopping in the area. NOTE: You will not be sure about this place from the outside, it's in an office park kind of place, but you MUST walk in and give it a try! The welcoming atmosphere inside more than makes up for the odd location outside. We were in the mood for something warm and meaty, but not thrilled about any of the chain restaurants that are all around the mall. Everything we had hit the spot. I got the Hot Chick because I was in the mood for something spicy, and my husband got a meatball sandwich. Both were excellent, with great flavor, and I feel like they were carefully made. I also got the house sangria, which only happens on Saturdays. It was great. Not very strong, but plenty of fruit and very delicious and refreshing. Mocha Rita's is a hidden gem located across the street from the Regal Cinema on Phillips Highway. When lunch calls, the options on Phillips are loaded with fast food or mid-level sit down spots. Mocha Rita's is a locally owned lunch joint slinging sandwiches, wraps and smoothies. If you haven't had an opportunity to try, please do. There's something satisfying about eating a sandwich with quality meats on quality bread (the use only Boars head). The smoothies are too watered down, so I would advise skipping on these. I've had their tuna, egg salad sandwich and a Reuben. Unfortunately due to the fact I'm glued at my desk at work, I've only had it take-out. WOW what a find! Hidden just off of Phillips Highway in an unassuming strip of stores you will find a beautiful little eatery that will make your taste buds dance for joy. It's in such an odd place in Jacksonville. However, this is totally my new lunch spot when at work; I will become a regular here. I found this off a suggestion from Yelp. I can't believe I didn't know about this place before. If you're a sandwich and sub connoisseur you will absolutely adore this place. The decor is lovely, everything is clean (even the bathrooms!), the food is fresh, the prices are very reasonable, and the service is great. They serve all Boar's Head meats which automatically catches my attention. For my first sandwich I went for the Regular MochaRit's Combo; ohhhh buddy. This was a mountain of meat! It consist of seasoned filet roast beef, tavern ham, ovengold turkey, melted provolone, mayo, lettuce, tomato and mustard (which I removed both). I added chipotle sauce, banana peppers, and black olives on 7 grain bread. Pair this with sweet tea and you will make all your senses very happy. Seriously this was so much food that I haven't even ate dinner yet because I'm still full from eating this and I had it around 1pm (8 hours ago). All of their sandwich prices around 8-9 bucks. Mine cost me $9.95 for a full sandwich and was $6.25 for half. With my sweet tea I paid like 11 bucks total I think. Had I known it was so much food I would opted for the half portion, but seriously no complaints here. I will go through a food coma for this place. You can opt for a half sandwich and soup or salad as well. So many things to try here it will take me awhile, but I'm ready for the challenge! read more

This little deli is sitting in the middle of a business park on Phillips Highway. The nice people that run it are quick with a suggestion and very helpful. The place is painted and decorated very warm and inviting. There are tables on the covered sidewalk outside. The food is delicious. I tried one of the soups...seafood corn chowder and it was loaded with Tilapia, salmon, shrimp, corn, potatoes and celery. It was tasty, creamy and fresh. I had a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread. It was amazing. The bread was sliced thick and had the oats on the crust. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and the turkey was Boarshead. They have a nice selection of bottled drinks, fountain drinks, homemade tea and a selection of smoothies, coffees and adult beverages as well. I've been here a few times, usually after calling to confirm if it's seafood chowder day, because it's one of the best soups my mouth has ever experienced. The owner's mom makes all the soups herself, and she does it with love. Today was chicken noodle soup day. It's got great flavor and big chunks of chicken surrounded with twisty pasta. Hubby and I both had the cup of soup, he had the Cuban sandwich (and he loved it) I had a half rueben and it was GREAT! They apparently make their own saurkraut, it was fresh and delicious. They aren't a spot to go for a cheap lunch, but they are very very good. The decor is very upscale. I really enjoy this place. It's in the business park across from the Regal Movie theatre, so you have to look for it. They close at 4 pm so if you're a late lunch or early bird dinner eater, it's a great spot. read more

Very good sandwiches! My mom and I stopped by here today for lunch after reading some yelp reviews. It was our first time here and we were impressed. She had the Hot Chick which is buffalo style sliced chicken with Monterey Jack cheese, onions and a yummy chipotle sauce. Its grilled on fresh and delicious ciabatta bread. I got the Cowboy which is roast beef and bacon with cheese, lettuce, tomato and horseradish sauce on toasted white bread. We split the sandwiches. And we were both glad we did. They were so good. Just delicious!!! The last two places I have eaten at have been just not so good..... So going to lunch today i didn't have high expectations, I have eaten here before and it has always been good like a 4 stars good, but today it was 5 stars all the way!! There were a lot of guys working here now, where it used to be women, the guy at the counter was very friendly and helpful, he suggested a new sandwich they have which was a chicken Philly panini, chicken, sauteed onions and peppers with a spicy Pepperjack cheese....it was delicious crispy on outside and moist great flavor on inside. Next was the soup, they used to have salmon chowder that was great, now he said they bumped it up to a seafood (fish and shrimp) chowder (unfortunately they were out today) so I had to get chicken noodle which is usually kinda boring for me, but their version was great, good broth with spiral noodles and shredded chicken, along with their homemade croutons it was perfect for this freezing day! First time here although I believe they have been here a while. Staff was friendly. We cane around 11:30 and it looked like we were some of the first lunch customers. My son got the trio sandwich and a cafe mocha and enjoyed them both. I got their version of the Italian, it was okay. The decor is outstanding. Tried this place for the first time today for lunch. On the plus side they have a new creamy spinach and potato soup that was good; nice balance of spinach and the potatoes were a small dice that made it easy to eat. Plus it was accompanied house-made croutons. They also had a house-made sangria with lots of delicious fruit and not too sweet. My sister said her turkey on seven grain was very good. Hard to go wrong with Boars Head oven roasted turkey. On the downside the Cuban was only fair. I have certainly had much better Cuban sandwiches. This was too light on meat and too heavy on mustard. The decor was not what we were expecting. I was expecting the typical blah diner decor with bright lights and barren walls with tacky prints. Name doesn't matter because THEY WERE AMAZING. The outside is crispy and everything is melted full of flavor. Comes with a side of ranch which, if you are from the Midwest like me, goes with everything. The staff was so sweet and the place was so comfortably adorable inside. Only 2 stars; didn't actually eat! Went in around 1pm -ish. We ordered sandwiches which sounded really good. The waitress even showed us someone else's sandwich before she delivered it to his table. Was huge and looked great. The bad, sad news was that thy had no coffee. None. She said their coffee machine (I'm guessing an Italian machine?) was broken and the part was really expensive. We'll, they really should remove the large sign about all their types of coffees that's right on the front of their counter. So, we ordered sandwiches and sat and I noticed the last Yelp review was quite some time ago. We rethought about it and asked if our sandwiches had been started yet; they hadn't begun on the order so we went elsewhere. The decor and atmosphere was pleasant but the negative review (about an extraordinary long wait for food), the lack of recent reviews and the signs offering lots of coffee drinks but NO COFFEE of any kind (not even a Mr. Coffee coffeemaker?) had us wary. Mixed cheese grilled cheese was "better than good" according to my 5 year old. Wife got the house made Sangria, I'm not one for Sangria personally, but I thought it was really good. If you're in the area and need lunch - stop in! The decor is the most upscale I've seen for a deli. I'm a regular at MochaRita's...I work in the complex. She (the owner) is always consistent! The sandwiches are HUGE and delicious!!! I had the Crazy Rita last week for the first time and was pleasantly surprised how flavorful it was!! I ordered a 1/2 and it was more than enough to fill me up! The restaurant is always clean. Smoothies, beer, wine, coffee, lattes, sandwiches and even a quick snack can be found here. It is a great place to meet for a business lunch. Wifi is available inside the deli and outside on the patio. Although the deli is located just off Philips Highway - the complex is far enough from the road where you can enjoy patio seating. read more

As I entered this place as it had a nice a little sitting area on onside (for what I'm sure) and booths on the other. The ladies at the counter were very pleasant and helpful with the daily specials. I ordered the Reuben and let me tell you it was good a little messy but delish. It had a lot of good tasting corned beef and nice homemade sauerkraut and a good dressing. Just like the sandwiches I used to get in New York. I liked it better then the ones I got from Katz's Deli and it didn't cost me 18 bucks. I do hope that this place is here for awhile and uses the sitting area for more tables.
