O'Hare has plenty of food options from which to choose, but the fact is that most of the food spots spill you out into the concourses and crowd everything, including you. This Concourse C food court with Café Zoot is a better choice. You can do both breakfast and lunch-ish fare during most hours of the day. The pastries/pre-prepared sandwiches selection is in the case to the left, and even if you want your pastry warmed up, you get served pretty quickly. To me, that's the real value with Café Zoot: from the time you enter the line until exit, it is far quicker than any of the chain spots. If you are after a sandwich, then they will make up any of a handful of fresh sandwiches, at surprisingly reasonable prices, and have you out of the line quickly. The service really turns you through the line (well, maybe something specialty might have you waiting) and my experiences have been a quick transaction. It is an airport, so you're either coming or going, and often times in a hurry. Café Zoot is a great option if you're in the C Concourse and need something in a hurry. read more

The only saving grace is the customer service. The staff is really nice and helpful, but other than that this place sucks. It's in the middle of the food court in the C Concourse so it's pretty crowded- expect a wait. There is a seating area which looked spacious although I didn't sit down. The croissant...I got it warmed up. It was so strange. You would thing a savory croissant wouldn't be sweet, but you would be wrong in this case. So my fiancée and I were flying from Toronto to Tokyo but with a connecting flight through Chicago. This cafe was located inside the terminal near our gate flying to Haneda. I wasn't hungry so I didn't get anything, my partner on the other hand ordered a turkey sandwich. She got pickles, real deli mustard and the standard condiments (lettuce, tomatoes, etc) on her sandwich. Personally for the price I paid, I thought they could've put more turkey in the bun but taste-wise, it was solid, according to her. As far as sandwiches go, I thought it was around a 3 but she thought it deserved 4 stars because the pickles were super tasty and the mustard was that real deli mustard, not the processed yellow stuff. read more

Our seat neighbor even commented that they looked great for airport fare. Employee who took the order was great. This place could be a hit or a miss but I primarily stopped here because I saw their smoothie prices for pretty fair and I had a muffin too also at a fair price. Many of the other restaurants charge a lot of money for their stuff but this place and the Billy Goat Tavern will give you the most bang for your buck. Smoothie was really good that they ordered and it was a great size too for the standard. The lines here are pretty busy too it's pretty nice and waiting in line isn't too bad unless there's a rush. Good for when you're ordering either of those, but bad for when you're ordering anything else, because a ham & cheese croissant costs the same amount too. One fewer ingredient, yet it's the same price. If you're keeping score at home, that means no discounts for using fewer ingredients, which means we vegetarians are subsidizing the meat eaters, as usual. I wish I had known that before I came here. This was a while back, so the prices weren't as high, but when I asked for an egg & cheese croissant, the guy asked me whether I wanted ham or sausage. "Neither," I said. "You're sure?" "Yup." So when I saw the receipt, I asked him why he charged me for a ham & cheese croissant. "Because you didn't want the meat. It's the same price no matter what you get on it." Woot Woot for Cafe Zoot - Hey ya'll I was impressed, not overly impressed but still impressed. Anyone wondering the aisles at O' Hara knows the food choices are limited and there are a lot of joints playing on the Chicago food theme with the Pizza Pie and the Italian Beef or the hotdogs and even a Nuts on Clarke none misleading but nothing I'd hang my hat on and call a must have while passing through this terminal. I stopped by Zoot in search of something freshly prepared under a hundred dollars for a quick lunch before catching my next flight, certainly you must know if Chicago was my final destination I'd be saving my appetite for something downtown no matter how hungry I was after deplaning. After watching the sandwich making process for a few minutes and the employees efficiently and continuously serve customer after customer I decided on a roast beef on a toasted roll loaded up with everything but black olives, in my opinion all olives should be green and served on a thin crust pizza or in a chilled martini glass period end of story. I got in line behind a pilot who was loading up the feed bag before boarding his flight and it seems he had experienced Zoot before because he was really peeling off the napkins in preparation for his mile high feast. My sandwich came off the oven conveyor and the girl dressed it and wrapped it in less than a NY minute I grabbed as bag of bbq chips, cashed out and was one my way to find a suitable sit that may or may not have been wiped down this week at the handy dining area behind this food court. Good place to get a quick, healthy lunch to go at the airport. I got a toasted sandwich on multigrain bread with turkey, mustard, lettuce, tomato, and black olives. With a red delicious apple, it was a complete and tasty meal. The line was long but it moved fast. There is a separate line for made-to-order sandwiches and another line for drinks and other stuff. I'm not sure how this place has reviews with 5 stars. I can certainly be generous, but for an airport establishment, with poor service, reheated croissant sandwiches, mediocre coffee, and moderately high prices, I couldn't go more than 3. Prior to trying the breakfast croissant with sausage and egg, I would have given this place a 3, because it lost points for the rude and inattentive person behind the counter. Prior to eating the breakfast croissant, I examined it to find out that it's not a sandwich... they instead inserted the sausage and egg into the croissant before baking. Since the sausage is a small patty, it covers less than half the surface area of the croissant. It wasn't the worst thing ever, but I felt misled into thinking I was going to have a mouthful of sausage in every bite. The coffee wasn't bad, but I didn't finish it... a sign that I wasn't really feeling the flavors. While there may be something to be said about your health and going here instead of McDonald's, one thing I can say is that the value of the dollar at McD's goes a long way versus the dollar here. I'm not sure what the airport prices are, but with the $1/2/3 menu at McD, you're liable to get more bang for your buck. read more

Today I experienced the WORST customer experience service of my life. I was on a 2 hour layover in Chicago so I decided to kill some time and get my little girl some rainbow sherbet from this cafe. When I walked in there were only two people ahead of me and they all went over to the far right where the ice cream was. I was waiting behind those two women and then a ton of people came in and started ordering hot food at the left side of the cafe. The man in these photos who claims he is the manager skipped me to let a few people pay for their food which wasn't really a big deal because I was in no hurry at all. Well after 2 people who came in after me were served first, I inched up toward the register as I had been waiting with my little girl for about 15 minutes. It was at this point the man in these photos raised his voice and tells me "you need to get to the back of the line". I explain to him that I've been there before all of those other people including the ones he just rung up. He then yells "WELL YOU NEED TO USE SOME FUCKING COMMON SENSE" right in front of my FOUR year old daughter. I immediately left because I did not want my daughter to hear that or see me get upset over the situation. I was completely mortified as there were tons of people including pilots that had probably just got off a plane and witnessed the entire thing. I was pretty shocked no one said anything about me being there first but they were probably just as shocked as I was at the language and treatment this man was giving me. I had so much time to spare I wouldn't dare dream of "cutting" these people I simply stood in the part of the line to show my little girl the ice cream flavors. His behavior was appalling snd inexcusable and he should honestly be fired. He wasn't nice to any of the people in front of me either. Someone who is willing to talk to someone like that in front of their child who just wanted some ice cream is a total piece of trash. Even the other young kid working there said he saw what happened and agreed I was there before all those other people when I went back to get photos of the rude old man. I have worked in the hospitality industry for 12 years so it takes a lot for me to get upset about situations especially ones involving food of all things. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone EVER. This is not how you treat customers period. Would give zero stars if I could. read more

I'm an airport employee and I always get my cappuccino from them. I guess one could say I'm a regular customer. During the holiday travel, as one would expect, the lines get long so I come to work a bit early to get my cappuccino. However, the last 2 times the line was so long and it took forever because they allowed people to cut in front without standing in line. Once, I was in a hurry, so I did the same and just walked up to an open register, after I noticed other people were doing same. The guy at the register scolded me for cutting in; however, he did not scold anyone else. It was embarrassing. It was obvious I'm an employee since I was in my uniform. During Covid, when business was slow, I'm quite sure that it was airport employees who kept the businesses going, yet they treat us like garbage. Today, I was again standing in a long line which took about 20 mins for me to finally be able to order. I counted 5 people just walk right up to the counter and order. By the time I was called to step up, I had 5 mins to spare. I mentioned to the employee that they are allowing people to cut in when others are waiting 20 mins or more and that's not fair, and she started yelling at me and in anger threw something on the counter! Then she yelled saying that maybe I want her job?! I replied that I already have one at which I need to be in less than 5 mins. After I was yelled at before, I thought I'd give it one more try, but after today- they lost a regular customer. I'm sure they don't read these reviews because they don't rely on repeat customers as majority of their customers are just one time pass-through customers. The thing about being an airport employee, we know a lot of other airport employees and word spreads. I'll make sure that my colleagues know how poorly they treat us so they don't spend their money at that's place like I did for years. I'll take my money elsewhere or I'll just start bringing my own coffee from home. Let's see how much they won't get from me anymore: $3.5 x 4 (days per week)= $14; $14 x 4 (weeks in a month)= $56; $56 x 12 (months) = $672 per year. I've been getting my coffee from them for years.
