The 2 stars is for the corned beef hash I has this morning. I asked if it was homemade and the lady behind the counter said yes. Well, it turned out to be a big mushy potato thing (with no crispy exterior whatsoever) with tiny bits of extremely thinly sliced of what I can only assume is corned beef, but it had no real flavor and just seemed like bits of middling quality pre-sliced luncheon meat. It was definitely on the low end of hash I have had in my life. On the bright side, my mom enjoyed her croissant, which was good. My dad also enjoyed his omelet, but id didn't sample it, so couldn't comment. The busser was very helpful, so that's a small plus, but the coffee was just decent. Overall, I might come back to try one of the sweet pastries, but with Anepalco's only a couple minutes drive away, and the Filing Station only a couple minutes walk away, I can't see any reason I would come here for breakfast again. read more

Both as a restaurant and bakery, this place is excellent. I love many things here including the tuna melt, turkey sandwich, chicken pot pie, the soups, the pastries and the sides. Everything is very tasty and well worth the trip to Orange. If you work in the area, mornings are great since you can grab a pastry and coffee or even a full breakfast. I love the machaca and their ham is delicious. You won't be disappointed in the food or the service. Very nice folks here. I wish I could come for lunch for more often, but sometimes parking can be a challenge if you are in a hurry and don't like to walk. You can get it to go also, great for that too. We will take pastries with us to Disneyland. Cookies are all delicious too. read more

Very nice people, good food, fast service and decent cup of coffee. Not cheap, but won't break the bank either. Great place to get breakfast especially since it's usually got plenty of table space unlike other busier restaurants in the area. Try the breakfast burrito if you're hungry. read more

Came upon the Blue Frog Bakery while exploring down town Orange (just south of the Orange Circle area). A pleasant small shop with inside & outside tables. Their sandwiches were very good; better than I expected. The staff was polite and made sure we were not ignored and returned to our table to see if we needed anything else once our food was served. We will be back soon. read more

3 stars for the veggie sandwich, it was ok but 2's company down the block is better; but the blue frog cookies. wow. for $1 you get a massive morsel of deliciousness. the everything cookie is my personal favorite (coconut, macadamia nut, and chocolate), the chocolate chip, and chocolate chocolate. they are all fantastic. staff is always very friendly. read more

blue frog, you make my tummy happy ! their portions here are HUGE and the potato salad is very good . i usually get the regular blue frog sandwich. i think that's what it is called. its so good and their whole sandwich makes me so full . :) i came here with my bf and we shared a sandwich and we were both full afterwards. i knocked off one star because when they were closing , the worker kinda tried to push me into buying a cookie when i was not interested in it. and she told me to tell my friends also when they had already bought a cookie earlier. but i shall return back to you one day in the near future . :) read more

I really wanted a breakfast sandwich and this did not disappoint! I got the bacon breakfast panini and my husband got the italian sausage one. We both loved them. My herbed potatoes were also amazing because they were crunchy on the outside, super soft on the inside, and had a good flavor- and I'm a potato connoisseur. We also split an almond bear claw and wow this was a treat! We knew it'd be way too much food for both of us so we ended up bringing a doggie bag home. Fun ambience, fun to people watch. This place is a mediocre American breakfast place. I ordered the froggie morning special with a side of bacon and potatoes. I got more potato than the actual meal (scrambled eggs) and my bacon was burnt and super dry. The only ok thing was free coffee refills and the caramel mocha coffee. I didn't try the pastries. This is by far my favorite little lunch spot in OC to visit with girlfriends for lunch or my sister. They make their bread fresh daily and their sandwiches are so yummy with soft fresh bread. I also love their potato salad it has a nice creamy texture and is light and not overpowering on any spices or flavors. I personally hate lots of mayo so I appreciate that it's not loaded with it. They have a large selection of desserts which are always delicious. I love the cakes and fruit tarts. I am also a huge fan of the veggie breakfast burrito. It has lots of fresh veggies lightly cooked and includes eggs and cheese. It also has avocado. They are a great place with good quality and fresh made food. read more

Everything in the Orange "plaza" or "circle" area just seems so mediocre. In this area of mediocrity, this place stands out as being slightly below that. The staff are really nice, but the food is underwhelming. I love potatoes, but I ate one piece from my breakfast and just couldn't continue. The potatoes have to be pretty bad for me not to want to eat them all. The food came out super fast which was great, but that just made me think that maybe everything was made ahead of time? Seriously, the potatoes were rock hard and dry. Everything was tepid including the coffee. The bread from my husband's plate was delicious, though. That was the difference between a one star and two star. Maybe their pastries are better? Still, I like coffee with my pastries, and at 8:30am in the morning, I would have thought the coffee would be hot. It was just as tepid as everything else. Honestly, I want these cafes to succeed here but not at the cost of disappointing customers. I don't recommend this place even as I think the frogs are a super cute idea. Maybe you'll have a better experience, but this is a one-and-done for me. I had the huevos rancheros. It was the least seasoned breakfast I've had in a while. I hope reviews like this will help the restaurant improve its quality as they've got a lot of things that could be going for them. read more

Cheerful employees, but could use a good dusting. Should let employees pick music, HATE radio commercials. Employees should also make a point of remembering customer's orders. Too many mis-communications guys. The food was terrific. For breakfast, this place is one of the best. The egg muffin breakfast was simply delicious. Easy to eat with hands or utensils and the bacon, was perfect. The side of potatoes were amazing! They were hearty without being greasy. Froggy's Philly sandwich was also good. The lemonade was refeshing and delived a punch. The lunch here is solid, but the breakfast is this place's high point. Employees were all very friendly and well mannered. The persistence these guys show with their frog theme is impressive, not gonna lie. This place has a reputation for desserts so I got a little sampling of the white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie. The cookie was quite tasty. To add to an earlier post. We are a family of 5 that enjoys eating out for breakfast on the weekends. We were finding that taking 3 teens to breakfast was easily costing us $50 or more. At blue frog we can have a better, fresher meal for about $35 including drinks. When my kids order OJ, they get a nice large glass and even give free refills. Best breakfast spot for the money. Lunch is great too. My dad wanted to treat my family and my brother to lunch. 7 people total. He was shocked when he only spent $58 on lunch. We had drinks and large fresh sandwiches. They had run out of mini cookies that they give with the sandwiches so without even asking the waitress brought us a plate of large cookies...so nice! read more

What a gem! Stopped by for lunch on a whim. The 'ladies who lunch' sitting next to us implored one of us to try the meatloaf sandwich. I was skeptical, but went with it. Lemme tell ya, this is no ketchup laden soggy bread-filled meatloaf...it's more like savory seasoned chopped beef and is excellent on the absolute best ciabatta bread I've encountered in a good long while. When I ordered the coconut pie to share with my wife for dessert, our lady friends next to us winked and told me I had good taste. Even the potato salad was singularly tasty. Friendly staff and a low key vibe. Got there at 11:30 on a Saturday and still able to score one of the 4 sidewalk tables. Do yourself a favor and just go. Highly recommended. read more

Unfriendly staff.....will let you stand at the counter endlessly without any type of acknowledgement. Has happened all 3 times I have visited this place. The blueberry muffin I bought today was horrible....the bag was all full of grease.....and it tasted like a boxed blueberry mix. I will not be going back. read more

Was so looking forward to experiencing a wonderful lunch with their fabulous potato salad. I had gone to a charity luncheon which BF had catered. Everyone at the table was amazed at how creamy and flavorful the potato salad was. Their sandwiches were pretty good also. But they must have made the salad fresh for the luncheon because the potato salad I had at lunch was old and didn't taste the same I didn't eat it all. The tuna sandwich ciabatta bread was very fresh and wonderful. The tuna salad itself was rather lacking. We ordered a side of fruit and there was a lot of it. My two friends enjoyed their lunch. I might go back if I'm looking for a sandwich place. It's cute inside. They also serve breakfast but I think they need to put a sign outside so that people know they serve breakfast and lunch. I live locally and have frequented the Blue Frog Bakery many, many times. I have to say that I absolutely love having the bakery in Old Towne Orange. I love that this is a family run business and the owners are just wonderful. The food is very good and always very fresh. I also like the fact that there is always something new and I enjoy their daily specials. The prices are very reasonable. The restaurant has a very comfortable feel and is always welcoming. If you visit Old Towne Orange, this is the place to stop by and try! read more

If you want an excellent bear claw...Blue Frog is the place! Loved the filling...not sticky like those from Poul's. Bear claw was still warm when I got to my office! The muffins & other pastries are WAY TOO SWEET - as in TOO MUCH sugar, after eating one muffin, you can't help but feeling guilty and go to the gym directly. It's something you can indulge once a month. The coffee is watered down, definitely not enough to wake you up in the morning. And watch out for the Redhead young girl on the counter, sometimes she's in a good mood & all smiles, BUT most of the time, she's cranky, moody and gives you a "look" when you ask water for the DOG and / or change your order (while you are still at the counter, ordering) read more

My wife and two kids are busy people. To say we eat out often is an understatement. So we know restaurant food very well. We fell in love with The Blue Frog over three years ago. The sandwiches are delicious and almost too big. Actually, wife & I split one most of the time. Kids also split froggies breakfast burrito almost every saturday. This is as fresh and good as it gets- and the price is very reasonable! I would like to say that "PEBBLE" is completely out of line and a blatant liar. In no way did the owner ever discriminate against the boy that she is talking about. I know the owner personally and I was there when this particular incident happend. Stevie was screaming at the top of his lungs for at least 1/2 hour while people were literally walking out and complaining as his mother ate her lunch with complete indifference ignoring the extreme loudness, doing nothing to calm or sooth her son. After they were finished eating, the owner asked the lady that when the next time they came in, if Stevie was getting loud to try to help him quiet down a bit, and if she couldn't, to step outside. In no way did the owner ask them to leave or not come back. In fact this lady and her VERY mentally and physically disabled son have been regular customers for over 2 and a half years! Since then this miserable woman has made it her crusade to sabotage this great family-owned bakery and blatantly lie about what happened all the while using her innocent son as a weapon. I think it is discusting and this lady should get a life and a clue! Don't pay any mind to this irrational person- you'll miss out on some amazingly fresh and tasty food! read more

I debated writing a review for this bakery until I saw the poster below had the same experience as us! We come about once a week to get some bakery items, and we've liked most of what we have tried; however, lately it is such a pain to actually make the order because the woman behind the counter is almost comically bad. In the past 4 weeks she 1 ) was too busy flirting with the delivery guy to help anyone in line and didn't even try to wrap it up any faster as we were all standing there waiting for her to finish, 2) on a personal call at the counter and ignored everyone in line as she took her time 3) left out items of our order for which we paid [the owner made good on this] 4) somehow managed to wait on everyone behind us in line first and when we asked why said "she doesn't notice who's in line." Um, isn't that your ONLY job - to notice who's in line and ring them up? The rest of the staff seems to take care of the customers who are dining in. I can see being flustered at times but she's not even apologetic about it, I dunno what's going on with that or if she's miserable there or what, but I'd give the bakery 4 stores and her 2 stars so = 3 stars. read more

I have been to the Blue Frog many times. Sometimes I buy sometimes I do not. All of the food I eat there I have liked. some of it is pretty good some is just average but nothing has been bad. The service is all over the map. Often I stop by just to buy some bakery items to go or maybe a sandwich. To often I feel like I am intruding. More than a few times I stand and wait for service when there are no other customers at the register. I don't mind waiting if there are other customers obviously. I have had the cashiers just look at me and then take care of some menial task behind the counter. You name the reaction and I have gotten it. So, when I go in now I just do a gut check and when it looks like the vibes are not good I walk out. I think their bakery items are o.k. enough to grab and munch but not for a special occasion. They are often over baked. Want to sit down and relax? Usually good unless you get one of the attitude people. I have found over time that employees are a reflection of the personality of the owner or owners. After all, if the owner is friendly, warm and fuzzy then is it likely they would keep an employee who was not this way and even rude? You surround yourself with people of like mind and actions to a great extent. read more
